Hello,
I have had my Hermes for a short time period now, and have been attempting to run a few SNES games on it. I have two problems when I run PocketSNES and wanted to know if there were any solutions to either.
1. I can only run it in portrait or landscape left mode. Landscape right simply does not render. I need "right" so I can have the screen right above my keyboard, as opposed to being upside down.
2. When I run sound (even on the lowest of emulation) it does not load.
I have Windows Mobile 5, and have the basic ROM that it came loaded with.

morph gear works well.
snes, by the way, works fine too.
try to search nother build.

Hello there
got myself today a mda pro. On my ipaq 4150 I played I lot with snes for pocket pc. This doesn't work on my new mda pro. Which emulator like snes, mame, GBA works on MDA Pro
Im a big Amiga fan, so I just signed up to this;

MorphGear is probably the best all-round Emulator. Though recently they've changed the way you use it, preferring to go for plug-in style bits rather than an all-in-one .exe

I already installed it. But whith the vga screen it crashes.
p.s. I have 10.000 of roms
I cant get MorphGear to work at all on my XDA Exec
Get the error;
Destiny: Exception in E:\dev\spicypixel\destiny\src\gapi\gapidisplay.cpp at line 355. Unable to open display.
Any idea how to fix this????
i have the same error...
however that is only since i did my 1st rom update.... with the original t-mobile dutch rom it worked..
The Morphgear is trying to use the GAPI drivers, and since those are not supported in the WM5, you need to switch it to GDI instead (much slower).. If you'r not able to open the settingspanel for morphgear, you can manually change it in the registry (don't remember the key though)
If you look at the supportforums at morphgear you'll soon find that this is the #1 most reoccuring question. (at least when I last checked)

It's probably a 3 right now. You can change it to any of the following numbers:
0=GDI
1=GAPI
2=RawFrameBuffer
3=Auto
when set to GDI (=0) it works fine again

ScummVM works, but only in QVGA mode, and the screen is 180 degrees rotated.

I dont normally play games on me mobile but things have changed since I got my SPV3100 and now my Ameo!
Was thinking we could start a list with useful links of games that actually work on the ameo.
Ive managed to find a classic, wolfenstein 3d, its a complete port and it runs really well!
I was wondering tho if anyone can get Quake or Doom working. (found hpc doom but it crashes at the very start, looks like it would work but doesnt)

Managed to get doom working fine.
Heres where you need to go to download the program, it runs in Portrait at the moment but works smoothly nonetheless.

Keys:
Joystick - Directional Control
Tap at the bottom half of the screen / Comm Manager Button - Fire
If you want to exit, click the X in the top right, then Press the camera button. Once in the main menu, move down to exit game and then press the camera button again.
You need to have the DOOM1.wad file (read the readme file that comes with the program from explainations)

SPB Air Islands (the game sucks, but it has some cool minigames and it's VGA!)

Favourites of mine, Sam 7 Max, Simon the Sourcerer, Day of the Tentacle
It works, but you have problems starting it up. Start with the pda in portrait mode, and fumble your way around to the options menu to get to graphics settings and turn on the 2x doubling. Once thats done it works fine from then on.
Megadrive Emulator
Managed to get PicoDrive working altho all the keys are messed up because of the screen orientation, it seems to get the joystick confused, and makes UP left and DOWN right for some reason, still looks good on the Ameo tho!

Gotta agree with you on Spb Brain Evo ..simply the nuts. I also like the 'Real Dice' ensemble of games like;
Real Dice Mahjong
Real Dice Dominos
Real Dice Sudoku Master II......all are in high quality genuine VGA. They look and play really well.
Open Transport Tycoon Deluxe (2.0 beta) works perfectly (just remember to set the phone to portrait view before starting). Now with the "original" music sounds!

SIM Coupe (SAM Coupe emulator) works okay if you start in Portrait mode with only the "keyboard" menu being present as a glitch. (I thought I'd posted about Pocket Commodore Plus/4, too, which works but is PAINFULLY slow sometimes).
For bought games, Broken Sword (Astraware) demo looks very very promising indeed; it rotated the screen correctly and looks very pretty, and appears to be playing at the correct speed.

This is my first post so hope im doing this ok.
I am thinking of getting one of there phones as a friend has one.
I currently have a hermes and all is ok, the problem is that the athena is lacking in buttons on the front that are needed to play games, like "fire" in worms for example.
none of the keyboard buttons seem to work.
Is there a way round this?

I have the same trouble, Worms in X7500 only admit two buttons and the game requires three buttons to work correctly.
Can someboy modify the wwpsave.dat as somebody did for the HTC Touch to make the x7500 buttons workable for this game???

Hey I downloaded 2 different emulators and I have no idea how to install them. I tried with Active Sync, I tried straight from the card. Nothing's working for me. Anybody got a sticky on what to do with the emulators and roms?

look for the games you want here
download the games to your /my documents folder on your pocket pc or to your storage card root
start the nes emulator on your pocket pc and enjoy

seem to have a hard time figuring out how to use the controls? which buttons do you use and how do you assign them?
do any of you have trouble playing either of the nes emulators youve gotten i got them to play just can never touch the screen or it becomes almost unresponsive pocket nester you install from pc and pocket nester plus launch straight from file explorer those are by far the best emulators I have came across just have problems with this phone

i uninstalled it for the same reasons. i think it has a problem with the samsung cpu that is in the hermes. from what i hear, it works great on the wizards. if anyone figures out the problems please post it.

i'm having a hard time to install pocketnes emulator on my t-mobile wing. i tried pocketnes plus and it loads the game and just exits out. can anybody help me, i really dont know what i'm doing

me too.. i want to find out if its possible to play on landscape mode.
I've tried several different ways and landscape does not work. The video quality goes up significantly if you turn the volume off (in the app, not on the device). Some of the buttons cannot work for the controller (like the phone button). Otherwise it works perfectly and if you're playing, hit 'save state' under 'file' and you can restart from that second.

I was wondering if any one has tried using a palm emulator on their Shift and if so which program. I tried running a program called styleTap on the Win Mobile side but o luck and the program just freezes up when opened. I am looking to run programs from a treo 680 which is one of the latest Palm software if I am not mistaken. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's possible
StyleTab (shareware) works on the Shift!
To get it working you need QuickMenu (free) once.
Install QuickMenu
Install StyleTab and YOU CAN'T REACH OK on the nag screen!
Open QuickMenu and turn screen right.
The StyleTab screen is completely displayed.
Goto Optons-display size and choose original.
Restart StyleMenu
Turn screen back to narmal orientation
(Delete QuickMenu)
Install all your palm apps but hacks.
Enjoy your original size IIIc on this big screen.
Start paying after 14 days...

Turn screen BEFORE installing StyleTab or the WM side freezes...
But after a restart from Vista side you can still turn the page and start StyleTab again.
I like it as most programs work (NO hacks, NO DA files)

That is the one I am using, but not able to do anything, for some reason the alignment is off too. If i want to click register I need to click way higher than where the actual button is. What other software do you have installed? any help is appreciated.

Does anyone have a good working GBA emulator that has on screen buttons, d-pad and A,B? I had a really nice one that worked well with my Raphael but I can't seem to find it anywere.

Ok, well id rather play it in portrait then in landscape, but at this point im just trying to get a working one, that would be nice
Morphgear works fine for some roms (it's not free though).
From a certain size of the rom it runs out of memory on my tp2. It seems to be a bug with the program, not you tp2 actually running out of memory.
Alternatively, there are several freeware emulators, not hard to find at all. But I haven't tried any of those.
