X1 CPU Overclock - XPERIA X1 General

Hi,
I was wondering if this was possible, I know its early days for many people with the X1 handset and this may be in the wrong part of the forum, but could someone please advise if this is possible/being worked on?
Thanks,
Phil Rich

I honestly haven't seen it being possible to overclock any HTC phone since like the wizard. I must admit though it would always be nice to get a little extra speed and with this great battery we might be able to get more speed without completely ruining the battery life.

any tool which can overclock qualcomm cpu's should work
search around diamond/kaiser and other devices with the same cpu

I thought the kaiser wasn't overclockable??? If it was i'm gonna be pissed that i didn't do it.

kevinrirvine said:
no NEED TO GET PISSED FOR THE MOD IS WRONG HERE. IT is not possible as of yet to overclock any qualcomm processor period. Pocket hack master and xcpuscaler still don't support this processor type.

xcpuscalar does support qualcomm chipsets, I used to use it on my athena to run at full speed without scaling on occasion, and had it up to 663 (I think) a few times (but it wasn't stable), or was that something else..

wow, somebody's on a lovely rant night..
From what I know, no overclocking for qualcomm, but Rudegar may well be right, he doesnt have 8K posts for no reason.
Plus, te Athena has an Intex CPU
Also, no need to have a go at people if they get something wrong (or they do in your oninion)

Stress Levels...
Well I never knew this topic would create such a stir, it was only a quick question after all it would be nice to have maybe just a little more power. Had my X1 (Vodafone UK) for 5 days now and even though its a bit tempremental at times all in all its a sweet handset.

some ppl just dont know how to behave

welllll is any qualcomm insider gonna step in and write up an app pleeeaaaazzzzzzzzzzzzeeee?!?!?!? lol

Maybe someone should consider this, it always worth a try. Maybe its still early days, the hacks are not abundant enough.

You owned an Athena, aka Advantage, and did not even know the cpu/processor it used? Sad. Intel is much different than Qualcomm so please do not post unless you know what your talking about. Again, THE QUALCOMM CPU ANY VERSION CANNOT BE OVERCLOCKED.

Weird that, how you obviously know so much about what other people do...
I suggest you read what I posted before going off on a morose rant.
Shall I quote myself so that you can read it again, maybe I'll resort to childish behaviour and do everything in CAPS LOCK TO PROVE WHAT A COOL DUDE I AM .
I said you can overclock the qualcomm chipsets, I didn't mention CPU at all, mainly because I misread what you'd posted (small screen jolting bus ride etc) and thought you said you couldn't overclock a qualcomm based chipset.

PHM v5 soon to be available for Mogul! Overclocking the 6800!

I just stumbled on this recent thread where the master of PHM himself stated that he is currently working on version 5 of PHM and that it will support the msm 7500 chipset. Hopefully be available by March.
He stated that he will also keep an updated blog with entries regarding the progress of the project.
I'm so excited i think i just pooped. -it's ok, I'm actually sitting on he toilet while posting this. Man I love this phone!
oops! sorry, here's the link to the thread..

hah that's my favorite thing to do, poop while browsing on the mogul. do you think it'll help our ram issues out?

I don't know if pooping will but PHM will make apps opn, close, and respond very fast compared to stock speeds. The only thing that makes me weary of OC'ing the Mogul compared to the success of the 6700 is the fact that the 6700's chip is actually an underclocked 624mhz. In regards to the 6700, PHM actually lifted the "speed governor" so we can use it at 624mhz instead of 416Mhz or whatever its shipped speed was. With the Qualcomm msm7500, on the otherhand, we will literally be overclocking. I don't see the huge performance boost of 50+% we saw on the 6700 applicable to the mogul, vogue, touch, etc.
I sure hope that I am wrong though!
I wonder if seido will team up with Xstatic and will release a liquid cooling heatsing for this thing. even a 10mm casefan in the back would be fine with me (as long as it's ladled with ghostly internal LED's)
Woohoo... MaximumPC rig of the month in PPC formfactor! I'm getting silly, I'll stop now.
Now I get it. I was wondering how the heck people drop their phones in the toilet.
There's no way you can safely, significantly, overclock the Titan. Maybe by a little bit, sure. But if you tried to do a major overclock, you'll likely end up getting freezes, or worse, frying something. This isnt like a PC where you can put more cooling fans or whatever.
Still, will be interesting to tinker around a bit

I've used it on my sprint mogul with no luck. Doesn't work.
I dont want to overclock, the mogul overheats badly enough as it is. What I want to do is underclock,at least when I dont need speed. That would solve so many problems.

July came and went with no update, oh well.

IS Leo Really 1 GHz?

I cooked 28011 and i found after boot that the about option clearly shows 1 GHz
I cooked a clean rom, removing the HTC messaging and some common stuff.I thought that LEO has a shell over shell, i mean for every MS settings or Progeam, HTC has a replacement disabling it(MS Part).
So far, it is working fine.If any one need i can upload the ROM, though Leo has excellent ROM chefs.
I used old style kitchen and EXTReloc tool.
i'll be happy to try it out and i really dont think the hd2 is clocked at full 1ghz...
You do know there is a whole thread to this very issue http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=602225
have a read through and see if there is an answer yet. It appears as though the CPU uses scaling so it uses 1GHz when needed not all the time. They are still looking to see whats true and not though
Not again!

how long could you drive with this speed before bmw is broken?
same time like normal driving?

i think my english helps me and other that your anser comes like i doing you boxing or so. i am sorry of you me missunderstanding.
so i will correct my sentence now:
its your hd2 that will be dead nearly in 8 month by using 1 GHz for all applications thats not needed the speed.
i say it to you as a serious man that have this do learning by dead phone and 500€ to trash.
i hope, your phone will live longer ....

HD2 already has an overclocker, why can't we?

So most of you know that the HD2 can already overclock their phones which isn't fair and, in my opinion, unnecessary, but guess the snapdragons are just easy to overclock...
So when do you think the TP2 might be able to get an overclocker or will it even much be able to be overclocked? I know no2chem was attempting to do it but then he stopped updating his website .
If I can overclock my phone to 800mghz I don't think I'll be switching this phone in anytime soon.

So is there really no hope now? I would so have gone up on the overclocker if I knew anything about the subject lol.
I imagined it would have already came out for this phone but maybe everyone is wishfully expecting that someone (who may also be wishfully hoping) will do the job lol .
We should start a bounty just like the android forum has! Donations please!
I believe if there was a bounty we could start some development for this and hopefully have a working overclocking tool by the end of the summer! If one of the mods or senior members would like to step in and head this project I will do everything I can to back them up! anyone interested PM me! We need to get this going! This device is more than a year old!

Has ANYONE ever overclocked the Qualcomm MSM7200A? The CPU may be locked... Although I recall someone saying it can be UNDERclocked.
EDIT: OK, I did some searches. It turns out that the MSM7200A has TWO CPUs, one at 528 (arm11) and one at 256 (arm9). I suspect that this would be difficult to overclock, since the secondary CPU would also have to be overclocked.
The chip has impressive built in capabilities, I had not realized that the graphics support and video was that good. Overall the CPU seems to be built for consistent activity, being sturdy rather than built for speed - other than the 528 Mhz...

This CPU has been effectively overclocked in Android, but to my knowledge not in WinMo so far. The second CPU is the graphics processor and the data processor for calls and stuff(think 3G)
I believe in android people have gotten it to 768Mhz which would be great for Windows Mobile!!

Well, maybe we should ask over in the Android forum - maybe someone who has overclocked there can tell us what he/she changed. People are offering a bounty to the person who can overclock it - so far only $30, but I bet more people would contribute.

The most important part is to definitely stuff it up your nose
I will give you three reasons why this question is the most stupid i have heard on XDA.
1. The phone has not even been released yet in 99 percent of places.
2. The phone has not been rooted and we dont even know if it can be rooted.
3. the source code has not been released so playing with kernel aspects is a no go.
Im sure i could think of more reasons, but i cant be arsed;P

thanks for the information, i might even understand what stuff up means.
4. We hear enough about the htc desire overheating, who wants to tempt fate overclocking a desire hd? (Although, I don't think there will be overheating problems with the DHD, since it has 45nm processor and a aluminum body which should act as one big heatsink )
You should try checking what is the freq range in the scheduler, and just push to /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/
If the max is 1 GHz, we'll have to wait for kernel src + root.

[Q] Will G2 and MT4G be able to share ROMs like G1 and MT3G?

This is probably a stupid question but I was just curious. I know the rooting procedure is nearly identical for both so I thought I would ask.
With my MT3G I would often look through the G1 section for ROMs, wondering if it will be the same way here?

Most of the roms in the magic forum were geared toward 32a anyway, but i don't anticipate that being an issue with mt4g. Let's see what happens.
Please post questions in Q&A section. Thanks
in that case can we go even further to ask if the the kernels for overclocking the g2 will work with the mt4g?..

lol, yup. I overclock the **** out of my mt3g, but that's because it desperately needs it. Just flashed ezterry's 614 kernel the other night, and wow, what an improvement. It's still slow, but not nearly as bad as it was.
Once I have a clean version of Android on the mt4g (CM6 or anything without sense) I can't imagine I'll ever need to overclock.

That's true. When I first OC'd my mt3g to 245-528, it ran much faster and battery life actually improved significantly. Why in the HELL they didn't set it that way from the factory is beyond me.
