Hi all, I thought it would be a good idea to monitor the progress of ROM Updates for devices.
I have the O2 Xda Exec and experience the following issues:
Slowness
Crashing at least once a day requiring reset
When phone goes to 'Searching' mode it gets stuck there (<- anyone elsee seeing this?)
I spoke to O2 Data Support today. They state they are aware of the first 2 of these issues, and are working to release a ROM Update. They refused to give any timeframe, but did say it was expected to be quite fast due to the growing number of users.
Anyone got any more info out of anyone as yet? It may make the difference between keeping the device or sending it back for a refund.

Many thanks for starting the thread....
I also got the same information after someone from the O2 stores.
I wouldn`t advice anyone updating their O2 XDA Exec with other ROMs as this will invalidate your warrenty and you`ll no longer be entitled for support.
O2 are responsible to support us and the devices they sold other will need to compensate us for inferier service offered.
if I flash the rom
if I flash the rom of an O2 Exec with I-mate's,
and i have errors and flash back to O2 rom.
Will they notice?
Will I auto. lose my warranty ?

Not sure but doubt it....
Reply from O2
We do provide the software updates for the Xda. The O2 Xda Exec is a newly
launched mobile phone so we do not have the software updates for this mobile
phone on our website www.my-xda.com.
We will be updating our website soon.
I also have the same problem on a Exec, when it looses service, oftern it will not go back into service until i soft reset it.
I have spoken to data support, and are waiting for a cal back, They said they was unaware of this so i have pointed them to this forum

I've done some digging and it looks to me like the Exec ROM update will appear here:
http://www.my-xda.com/xdaexec_soft.html
Just a beta page for now, under construction. Other interesting pages too at:

I also had a word with HTC (the original OEM) in an exchange of emails, who assured me they are currently working on a new rom with all parties involved that will improve performance, speed, memory management and video quality. These are issues they are addressing in software adding that the capabilities in hardware are there but not fully exploited by this gold release of the MS O/S WM 2005, so patches are on the way...

I've just checked www.my-xda.com/xdaexec_soft.html and it says the latest software for download is v1.13.139.
So this may seem a silly question to most people but… does this refer to the rom version (which seems the most obvious to me) or the extrom version, as my own rom versions are:
ROM Version: 1.13.48 WWE
ExtROM Version: 1.13.139 WWE
so do I have an old rom?
thanks in advance
Must be ExtROM. As it says:
"This is the software Xda Exec has been first launched with in the UK and Ireland:
V1.13.139
Only install this software if your device has become corrupted by software installations or by a ROM restore meant for a different Xda model"
Nice to see the site coming to life though.

You mean: http://www.my-xda.com/xdaexec_soft3.html
Don't you? (Without login)
Otherwise it is an old update with the same ROM than the previous ones (1.13) but with some new cabs in extendedROM (188)
Yes, your URL is exactly what my URL leads you to :?
So, is v1.13.188 just a set of updated cab files? or does it actually have some improvements for the running of the device?
The site says the latest version "improves the O2 active UI", and also "disables error reporting" Surely these are no great improvements! I think most of has have either setup our exec in corporate mode - removing the O2 UI, and disabled error reporting. Or maybe we've even re-flashed our rom with the Qtek version, which seems a lot quicker and more stable!
Can anyone give more details of what v1.13.188 actually improves on?
Cheers

Yes, you are right. This version contains just a set of updated cab files.
ROM is the same.
Can you qualify your answer that the ROM is the same?
When I check the version numbers before, they have changed for 'CE Image' and 'Extended Image'. The only thing that doesn't is the Radio version.
What is the version number for the ROM, if it is not one of the above? I am sure the whole running of the device is much better. You also get a new battery indicator, new desktop theme, faster screen updates on changes of orientation, etc.
How do you know the ROM is unchanged?
*Update: In 'Device Information' the "ROM version" used to be 1.13.48, now it is 1.13.82! This is a new ROM!
Because the ROM (not ExtendedROM) version number is 1.13 than the others. The end of this number .188 is the version of ExtendedROM.
But maybe I missed something.
So the device as a whole runs faster with the update?
I have compared my 32-bit exec to my 16-bit xda-miniS, and the miniS runs about 4 times faster than the exec, even though the data bus is slower, and the processor (195mhz) is slower.
Can anybody confirm it it fixes the delay on wakeup? sometimes a have to wait around 10 seconds before i can use the device after i have brought it out of standby!
Cheers

hey guys.
after searching on this forum, all i found was that the searching tools are a bit rubbish.
so i was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction for finding out what o2 crap is safe to delete from my universal's extrom.
ta.
If you can't be bothered to look, I can't be bothered to tell you...
If the site is crap go somewhere else!
i did bother to look, and i know it's there, but the search isn't coming up with it
and i mean the o2 customizations are crap - this site is AWESOME!
sorry for the misunderstanding
fair enough....
i got an xda exec to, and yes O2 are crap for a few reasons 1) no new AKUs 2) there AKUs are **** anyway 3) Data tariff....
I have just loaded helmi AKU 3.5 - would give that a try, safe and secure.
see here for data tariff
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=284391
i can't find that rom on the ftp server, what folder is it in?
AKU 3.5

Its a good one
ta muchly.
I'm about to get my Trinity, unlocked. I live at Argentina and a friend of mine is bringing it to me. I've been trying to get the rom that would activate the GPS and the program to upgrade it but I've been unable to download it from the links I've found. It would be a good idea (may be) to start a thread where you can get whatever you may need to set up your Trinity properly.
If the Pro Users of the forum would help with it I can bet that would be really useful.
Unfortunatley what you request all used to be here. However in the last couple of weeks Microsoft have taken a very dim view of this forum hosting copies of their software (roms) and as such have insisted that they be removed.
If you have a hunt around you will find links to rapidshare etc. where these roms are still hosted (at the moment).

Hi, welcome to the club of Trinity Users. You can find all the links for trinity (or a majority of them) in http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Trinity
Also, all the ROMs have been moved to RapidShare. You can find them in this page http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Trinity_Upgrades
Have fun
here's the deal. i've been using defarias WM5 rom ever since i bought my wizard. I love it. i really do, but recently i got a dataplan and needed to use the wmwifirouter app, which requires aku3.3. i've spent hours on this site going through posts and have found one one thing.
there is no list of ROMs. there should be a definitive wiki entry on all of them, not just the stock ones.
so please could you link to all the WM5 ROMs you know of. Stock, rebuild, custom, aku2/aku3, we need a list of all of them
Hi all,
I am sure I checked the HTC website yesterday and the current roms were listed (both standard and orange). Looked back today and I can't seem to find them. Have they been taken off and if so does this mean official 2.1 is imminent?

I can still see them.
Same here, I can still see them all...

ooops... my bad sorry.
The internet connection I was on wasn't automatically directing me to the UK site which is more than likely why they weren't showing. Sorry.
