Power off during activesync - XPERIA X1 General

Hi everyone,
There is something strange going with my X1 (WiMo 6.1). While i have my phone connected to my pc for a sync the phone switches off after 30/40 seconds when i do not touch the screen...
This behavour is new and i don't know to get it back to the before state that is during a sync or being connected to the pc the phone does not switch off...
Is there a setting to change this?

Does it go off completely?
does it vibrate and shows Xperia Logo @ SE logo when turning it on again?
if not, then it might be only standby mode, where the mobile is still functional but turns off the LCD for power saving, a small press of the power button will turn it on again.

It does not reset, but just powers down. Goes off. It looses the active sync connection and when you switch it back on it has to regain the active sync connection. Wich is wvery annoiing because you have to keep tickling the X1 to stay alive when you want copy some data to the device...
Any idea how to change that behavour??

was it like this the first moment you tried to sync it? or it started behaving like this? if it wasn't, then it might be a software you installed.
if you can try to hard reset (make sure you backup your mobile) then try to sync.
i think there is some conflict between active sync and another software.

Is this 30/40 seconds timeout your normal timeout for going standby?
If so, maybe the setting in "Settings - System - Power" to not charge the X1 when connected to a PC is active.

Hello,
I had the same problems, wheter using active sync or usb, and even more.
No usb connection, the display did not dimm - it went directly to standby - cutting all the connections (wifi etc). I did not find out, but I think it was some programm I intalled, after a hard reset and only installing what I think what I really need, no problems anymore.

Intermittent "Device Not Recognized"

Hi
I have an Orange SPV M5000 with the original rom installed. However, on average every 3 out of 4 times I connect the device to my computer a balloon pops up saying "USB Device Not Recognized" and the device does nto synchronize. However if I continuously unplug and plug the device back in every 10 seconds, eventuallly it will work. I have ActiveSync 4.1 and Windows XP Pro SP2 installed on my computer.
Is there any way I can fix this problem or is there something wrong with my PC, rom or hardware? I notice that when I plug the usb into the device the charge light comes on, but sometimes will go out again just after 2 or 3 seconds and not come back on.
Many thanks
Ash
I find less errors by connecting the device with it initially switched OFF.
But really, activesync sucks.
I agree with belfast-biker. Make sure when you plug it in that the HTC Universal is OFF. If you do plug it while it is ON, just press the power button to turn it OFF and wait a minute or two then press it again to turn it ON. Your computer will now recognize your device.

Now this particular problem of yours, I have not encountered. In my EXEC, if I plug mine while it is ON, I will get the message "Device not recognize", but my EXEC would still charge, indicated by the orange light and it won't turn to green untill fully charge. But the light is always ON as long as it is connected to my computer.

Totally agree - I also find that I have less problems (not that it's gone away totally) now that I have switched off the "Turn off device if not used for"... in the Power | Advanced tab.
Cheers,
Steve.
spv m5000
I have the same issue.
Wonder if this is M5000 ROM Only? any O2 machines ?
Same problem with O2 Exec...
Same problem with jasjar, and if you check the backlight sometimes turns on without any apparent reason... I think it's beacause stuff in the notification queue...
I had this problem with my Exec and I just reinstalled ActiveSync over itself and it hasn't happened since.

My device randomly turns its screen on whilst charging

I've got a Universal with all the default ROMs and whatnot. I plug it into my PC overnight to charge. I have it set so that the backlight turns off after 5 minutes when connected to external power, and it normally does so. However, it seems like it turns itself on again at random points (it does turn itself off again). I cannot discern what it is that is causing it to turn on, the only relevant thing I have running is ActiveSync and it isn't busy syncing.
Has anyone got a clue why it might do this?
mine will switch on when it's downloading e-mails.
ActiveSync wakes the PDA up at regular intervals to see if it needs to sync, its something you have to live with.
in power settings, the default is to turn on while being charged
have alook at power management in settings

Need app to force device goes to sleep

For an unkouwn reason my device wont't go sleep when I push the power buton. also after some time of connection (3-4 minutes) the screen goes blank and don't respont until I plug the power or a usb cable connected with the computer.
To use it I need a soft. that force the hermes go to sleep.
Do you know any?
Thanks

Weird Activesync Problem...

This happens when my jade is connected to pc via activesync...
Aftersome time, when there is no data transfer between pc and jade, it gets disconnected automatically
Jade keeps charging and the screen light remains dimmed... Is this normal
In the power settings (start/settings/advanced tab) there is an option for 'on external power'. Check the value for 'turn off device if not used for:' option.
Hi Thanks for reply..
But as i said before the phone doesnt go on standby, screen remains dimmed and the value set is 30 min....
There's something else :S

display turns on and off

Hi all,
5 days ago I've updated my phone. Now I'm experiencing a strange problem. My phone turns the display on without any reason! This happens when the phone is attacched to my pc, when it's beeing charged or when it's in stand-by, in other words EVERYTIME! Some time this problem doesn't occur, the phone stays in stand-by, but I can't identify what is the relation...
I tried to downgrade by reflash the firmware to the old version... NO LUCK!
I tought it could be a problem (bug) with notification... but right now my phone is clean, no app, no contacts, no accounts, no calendar, NOTHING!
What can I do?
I've got the same problem. When I plug into laptop I cannot turn off phone. After push the power button more than 15sec, on display shows "Goodbay" and after few seconds phone turns on a starts up.
I think that it must be it. This is not problem ora nay damage of phone but maybe little bugs in system software. Don't worry

Well, when the phone is plugged in to a pc or during the charge, you CAN'T turns it off! That's because the software must manage the charging process.
The strange part is that I did NOTHING to my phone (except the update but now I just rolled back), so I don't understand what is the difference from before!
I think I'll send my phone to the repair center... at least it's still under warranty...
cheers
