Photocontacts doesn't work most of the time

Hi,
I just bought a Magician (Qtek s100) and the app Photocontacts seems to almost never work. The pics I assign almost never show up when someone calles me, even the default pics won't show.
Is there any way to fix this??

Funcemina bem no meu QTEK 9090. Tenho a impressao k isso nao deve tar mto bem instalado. Ja meteste a hipotese de fazer um hard reset?

Don't know if this is the case, but it is crucial that the application is running in the background. If you close it things wont work... Just minimize.

After some dig in, I just though from conclusion to try to change the ringtone of the phone to default after I had it changed before to fantasy, and then... photocontacts is working again. Let's see for how long. I will keep in touch.

I've tried it all, just minimizing, default ringtone and nothing.... I have rom 1.11 and SPB pcoket plus installed if that helps anything

Got this pain... solved finally
re installed caller_ID .. when there was an error about some file poped up.. go back to file explorer and rename that file.. then re install .. there will be like 4-5 of them.. soft reset.. :wink:

hard reset
You can always try to do a hard reset and install application by application always trying after each application if photo contacts is still working with another phone. This way you can check which is the program that is keeping photo contacts from running.

There are several plugins in that picture which one are you talking about?

The one that says 'Bluetooth headset mode enabled'.

He means the plugin for the wireless bluetooth headset. This is what i have been looking for for ages. This feature doesn't exist anymore on WM5 i think. :?

It's superb!!! As far as we cannot have a BT indicatot on the titlebar - it's somethning that resove the issue that many of us are asking on the forum...
UPDATE: I think I found it :!: Check out http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=200102 - in the middle of the page there's screen shot showing the same plugin.

I yhink your mistaken, that thread is about the pluging just aboven the headset plugin. Thats a "profile" plugin.

Oh yes, You're right I havent' reaad those posts too carefully.
I tried to google a little and every device I see with this plugin enabled is i-mate - maybe it's something bulid-in into the i-mate ROM...
Let's hop some ROM-extractors :wink: & i-mate owners will read this thread!

I think thats the only solutions for the problem. Someone needs to extract this feature from the i-mate ROM and create a CAB file for us to install.
Or mayby a registry change will fix this?

That's not nescaserely true, i have been using a cab file extracted from a dell axim ROM to be able to see on the bottem toolbar the status of a bluetooth connection, and this works great, it's called BTIcon, and it's designed for WM2003(SE).
The plugin we are talking about in the screenshot is an i-mate working on WM2003. So, IMHO it might work. 8)

Does it allow toggling of the bluetooth status too? if so, could you upload that onto here, or email it to me please

Install both programs for the best result. Assign a software/hardware button for CicleBT. Now by pressing the assigned button, the status of the BT icon on the bottem toolbar will change. On screen you get a message of the status of bluetooth.

Thanks for sharing, but still it's not the plugin of the screendump.
The problem is that both bars (top and bottom) are already full of information/icons zo there is no room.
The today plugin would fit better in my situaion.

I know it isn't but in the post before the attachment somebody specifictly asked for a bluetooth toggle app. :wink:

tengo on athena

Anybody able to get tengo working on their athena?
I've got a Dopod U1000. It will install and sometimes work for a while after hard resets/reinstalls, but always stops working suddenly and won't come back. By that, I mean that I can see tengo as an SIP option, but choosing it only brings up the standard WM keyboard.
I don't think there's a conflict because it stops working without any new apps being installed or settings being changed.
Anybody having better luck or have advice?

there is a problem with wm5 sip management....
have you made tengo your default input..(that should help)
or try searching for PQIIz and chose tengo as default for either potrait/landscape or both...
P.S-my experiences are based on universal....

Yes, I've experienced this and know how you can fix this.
The problem is the way memory is utilised. I don't knwo if this is due to WM5, but it happens not just to Dopod U1000/HTC Athena but to all PDA if certain software are installed.
I'll try to recall the steps I took. Please let me know if this works:
1) Temporarily switch off anything that uses memory: today plugins, WIFI, bluetooth.
2) Remove SD cards temporily. This is because of some bugs that is associated with SD card causing memory drain.
3) Select standard SIP as the default if it is not already so
4) Soft reset
5)Open an application that need keyboard. This can be notepad, word, excel etc
6) You should be able to select Tengo now
7) If you are using the free version: see www.free.tengo.net You must first register before the keyboard would work. If you have used the commercial version with added functionality ( www.tengo.net ) this may or may not be necessary - I'm not sure.
8) Once registered, you should be able to use Tengo from now on. Now you can put back all your WIFI, Bluetooth, desktop plugins and SD cards
This solution was provided by Edwin Ng, the founder of the Singapore company that made the SIP.
This is a very very clever, flexible, and fast input method. I've now used it as my default SIP and 10000% happy with it. There is virtually no learning curve.

I'm coming around to seeing it your way.
Been playing with this and this SIP is really starting to grow on me. I too have it as my default SIP right now as I'm hoping to start carrying the Ameo without keyboard as soon as a decent case, preferably silicon based, becomes available.

Tried searching that, comes up with 21 hits and net connection is too slow to check them all out atm, so as you were specific with the words I bunged them in quotes to search the exact string... only this thread comes up....
Tried "Happy Typing Keyboard iphone" (w/o quotes) and nowt.

You can even handle complex stuffs like web site address and password once the non-existing word has been used once. I like the audio warning if there is a non-existing word being typed, as it indicates typing error in most cases. The result is highly accurate and quick typing.

The fake server isn´t working for me with or without AS Killer, any other options?

i can confirm mikechannon's guide at post 2 works like a charm!
if you close manually activesync (obviously while not connected to the pc) it will not run again!
when you plug the device with the usb it will run as expected!

Call me mad, but I stopped it easily and accidentally. I stopped from the drop down menu top right corner, then connected to a pc as a disc drive.
Active sync aint popped up since.

Not as far as I'm aware no. I used to see the same problem, a.s. in the drop down menu, always there even if I selected it off. After connecting to a computer as a disc drive it appears to have gone. I'll wait 'till midnight now to report back.
Hasn't been in the drop down menu for days.

Since carrying out the Fake Server I have not sync'd the device using AS.
.... but the device still wakes up at midnight.

It will sync normally if I select a.s. on connecting to a p.c.
Just looked in task manager - it;s there but the check box is grayed out.
Definately not showing in drop down menu, even with soft reset, and haven't seen it wake up the device at all -but now I will look for it at 00:00

Finally! I´ve done it, it off and it´s on when connected to the pc.

Using my method?

What I do
I did the following with my HD, and it killed my Active Sync entirely, including midnight wake. Not sure if it will work for everyone, but did for me:
1. Install ASyncKiller to keep from having to manually close Active Sync down after you sync via USB;
2. Set up a fake server, uncheck all items to sync, hit finish, schedule for manual retrieve (as discussed in the links posted above) and KEEP the fake server.
3. In MemMaid or other task manager (there are free ones, I believe, if you search) open up the notification queue look for "repllog.exe". There should be three instances of it. Delete the one that says "AppRunAfterTimeChange."
Hope this works, and, yes, it is ridiculous that you have to go to such lengths for something so simple. This is why I love Windows Mobile

[SKIN] iClicker for Salling Clicker [VGA SKIN!]

This is a work in progress, FOR VGA ONLY, as I have no way to test on any other device.
I've really didnt care for the interface of Salling Clicker, its truly a pain to use on my Touch Pro, and the buttons are tiny for the touch screen, resulting in having to use the dirrections keys to Play, Pause, Skip, not a problem, but finger friendly would be nice. I edited the bitmap resources in the EXE, thats why the file is an EXE, I don't know how to compile CAB files and the like, installation is easy. Copy the exe onto your storage card and drag into the Salling clicker folder in the program files folder. DONE! You may have to soft reset your device in order to successfully move, seems its protected if your using it, go figure. I was attempting to make it more finger friendly, and I did manage to make the buttons twice as big, which helped a little but the background on the navigation bar stopped working leaving me with a blue bottom, so I need to figure out why that is. Pictures are below, Id like to know if anyone knows how to enable finger scrolling as the program does not support it as of yet. Thanks for looking!
Update: I resized all the buttons so that they are now much easier to use on a vga device, or at least my Touch Pro, so the Diamond should work the same way, and anything with a VGA Resolution. There is still a bit of a problem with the back drop for the bottom bar, as well as transparency seems to have disappeared all together with the larger buttons, so it is in fact alot easier to use but, the bottom bar is a bit unsightly, so if anyone has any ideas of how to correct this let me know, I am putting up the new files for anyone to test. I plan to sharpen them later when I have time, as I have been busy at work lately its been hard to get around to it. Also it seems the "Menu Back Button stays on the front page, which Im not sure, I think I may have overwritten the dimmer one signifiying that it was unavailable, I will have to dump the resources again to make sure. Also the buttons seem a little smashed together, and being on a Mac doing all this isnt making the solutions to these problems all that easy lol. Thanks again for looking.

I'm still working on the button issues, I resized them, but the background would disappear when I did, so I havent quite figure it out as of yet. Sorry for the miscommunication. it does however seem that the bigger the button, the actual area that the bottom appears is larger as well, everything else moves up, so it auto resizes itself. As i dont know anything about programming it maybe the the background moves up as well.

hmm. well, i can try to open the exe in VS2k8 and see if i can manage something..

Yeah I'd been waiting for it as well, it seems they stopped development to a degree, maybe they just ran into the issue I ran into lol probably not though, but the navigation bar does resize itself so the coding has to be there, its just the background turns to an god awful blue lol. I'd be very great ful for your help, I posted it up to see if anyone would help me out with it. Thanks! I used Res Hacker on my Macbook Pro, Crossover thankfully ran it fine.
