How to kill ActiveSync? - Touch HD General

Is there a way to kill AS in order to save battery?

There are many threads with the same question, use the search and you will find some like this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=457793

ASyncKiller don't work, I use the fake server trick and it's ok now
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=288352
ps: don't delete the fake server, if you delete it activesync will come back.

The fake server isn´t working for me with or without AS Killer, any other options?

i can confirm mikechannon's guide at post 2 works like a charm!
if you close manually activesync (obviously while not connected to the pc) it will not run again!
when you plug the device with the usb it will run as expected!
cheers

This AS is a Pain in the ASS, just can´t do it.

Are you talking of this post:

Call me mad, but I stopped it easily and accidentally. I stopped from the drop down menu top right corner, then connected to a pc as a disc drive.
Active sync aint popped up since.

.....and it's not switching on your device at midnight?
Beards

Not as far as I'm aware no. I used to see the same problem, a.s. in the drop down menu, always there even if I selected it off. After connecting to a computer as a disc drive it appears to have gone. I'll wait 'till midnight now to report back.
Hasn't been in the drop down menu for days.

Since carrying out the Fake Server I have not sync'd the device using AS.

It will sync normally if I select a.s. on connecting to a p.c.
Just looked in task manager - it;s there but the check box is grayed out.
Definately not showing in drop down menu, even with soft reset, and haven't seen it wake up the device at all -but now I will look for it at 00:00

Finally! I´ve done it, it off and it´s on when connected to the pc.
Many thanks to you all!

Using my method?

What I do
I did the following with my HD, and it killed my Active Sync entirely, including midnight wake. Not sure if it will work for everyone, but did for me:
1. Install ASyncKiller to keep from having to manually close Active Sync down after you sync via USB;
2. Set up a fake server, uncheck all items to sync, hit finish, schedule for manual retrieve (as discussed in the links posted above) and KEEP the fake server.
3. In MemMaid or other task manager (there are free ones, I believe, if you search) open up the notification queue look for "repllog.exe". There should be three instances of it. Delete the one that says "AppRunAfterTimeChange."
Hope this works, and, yes, it is ridiculous that you have to go to such lengths for something so simple. This is why I love Windows Mobile

Photocontacts doesn't work most of the time

Hi,
I just bought a Magician (Qtek s100) and the app Photocontacts seems to almost never work. The pics I assign almost never show up when someone calles me, even the default pics won't show.
Is there any way to fix this??
Funcemina bem no meu QTEK 9090. Tenho a impressao k isso nao deve tar mto bem instalado. Ja meteste a hipotese de fazer um hard reset?
Oi, epa ele vinha assim de origem com ele instalado e nunca funcinou muito bem...

Don't know if this is the case, but it is crucial that the application is running in the background. If you close it things wont work... Just minimize.
to laaban
I also have the same problem, and your tip doesn't work, thanks thought.
Not sure if it worked
After some dig in, I just though from conclusion to try to change the ringtone of the phone to default after I had it changed before to fantasy, and then... photocontacts is working again. Let's see for how long. I will keep in touch.
I've tried it all, just minimizing, default ringtone and nothing.... I have rom 1.11 and SPB pcoket plus installed if that helps anything
Got this pain... solved finally
re installed caller_ID .. when there was an error about some file poped up.. go back to file explorer and rename that file.. then re install .. there will be like 4-5 of them.. soft reset..
hard reset
You can always try to do a hard reset and install application by application always trying after each application if photo contacts is still working with another phone. This way you can check which is the program that is keeping photo contacts from running.

gprs automatic disconnection after mail checking

good morning everybody,
quite a newbie here. Please be patient.
I have noticed that my qtek 9000 does not disconnect automatically after a gprs connection. Per example after mail checking . It did it until somedays ago. I did not change anything in the applications installed.
Could somebody explain mewhy this can happen ? Is there a solution?
Many thanks for your kind replies
Tony
I need it, too
I know there are some third parts programs that cheks idle connections.
But i hope there's a registry hack 'cos i don't want a program in background that eats ram and/or CPU.
Is that possible?
:!:
I need this too !
Ok got it . The hack is GB - soft gprs & tweak
http://www.gb-soft.cz/xdaii/product_gprs_tweak_en.htm (for free download)
Settings (qtek 9000) to get immediate disconnection after mail connection are as follows...
Hope that a wise guy will bring things to normality on next rom release...
Cheers
I can't belive that there isn't another way to solve this problem.

...Me neither but........it seems so, unless a new rom will come to solve it.
Strange enough, but after a couple of hours under the new rom management, the disconnection worked...Then it stopped at once. Who knows why....
I went through HR and tried it again without ANY application...same problem.
At this stage I browsed around and grabbed this hack..
To be followed thus...

Maybe there is a program in extended rom that was not properly installed at the first boot.. And it start working from a reset..

Ciao!
install Resco Registry editor, then look in your registry for AlwaysOn string (there is a distinct entry for each connection setting you have created), then change from 1 to 0 or viceversa (if you want to be always connected: on packet data transmission you pay only for traffic, not for the time of connection, and your line is always free)

Any news?
I need too gprs automatic disconnect. Any idea?
I set the idle timeout to 60 seconds. Don't remember how I did it (thought with a standard settings program), but looking for it I found the following thread:

Dead Activesync

I know theres a million posts about activesync but honestly i've never ran into an error i couldn't solve. Now i'm just stuck.
When i connect my device to USB nothing happens. Windows makes that device connected sound and thats it. Activesync doesn't budge. I've restarted my pc, soft reset my device. Repaired activesync, uninstalled and reinstalled it. Ran that ReSync program several times as well as Activesync Toggle. NOTHING
I changed the USB cable even plugged it into a different port. When i do that windows pops up with that little notification new hardware found. Does its little routine but still... activesync is dead.
What do i do all mighty ones?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just tried to connect with my laptop and same thing. My brother's wizard connects to my activesync.... Does this mean its time for a hard reset?
What's happen ?
Is Activesync wizard client launching when you connect usb cable ?
Is Activesync server (pc) launching when you connect usb cable ?
Have you removed any notification in notification queue on wizard , with memmaid (or sktools) ?
Is the process repllog.exe is launching when on wizard you connect usb cable ?

its located in the notification que twice., first one doesn't have an argument, second one says AppRunAfterRndisFNDetected.
guess its not detectind Rndis... also when i use softic card export in usb mode, it does connect to the pc as a flash drive. but i removed it thinking it might be the culprit.
You need two repllog notification queue :
1- AppRunAfterRndisFnDetected (you have this one)
2- AppRunAtRs232Detect (you must recreate this one with memmaid or sktools for exemple)
thanks for that info, i just added the 2nd one, i'll try it out when i get home.
also one of the 2repllogs i've got has the argument /sched /remote /h thursday, august 03, 2006 - 8:01:40 should i remove this or leave it?
No you can leave it.
Some news ?
Same thing happened to me. I ended up having to uninstall ActiveSync on the PC, then go to Device Manager and remove the SmartPhone USB driver, reboot - and reinstall. Fixed the problem.
The time before that, I had to hard reset the Wizard when I trashed ActiveSync on the device itself.

worked like a charm, thank u so much, thought i was due for a hard reset but u were right on the money.
but when i first added the one i was missing i had to switch batteries, when i did that it was gone so i just re-added it and now its still in there.
haven't swapped batteries yet but done a couple of soft resets and its fine.
thanks again!
you're welcome
BTW guys - simular prob here... but I'm not going to hard reset... wondered if there where any simularities ?

I recreated the second one but cannot find this option using memmaid.
1- AppRunAfterRndisFnDetected (you have this one)

My newbie questions

Im learning my way into my new wizard, I have some questions:
How do I add data directly to my SD card from the PC? I dont have a miniSD reader or adapter. I want to add some MP3 and photos
ActiveSync only allows me to browse the phone internal memory.
Is there any tiny app that allows me to shut down the phone or restart it?
Thanks
prueba el wm5torage este va a convertir tu wizard en un lector de memorias sin k se active el active sync
enjoy it
Ciao Londere.
Thanks a TON!
Now I have a new question:
How can I map the Envelope button on my wizard, so when I press it, I can launch a new SMS message without going thru the menues to do this.
At this moment I have it mapped to the messaging app, but I want to go straight to send SMS as I just described.
Thanks!
one day saw a thread with this info search in the wizard forum bu remaping keys or something like that
found a solution here not sure if its the one you saw, but thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
Now I need to know how to map this shortcut to the envelope button, the settings>button app does not work for this.
Or I could use vijay555's suggestion and add an icon to the today screen with a link to it, but I dont know how to do it...
thanks again
so well i had never remap a kay well only the softkay with the tweaks . net but only the softkey

I have the same on my old device, Mitac Mio A701. This is probably normal for Windows mobile device. Check out this thread too. there are solutions for this...
the most simple and elegant solution:
just add activesync to exclusive list in the task manager...
1. when you'll check and get activesync on (uninvited)
2. go to task manager.
3. Click and hold on the word Activesync and then select from the pop-up "add to exclusive".
4. go to exclusive tab and thick activesync (repllog.exe).
done. worked for me many times (many ROMs)
i've tried this one (thanks to KukurikU) ...and so far so good.
i think its still running in the backround somewhere but i can't see it.
will try the other ones suggested...for a permanent fix later
cheers

yes you are right, you only prevented the application UI from running, the processes that's related to activesync are still running. there are several of them, so you may only have killed 1 or 2.
i don't understand why you want to kill activesync permanently. how do you sync your contacts and calendars and all that? :S
