I've just noticed that www.facebook.com is redirecting to m.facebook.com. It didn't used to do this. I'm using Opera. How do I stop this? I want to see the full facebook version.

I edited opera:settings so it doesn't identify as a mobile browser anymore.
You have to change HTC_TOUCH_HD_8282 (Opera WinCE... etc.) to something else.
Lol, still can't remember the name of the setting, it's an identifier for sure... help me out..
oh i see... i think i changed that setting in opera config so that i could view the bbc iplayer. maybe i should change it back.
edit - no, deleting shg-i900 from the custom user agent in opera:config didn't fix it. this must be something facebook has change recently. when i bought the phone i was able to see the full facebook site by clicking on the link in favorites.
It's usually called the User Agent - I need to pick up my Touch HD from where it's been delivered, so can't help you out with the exact name that Opera uses right now...

If I click on a link in an email or via RSS, Internet Explorer always opens up.
I've spent some time using the search tool on here to try and find an answer, but I still can't get it to play ball.
Is it possible and if so can someone please explain?
Thanks

Hey, I've had this exact problem, I fixed it by typing OPERA:CONFIG into the URL bar in opera and hitting GO. NHow, in the options you'll see INSTALL... click on it and hit the default button. it promps that you may have to restart, so reset the phone, then try your RSS when you turn on again. All should be well!
Good luck!

This didn't do it for me. Any other ideas?

did you install another browser such as skyfire before then uninstalled it? upon uninstall of third party browser, they will revert back to IE, not the previous value before install (which should be opera.
i fixed mine a while ago using a bunch of registry edits. but i dont' remember where exactly. you need to go to \windows\ and locate the IE's file name, such as iexplorer.exe or ie.exe. whatever it is. then search for that in the registry, whenever you see that, change it to operal.exe (or whatever the opera executable is called, it's also under\windows\)
let me know if it works for you
had exactly the same problem after trying skyfire and uninstalling. the opera fix mentioned doesn't work... looks pretty, asks for a reboot but IE still runs up.
somewhere around this point my list of RSS feeds got wiped... no idea why. hmm.
thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2360767&postcount=16 doesn't work either.
suggests changing Default Browser key:
HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Shell/Rai/: DEFBROWSER/1 to operal.exe from iexplore.exe
no joy still.
however changing in same place, MSPIE: to operal.exe and then doing a reboot works.
may not be the perfect way to do this but Google Maps and RSS Reader now use Opera as wanted.

Default reinstating Opera Mobile as a default browser
Tested and works as a charm
COPYASTE from http://discuss.pocketnow.com/showthread.php?t=25285
"You can actually reinstate Opera Mobile as the default browser (PIE would have been made the default browser if you had installed another browser such as Skyfire or Iris, and uninstalled them subsequently).
Launch Opera Mobile manually via Start Menu > Programs. In the address bar, enter "opera:config" and go to the page. The "Preferences Editor" page will be shown. Scroll down until you see "Install". Tap on it to expand the section. Enable the tickbox for "Browser First Time Launch", then tap "Save".
You have now reinstated Opera Mobile as the default browser.

Splendid, works after soft reset.
Regards,
Tick box, Save, Soft reset.
Not working for me - I still have sux0r PIE when I follow links fom other apps :-(
I've tried it with and without pushing the 'default' button next to the checkbox. Anyone know what that button's for? I also tried the registry hax... but with no joy.
Spotted an updated ROM on the HTC site and installed it. Technically not a fix, I know, but based on how the dev guys at work do stuff... it still counts ;-)
a bit drastic as a fix.
the opera fix didn't work for me, asked for soft rest, and did all the necessary things but no joy.
changing the MSPIE registry entry did though , and has been fine since.
Ever since using Opera 10 whenever I load a site for the first time I get the message "502 bad gateway"
If I then refresh the page then it loads fine
Anyone else with this problem or any solutions?
Does this happen when you attempt to load a particular website?
Has this problem occured only today, or does it happen all the time?
A 502 Bad Gateway error is usually a network error between servers on the Internet, meaning that its possible that this problem is not with your HD or Internet connection.

This problem started ever since installing Opera 10 weeks ago. It is the same for all sites I go on (even the google search bar) - but again only for the first load, refreshing always loads the page correctly. Then all the following sites on that tab work ok, however if I then open a new tab the problem occurs again on the new tab until page refreshed

I'm not sure if this will resolve your problem, but you can try the following:
1. Open Opera browser.
2. Go to Settings.
3. Select the Advanced option and make sure the Set Opera as default browser checkbox is selected.

I just realised that, i'm using 9.7
Try the following using a Registry Editor:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\: DEFBROWSER
"0"=Opera Browser
"1"="\Program Files\Opera Mobile 10\Opera10-armv4i.exe"
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\http\Shell\Open\Command\Default
"\Program Files\Opera Mobile 10\Opera10-armv4i.exe" %1

Shame... have you tried re-installing the Opera application to see if that makes any difference? does IE react the same when you launch its browser?

Have tried internet explorer and that works fine

I get this same error, but if I turn off 'Opera Turbo' the error disappears. Strangely Opera Mini (which I thought used the same page compression techniques) does not have this problem - and is so much faster at loading pages too.
Turning off Opera Turbo is my solution!
Hi. I have the exact same problem, did anyone find a solution?
Turning Opera Turbo on or off doesn't make any difference for me.
Woke up this morning and facebook is now automatically directing me to the mobile site using opera 9.7, never happened before today and Id much prefer the real site!
anyone else experiencing this or is it just my device??
I have the same problem. Boring.
Opera is doing the same thing with the BBC website as well and I have to scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the link to the desktop version. Very annoying.
yep same thing happening to me in the last couple of days.
build 35964
same in opera 10... looks like they found a way to detect the phone
they could at least have made it the touch site...
yeah noticed this yesterday, slight annoying as i prefer the desktop version.
i have the same problem :S
You can press the "To access the main site, click here" link at the top and bookmark it, or for the touch site click the link at the bottom
or change your user agent so that opera reports itself as a desktop browser.
i had the same problem,i just bookmarked the news feed page with my it set to remember login details.problem solved
this worked for me on the bbc site, go to opera:config and then user prefs and untick the box for UAProf Enabled. Save and reload the site to see if that works.
I agree...did the same thing you did and then made the quick link on my today page..works like a charm every time!
All my webpages are showing in mobile view. I have looked all through the settings and cannot find the option to make everything show up like I am on a PC.
Does anyone know if this can be done, I have been able to do this on my previous HTC phones. I have loaded Dolphin Browser HD and Xscope but they still both also show some pages in mobile view.
Thanks.
I have the same problem
I've tried every thing to and it won't disable mobile views anyone have ideas
After playing with different settings in multiple browsers, if you download xscope browser and tell it your an ipad it makes everything show up correctly. I tried desktop view in that browser but some things still came up as mobile view.
Egads, this is my #1 annoyance. although this is a Google thing and not Samsung, per se. HTC Sense however has an option in the browser settings to disable mobile view pages from coming up (doesn't disable WAP capability though so you can still open a wap page manually).
i tried the manual method where you enter that debug command in the address bar and then go into the settings where you can change it from mobile to desktop (and iphone lol) views and other phones the 'desktop' view takes care of it, but i tried it on the Vibrant and then it renders the browser unusable until you reset the browser.
I came to this site to post about this but someone beat me to it. I hope there is a solution out there. I also think its really stupid that these websites think they need to show android phones their mobile views.
Maybe someone can push one of the other ROM's browser .apk to this phone. The browser on the rom I'm using has an option in the settings to change your User Agent.
Hey guys/gals, try something out for me (I don't have a V so I can't)
Open up your stock browser.
Type “about:debug” in the address line and press enter. (No quotations)
Hit “menu” and then select “Settings.”
You should now see all kind's of debugging settings including "UA String"
Click that and select "Desktop"
Let us know if it worked
Thanks!
Doesn't do anything.

AFter typing about:debug in the browser address window you have to press menu, then settings and then go down to the bottom and look for UAstring. That is how it works on the Nexus. I don't have a Vibrant yet either but it is on the way.

May be Sammy did something to the Browser app... can we get few more confirmations that it in fact does not work?
Other solution could be to rip out Browser.apk out of CM 2.1 rom and try installing or ADB pushing it to the system.

How do you reset the browser? Ugh
After changing my UAString to Desktop, Browser did nothing but FC on start, I had to push a default version of Browser back to the phone and reset the settings.

Since I'm not using ADB, I used terminal to copy the Browser.apk from the Vibrant dump.
install busybox
cp /sdcard/Browser.apk /system/app/Browser.apk

I suppose. Idk, coming from the Mytouch, I'm used to wiping and formating and reinstalling and wiping and resetting things so many times testing the new roms that I'm used to it. May wanna try Titanium Backup first, I suppose.

The only wish that I have with Honeycomb web browser is ability to change USER AGENT STRING. That's all I want.
I know, there is that about:debug trick, but it does not stick and we must do it again and again. Even does not work on certain website.
So, Google ... please please please add this!
Don't force me to use Dolphin
Is there anyway to edit the ".apk" and make it permanent change An idea for hacker with root.

My user agent string has never changed back, what are you talking about?
The reason some sites come up mobile is because they match on the word Android instead of mobile. Websites are to blame, not google in this case.
i swear Androidcentral took my blog story!

Create a book mark to about:config on your home screen. All you do is click the shortcut then hit the go button in the URL bar.
I tried with my Nexus S and browse to Facebook.com (full site).
It worked for a while, but then went back to Touch.Facebook.com.
Because of this, I am using Dolphin Mini which has option to browse as desktop browser. Problem solved.
