mytouch on tzones

keep this civilized
i do not care what theoretical opinion you may have, i want to hear the facts:
has anyone actually, physically used, or tried using the mytouch on tzones?
i do not want to hear anything about why it isnt going to work, or why i have to have their 25 dollar plan. i just want to know if people have used their mytouch on tzones.

It does not work, T-Mobile's server will track it and block the Mytouch from using any APN. Mytouch won't even function with the $19.99 Total Internet
is it like this on all apn's?
I had t-zones on before I activated the mytouch internet and it worked for the first day and then it told me in the browser to upgrade to the mytouch internet plan.

hd2 tzones?

can someone help me set up the tzones with an internation hd2? is it even possible?
apn needs to be set to internet2.voicestream.com
Has anyone confirmed if tzones works with the Tmobile version with no contract?
planning on getting an HD2
will the $5.99 t-zones work on it? going to get it used. been searching a lot of forums online and some say, yes, while others say, no. any definitive answer? just wanted to make sure before i buy it.
thanks a lot!
anyone? thanks!!
grandfathered tzones works perfectly with the TMO-USA HD2 if you buy the phone outright, no contract. been using with no problems since the day the HD2 launched in the US.
anyone else experiencing this? thanks!! i appreciate it.
can someone tell me where to put in the apn information? the actual steps to get to the screen, im a little lost
Hi. Just wanted to clarify this because I had trouble finding a definitive answer to whether or not tzones works on the US HD2.
It does work. I recently bought a used one from a friend and it works flawlessly. I have been using it now for about 2 weeks. Also, I added Android to it and tzones continues to work as well. Hope this helps others.
any updates? so basically we can get unlimited 3G internet for $6 (or I guess $10 now) a month? Can this be done with prepaid as well?
Prepaid, no... I am currently using a prepaid sim from them and they have shoddy data packages for it. Cant wait to get back to postpaid (damn layoffs). And yes, unlimited for $10. Not truly unlimited, but unlimited to 10gb(somewhere around there) then they throttle your speed to < dial-up speeds.

I want to get this phone for AT&T, butt I have a few questions

Hello all, It sure nice to meet people in a new section of xda. My last phones have been a HTC tilt, HTC fuze, HTC pure.
I want to get this unlocked. The questions are, can I get a cheap unlimited menianet plan for a dumb phone and use it on this phone, butt will att know auto switch my pda plan if I am using a non att branded smartphone.
If I can't do that can I simple just remove data plan from the phone on att. I know att forces you to have a pda plan but since this will be a non att branded phone???
I was looking at the HTC aries butt got turned off when I heard att blocked none supported apps, so does this one block them as well?
Thanks.
doubt it. they only have rules on phones they're contracted to sell like iphones. i'm on att without a data plan. the att website doesn't even know i have a mytouch. they still think i have my old phone that i got from att.
wouldnt you be unable to get 3g if you use this phone?
if it's a t-mobile mytouch, then 3g will not work. a rogers mytouch from canada will get 3g on att, though.

How come Winmo phone can use Web2go but not us?

Why is it that Tmobile HD2 phones can use the 10 dollar internet in both winmo (custom rom) and android but us mytouch 3g users cannot even with a custom android rom? They were both branded by Tmobile and they know both of there imei numbers so why cant we use the 10 dollar interent after we flash a custom rom? They are also both HTC phones aswell. I have tried just about everything short of changing my imei and i know that every time you try and use cell data it sends your imei and stuff to make sure that you have the correct plan. So why is that an HD2 can use the 10 dollar internet but we cant?
I am also curious about this.
the simple answer is, because no one cares about WinMo phones.
look at their market now in the US.
tmo could care less really. EVEN ON ATT, all the smartphones with winmo can use their cheaper $15 data unlimited.
oh and for the record the ONLY TMOBILE BRANDED ANDROID phone that works with web2go and/or cheaper data plans from tmobile is the SAMSUNG BEHOLD 2.
no other will work, and you cant consider the nexus one a branded tmo pone.
and yes the imei is why they block it no matter if you flash the rom.
Shhh. dont tell anyone but you can isuse web2go if you know what you are doing... same way all us old dash users used the 5.99 tzones as SP data
Sent from my HTC Magic
Vonrottes thanks for the insight you sir now have a pm
The Dash? My poor baby.

Tmobile US htc hd2 unlocked to use $10 unlimited data plan for non smartphones?

I was wondering if i can use unlocked tmobile htc hd2 with the $10 data plan (unlimited) that is available for non smartphones. Will tmobile realize that i am using htc hd2 and upgrade it to smartphone data plan? i am gonna make a contract with a non smartphone and add that 10 dollar data plan to use it on my htc hd2 Do you have to have an Unlocked htc hd2 (not tmobile branded) to do that? is it even possible either way?
Yes it is possible to do such a thing, but for how long is currently unknown. T-Mobile has recently started denying people using the non-smartphone internet with smartphones internet access as it is a violation of the TOS...so good luck!
So i can do it with the tmobile branded unlocked htc hd2? but dont they know that i i am using htc hd2 if i use the 10$ data plan and automatically upgrade it?
Yes they will know you are using an HD2, and yes, it is possible that they will upgrade it automatically. My advice; just opt for the 20USD unlimited smartphone data from the start...you won't have to setup the proxy or live in fear that your plan will be upgraded.
Isnt it 30 USD? if it was 20 then i can probably get the data plan but i am pretty sure the data plan is $30. Wait so if you dont get the $10 data plan on the tmobile branded unlocked htc hd2, will they know its a hd2?
There's no way to get around it. They will know what phone you're using. I do not know if they will make a change to your plan without confirming with you.
I don't know how you will actually enable the $10 plan in the first place though.
Thats a good point aswell. You have to have a device that supports the 10USD plan to even add it to your plan, so you may not be able to anyways. And the full internet is either 20 or 30 depending on your contract arrangement.
I recently got my phone and it's working for me. I get HSDPA speed with the $10 internet.
Yeah it should work.... just so you know you are defrauding the T-Mobile network. There's still a lot folks out there that are apparently still on the T-Zone plan as well....
Actually if you know or are familiar with those Asian run phone shops and ask nicely you don't even need a dumb phone to setup the $10 plan, the reps that work there will just call T-mobile and defraud the whole system for you.....
Yeah... that's just jolly.

Does it really bother you that somebody else has a good deal going with t-zones on the HD2? If it makes you feel better, T-Mobile will probably be forcing users to upgrade their plans starting this Wednesday.
Yeah to me it kinda does, because they know they are screwing the system but continue to do it. Anyways I formally ask that this NOT turn into another debate about the morallity of people using the 10USD plan versus the correct one. Thanks.

Bother me, nope.? I don't even have data plan... i refuse to pay for it when i can get free wifi @ my home/campus/work....
The OP asked a question and i voiced his options, all of them.... whether he chooses to to take the dark route or not is his business. In addition i don't see how you can justify calling T-Zones as "has a good deal going" when you are in fact defrauding the network, which i have clearly pointed out in my previous response. My advice is pretty much borderline crack pot shady... but it's been discussed about here numerous times and t-mobile has done nothing to fix his loophole.... yet...
Just to add about the $20 internet plan. I have it for my HD2 (part of family plan), the rep added it when we were renewing the contract and ordering the phones (my sister got the 3G slide which came with the $25 plan). So if you want it, try calling them and talking to a rep, they should be able to add it for you (YMMV).
T-mobile can block you at any time since they do have a database of their own IMEIs and they know what device is accessing their network by it's IEMI that is transmitted every time the phone accesses the network.
It would be a very simple task for T-mobile to block the non supported devices for that data plan
Well here is what happend when I upgraded one of my lines. I just upgraded to an HD2, a couple days later theytossed on a 104 web plan. Which is fine cuz I want to use the web anyways. when I first was using my HD2 it said that it needed a subcription to access the web, blah blah. So, i changed the wap settings to internet2.voicestream.com and it works great. 3g speeds and everything.
Why did you change to the slower proxy?

The stock epc.tmo doesnt work when you have the 104 (non smart phone plan). The speeds are the same with the internet2 settings. unless you know of a different one that works a well. It works just fine.
I had a phone recently, Nokia 5530, and had the 10 dollar internet plan and I noticed depending where I was in the country I sometimes would get full internet access and other times I would get off the standard tzone areas and it would show subscription upgrade required message.
I think it might depend on where you live for this to work. Perhaps the WAP settings might also work.
There is a way to get the $10 t-zone plan on your HD2
Here is a simple way to get the t-zone on your HD2..
1) Login to your t-mobile account via the web.. register first if you haven't do so.
2) when you login, T-mobile might choose your phone (maybe HD2 already selected).. at this moment, change your phone to any non-smartphone.. like samsung T509 or any non-smartphone as your default phone.
3) go to change service and add the $10 t-zone internet to your plan
4) set your HD2 with the right APN setting you're OK.
5) For me, if you're using internet2.voicestream.com in Winmo works OK and in Android works OK.
This is a cheated way or gray area... Either way T-mobile make extra $$$ from you. I think T-mobile knows this loop hole, but they keep it open because they don't want to upset us cheapie????
my 2 cents
did they get rid of this? I do not see the option anymore.
