Your guide to making serial cable is a bit iffy! You say we shall call this pin number 1 but we haven't got any confirmation about this... Is it pin 1 or not - doesn't fill me with confidence
Is it possible to make a USB to serial adaptor cable? I assume not as there arn't enough wires on the USB cable but I'm not familiar with this at all - yet!!
I've searched the web for a guide to serial cable pin layout but I can't find anything anymore.
Might just go and buy one and hope for the best.

Also...
Can see anywhere if you can use a laptop to connect via IR com1 and unlock the xda with Manipulator.
IR port is not active.
So no this is not possible.
Can anybody help?
I still cannot get this to work. I have made my serial cable using a null modem cable and the board inside the O2 cradle. I have used a circuit tester to find the continuity between the actual XDA connector and the power connector for the cradle (con2 i think) - It has all the relevent pins for the serial connection.
Manipulator sits on the scanning ports screen and ActiveSync seems to be stuck in a loop but does not connect. I have obviously disabled ActiveSync b4 trying to connect with Manipulator and vice versa.
I have also attempted to rewire this as advised by one of you on another forum - using just the TX RX and GND pins as I am only trying to unlock the phone. This still does not work.
If somebody could send me a diagram of the serial connection it would help because the instructions here are a little vague. With just TX and RX connections I have wired up as so:
Com Port------------XDA----------------Con2
2-----------------------8-----------------5th connector from left
3----------------------10----------------7th from left
5-----------------------2-----------------1st from left
Also looking down on the circuit board with con1 away from you and con2 toward you. Con1 Pin 1 is on the right - right?!
I could go and buy the cable but to be honest I would probably just go and get a new phone on O2 to use that sim. I would really like to get somewhere on this coz it's now annoying!
Working
Sweet, Sweet, Sweet.
Didn't work with Manipulator but works with terminal prog??
I am now unlocked
Radio 4.06
Wallaby 5.15
Dunno if there is a prob with it - but just to let you know...

Hi
Could anyone help with hooking up an RS232 link between my XDA2 and some CNC machinery?
In the past I have had success with Rx, Tx GND and software handshaking between CNC and a laptop. This is what I'm trying to emulate here.
On a XDA cable I removed the 9 pin female D type and replaced it with a 25 pin male.
The brown wire was originally connected to 9pin/2 (rxd???) I now have this going tp 25pin/2(txd??)
The red wire was originally connected to 9pin/3 (txd??) I now have this going to 25pin/3 (rxd??)
I've configured demo versions of PockeTTY and vxHpc to check for any upload / download activity and the IR beam is switched off.
I see absolutely nothing.
Any ideas? Is the XDA fundamentaly not suited to this application?
On the 25 pin the shield connects to pin 7 and 4/5 and 6/8/20 are connected respectively.
Any help appreciated.

Rob

Hi Folks,
Just wondering... I'm trying to get a little application to work on Hermes PDA and I need to connect a Serial device which has a DB9 RS232 connector...
I know there's a Serial port 'inside' the USB connection on the Hermes, I was wondering if anyone knows of a pinout etc. to enable me to build an adapter to plug in the bottom of the PDA which will then allow me to connect my DB9 RS232 device?
Any help gratefully received!...
Regards,
Rob.
no serial ?????
Hi FactionOne,
there's no serial port on on USB connector .
It's only USB-device port, mixed with audio signals on this port.
Bootloader got also support for USB device port.
So it's possible for the host to emulate serial support. That's all!
At least so far as i know

Hello, I've an interesting hardware question for you, xda community
My HTC HD2 falled down from the table while it was in charghing (so with usb cable connected).
The usb port broke, so I improvised a teardown to check the micro USB port pins on the motherboard.
I reach to reconnect power pins, so the phone charges correctly, but i'm not been able to find alternative points for data pins becouse of broken electric paths on the MB.
Now I'm searching for alternative points to restore totally the usb functionality.
Anyone (with a broken HD2 MB) can check where electric paths go UNDER the usb connector on the MB? ..or suggest me where I can find alternative points like factory usb testpoints on the MB?
many thanks in advance and sorry for my bad english...
