Hi all,
I am playing/working with my nice HD which is mounting the italian ROM 1.13.... and from yesterday I am facing a syncronization error when trying to download the email using pocket outlook.
Simply when I do send/receive there is immediately an error message at the bottom saying "syncronization error" and then the popup on top shows up saying "please check the setting"...
BUT the internet GPRS connection works just fine: when launching OPERA the HD connects via gprs and I can surf normally. The problem just exists with Pocket Outlook.
If I am connected via WiFi then PocketOutlook works fine and downloads the emails without problems...
I have tried to delete and create again both the GPRS connection and the email account, but this error has not changed.
any idea how to fix this?
thanks!

Hi all,

I have just installed Pocket PC 2003 on my pocket pc. However I cannot get internet explorer or Messenger to work. I am tried to set my GPRS for (O2 -UK) and the phone appears to be connected. However, when I run messenger I get the following message:
Logon to MSN messenger service failed because the service could not be found. please make sure that you are connected to the internet.
When I try to browse the net.. I get "page cannot be found" message.
Any Ideas guys - What am I doing wrong?
Can someone confirm how to set up the O2 uk connections in Pocketpc 2003.
Thanks
Ron
With AT&T at least in the US, you need to remove the proxy server...I did that after getting the same error message & now it works!
Hi,
I keep getting this error when I start IE in my Wizard. It starts the "connect command when IE is opened, then, almost immediately,
"The page you are looking for cannot be found due to unknown error 0x80004005".
And that's not just fo rthe home page, but any page I type in.
When I soft reset the unit, IE seems to work OK, if I have not done other GPRS things first. However, if I soft reset the unit,. and it connects to GPRS for mail or something first, the IE problem is there. Even if I disconnect GPRS, and reconnect, it still will not work. I need to soft reset. IE just stays in a perpetual state of "connecting", after I OK the error.
It should also be mentioned that when I am connected to the Internet via my laptop & activesync, the same problem arises.
I have flushed all caches and files from IE. When I google that error, it comes up as a normal Outlook 2003 error, related to mail, I think. I do not know if that has any relation, or Oulook 2003 just happens to have an identical error number.
Any help would be appreciated.
To follow up on this, I have found that this IE error happens only after the Wzard checks for IMAP mail (AOL). Since I use an Exchange Server, I do not check for POP3 mail, but, anyway, it is strange this happens.
Does anyone know how anyhting in the system is altered after checking IMAP mail?
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Any tips? I'm sure I have everything set up perfectly, but it just won't download any web pages. Is there something i'm missing?
I can download my e-mails fine (Hotmail, and IMAP) but can't get any web pages open using eather IE or Opera.
Cheers
Try disabling proxy on your GPRS/EDGE connection first (take note of the settigns first). I haven't been able to do anything using Activesync Passthru.
It was allready disabled.
I've just done a hard reset, and it still won't connect with a fresh Activesync connection. Any ideas?
ACTIVE SYNC AND INTERNET
Under options in ACTIVE SYNC---you have to have THIS COMPUTER CONNECTS TO INTERNET .
Thanks, but it's allready ticked.
Anything else?
hi!
Use tweaks2k2.net or any other program that enables the browser pass as IE 6.0.. just try
ACTIVE SYNC AND INTERNET
I've also had problems if my OUTLOOK inbox is set to my POP MAIL ACCOUNT (YAHOO). When I check outlook mail for some reason it connects.
Also--what are your connection settings to get to INTERNET for your GPRS and WORK settings unrelated to active sync?

hi
Well, matheprat im just guessing if this is right... but i have encounter this problem wherein i can't load any web page on my ppc..theres an option on tweaks2k2 where you can chage PPC IE as IE 6.0 Well It will not totally chage but it will make your browser pass like an IE 6.0.. just try and let me know if you've done it
Thanks for the reply. I tried doing the above, and there's no change, I still can't connect. Every time I connect the PPC to Activesync I get a message saying that it's unable to find a server assigned IP. Ive tried using a specific IP (my computers), and leaving it to obtain one from the server, but neither work. When it was connecting before, i set it to obtain an IP from the server.
I also can't update the weather info for SPB Pocket Weather, but I can check e-mails (hotmail and IMAP), and sign into MSN on the device.

Hi,
I had a HTC Tytn and now have a Cingular 8525 on Cingular's UMTS network. I was unable to connect to google's gmail mobile service using either phone, the MIDlet manager simply gives me a connection timeout error. Wondering if anyone else has had this experience with either gmail mobile or google maps mobile? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
gmail midlet on tytn
can't get it to work at all on my tytn. It just crashes the micro jvm.
Tried it too, doesn't work.
After that i figured out how to fix the thing that was stopping me using gmail with POP in pocket outlook. Normaly, if you download a message it doesn't show up on another computer anymore, which is annoying as i also access gmail with pop on my normal PC.
The trick is to add "recent:" before your username in the user name field. Outlook then downloads all recent messages it doesn't have yet, not just new ones. So i'm happily using gmail on outlook with pop access now.
yes, doesnt work on Dopod 838 PRO.
installation was fine.
then during login process, simply kicked me out of the application.
I have the Cingular 8525 and the gmail java app works just great. No problems installing or using.
Gmail stand alone client
I have a JasJam that constantly crashed on loading the Gmail client but I fixed it by following the steps on this page:
http://www.cjmillisock.com/2006/11/how-to-get-gmail-mobile-for-your-t.html
It seemed to install over the top of the built in midlet manager without any problem or duplication of icons etc.
Enjoy the Gmail experience on your pda!
Gmail via MIDLet Manager works well for me on the 8525.
I initially did have some connection issues, and realized that it was because MIDLet Manager was trying to connect to the internet via wi-fi as opposed to through UMTS.
Anyway - I went to Menu > Choose Network Type and selected "MY ISP" and I've had no problems connecting to GMAIL or using the Opera Mini browser since.
Hope this helps...

Yep, same as the above post, except my 8525 was trying to connect via GPRS. No problems since then! Everything is working fine!
I had the same problem
By default, it was trying to connect via MediaNet which goes through the cingular proxy server...it would just sit there on the screen saying "connecting to service"...when it timed out, it gave me a chance to choose a new service. I chose MY ISP, which doesn't go through the proxy server, and it worked like a charm.

Same here....working great for me on a Cingular 8125.
When I connect my hd2 to Active Sync, internet works fine. I am able browse using Opera. But the pop3 mail accounts are not receiving/Sending any mails. If I click on Send/Receive it gives an error saying "Error Synchronizing". Pops up the connection settings pop up to modify.
please help me in this issue.
