Today i get an error every time i try to access any of the default home pages by SE on Opera browser(like panels, X1 support etc). I get the following
"Apache Tomcat/4.0.5-HTTP status 404-not found"
Is it my phone or there is something wrong with their servers?
Try to connect with 3G/Edge/Gprs instead of Wifi. These pages doesnt work with Wifi enabled on my device for some reason.
I never accessed them with 3G. I always used WiFi to access them. I cant seem to access them today for some reason.....
Just use PIE instead

My Schools network uses clean access agent, which checks to make sure your windows device has the correct authentication. It will not let me go on ie, as it sees that I do not have the correct Virus protection etc. However it lets you use Opera, as it just lets it bypass the checks because none are in place for it.
I can use Opera or Skyfire, that isn't a prob. But when I try to use a program that connects to the Internet such AIM or QuickGPS, It won't work. Im assuming that the program is using IE to access the data. Although I have no idea how a program connects to the Internet (Does it use a browser?) Anyway, is there a way I can change the settings to get the program to use Opera?
Thanks,
I'm not sure that it will work, but you could try changing your default browser.
There are many threads in the forum with this information, Here's one, do a search for others.
hey, if you talk to your university's computer support team, they may tweak their internet settings so mobile browsing can work. i go to western connectisut state university, and i e-mailed the computer center with this problem (i dormed on campus and the ResiNET they used blocked me as well b/c i didnt install clean access agent. the university's network read my device as if it was a desktop since they blocked me saying i needed to install that ****ty software). once i did that, they e-mailed me back saying they updated their systems so i was able to use the web-based login, and then i began surfing the net. once u logged in, you should be able to update the GPS & use AIM with no real problems.
i hope this helps! there isn't a real way to bypass the system. believe me, i tried searching for ways to bypass the system. changing your default browser won't remedy it b/c the network only reads IP addresses and the fact information (doesn't matter what it is) is being pass through its network, it will block it without proper ID keys from the web-based log in. i even tried searching for a mobile version of cisco clean access agent but there isnt such software. like i said, talk to your university computing center and they can help you. it is really up to them to be able to change the settings around.
Hi everyone,
For some reason when I load IE or Opera, it won't let me connect to websites. Opera tells me that the remote server refuses to perform the request. But for some reason, all my other stuff like Youtube app, weather updates, etc. can still work. I'm on AT&T with my iphone 3G sim card. I tried deleting the MediaNet settings on the xperia and tried using connection wizard to setup again, but no go.
Please help, otherwise I'm gonna have to do a hard reset..
try use the wifi first? then switch back to sim 3G

There are multiple issues using an AT&T SIM card that was set up to use with the iPhone.
Before you can move on to other issues and items, you need to let AT&T know that you no longer have an iPhone.
Then you need to face that decision whether or not to admit that the IMEI you give them is a pocket PC.
Is there a way to stop opera 9.5 beta from reverting to the default on screen keyboard whenever i want to type? Its really time consuming to change back to the one i always use
Update: Well I tried using wi-fi and turning it off to go to 3G, but that was a no-go. Funny thing is this happened before too when I left wi-fi on, but not connected to any network. As for the iphone plan, I know one issue is I won't be able to receive MMS, but as for data connection, its setup on the xperia to use MediaNet. It just doesn't make sense that all the programs on the xperia can connect to the internet via 3G (including email), except the 2 browsers. Am I missing something else here?
This sort of happens to me. But ny version is when ever i try to use the browsers (I select a favorite page for example) the browser will attempt to go to the page. But instead of opening the page the browser simply shuts itself down and the experia returns to the panel page. No errors given.
I found that I have to manually clear the browser cache (soft reset no worky for this) then the browsers go back to working properly.
There is a setting some where I am to dumb to find that controls this.
I'm hoping someone can help me. I have an AT&T tilt. I've had it for a year with no problems. Yesterday I tried opening Opera 9.5 and it just hung at connecting to media net. I tried a soft reset, I've tried removing the batteries and reinstalling opera. The problem still persists. I tried leaving it alone to connect to media net, and found google had loaded about an hour later. Unfortunately the browser was still non-responsive. After taking a look at other programs, I discovered, Internet Explorer is the only app that works. Even messaging doesn't, it hangs while trying to connect to download mail. I tried leaving it alone like I did for Opera an found it "logging on" about an hour later, but it was hung. I've also tried turning on WiFi, but Opera still cannot connect.
From what I can see, it looks like there's an issue connecting up to the network, however, I can't explain why IE can do it, but everything else can't. Does anyone have any idea or suggestions for troubleshooting this one?
Thanks in advance.
hi,
try this opera fix.

as for messager live .. good luck with that .. as far as I can see, the only solution is to do a hard reset and AVOID using the auto configurator in the email setup.
quote
" bad news for Windows live/ hotmail users is that they do not get the chance to select the network connection a windows live/hotmail account uses. On the very first part of the e-mail setup, as soon as you type in "[email protected], or [email protected]" , the account wizard completely takes over declaring that "settings found for hotmail.com". And even after you type in all your details you do not get to option to select the network connection to be used. (This is consequence of the fact that Microsoft Windows Mobile thinks it knows best how to configure microsoft based e-mail accounts for windows mobile.) The network connection that is automatically selected is called "The Internet". As you cannot select another network connection, you must edit "The Internet" connection so that it has the right settings for your particular mobile service provider. To do this"

But the strange thing is that I cannot find The Internet connection settings. So i cannot edit The Internet networking settings. Apparently, the end user is deem too stupid to know how to edit it correctly, so it's set automatically and hidden from view. Still investigating.
Hi,
Just bought my TD2, and overall happy with it... I started testing it out and noticed that the browser cannot access any secure sites (including but not limited to: ANY webmail like Yahoo or Gmail, school login, or internet banking site).
I am a T-Mobile UK contract user (Flext). When I first turned on the phone I let it automatically configure for internet use. For general browsing that worked fine, but wouldn't let me access the sites mentioned above.
I called T-Mobile and, though they tried to be helpful, never figured out the problem. I know this is not a general T-Mobile issue because I was able to access these sites on my older phone, and I know it's not a browser issue because when connected through Wi-Fi (to my home network) it's perfectly fine.
So - if anybody has had or heard of this issue before, please help! There must be SOME setting or option that I'm missing, that prevents me from accessing secure sites!
I have the standard ROM, which includes Opera 9.5 build 16277, and Internet Explorer (of indeterminate version). Both browsers have this issue, in different ways: Internet Explorer claims the website doesn't exist:
"Cannot find 'http://mail.google.com/mail/x/?source=mobileproducts&dc=gorganic'. Make sure the path or Internet address is correct."
Opera 9.5 does one better and crashes: "We're Sorry... A problem has occurred with Opera9.exe"... followed by the option to send an error report to Microsoft.
As I said before it's NOT a browser problem because when connected to my home Wi-Fi network, both browsers work fine in secure sites.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Wassim
The T-Mobile auto configuration puts an entry under Proxy Servers which you need to remove (go to "Settings, All Settings, Connections, Connections, T-Mobile Internet, Manage Existing Connections, Proxy Settings" and check "connect direct to the internet"). Your problems should now go away and Opera shouldn't crash any more (you may need to soft reset before this takes effect).
Thank you Pete... I can't believe it was that simple, but it worked! Funny thing is, I could have sworn that option was checked off previously. But I did it again, and soft reboot, and now I can access any site I damn well please!
I'll let the guys at T-Mobile know in case some other poor guy has the same issue.
Cheers,
Wassim
Hello
I'm looking for a program which will ask me, everytime when connection to the internet is needed, which type of connection i want to use. I had before a phone with Symbian system, and I really liked it but i cant find something like that for WM 6.1. Example: I open we browser and enter web adress. Then ppc ask me which type of connection should it use: Wi-Fi or 3G. I choose for example Wi-Fi and network which i want connect to. PPC is connecting, i see the web page which i wanted and then i close web browser - Wi-fi is turned off automaticly. The same with 3G. I believe in your help
I never saw such a tool. However I'm waiting ages for someone to create such a program/service.
For now I would recommend for you to use DialUp Enabler/Disabler or NoData.
