Hey there!
I wonder if there's any way to manually remove an item in the list of installed application on Xperia (WM6.1)? I have a couple of annoying programs there that just won't go away. WM said that the uninstallation couldn't be fully performed in these cases, and asked if I wanted to remove the items from the list. But they are still there. I even made a system search and removed all files related to those programs, and I also deleted all references to them in the registry. But they continue to appear on the list. Where the heck are they stored, I wonder? Is it text in a specific file? Suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks
Same problem here.

Somehow I have removed all the shortcuts from my programs folder, i.e. they no longer show up when i press start, all i get is
Today
Programs
Settings
If I go into programs all i see is the games folder
I can still run the programs from their defualt folders.
Anyone know a quick way to reinstall all these shortcutS or am I going to have to do them all manually ?
Not sure i even know what files types (shortcuts) or where they should be.
I am assuming they should be in /windows/programs as it is nothing there ?

re
OK sorry for wasting yer time, admins remove or delete as you feel fit.
For the record though, not that anyone is likely to ever do this but....
This is how I believe I caused the problem
It started when I was trying to load an irc app on my phone.
I needed to put the app in /windows/startmenu and run from there
I copied across from my desktop
Using resco explorer I went into /windows/startmenu but it wasn't there.
So foolishly i started playing around and somehow in properties decided to untick/tick the hidden box for attributes
The result was that all files in /start menu/program folder were hidden
So by changing it back (somehow!!) through the properties, attributes, it's now all back.
So if your still reading this (fools) sorry, user error on a big scale.
Cheers, Numb
I have a MDA, and recently tried to delete Full Screen Keyboard. After I deleted the files, I noticed that the Programs on storage memory list was blank, and I couldn't uninstall programs, or see the memory I had left. I did a full backup, Full Screen Keyboard is back, but the installed programs list isn't. Any suggestions on how to fix this, or a third party program for uninstalling programs?
Pocket Mechanic?

Do you have pocket mechanic installed?
It caused your exact problem on my device (apache)
a while back. You have to uninstall programs from the
pocket mechanic uninstall screen after it's installed.
I've had the same problem once with my Smartphone (SPV C500).
The reason for this was a program with a bad "uninstall procedure"? When I removed the program using Active Sync the list appeared again on my phone.
I am having this same issue except that it is no longer in both my ActiveSync or Uninstall List.
The program was in my uninstall list. I chose it to uninstall, it worked for a bit and the program disappeared from the list, but not the device. So I connected the phone to my computer and selected the program from ActiveSync to uninstall. Again, it worked for a bit and then showed me the list without that program but its still in my phone.
How can I get it out without a hard reset?
Thanks
My random access has stopped working. Contacts load up, but for some reason the bar across the side is gone! I attempted to reinstall it, checked the registry to see that the settings were how they were supposed to be, and they were. I finally just installed another .cab i found for random access and it just made it so my contacts wouldn't start at all!
luckily i had backedup earlier today, but apparently the problem was then too because i still don't have random access. If anyone has any ideas i'd love to hear them.
Here are the files for the non cab random access. Open the file names up on your computer and go into the windows and delete them as well as uninstall the cab you have.
If you want to reset your registry back to normal? Here is the origional key
":MSPOUTLOOK contacts"
You can also remove all the stuff and soft reset. make sure your contacts work and then drop all the files but the note into \Windows. redo the reg edit, you should be good.
Here you go. Let me know if that works.
where can i get the cabbed version? every download i get is the non cabbed version, and i can never get it to run, thanks
I figured it out, could be help other people who can't ever seem to get random access to work.
In contacts go to Menu - Options - Uncheck Show alphabetical idex
That fixed the problem for me.
After restoring some of my phones databases after a hard reset I have found that in my application list I have a whole bunch of stuff that I had installed previously but don't currently have installed. After highlighting and clicking 'remove' it brings up a message saying the program isn't installed but would I like to remove it from the list of apps. So I obviously click yes...yet the application remains in the list.
This has made the list somewhat difficult to sift through in order to find a genuinely installed app. Is there any other way I can remove these names from the list?
Thank you.

There may be an easier way, but the best way I found was to reinstall the app, then remove it ...
@Redeyedrichard
sometimes reinstalling doesnt work...i found another fix online which works...
Start memmaid
jump to > databases > database usage> SwMgmtMetadataStore > browse
Look for the entry which cannot be uninstalled, highlight it and delete it
don't forget to soft reset after
Go to the folder \Windows\AppMgr and you'll see folders of (presumably) installed software.
Delete any folder in here that you want.
(But, when you delete a folder that program cannot be uninstalled normally, so take care to remove only those which have been restored and not reinstalled!)

Not quite sure how to access this...what is "memmaid"??? Thanks.
And Bright Light, your suggestion didn't work. All of the apps appear in that folder are currently installed. Thanks anyway.

Hi again,
I`m new to android and have now got my Wildfire rooted and running the latest Wilpuzzle rom.I`ve also got live wallpapers running, got overclocking running and even Angry Birds so thanks to everyone for the help and advice on these forums.
The last little thing that is now got me is can you permanantly delete trash. As I`ve been playing around I have quite often put things on the screen then wanted to get rid of the icon etc.
So I do a long press and the trash icon appears in the notification bar at the top then I just drag the item to the bin and it`s gone.Over the past couple of weeks I`ve done this loads of times. My question is- Is there a permanent delete option like on Windows or is it permanently deleted each time I drag it to the trash?
If the permanent delete option is there where is it?
Thanks again
you can remove the app by downloading apps like easy uninstaller or uninstaller from the market.
or you can uninstall them from menu - settings - apps - manage apps... etc
or if you're using launcher pro, open app drawer, long press an app and drag it over the trash can until it says drop to uninstall, or something like that.
For the built in widget's, I dont think there is a permanent delete option. But, for 3rd party apps, you can simply uninstall the app itself.
you can also delete any folders that have been created by discarded apps using a file explorer
Thanks for the replys,
I have a file explorer and also know how to uninstall unwanted apps, but what I want to know is,when you drop something in the trash can, is it automatically permanently deleted or is it like Windows trash can where the files or whatever are dropped into sit with the option to permanently delete or restore.
If it is where do I find it on the system to find the recently deleted files/apps etc?
It (The widget) is just removed from the home screen, that's it. Its not uninstalled or removed or anything. (Unless you use LauncherPro/ADW's Uninstall Feature from the Trash Can).
Widgets are basically "functioning" shortcuts like the shortcuts on your Windows Desktop (Eg: Windows Vista/7 Clock, Calendar Widget etc), and, the same effect occurs when you remove a widget as is the case with removing a windows shortcut, i.e., only the shortcut gets removed. The app remains untouched. You can add it later as and when desired.
Lastly, there is no concept of Recycle Bin in Android as far as I know to view recently deleted apps / files etc.

Thanks 3xeno thats exactly what I wanted to know.
