I'm using an XDA T-Mobile PPC (SX-56 ATT unlocked with 4.01.16 and Radio ver 6.25.02).
I wanted to see if anyone had the same problem and can help getting me back on WAP. Currently not signed up for any data plans, but using the GPRS WAP. Been unable to connect to the internet since last Weds. Antennna confirms that GPRS is connected from the signal using the the standard TM configuration from this site. IE hangs and eventually times out with a page not found. When the handheld is in the cradle, IE connects to the internet without problems.
Prior to this downtime it's been pretty solid, accessed as expected and never had this issue before. Did a hard reset to rebuild, but not fixed, however did notice the network search has recently been slow. Not sure some changes happened since TM stores started receiving the HP6315.
Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.
TIA
T-Mobile had blocked access for a while, but this morning on my way to work, I got some email on my XDA! I'm writing this now on my XDA, GPRS connection, and I haven't gotten a data plan. So maybe they are allowing "free WAP" access again. I am in Atlanla, so it may take longer in other places.
I have the same setup (XDA1, former ATT SX-56, now using the SIM card from my t-mobile Blackberry)
I can get voice to work and the connection shows GPRS, but whenever I try to open a web page I am confronted with an authentication dialog. Can anyone offer any advice? I do have the data plan with the Blackberry...maybe that is the problem?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
I had the same problem when I tried to "borrow" my wife's sim from her blackberry. It has something to do with the way they set up blackberries... I believe either they access the internet differently than other phones, or their data plans are structured differently or some combination of that.
I hope that helps...

Just thought I'd ask if anyone has any suggestions on this problem.
I just came here today from PocketPCPassion's forum, read some of the WM2003 posts, and decided to give it a shot. I first installed the xda developers ROM 1.2, then installed the WM2003 update (the .zip from the FTP server posted here as an IP address, login xda/xda).
(This is a T-Mobile device BTW).
I created a GPRS connection using internet2.voicestream.com as usual, and it connects just fine. However, attempts to browse with PIE result in "The page you are looking for cannot be found" errors. I've even tried browsing by IP address in case of DNS problems, no difference.
However, I set up a POP account in Inbox, and I can send/receive e-mail just fine, so I'm stumped.
Any ideas? I also tried VPN (internet3.voicestream.com), but it won't connect at all. I'm not sure if I need to request provisioning for VPN from T-Mobile.
As it turns out, this may be a local issue. I popped my SIM into a t68i and dialed-up via bluetooth from a WinCE device, and had the same problem there. Mail works, Web doesn't. Guess I'll call T-Mobile and see what's up. We had some severe storms here in Memphis Tuesday which have left lingering problems, this is probably related to that.
WOW just woke to the same problem, but hey you know me!
Try changing your AP from internet2.voicestream.com to wap.voicesteam.com that goo me back online.
If also iff the above doesn't work you might try running welcome.exe from the windows roor folder.
Good Luck!
Thanks Qman, that works for me too! I guess there's something wrong with internet2? Anyone else have this problem?
I didn't think T-Mobile allowed anything but WAP over the wap AP. Now that they've gone unlimited data though, maybe they don't care anymore...
internet3
Interesting...Here in the SF Bay area, i could connect to internet3 all day yesterday, but couldn't get mail or ie. It was as if t-mo usa's connection between their GPRS and the internet was down for a while...
..but t-mo usa use cinguliar's network here, so that could also have been an issue.
Maybe it was a temporary national t-mo problem.

Hello all, I own an 8125, but I do not own a data plan. Since I have wifi at school, I want to configure my phone to where it will NEVER connect via GPRS/Edge, or any other kind of net source that will cost me money. Since i heard if you walk outside the range it will attempt to connect via cingular provided net. I really cannot afford for this to happen. So what I am trying to do is disable everything but wifi, but I dont want to permantly disable it though, as I will be getting a data plan in 6 months or so. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
could i use this program to do that? http://forum.xda-developers.com/vie...ays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=agile+messenger
I have a cingular 8125 on the cingular network
this would be great for me also
well i just deleted the GPRS profile from the connections...but it might have resulted in some isses with connecting to my work network
i think you will have a problem with the mms.
right :?
is there a way keeping it but not letting it to auto connect?
I had the same Problem at my university and fixed it here:
Settings->Connections->Advanced->Choose Networks
For "Programs with automatic internet access use..." I've chosen "ISP" (which has an empty profile, if not, you can edit it and delete everything).
I hope you can understand what I mean, I tried to translate as I have a German ROM.
Regards
Carsten
Carsten, I chose "My Work Network" instead and nixed the GPRS profile as the OP did. I get no more attempts to access anything except wifi when it is enabled, which is ideal for me.
I deleted the gprs thing, and it seemed to work, BUT somehow I got a $350 bill :0
I called Cingular, They were able to turn it off on there end.
They also didnt charge me for the bill
All day today whenever I tried to access something on the Interent it takes literally 2-3 to even start loading the page. It just stays on the Locating... It will eventually open but it takes an awful long time.
If I switch over to Wifi then it works just fine.
This is a stock 8125 with the 2.25 ROM. I had to hard reset it yesterday so I don't think anything is messed up settings wise.
I did turn off proxy tonight to see if that would help and it did not.
My connection settings are as follows:
Both settings in Network Management are set to "My ISP"
I am in DFW FWIW.
Thanks
David
I have seen problems in all of NYC, San Francisco and Los Angeles since Tuesday. Very inconsistent and troubling problems on many different accounts, including HSDPA, EDGE and GPRS.
Personally, I think something was and still is wrong with the system.
Hello I trying to find GPRS network but it didn't find. Can someone help me how to find easily GPRS network? I using Nokia C3-00
Hiya,
I've got strange issue with T-Mobile (BTW bargain) internet service and my M700. 30% of times I'm trying to browse www site the explorer does nothing. It says 'Opening' and nothing happens. GPRS connection is being established instantly, clock is ticking, no data transfer tho.
I found a solution - I have to disconnect GPRS, go into settings>connections>connections>advanced>select network>edit and re-type password... Or, I can go into settings>connections>GPRS settings and change from PAP to CHAP authentication or the other way round (doesn't seem to matter as far as I change it)...
Than I can retry to connect and it usually works. I don't have to say that it is time consuming and annoying, do I?
Of course T-Mobile says it is a handset problem, HTC blames T-Mobile.
Anyone with the same problem? Cheers for any advise.
Has anyone been able to use SKYFIRE, whenever I have installed it (hard reset after another) it still won't connect.
Anyone have a solution?
I've had this problem, Skyfire started but kept displaying "check flight mode".
It was due to the proxy server used by my operator (SFR, France).
Under settings->connections->connections, uncheck "This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet" (write down your proxy server adress in case you have to use it again).
Worked for me but be careful, your operator may charge you extra money for using the Internet without any proxy...

Are you with ATT or T-mobile? If ATT, are you with the new att (MediaNet) or ATT Wireless (mMode)? If T-mobile and if not mistaken, a full data package is required, not just the t-zone (which seems to be limited net access)
If MediaNet, there shouldn't be any issues. If mMode, there is a lil tweaking to the connection settings that will need to take place.
I'm using mMode on 8525 (TyTn) and 8925/Tilt (TyTn II). Let me know if I can provide the settings to you.

Hey thanks for getting back to me on this, yes if ya haven't noticed, I have the ATT badge on my profile hehe...
But it turns out, because I'm still under my blackberry data service, it may prevent me from doing certain things since most of blackberry's internet goes through their server and then back to media net.
