Flexmail 4 - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

I have just installed Flexmail 4 (2008 edition). I have a few questions related to the software and possible hacking. I am new to using this software and I would appreciate if anyone can guide me. Thank you in advance.
1) I have read in the past that flexmail has to be running to receive emails. I have played around with the software but was unable to receive email when the program was closed. Is it possible to have flexmail closed yet still receive emails?
2) I have read about changing HTC Home email icon and directing it to flexmail rather than Tmail. If this is true does flexmail still have to be running to receive emails?
Sorry if these questions have already been answered. I may have missed or misunderstood the resources provided to me on XDA.
Again thanks in advance.

I was considering posting it under Q&A. However, after my research I thought best to post it in D&A because registry changes may have to be created. In addition, it is possible that another user of flexmail may be inspired to create a similar application.
All in All if mods want to move it they can and I do apologize for posting here if not needed.

Yes, FM has to be running to recieve the emails, for all types of servers. Check WebIS website, they have a list of all the reg values and how to create shortcuts.
And, yes this should have been posted in Q&A.

1. Minimize. You can't exit it, or no, it doesn't work.
2. No idea, but yes, it'd still have to be running.
3. You didn't ask, but Flexmail works rather good. Memory usage is good, battery usage is good, and it's pretty flexible. Only thing I really wish they'd implement is per-mailbox notifications. I really want to know when an email hits a specific mailbox vs "just another email. Someday I guess.

LOL on #3. I emailed WebIS, and their support isn't that great. It sucks! Makes new local folders useless.
For the mem consumption, my old 6800 could barely handle it.

HTML Emails on WM5

hi, could someone confirm if they are able to receive and read html emails ok on WM5 with a universal? Do you get a blank email body or is it converted to text? I am running a BA with WM5 and seem to have a problem viewing html emails, cant see the body of the email. I checked on my pc and the problem emails all seem to be html. Plain text displays ok. Just wanted to check if they display ok with a final WM5 rom or if its due to the fact that the BA rom is beta. Thanks
HTML mails are still not supportet.
Yes i know they are not supported. But under WM2003SE if there is text in the email it will display the text only, under WM5 the whole body of the enail is blank on my BA. That is what im asking.
Hmmm. I received HTML mail, but it's usually junk so I never really checked to see what it does.
But I have to say, except for the persistant memory, I really like to know what MS improved in Windows Mobile other than break a lot of existing apps
The email app hasn't changed, the Word and Excel programs don't seem to work any better at reading native documents, Activesync is worse and less featured and the Microsoft bluetooth stack is still no better than it was before (still doesn't support advanced audio). Oh yeah, they added a Powerpoint reader. Oh boy
I can see the alternative text. I think thats the text part of the multimime message.
Hey Americano.
Try adjusting your manners when one of our european colleagues tries to offer you some assistance. That is what you were hoping for when you posted, was it not, ..assistance? Maybe then someone else will answer your question correctly.
Just a tip from someone who appreciates the time others can give to help when in need.
That last post of mine was not aimed at you DaleReek, but your fellow american brethren with an attitude.

Is this directed at me? Where in my comments am i rude? Please point out where my manners need adjusting. I merely restated my question as the response did not answer my question. If you havent got anything substantial to add why post?
If you would care to look at my previous posts you would see i have helped as well as asked others for help previously without any problems.
And for you information i am british now living in america.
@ everyone else. It seems my question is being misunderstood. Let me rephrase:
I am posting this here because JasJar users have a commercial rom which would be a good benchmark to determine whether my problem is due to the unfinished nature of the BA WM5 rom or a limitation of the email app itself. I KNOW html email viewing is not supported in WM5 nor in WM2003SE. But this is my scenario:
When i was running WM2003SE and i received an html email containing only text i would see the text no problem. When i receive html with images these are stripped away leaving only the text. This is to be expected.
Under WM5 receiving an html email containing only text the email shows a blank email message. There is no text displayed. As others have pointed out you should still see the text. I was merely asking what JasJar owners were experiencing on their devices.
I am fully aware that html email is not supported. I am fully aware that the BA WM5 rom is not final. I was just trying to ascertain where the fault may lie, with the BA rom or with WM5 in general. To all that have tried to answer thanks. At the moment i think i have my answer. Thanks to cchris and MBastian
To Efjay:
Let's end this, as it's not productive and as you rightly state. I'm not exactly posting anything helpful at the moment. But remember; everyones writing style may be deemed ambiguous and is therefore perceived differently. From your justification for your writing style, I accept that I MAY have been mistaken about your attitude and therefore should not have posted my opinion. It just read that way to me. If I have caused you offense...I apologise.
Now we've got that out of the way....let's get back to problems and solutions. Funny that, as I don't have any solutions for your problem at the moment. But I will post any useful info, as i learn it. Best of luck.

Custom Email Notifications?

I originally posted this in the Hermes section but I now realize it should have been posted here. Please excuse the crosspost though.
Our Blackberry's have a way called "Level 1 Messages" to react differently to incoming emails based upon Sender and/or Subject text. This can include playing a different notification alarm and/or vibrating.
I'm trying to implement the same functionality into our new Cingular 8525 devices (WM5) and I'm not having much luck.
I've tried working with the POOM (Pocket Outlook Object Model) and it seems that doesn't cover incoming emails.
I then tried looking into MAPI and it seems that Messaging related issues only deal with SMS messages. We receive our Exchange email via Activesync over OWA (I think) and so that leaves MAPI out.
I am both amazed that this is that difficult and amazed that there aren't 500 questions related to this already here as I thought this would be a VERY common need.
If I can't figure this out, we'll have to go back to Blackberry and that's not what I want to do.
I looked at the software phoneAlarm and it supposedly has this functionality but it is very unstable and we could never get the Custom Email alerts working.
TIA - any help at all will be greatly appreciated.
Yes, I searched first and followed all those goose chases but I still have not found a working solution.
I'm interested in such an app as well and have been unable to find one. I'm reviving this thread in case something new has developed.
Phonealarm provides such functionality, as well as an application from Quore fucntions called "inboxtones". Google it

What app. do you use for birthdays?

I need some suggestions on what applications is best to use for keeping track of birthdays?
It would also be nice that the applications auto sends a SMS message to the person is question
Birthday app
This is not really worth a new thread, but would belong in Q & A type thread like this.
But to answer your question, I would not use anything else but the HTC Sense contacts app called people. You have the choice of entering a birthday or an anniversary. You can set the reminder to between 1 minute and 3 weeks or so.
Sense also links to facebook which also has birthdays.

Sorry, didn't read part B.
It's possible to do this but would require some serious work by a programmer.
There are auto sms apps around.

Help!!

Hi all,
Some ROM's have a built in app called "Send Receive All" - which basically initiates a SEND/RECEIVE for all email accounts, when the app is run.
I was wondering if anyone has the cab file for that application they would like to share.
I know we can schedule an auto send/receive for all accounts - I don't want to do that as I don't have signal where I work, and I don't ant to waste battery life ..... I am also aware that there are apps that can schedule a send/receive. THESE ARE NOT WHAT I WANT.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Please see here. Btw, going forward, please make your thread subject lines more detailed. It'll make you look nicer and more people will click in and possible help.

Is there any way to make the email preview count as marking it 'read'?

The title pretty much explains it, is there a registry change that can allow mail flicked through in the preview in the HTC email app to be marked as read instead of clicking on to them to go to the full message?
Sorry if this has been answered but I couldn't find anything when searching, thanks for your help.
+1 please!
Having to open it up in WM is annoying and pointless, why can it not be like SMS's??
Anyone ever find an answer to this? Got a TMoUS version yesterday, and it's really my only gripe with the device.
+1 from me as well. That would be an excellent feature.
Yes please!
count me as another!
Would like to know this too its quiet annoying having to open the email.
and also... either make it look like sms, either make the fonts smaller (or the "page" wider)
There's a Cab on here which gives you option (within the email client) to "Mark all messages as read", which is handy.
And huzzah! I think this is it...
