Dear wizard owners - could you please check how this call recording software works on your device.
http://1800message.com/default.aspx
in the end of that page there is a link for PMRecorder - there is cab file for it.
1) is it working in general?
2) does it record two parties well if used without headset?
3) does it record two parties if bluetooth headset is used?
4) what is quality of recording.
I am thinking to moving from jam to wizard or prophet only becouse of that software.
gluhov: if you're prepared to move phones for this feature, consider the gigabyte phones.
V
please give a link for that phone

PMRecorder does work well however you have to have all your conversations in speakerphone mode to pickup the person talking on the other end. The website says this is a limitation by the manufacturer (although not sure if the mean the HTC's, MS or the OEMs)
Cheers
Excellent review of the GigaByte:
http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/articles.php?action=expand,46925
Not sure if it's available yet, but I wants it!
V
WOW!!
I wants it too - I'm beginning to think the Wiz is a bit of a dead loss anyway
You can't beat an old 6310i as a phone
The Gigabyte phone has got all the functions that the Wiz is missing - and look at that camera !!!
Offtopic:
And the TV I think I'll wait for one as well. I need to upgrade in the next few months. I'm thinking either Atom or Gigabyte. But the Giga looks very very nice software wise. Don't like the styling much.. but the features Would be nice to get a rom dump of that. Oh, I think I've got one somewhere...

gluhov: If you are considering the gigabyte for the call recording, on reading the review it looks like it may have the same functionality as PMRecorder. As it says "you can record your own telephone conversations", I would clarification of what is meant by "your own conversations" To me this sounds like one sided recording, although i presume the speaker method would work here as well.
However it is a nicely feature packed device, i wouldnt mind getting my hands on one myself although i think i have gotten used to the Wizards keyboard and (slowish) speed now. I just want my A2DP!!!
Cheers
The recorder in the 'notes' application will happily record both sides as well - the other side will be a bit noisier/fainter, but unless you're recording for criminal evidence, that shouldn't be a problem. ( And keep in mind that many countries have laws prohibiting conversation recording unless you make this explicitly clear to the other side )
As for the Gigabyte - looks nice, specs-wise. However - no Edge? So definitely no UMTS/HSDPA. Not a huge loss, perhaps, but if you're aiming for the future anyway, it might be worth waiting for whatever they'll come out with next?
Guys - lets stop talking about these gygobyte.
PLEASE TEST THAT APLICATION AND ANSWER MY QUESTION - that will really help.

Gigabyte (Around US$700)and Atom (US$750) already for sales in Hong Kong for a while.
The REAL device of gigabyte is suck I'm sorry to tell you that.
The TV function ONLY support NTSC and which doesn't support PAL as they have mention. And the screen is too small. And there is serveral problem awaiting to fix.
1. Bluetooth A2DP issue. Auto disconnect once the device screen is off.
2. If incoming call pop up, if your didn't recived the call. The "incoming call" screen still there, even the other side already drop the line.
3. When open the function inside the phone. the device Vol will auto turn to silent. even no vibrate.
4.The camera is RED. Outdoor/ Indoor. All photo seems auto in RED tune.
New rom been release in Early Feb. But same problem still found.
And Atom is keep fixing their probelm. They are like haven't more than
one updat per month. And the device now is very smooth today. But I think there must be more update coming very soon.

of course i read it.

it doesn't record incoming audio. you'd have to get a htc typhoon(i think) smartphone device to do this.

Doesn't work on my Wizard (Vario)

Yes I am. I actually e-mailed the company about this awhile back and heres what they told me.
"Techsupport to me 12/27/05
The Wizard does not support the dual audio path. the HTC Tornado and Cingular 2125 both support it, but the PPC Wizard does not. Sorry about that. It is a hardware limitation on the device.

hmm.
if you use speacker phohe - will it help to record second part or not?
Becouse on magician if you use it everything is recorded very well.
Nope, it just records my voice. The other's voice is very faint audible when set to speaker mode, but certainly not loud en clear enough to understand.
I have a Wizard and use PMRecorder. Although the other party is faint on a recording it is possible to hear and understand them.

Hi,
here is the new Version 2.3
wfg
Starbase64
Won't work on a lot of devices. Can't record directly from the radio.
what devices does this work with? does the answerphone work silently by intercepting the audio stream of the call. I though this couldn't be done.
If it can be done. How!! Could have lots of fun with this feature
Has anybody testet this on a TyTn II ?
this software ask me for the netCF.. where can i get NetCF?
Tried the newest version 3 on Trinity and it does not work. It cannot play the outgoing message. I hope they can get this working on Trinity.
Not workin'
It's not workin' on my Universal WM5, i unzipped the folder, double-clicked on .exe file, nothin' happens.
After some testing I can say its working fine on my Hermes.
Recording quality is pretty good and it's customizable.
The call being receveid and recorded can be heard trough inner or outer speaker of the pda.
The pda microphone is switched off excepting for the first seconds while your message is played back to the caller.
I'm using iSecretary 3.0... you can find it here.

You mean that you can still record with good quality even when not in speakerphone mode, i.e. the software doesn't depend on the microphone picking up the call from the loudspeaker? If that's the case then the developer deserves the Nobel Price! Up until now everyone(?) have thought that this was impossible due to hardware limitations in the Hermes and almost all other PPC phones from HTC.

I downloaded the version 3 as well, installed the cab. I don't know why the f**k, it ain't workin' on my Universal WM5, even though it mentions clearly in this website, that it's compatible with WM5.
Any suggestions ?
P.S what is Compact FrameWork v2 mentioned on that website ? Is that .NET Framework, anyone with the link ?
Agreed..

I truly agree on that, that is why i really wanna try this application. B'cuz, as far as we know, the hardware of WM phones ain't compatible to record sounds from microphone. Same is the case with Call Recorder.
got it running on the herald without issues.....nice app although I still wish I could get the Answering Machine from the stealth....but like someone said before I thought this could not be done with HTC devices so I'm happy anyway
Does it do as I suspect and just put the call audio to the speakerphone and then record that via the microphone?

yeah, absolutely pal. It's like the answerin' machine in symbian phones. The only difference is that, speakerphone is a compulsion(or a limitation) here, b'cuz of hardware incompatibility.

WOW is work on my HTC Touch!!! I'm using iSecretary 3.0 is wayyy better then the old vers.........
if they make play message easy i will buy right away!!
I couldnt get iSecretary to work on my Kaiser (Tytn II) i mean it would run but when people would call in they could not hear the voice message.
4.4 wont work on my jasjar
Why I Secretary can’t mute the microphone of my xperia x1 and why the caller can’t hear my answer message
How can I fix this using registry or any tweak tool for windows mobile 6.1
thanks
does anyone know why skype doesnt work on Ppc
What's your device? OS?
And what about Skype version?
I've got a Cruise and WM6 and Skype 2.2.0.37 works fine.
@+
I have titan and I used 6 & 6.1 wm and no worky
I have it working on WM6 on a Himalaya. How did you install it?
It seems to have trouble installing via cab and needs to be installed using the exe via Activesync (though I am sure there is a way to do it via a cab).
Perhaps you installed it to ramdisk and when your battery goes flat you've lost part of it?
Give us a bit more information of what part exactly isn't working.
Does it install or not?
Does it not launch when you click on it on your PPC?
Which version are you using?
etc
when i make a call i cant hear anyone and they cant hear me and i nstalled with active and cab both dont work
I have a Sprint Mogul also know as HTC TITAN PPC6800 and I just downloaded the SKYPE cab file for pocket pc from the SKYPE.com website and it works perfectly on my phone. I have been using it for over 4 months nows!
Clicking/Skipping during Echo123 call
Hey All--
I've had a Sprint Mogul for about 6 months now--just upgraded to the latest official EV-DO Rev.A ROM, and things seemed to be working a bit better for me (particularily battery-wise, the latest ROM seems to be a little more energy efficient).
So, I felt brave, and decided to give Skype a go. I've been waiting to look into it to fully utilize the WiFi with Skype--cheap and/or free calls from any free hotspot? yes please.--and finally installed the latest available version from the Skype website (can't rememebr the rev #--whatever the website recommends). Of course, it installs, and even calls the Echo123 number, but no sound.
Did a little more research, and found that it's the earlier betas (2.2.0.20 and 2.2.0.18) that seem to be working for people (apparently with mixed with results--some people say the sound quality is awful, some say it works like a charm).
I uninstalled the most recent Skype from the phone, powered down, and then I tried 2.2.0.20 beta--and lo and behold, I was able to hear and record from echo123, but there was a crackling noise (like a CD skipping) any time there was sound coming across the speakers (this is using both the loudspeaker and the included wired headset, also happeded on WiFi or EV-DO, with and without echo correction).
I then uninstalled 2.2.0.20 beta, powered down, and then tried 2.2.0.18. Exact same problem. The sound of my voice coming back on echo123 was actually slightly better than my regular phone; it's just that crcackling that I'm sure will drive me crazy and make the program unuseable.
Has anyone gotten Skype to work on the Mogul without that CD skip sound? I've read through all the forums here, on PPC Geeks, and SprintUsers, and have yet to find anyone definitifely getting great results who can explain how they got there. Is there some other codec or driver that I need to replace? Is there a certain kitchen ROM that will enable Skype to work?
Failing that, is there another program that I can use to make calls for free without having to sign up with an SIP? I also tried fring, but it didn't have any sound on the echo call either, just like the most recent Skype download. Any other suggestions? Seems like things like Octrotalk and SJphone al require setting up some sort of server, which might be fun, but don't really have the time or resources for right now.
I'm leaving for vacation in a few days, and would love to figure this out before I went...any help? Thanks...

Why don't you try FRING?
It can manage Msn, Yahoo, Skype and other SIP accounts.....
PS: It works correctly on my Touch.....
More updates
Well, I've been searching around, and it looks like WM6 doesn't natively handle VOIP (check this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299950)
I'm going to try to install these dlls and see how far I get...
Otherwise, I have tried fring, and excitingly, everything worked just fine in googletalk (actually the sound quality I got was *better* than a regular cell call)--except that the person I was talking to couldn't hear me. I could chat though, so at least we could communicate. Similarily, skype through fring to echo123 did not work--I connected, but no sound came through my mike.
I also tried a straight up Skype call (using the 2.2.0.18 beta), however the results were very disappointing. Sound had lots of skips, clicks, slowdowns. Don't see how it would be useful, and certainly not worth paying for.
Also installed Octrotalk--but was surprised to see no talk protocols in the program, just chat stuff through AIM, Yahoo, MSN, etc. Also, the soft buttons (the two screen buttons usually on the left and right of the bottom) seem to be unlabelled--I can press them, but there's not text on them, so I didn't even think they were there at first. A bad install? Maybe my Java is outdated?
Anyway, the search continues...
Hi all.
I am new to this forum and have spent a few hours looking at some of the the threads here and reading about kitchens and baking, flashing ROMs, etc, and have become a bit scared to venture in.
All I am after is a SIP VoIP client to install on my HTC Touch Cruise (running WM6).
Can anybody help point me in the right direction and what cab file/s I need to install.
I want to steer clear of flashing ROMs.
Thanks.

Hum, just a question: does you software provide voip audio from the right ear front speaker? If so you've found a new customer!
I (and probably everyone else making VoIP apps) wish it did - That would sure be a killer feature! We made the earphone speaker run on a few Sharp WM devices in Japan in the past because Sharp let us know the "DeviceIOControl" address of those devices. HTC on the other hand is as silent as can be and doesn't even react to our inquiries. But even if we knew the address it would result in a different version for each device as the address is very likely always a different one. So unless the phone supports switching in hardware (like a very few do) to begin with there is nothing that we (or anybody else) can do about the situation. We are working on proper bluetooth support though and hope that this can at least remedy the situation a little.

Your first sentence was very odd. Maybe it's an XDA joke, but I'm sorry, I didn't get it.
One thing from your website about the software, does it support G729 codec?
No joke intended.. blame my non native English for any oddities ;-) As for G.729 - yes, it can be integrated into the softphone and no, you can't use it without license rights and fees as the consortium holding the codec rights is not a merciful one.
Can anyone tell me if any of the available VoIP solutions available for WM6 will allow me to make and receive calls using my existing cell number? I know TMobile has this ability on a few of there phones.
Thanks,
mr.ellsworth
No solution to the last problem, but going back to the initial question: We have just released AGEphone Mobile 2.5 Speakerphone Edition which supports the internal speaker on some select models (more to follow!).
I was wondering if anyone knows a fully compatible VOIP Service that will run perfectly on the titan?
I've tried skype, but when making calls, they cant hear you can you cant hear them. Beta version trick of skype (2.2.0.18/20) do not work on WM6.1. I've also tried Fring, but while you can hear people talking to you, they can not hear you talk to them (mic issue). I looked all over the net for a fix to this issue but none have been found.
I've only been using skype for a week and all the hype about it being the coolest voip service is quickly fading.....
So I was hoping someone could point me to a fully compatible with the titan VOIP service that runs perfectly.
I'm running DCD's 3.2.6 rom.
Thanks

I Think so
Me Too...
I would be interested in an answer to this question as well. I have unlimited EVDO coverage, so using the service over the network is not a problem for me.
You could try this :
http://www.ageet.com/us/products-agephone-mobile.htm
You need your own voip provider. I use http://les.net
Quality is so-so... Choppy audio... But maybe I haven't tried hard enough, there are lots of tweaks that can be done within the application.
Also, skype 2.1.0.66 works really well on DCD 3.2.0
cheers!
i guess a new version of skype was just released that works with the Mogul/Titan in WM6.1 and has audio!
Voip
As noted above, the latest skype mobile (version 2.5.0.108 BETA) will work on the mogul, but still uses the rear speaker.
I have also had some luck with installing WM6Voip.cab and SeuopVoip_v0.3.cab, and configuring the SIP to work with my provider (which is InterVoip). When I use this method, instead of showing Sprint on the dialpad it shows InterVoip as the service. Again it uses the rear speaker.
Third option is a program called AGE phone mobile 2 (which you have to purchase). This lets you set up multiple SIP's and presents its own dialpad. Still uses rear speaker though.
As you probably know, if you use a headset you get around the rear speaker problem.
All these programs/files are easily found with a search.
nimbuzz
If you use the latest version of skype in conjunction with skype account can use audio without rear speaker and gets better volume through headphones for me
what about with bluetooth? will this bypass the rear speaker?
Yes!
If you use BlueTooth headphone, it will bypass rear speakers!
Skype dec 10th Release for HTC P4000 on Telus!
