Is there any application to provide some missing call notification (no sound notify).
Maybe flash the screen decently (brightness level 1 and 0)?
Hi,
The LED is not missing: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=458876. It's just incredibly small

same outcome ;-)
there is an app for WM6 Smartphone.
Might it work on touchscreen devices too?

Hi,
why not automatically adjust the universal's background light by its light sensor? I suppose this must be possible (ok, only in "notebook mode", not in "PDA mode"). Or is the information given by the sensor binary: "dark" / "bright"?
I would highly appreciate if the device's display would shine bright in the sunshine and dimmed at night. I'm not a windows mobile developer, but I believe this feature should be possible.
Best regards,
tomestos
The backlight makes almost no difference at all when the device is in direct sunlight... It would be really nice to have the backlight dim a little in dark surroundings though. As far as I know the light sensor on the phone is only 'dark', 'light', but even that is fairly useful.
Is the sensor in the registry anywhere and can its values be edited? I find it doesnt come on in low ambient light enviroments when it would be usefull.

I'm interested in it, too! It's would be beautiful, if the sensor switches between light and dark! But I didn't find s.th. in the registry at all!
I had found s.th in the registry like that: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Backlight\AutoSensor
Perhaps it will be helpful for the project
The HP Jornada 928 had such a sensor to control the backlighting, and I found it invaluable - especially in an open top sports car.
However, a manager for their UK support centre told me that they got so many complaints about it (or user problems with it) that they removed it from later/Compaq models.

Not true... My old HP hx4700 still had this feature. And indeed, it is indispensible. Very handy when checking your stuff in the open air. Only downside is when you have a shadow cast over your PDA (say: a window stile or something). Then it would brighten and darken, depending on whether or not the shadow obscured the sensor or not.
On second thoughts: I can imagine where the support calls were coming from...
Nobody an idea?
Hi everybody,
I want to bump this topic up, cause there are so many possibilities in a usable light sensor.
For example, i have found an alarm clock, that can go to "snooze mode" if it senses, that lamp in its ambience has been turned on.
And so on, and so on...
So how to read out from the Windows kernel the state of the light sensor??
DOMy
Hey, aren't there any developers??
Pease, couldn't we solve the problem of accessing to the lightsensor?

Anybody know how to stop the bluetooth and network active blinking lights but still have the radios be active? Maybe a registry tweak or something?
Thanks...
I would also be interested in this if anyone knows...

That would be neat.
I was wondering myself whether anything could be done to make the lights slowly fade in and out. That would be such a cool effect -- and less annoying that the blinking flash. Imagine an app that allows the user to set a variable flash/fade rate. Sweet!
(Not sure it's possible with the existing hardware inside the Wizard. I'm not an electrical guy, but wouldn't some sort of relay be required for a fade effect?)

As a former electrical guy, I can tell you the kind of hardware you would need to fade in and out is probably not part of the circuitry. The best you can probably hope for is to stop the cellular (and maybe bluetooth) radio indicators from blinking at you ceaselessly. For my own part, I happen to LIKE the fact that my wizard blinks orange at me when I have missed calls, messages, etc. but I too would love to kill the other blinkers.
I found this, but the referenced registry marker is not present on my machine:

Hi there, I have readed about idea of programmed blinking of status LEDs arond of the sensor ring, but there was no more answers for that. So I think that it will be really nice and cool when they will flash every ~3-4sec. or just when the signal is avalible. Its nice when sms/call is on and its a bit pitty that its not usable for something another this time. Can anyone programm it ? Or any ideas around ?
I have already raised a request for this...still looking for a software that executes such a program.
It would be great to have such a program for our very own diamond.
Please guys make such a software.
+1 Yeah every other windows mobile has a notification LED. Cant anyone be kind and interested enough to make it?? This would make my diamond more lovable
+1
that would be cool! also a indicator for wifi and bluetooth would be nice!
Hi, today, I have downloaded the app. called TouchLockPro and there is one function what allows blinking of LED's ! wOw ! But it blinks just when is the display ON, so we need it blinking when he is OFF, but this is nice step forward. >Link for this APP.<
Hi,
I have 2 issues with the TP2...
a) Keyboard Light - can it be set to a different value? Seems it is set to around 10 sec - tried Advanced Config..but that doesnt seem to work..also cudn't find anything in the Registry yet.
b) LED - the LED only seems to work during charging(Red/Green solid) = any program/Registry hack to use the LED for other Options (eg "new Mail" = Red blinking)?
Hope someone has the same issues and found a solution already
Thanks!
Regarding the notification light, you should RTFM. You don't need a hack. By default the notification light will blink green for missed calls, new SMS, and new emails. It'll blink amber for low battery warning.
Yea I would like the keyboard to stay lit longer as well. For the LED notifications make sure you select the "flash light for" in the sounds & notifications settings.
But it will not blink when there is missed call or sms when you are charging the phone though.
I don't have that problem with my previous X1.
LED & Keyboard Light
Hi Guys,
thanks a lot - stupid oversight of mine in reg to the LED
However still looking for the Keyboard Light..I used Advanced Config and set it to 30 sec..but that doesn't seem to work.
Also looked into the Registry but cudn't find anything related there as well.....
Cheers!
What are the reg entries for the LED lights? I would like diff colors as well
yes me too. please post your solution
I doubt the registry will give you different colour apart from the green, amber & red. It's a hardware thing.

Thats what I meant, different colors for different notifications

I guess its too bad then that the manual doesnt say this functionality is BROKEN.
i had to turn it off as it would continue to blink even after I cleared the notifications.

I've searched and searched for a tweak or mod for that - I would MUCH prefer it blink for alerts / notifications, even when connected. Mine usually sits in the cradle when at home. If the LED blinked for missed calls / messages while in the cradle, I could see that at a glance from across the room, rather than going to it and looking at the screen.
Is there a tweak or mod to force the LED to blink, regardless of connection state? I don't care what color.
Thanks, Folks!

guys google nueLed that might work its an old program that controls the Led in many ways
I've seen references to nueLED, but also read of several issues with it on the newer devices (TP2s in particular.) I'll do some searching later today and see if I can come up with a later version and/or higher confidence level that it won't give me problems.
Thanks for the suggestion! Anybody else?
Well, I managed to do a bit of research about NueLED today. I keep finding too many comments in various threads on various forums that mention problems, particularly on TP2s and even more particularly with WM6.5. Perhaps most are overblown - I honestly don't know. But it's enough to give me pause. Above all else, I need to keep Touchie as stable as he is currently. That said...
Can anybody confirm that NueLED works reliably on the T7373 w/ WM6.5 (official HTC SEA ROM update) with no instability or quirks?
Beyond that, can somebody confirm that NueLED provides an option for the notification LED to blink even when connected to power? That is really my only interest. I'm fine with the current setup & colors, but would like the LED to blink for an alert when the device is in the cradle.
Thanks, as always, for the help and suggestions!
Hi guys, i don't know about you, but the only thing that annoys me about our beloved Desire is its tiny-nigh-invisible notification led. Aside from the very short blinking time (which can be tweaked), if the phone is charging it simply doesn't show anything when a new sms/email/whatever is received, as the led is in his fixed orange state. I come from a Hero and used to LOVE the blinking trackball..while i find it pretty darn stupid that HTC did not include a simple led in the Desire trackball, i realized that in theory we could achieve a pretty decent result by using the backlighting of the 4 hard keys, making them blink when necessary...Now my knowledge of linux, android etc is pretty limited, so i'm asking to whomever will listen , can it be done? Since the backlight appears to be triggered by the ambient light sensor, i realize it might not be that easy...any thoughts?
Very Nice Idea!
But is it possible? I also would like to know..............

What trackball would that be, because the Desire doesn't have one!
That little "hole" in the optical trackpad *is* the optical trackpad, so they couldn't put an LED in it.

Dave
Would be cool if that backlight for the hardware keys could be configured to change colour for SMS/Mail/Call so it would work even in low light conditions where it is lit white...
Yeah, far fetched, I know. The LED colour notifications is something I miss from my older routine immensely.

Yeah i meant trackpad but wrote trackball. I guess they could have put a series of leds around it in a circle or whatever, you get the idea, that's not the point
Another similar idea I have is to use the camera flash for notifications.
Any thoughts about that?
Might be possible even for non rooted devices like my own.
