Hi @ all!
What do you think about a new thread to the topic "all Polaris rom collected"?
The existing thread ist totally outdated.
Maybe the new thread could be "sticky" to.
So that everybody cam easy find his/her favorite rom.

i think its not worth doing.
a comparison of roms would be great and very useful - but just list of roms is pretty useless cause the latest roms are always on the first-second page of the forum.
just my opinion...
i agree with bnm7, there is no need for a list of ROMs.
if someone could post some info about most of the ROMs then it would be good.

Hi!
What would you want to compare?
Help me to establish criteria for such a comparsion!

I'm trying to put together a ROM database site right now...
It would list all roms for HTC devices, including versions, flavours, applications included etc...
The goal is to have a comprehensive, organized and searchable database of ROMS posted on XDA.
Sounds good to you?

would be great to have some sort of wiki and several forum users will maintain the data to always have a current status
keeping is as oneman project is quite time consuming
what do you think?

I'm building the site based on Drupal CMS.
This gives possibility to delegate a lot of things. People may be able to add ROM or ROM Versions themselves, etc...
The idea is to put together something quite simple and straightforward. i think the forum part is better hosted here. XDA is a forum, and a good one. The only thing is that, as such, it's not a good file repository
this rom database would only be a kind of super-all-roms-collected thread
I don't know when I'll be able to put this online as I'm quite busy with my work right now :/
Hi all,
I really would like this post !!!
For me, as a new user it has been hard to have an idea on which rom to use and then where to find it. More important to become informed when new version of ROM becomes released...
If possible, i'd also suggest to include in the comparision table what MS fixes or HTC fixes are included or need to be installed after ROM; such as an smtp fix, 3d drivers or bluetooth fixes.
Thanks in advance for the effort!
JM
@Juanmre
when there are gonna be new roms/update's of roms is hard to say. the only that knows that. is the chef, mostly there done, when there done....

Here is a quick overview of data structure:
The site would provide a list of phones.
For each phone, it would list corresponding ROMS
A ROM may apply to several phones (eg: ELF/ELFin)
A ROM has a description (why did the author cook this ROM, what's the goal and/or main advantages of this ROM), one or more authors, and several ROM versions.

This would be the basic structure of the site.
One could then search for a ROM based on different criterias (phone, freshness, application included etc...)
I need help determining which informations should appear on ROM (Donators, Credits, ...) and ROM versions (available memory, known issues, ...) , and which ones should be searchable.
Any proposition will be considered

Help will be greatly appreciated
For now I'm laying out the base structure of the site, and I would like to keep this part a one-man project (those who read "the mythical man-month" know why )
Help will be needed when this is done, for making a drupal theme (something sexy ), and most important, for input of initial data. This will be a lot of work and I'll be unable to handle this alone.
I'll let you now when the site enters this phase, thanx in advance for your help
Wonderful!
This looks like OOD.
I think I understand,but...
what do you mean with application??
I should say 'included applications'
For ROMS that include additional software... maybe the term 'application' is misleading
Please excuse my english, I'm french ("please excuse my president I'm american" ohhhh nooo it doesn't work anymore )
PS: OOD? What's that?

Hi!
OOD stands for Object-oriented design
bye
peter
Ok, that's what I was thinking about, but with OOP (object oriented programming ^^)
In drupal, you can define new content types that have custom fields. That's why I made this UML-like diagram
Yes,
it looks like a UML-classdiagram
I didn't know, that it is possible to create customizable fields in drupal
but

A team involved in developing CUSTOM ROMs for athena
First step was to unlock the athena to allow the use of a CUSTOM RUU (ROM UPDATE UTILITY)
This could be done using a CUSTOM SPL (I think it stands for SYSTEM PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE) . This SPL has to be loaded into the Phone to allow the bypassing of CID (language and vendor ID), SIM lock and other protections (and some other things, but we could talk about those later).
I you want to load this CUSTOM SPL you need a working OS, then you transfer the spl cab via Activesync and load it. BUT if something goes wrong and your new OS has problem.... you are in trouble, because you can't load the CUSTOM SPL again ! (And SIM unlock couldn't be done in this way)
Athena Project first released (OLIPRO did it) HARD coded SPL (HARD-SPL) and a WRAPPER. The first allows SIM UNLOCK too, and his more complex, the second just allows to bypass language and vendor's ID
Then they started releasing ROMs, PK DUAL was the latest and we are waiting for AP4.
Oh ok. Over in the Kaiser and Herald forums its just random people making random ROMs, no teams.

Hi, I can not open this link. o me a favour PLEASE!!!!
THANKS
Hi Everyone:
In an effort to reduce redundant threads and unnecessary postings please be sure to consult the Xperia X1 wiki first and only if you can't find the answer in the wiki than please post your question.
Also if you come across information that is helpful please return the favor by adding it to the wiki. The process is very simple. Don't worry about messing up as there is a page history for every wiki page so in event of corruption, page can be restored to a previous version. With that said:
Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 Wiki PageRom Flashing- - X1 Roms- - Hardspl it's here - - Recovering from bad Flash- - Tutorial: Debranding the X1 / Flashing ROMs- - Flash X1 without PC - Micro SD MethodSim UnLock X1- - Sim Unlock by tupisdin
Customization- - Touch HD Cabs- - Porting TF3D to X1- - X1 Panel and Program tweaks- - Xperia Library
I will do my best to update this thread with links to the Xperia wiki sub pages as they grow and more content becomes available. If you have suggestions for a post to be added to the list please let me know (either by pm or posting here)
Thanks.
updated with more useful links.
there should be a compatibility list just like the one inthe Touch HD forum....
Re-Organized the X1 Wiki/Added Categorys/Added Links
Hello Guys,
I have reorganized the structure of the main Xperia Wiki here at xda-Devs.
Link: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Kovsky
I also think it is very important for having an structured and navigation friendly Wiki of "our device".
This will help most of us for finding/locating important information efficient and quick!
I have added an section where we can switch over from the Xperia-Wiki directly to the Xperia Forum.
I have also added some "sub" categorys (for example: "Topic related links->Xperia Videos" which points to some useful Videos anywhere in the I-net.)
So please feel invited for editing/updating the main Wiki Page if you have helpul information!
Thank's
OMG...
Being as inexpert as I am, I let myself go now and finish what's to be done:
I edited the wiki and added what I consider ito be useful stuff for all of us
Some senior member could please review my additions and help with format - if required

To both of you, thanks for your contribution. We need everyone on all device forums to think like this and work on the wiki so it can be a complete resource for everyone.
jahd5000 your suggestion is good. I believe when you say compatibility list you mean x1a (america) and regular x1 roms?? If so, than i'll try to go through the forum and see which roms are compatible with which version of the phone.
Thanks for all everyones opinions and contributions.

i can recommend using theme for 6.5 - just system way, not ham3rs method for that build.
21898 is 6.5 line and transparencies are available by using 6.5 tsk.
you will avoid potential problems that can emerge with ham3rs method(that was made for COOKS and for 6.1 mainly).

Thanks for all that, but I have to say - I did search for that! Honestly, and I found a few threads which methods did not help for me and I read peoples comments after which stated they had the same OS ver. as me and were having problems -also with no one helping them figure it out, so no solution..and thus I did not want to even try it on my phone...also another method I found mentioned several OS versions and did not include mine... also with people commenting as I have said.... so please do not think that I do not use the search function -believe me that is the function I use the most! Honestly!...
Now I know I did not check all that were available, but maybe a few must have slipped my eyes (I was on my phone at the time also switching back and forth between apps trying different things)...so please forgive me..

thanks but no luck with those links, they are out dated and refer to older windows mobile os's ....
I thought this would be something simple to do , esp seeing all this wonderful development going on here, but now it seems as though either no one cares to make the bars transparent -or they are settling with creating the wallpaper to be cut to pieces (one for the top bar, one for the main screen and one piece for the bottom bar)...which is not making it transparent, but it has the effect..just when you switch wallpapers you have to do the whole process again...
please someone advise me, there has to be a solution out there somewhere... =\
I want to cook a ROM without Manila, but with Huashan Phone Canvas.
I know that is possible to cook a ROM with EzInput but without Manila, if you also cook in the dependency packages for EzInput.
So, my question is - which packages are dependencies for Huashan Phone Canvas?
Start reading from this thread it's "Resource (.DLL, .EXE, etc.)", especially
Dependency Walker
PEinfo
Have fun,
Thank you for your answer. I knew about that, i thought that I could save some time if someone already knows which packages I need for working Phone Canvas.
It doesn't matter if Huashan or oder Phone Canvas.
Try looking for the dependencies in the .dsm. And don't expect others to figure everything out for you, lol.

Hey "dude", no one is making work for me. And you should also be careful what you are saying. You are MOD but id doesn't give you right or freedom to tell what you want and how you want. You don't know me - so you shouldn't judge me.
This is Chef Central, and its meant to ask questions and give answers.

I am seeing how much FarmerTed is helping the Community. I also appreciate his help on my issue. What I don't like is when someone try to make himself important upon the others with their "lol" comments.

Look, sorry for the 'lol' comment. Lol. Anyway, I don't know what the mission statement is for this place (or anywhere else), but my feeling is that it's a good place to ask for help and get help-but 'help' doesn't strictly mean getting the answers to your questions. The first poster gave you help; I gave you a little help (suggesting that you look in the dsm for dependencies-that's what dsm's are for, but it may not answer your question). Anyway, you're much better off in the end learning how to answer your own questions then just having someone come along and answer them directly for you. Sharing techniques is more important than just sharing answers, imo.
Anyway, I suspect that there are threads out there that list the necessary dependencies for new HTC builds. Have you looked for any of them? That would be another approach. I honestly don't know the answer, as I use the stock MS phone canvas.

Thank you, Farmer Ted. I have looked, but i didn't found any specific Threads about Phone Canvas dependencies. But i followed the suggestion to take a look into the DSM file. I hope that i will find the solution.
I know that you also use the OSBuilder for cooking, strange thing is when i look into the DSM file in OSBuilder for dependencies, it shows me only the files that are in the Phone Canvas package.
I also think that is much better to give the hint for the right direction how to get the answer or solution by yourself, and not answering directly the question.
From asking this question I've learned that you can find allot from DSM files.
Thank you all for your help.

Alright, I used DSM Editor to find the dependencies of Phone Canvas Enhancement 2G v4.2.62520173131.0
But I could not find the given DSM file (the one specified as a dependency).
I've read through all the stickies about phone canvases, and searched to my wits end lol can't find a way to make any dialer work (not even the one from the ROM dump I used)!

Thank you Alexx~.
Can you please tell me what is that program that you are using to detect dependencies?

Do you know of any other way to detect dependencies?
So, what you said earlier, there aren't any dependencies for phone canvas enhancement?
Does anyone have a working WVGA phone canvas ext package they could share? I can't get one to work for the life of me :/
Update: so far, from scouring the forums, here is what I can find for phone canvas dependencies:
-Contact Utility Engine
-Message Enhancement, must match Phone Canvas Enhancement version
Update 2:
-Doesn't seem to work unless paired with it's same version HTC Scroll package

Ha I just edited my post then I read that you posted this too
HTC Scroll definitely had a piece in this ha. I have a feeling that, of course, Microphone (the corresponding version) and one other package (whose name escapes me) will also affect phone canvas. We'll find out!

Ok, so here's an unofficial list of Phone Canvas Enhancement dependencies, for those of you who would like one:
-Contact Utility Engine
-Message Enhancement, must match Phone Canvas Enhancement version
-HTC Scroll
-PTT (Not always required, but it certainly was with the ATT dialer from the Rhodium 2.10 ship rom)
-Facebook Engine
-HTC Framework (thanks brainmaster)
Those are the packages which I've found it won't run without via process of elimination.

Smith
And don't forget the HTC Framework package.
I'm fairly new to programming but I thought I would have a go at an app that could help people flash roms, radios, change themes, find new apps etc. The app is simple (and I meen really simple) at the moment but I am hoping to extend its functionality soon. Basically what the app does is provide you with the tools, download links and instructions that you will need to flash a rom/radio/spl etc to your device.
I have also tried to include links to the best apps, mods & tweaks that your device has to offer, this part of the app is in early development at the moment but it is quickly growing.
I am programming this in c# and I'm a bit of a nuub at it so if there are any developers out there who like the look/idea of the app then please feel free to contact me, I will glady give the source code to anyone who wants it as I would like this app to be as helpful and usefull as it can.
Feedback is much appreciated and I would love some requests or ideas?

i cant believe over 100 views and no one has any ideas or feedback for me, i know its not the best program in the world but a few replys would be nice.
This would be ideal for looking into things instead of using the lame "search" feature (no offense) or keep looking through the pages .
But the tile is a lil bit misleading, as ROM Helper doesn't actually describes what does the app do . I mean it's just my opinion to change to something more informative, like ROM instructor for instance, title .
Also you won't draw attention in here, try posting it in a more specific section : ) .
Such a good app, keep up the good work because that what our community should do ! I wish i was a developer, even a noob one : ), cuz i have lots of apps' ideas but they're just in my head !
Keep it up

thanks for the words of encouragement, your feedback has been very helpful
I think you have a typo. You wrote KernAL insead of Kernel.
Its a great programm and i was looking for somethink like this a long time ago.
i know its a hell of work, but a start screen where you can search according to things like "6.5 or 6.5.3" and "cookie or "non-cookie", etc. I think its impossible because its just to much work as i guess you are connecting all the face manually.
Anyway, thanks a lot, i like it!
OT- Edit! I just noticed your Шапка-Ушанка - have u been to russia lately?

thanks and cheers about the typo, i will change it now, new version is being uploaded as i type this. and i wanted to add a search function but it wasnt working for me, im sure ill get round to it tho.
also i have been to russia but not recently, got my hat from outside the big museum in st petersburg, ive been learning to speak a bit of russian too for a hobby. dont know how you spell it in russian but i can say it ok "boy apinima paruski" lol
This is a great concept and could be a fantastic alternative to searching through the forums for what you need.
I'm sure you're still working on it, but at the moment some of the ROM headers link only to their download page (i.e. hotfile), and not to a description.
It looks like a lot of work, but it would be great if it becomes a comprehensive resource. Thanks for all of your effort!
