I'm using an XDA T-Mobile PPC (SX-56 ATT unlocked with 4.01.16 and Radio ver 6.25.02).
I wanted to see if anyone had the same problem and can help getting me back on WAP. Currently not signed up for any data plans, but using the GPRS WAP. Been unable to connect to the internet since last Weds. Antennna confirms that GPRS is connected from the signal using the the standard TM configuration from this site. IE hangs and eventually times out with a page not found. When the handheld is in the cradle, IE connects to the internet without problems.
Prior to this downtime it's been pretty solid, accessed as expected and never had this issue before. Did a hard reset to rebuild, but not fixed, however did notice the network search has recently been slow. Not sure some changes happened since TM stores started receiving the HP6315.
Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.
TIA
T-Mobile had blocked access for a while, but this morning on my way to work, I got some email on my XDA! I'm writing this now on my XDA, GPRS connection, and I haven't gotten a data plan. So maybe they are allowing "free WAP" access again. I am in Atlanla, so it may take longer in other places.
I have the same setup (XDA1, former ATT SX-56, now using the SIM card from my t-mobile Blackberry)
I can get voice to work and the connection shows GPRS, but whenever I try to open a web page I am confronted with an authentication dialog. Can anyone offer any advice? I do have the data plan with the Blackberry...maybe that is the problem?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
I had the same problem when I tried to "borrow" my wife's sim from her blackberry. It has something to do with the way they set up blackberries... I believe either they access the internet differently than other phones, or their data plans are structured differently or some combination of that.
I hope that helps...
Ok, I just moved from San Diego back to Mobile, AL and just before I left, my gprs web stopped working. I could still go to tzones but no internet or modem use.
Now, as soon as I moved to AL it all worked again (yay) but....
just yesterday it all came crashing down again; same problem
I can "connect" to the gprs/edge and it will access tzones but when i try to load a PIE page or go to google maps, weatherbar, etc, it will not connect. IE will give the error
"page cannot be displayed or downloaded because the connection was lost. Check the conection and then try again."
the wireless modem part also no longer works. pc says "connected" but I get no data rx
did tmo fry our free internet finally? if so, how did it follow me? lol
PLEASE HELP ME ON THIS ONE
just let me know if all my efforts will be and are fruitless
ive already hard reset my phone of course to no avail.... anyone?

Mine used to play up on O2 this way - same message as you are getting, until I discovered a better port number. I also have found that maybe every 5 months something goes wrong and it will say "connecting" forever. This can only be sorted by deleting the network card and re-entering the settings. You would think, since they are identical to the last set I put in, that it still would not work - not so, just putting them all back in sorts it.
Another problem I faced initially was that the internet published settings for O2 were not correct on 90% of sites. I had to contact a fellow O2 user to get him to go through his settings which were different from the published ones.
Of course this may have absolutely nothing to do with your problem.

I am a fresh owner of an unlocked HTC 8925 and I am having the hardest time connecting to the internet via WIFI. I connect to any hotspot just fine (atleast that's what the phone indicates to me) but when it is time to hit the internet with internet explorer it tells me that I can't go anywhere. (Yes, I chose that this connection connects to the internet)
I don't recall the exact error message but it was along the lines of that any websites I tried to go to was name unknown or something like that. I'll get the exact error message if needed.
Any help appreciated.
Thank you.

Thanks for the help. That and turning the WLAN to best performance took care of it. Thanks!
hey,
i have a x1 which i got on contract with vodafone UK
i am giving this phone to my girlfriend who is on orange.
i read on the vodafone website that since last year sometime, all of the phones that they provide are not network locked.
so i put my girlfriends orange sim and it boots up asks for my pin and i can make calls and send messages.
it does not, however, let me connect to the internet. she does have the unlimited internet bundle on her contract.
any ideas what i should do?
are there some settings i need to put in for it to connect to orange internet?
thank you in advance for all the help.

You need to get the Orange settings for the Internet and enable them.
Google Orange Wm6.1 internet settings (or similar) and you should find many sets of instructions.
You might even be able to get the Over the Air via the Orange website.
hi
thanx for ur advice
i googled it and came up with all the settings on the orange website.
however, now...the internet works.i can surf the net etc etc. however, msn messenger will not log in...it doesn't even ask me for username and password, it just says something along the lines of:
there's a connectivity problem. Make sure your in a good area with good reception and try again.
i open msn messenger and it lets me click sign in or cancel...no place to enter my username or anything...i click sign in and it comes up with the aforementioned message.
so i tried switching off the phone connection from the comm manager and just using wireless. but it says the same thing.
any ideas?
i've recently switched from 3 network (UK) to 02 (UK) because of the unlimited internet option on pay as you go but am not able to get online, when i type an address in PIE and press go it tries to establish a connection but i keep getting the "cannot connect" error, i've tried using the connection settings wizard over and over, i've even tried inputting the settings manually, i'm using the FixNOver 3.6 normal black rom which was working perfectly when on the 3 network, i've even tried switching radio roms but to no avail, anyone have a clue whats going on here?
