Which game-emulator works on Jasjar/MDA PRO - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Hello there
got myself today a mda pro. On my ipaq 4150 I played I lot with snes for pocket pc. This doesn't work on my new mda pro. Which emulator like snes, mame, GBA works on MDA Pro

Im a big Amiga fan, so I just signed up to this;
http://pocketinsanity.sourceforge.net/
Its for PPC devices, and it *almost* works on my Exec, so I posted a message on the developers forum to let him know.
Cheers
Nas

MorphGear is probably the best all-round Emulator. Though recently they've changed the way you use it, preferring to go for plug-in style bits rather than an all-in-one .exe

PS - you'll have to find your own ROMs

I already installed it. But whith the vga screen it crashes.
p.s. I have 10.000 of roms

I cant get MorphGear to work at all on my XDA Exec
Get the error;
Destiny: Exception in E:\dev\spicypixel\destiny\src\gapi\gapidisplay.cpp at line 355. Unable to open display.
Any idea how to fix this????

i have the same error...
however that is only since i did my 1st rom update.... with the original t-mobile dutch rom it worked..

The Morphgear is trying to use the GAPI drivers, and since those are not supported in the WM5, you need to switch it to GDI instead (much slower).. If you'r not able to open the settingspanel for morphgear, you can manually change it in the registry (don't remember the key though)
If you look at the supportforums at morphgear you'll soon find that this is the #1 most reoccuring question. (at least when I last checked)
best regards

It's probably a 3 right now. You can change it to any of the following numbers:
0=GDI
1=GAPI
2=RawFrameBuffer
3=Auto
when set to GDI (=0) it works fine again
thnx LOMF

ScummVM works, but only in QVGA mode, and the screen is 180 degrees rotated.

SNES Emulation Speed

I've been thinking of getting an HTC P4350 (Herald) lately, but the one thing holding me back is the 200MHz TI OMAP 850 processor. What I am interested in finding out before making the purchase is how well the 200MHz processor handles SNES emulation. Because I play SNES games like Chrono Trigger alot, I would like to make sure that the Herald can handle these games at a decent speed before I make the purchase. If anyone can let me know their experience with SNES emulation on the Herald, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance!
Hi Jester_b84
I've been using the SNES Emulator on the Herald. The games we're running good with 200 MHz processor speed of the Herald. What I have never got working is the sound of SNES games.
And I've never played your game "Chrono Trigger" but a lot of other like "Super Mario" and "F-Zero".
Another possibility is to overclock the processor for playing SNES games. Just look around the forum. I'm sure you'll find some more information about overclocking the Herald...
Raftbone
Hello raftbone, thanks for your response. It's good news that you have SNES running smoothly on the Herald. I used to use n0p's port of SNES9x and it was running great, but slightly slow on my 624MHz processor and there were incompatibilities with some games I like to play. I switched to MorphGear tonight and it ran very smoothly (with sound) on a 624MHz processor. If only I could try it on a 200MHz processor, that would be great...
Hi Jester
I'll try it for you. Just downloaded MorphGear. I only need to find some free time today to test it on the herald. I'll let you know my experience as soon as I can...

Thanks raftbone! I will wait eagerly for your results.
Sorry for the long delay... I've tested MorphGear with my Herald. Games like Super Mario run very smooth, but what I cannot get working is the sound. Same problem as with Pocket SNES.
The other problem with MorphGear is, that the display does not automatically switch to landscape mode when sliding out the keyboard...
If you'd like to play SNES games, this is in general no problem with the Herald (but without sound) but I prefer Pocket SNES than MorphGear...
Hope this may help you
Thank you for your testing raftbone, I greatly appreciate it! At first, I could not get sound working under MorphGear either - but here is my solution:
- Go to Global Settings
- Make sure "Enable Sound" is checked & Volume @ 100%
- Go to SNES9x (SNES) settings
- Under "Sound", make sure both "Enable Sound" and "Emulate" are checked
- Close and re-launch MorphGear.
Now, sound should work perfectly!
Thanks for the hint. Sounds works now
So which runs faster, n0p's or MorphGear?
they're more ore less running on the same speed...
my personal favourite is still n0p's pocket snes.
don't know about yall but i was trying to run chrono trigger with n0ps and it was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo slow

Did you try MorphGear? On my current PPC, MorphGear runs much faster than n0p's PocketSNES port when playing Chrono Trigger.
Hello, I was chacking out the Herald today at T-Mobile. Generally, how well does it feel to pay SNES or NES on the phone? I assume you use the directional buttons as the d-pad. What about A, B, X, Y, and L & R?
Games like Mario World are very demanding of precise control. Is the Herald a good platform for playing such games?
Thanks!
I haven't been playing SNES stuff yet, just NES games right now, but for the controls, I've found that using the slide out keyboard is a lot more comfortable for me than the built-in buttons. I map the A/B?etc buttons to the keyboard buttons (don't map to the arrow buttons though) and when playing games, I'll slide out the keyboard, change the orientation back to portrait, and launch my emulator. Games that require multiple button presses (e.g., pressing A while holding down B) are still a little difficult for me to play, but otherwise works pretty well.
As for Morphgear, I'll have to give it a try for the SNES emu...I used it for NES emu and it was slower than Pcoketnester.
Can anyone please attach the CAB files for Morphgear and the SNES module? The official Morphgear site is undergoing some work, and you can't download from there right now.

Nevermind, I finally found it, but it refuses to load an SNES rom on my T-Mobile wing. It complains about a lack of memory.

Silly question but did you try a soft reset before? Did you try removing anything that takes up memory (like Today plugins) and trying again?
@vudu: What emulator are you using BTW?

I tried the reset. I didn't try disabling anything on the Today Screen, though I had already disabled everything except MyFavs and BatteryStatus.
It's all moot now. I returned my Wing and cancelled my T-Mobile account. Mobile IE is a spectacular POS. A web browser was the primary reason I bought a PDA phone, so when the browser sucked, the phone sucked.
I ran morphgear on my PPC 6700, it ran most games fine, would slow down sometimes if a lot was going on at once. I don't think I ever had a problem with the sound, just had to tinker with the settings. I liked morphgear much better than pocetsnes. Chrono Trigger played well, with a slight delay. The PPC 6700 has a 400mhz processor, I don't know about the Herald because it has 200mhz, but I am getting a Wing this week so I would like to know if it's worth even installing.

Online Games?

Hi,
Does anyone know of any Pocket PC games that you can play online? Downloading Shadow of Legend at the moment (but is taking ages!).
Cheers

great little java multiplayer game, only works on the latest version of the java manager as far as i've tested, has a trial which you can get to lvl 10 but its pretty fun me n Bro played it together on 2 ppcs (TyTN and TyTN 2) and worked well!
YOU may want to check Menneisyys' reviews
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Game reviews & roundups
Real Dice inc. has an online "Casino" type pack avail. It looks awesome, though about buying it on Handango, the only thing stopping me is, it's an &8/mo subscription, not a full purchase. But currently it allows you to play Texas Hold 'Em, Backgammon, Chess, and two others, can't remember, total of five I believe, all multiplayer or vs. AI. As new multiplayer games are created, you will have access to them at no charge, I believe.
www.Mavec.co.uk rocks and there is a new version coming soon too.
On the first of June starts the crossplatform warspear online. Anyway, I know a site, but its russian =)
anyway you can find out the names of the games and the screenshots. Maybe try to googletranslate it))
cheers guys got a few to look at!
been playing Mavec, dont really understand it tho lol
are there and online adventure type ones?
Cheers.

PocketSNES 1.2 Landscape Right Question

Hello,
I have had my Hermes for a short time period now, and have been attempting to run a few SNES games on it. I have two problems when I run PocketSNES and wanted to know if there were any solutions to either.
1. I can only run it in portrait or landscape left mode. Landscape right simply does not render. I need "right" so I can have the screen right above my keyboard, as opposed to being upside down.
2. When I run sound (even on the lowest of emulation) it does not load.
I have Windows Mobile 5, and have the basic ROM that it came loaded with.
Regards,
-glj12
i have the same problem, but i have a windows mobile 6.1 ver.
have you found any solution? thanks!

WM6 & SNES emulator

Hi everybody.
I was looking for an SNES emulator for my Diamond on WM6 for hours and hours... So difficult to find one working ! I've tried a lot.
I've finaly found that one : SNES9xPPC. That's the only one who work on my Diamond. Actually, there no sound (or I didn't find the way to) but all roms I tried are working (even chrono trigger, basic instinc and all 3 DK that have somes problems on DS emulators...).
The display is a bit slow, but almost all right.
No cab file found, just put the exe and play.
Better than nothing, but still wait for a good version of an SNES emulator !
Peace
PS : If somebody find the way to get press Y and B buttun at the same time, I'm listenning to !
lol.
i am just amazed by what You found..prehistory..
believe me, it is bad idea to use that one you found.
just search for HTC optimised pocketsnes( modaco forum ), or ARM/XSCALE optimised pocketsnes( n0p site) - that second group emus will be slow on your htc toy...
you may check morphgear, or snes9xj4u(which is just BEST for portrait mode with ARM/XSCALE machines).
to your information: NEVER use frameskip less than 2.
you will save power and gain gameplay time(..too).
NEVER use sound interpolation function.
NEVER save after turning emu sound option off, if you played with sound earlier(saves may crash pernamently).
more info:
modaco regions(htc oriented ONLY):
http://www.modaco.com/category/38/smartphone-software-games/
n0p, xscale master site(snes, dos, sega emus):

you know, ppc emu world still exists..
Hi nothin !
Be sure I've tried all you talk about ! Even I found the nes9xj4u somewhere lost on the web... And no of them worked. Always a crash, most of time when I openned the roms files.
No matter, that one work, I'll wait now for a good version on WM6 wich enable the landcape mode with soft keys, and incha allah the 2player by bluetooth (does somebody hear me ?!)
even, thanks for suggestions of parameters you're right, it work.
PS: a toy you said ?!
Masterall's PocketSNES 1.53
This is the one that has always ran perfectly on my Wizard QVGA. Not sure how it'll run on a VGA device. Better than n0p's version.
http://www.modaco.com/content/smartphone-software-games/237589/pocketsnes-1-53/
Would you mind linking to that version somewhere else, ive always wanted a working snes emulator though ive never found one, but i dont feel like registering on a new forum just for a file
SeanFromSoCal, Pocketsnes 1.53 is not working on wm6 vga...

FPSEce now working at all on HD2 ! NOOB in need of HELP!

Typo: Meant Not in the title not "now".
Hello fellow smart phone users,
I am new to the deal, would be safe to assume I know nothing. This should be fun for some of you ^.^"
I've got the HD2/Leo from T-Mobile UK and currently on the 1.43.110.2 rom
I have the 3.5 .NET Framework thing installed as per the intructions on the tips thread here. God knows if that has to do with anything.
But the problem is, when I start the FPSEce 0.10, the loader thing starts alright, then when I click on on fpsece010.exe as instructed on Pdf, all I get is a black screen for 1 sec, then back to where ever I was, the app simply doesn't exists in the task manager. Tried uninstalling FPSEce and installing it into the device memory instead duno if that helps, but still no good.
Am I missing something here ? Was there something I should;ve done in the installation process ? Didn't find a video on youtube which is really a N00b guide, all of them assume it works first.
Anyone with the same problem ??
Your help will be greatly appreciated !!!
PEACE^^
The Post is sinking into te abyss with no replies ... Help !!!!!
my advice is to wait for newer versions of fpse as the current 0.10 is still unplayable in my opinion. the control functions have not yet been configured for proper use with the HD2 screen.
im not sure if .net 3.5 is required for fpse but have you configured your device (device policies) to use .net 3.5 in the .net configurator
before some one starts flaming! yes i have tried it and got games to work but the current controls its just to cumbersome to play in my opinion!

cheers for the reply,
But I have made the registry change so it uses 3.5 but no good ?
It simply won't start, any chance that it conflict with a specific app ?
Same problems and no answers
here same problem too
1. Do you have a PSX BIOS file in the BIOS folder?
2. Are you starting it from the FPSE icon in the start menu?
3. Do you have a PSX ISO ( game ) to load?
There is no reason to be clicking on fpsece010.exe since the Startmenu icon is handling this. With the correct BIOS installed you should see a request to select your ISO game file at startup.

The donation version works great with the HD2. Well worth the investment.
same here
i got supporter fpsece 0.10 version n still got same problem
if anyone needs bios files check the link below. I've been meaning to test this out so i got in touch with some of my old friends in the emulation scene and i have managed to obtain a quantity of of bios files of many different versions.
I knew all that time i spent playing mario, sonic and co on the pc as a teenager wouldn't be wasted.
I downloaded it and played around before doing the last T-Mo US update, but I could not get multi touch working at all. Until that works in the free version I will save my money. Otherwise it worked very well and I was pleased with the quality, but trying to race with only one button pressed at a time was not so fun

you need to use a bios rom (i am using SCPH1001). copy this file to /Programs/FpseCE/BIOS, then launch fpsece. when the loader shows up, tap "cancel", the program should start and you should see the playstation animation and hear the sound. if this worked, exit fpsece by long-pressing the [X].
then start fpsece again, choose your playstation image in the loader.
if you own the supporter version, you should use the hd2 optimized pack.

You need the supporter version for multitouch. I would highly recommend spending the few dollars it costs to get that if you have the hd2.... its well worth it. This is one of the best programs out there for gamers.... you have the entire playstation library in the palm of your hands. You can even get a psx iso with a nes emulator and every nes game and it plays pretty well with fpsece. The multi-touch controls make a huge difference. Also with the supporter version you get realtime saving and g-sensor support. Well worth the measly 5euros it costs.
strange one here but isnt against forum rules to upload the bios here seen as you're not supposed to be able to get hold of one even though a quick google and you can find it
