Keep GPS on in Standby - Touch HD General

I would like to use my HD as a GPS logger. For that it should be in standby and the GPS should stay on.
Unfortunately it turns it off when pressen the "power" button.
I tried setting gpd0 to 0 for resume, suspend and unattended based on:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=245773
This unfortunately does not help.
I also tried to just switch the screen off by software without touching the "power" button.
But also in that case the GPS turns off after a while.

Stopping accidental clicks/presses from face when on phone?

Anyone know how to stop an accidental clicks or other screen presses from taking place when I've got the phone to my face during a call?
Si.
I use a freeware app called Screen Off, download it here:
http://www.handango.com/PlatformPro...latformId=2&N=96806&productId=125781&R=125781
Basically when I make a call or answer a call I have screen off assigned to a button, so I can then press the button to turn the screen off. To turn the screen back, just press the power on button.\
Hope this helps,
Or maybe you could simply turn PDA off with a single power button press...and when you're finished simply turn it on. Remember that the radio is always running (unless you hold the power button for 5s).
My screen turns off automatically after about 20 seconds when on a call - haven't set it to do this - in fact can't even find an option - it just seems to be the default setting. The only way to turn it back on is to press the green or red buttons, or just flick the volume control either way - works for me. (O2 XDA Mini s)

Macrinus - thx that works a treat.
That's weird, your screen turning off after 20 seconds, mine turns off as configured in "Turn backlight after..." and "Turn off device...".

Yeah, it is weird - bit annoying, but sensible really to save the power - Perhaps its just the device turning off then, with the phone still running .... comes back to life with a flick of the volume though - touching the screen won't re-activate it. Will have to time it a bit more closely !

Radio on screen off
I too turn the device off when I'm on a call (although I only discovered I could without ending the call this morning). Otherwise, my ear activates the Start menu.
Doh!
if only the backlight is turned off, the screen WILL still react to face contact!
I understand that either the device (less the phone side!) via power button, or the screen must be turned off via an utility.
It may exist, but I know no proggie able to lock the touchscreen without turning it off!
(pitty, my axim X50v can lock the screen without turning it off via a Hw sliding button9

How do you turn the Phone OFF?

This is NOT a JOKE!
I have a HTC Apache.
How can I turn the phone off?
Button 1. Press to turn on and off your device or backlight.
a.When I press it, the backlight turns off, press it again turns backlight on.
b.Hold it down and it just turns the backlight off
I am downloading HTC Apache AKU 2.2 Software Update now and will install it shortly
As far as I'm awarem you can't turn them off... If you don't want to be disturbed, turn flight mode on, but I've never figured out a way to actually turn it off, short of ripping the battery out, but this might be risky on some devices. Sorry, I don't know much about the devices I don't have, and I only have a Blue Angel and a Universal...
I've not tried it on the apache, but could you try my program VJEschaton, using the option
Code:
VJEschaton -sleep

It should be able to put Intel xscale based phones to long term sleep (ie effectively switch it off).

Thanks for the infor.
Why would they make a phone without a OFF SWITCH???
In the manual it says, "Always turn off your device before perorming a soft reset or install/replace the battery..
Don't get me started on them not including the power off feature:

A short press of the standby button will put the PDA in standby. Holding it longer turns the backlight on and off.
If you hold the end call button for a few seconds, it puts the phone part in flight mode.

iGo8 and suspend mode

I can't turn off my HD when iGo8 is running, no matter if it is minimized or in background or running on screen. It will turn on again for a fraction of second then it turns off and after a second turns on again and so on. It's annoying because I cannot put it in my pocket for a while while geocaching or manipulating with phone at all.
Did you find any solution for that issue? I've the same problem, but did not found anything yet...
GPS in suspend mode
Same problem with Igo here. If I'm on battery power and use either the "Smart Power Save" or "Use device setting" in Igo device settings the device goes into suspend mode and the GPS stopps working. As discussed in this tread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=483034) this is because the GPS chip turns off in suspend mode. IGo would then turn on and off every few seconds...
I would love to run Igo with GPS working in suspend mode (to save the battery) - if anybody has a solution let me know. I've tried the mobilemagic's function to keep the GPS on in suspend mode but unfortunately it doesn't work...
P.s.: using Igo version 8.3.2.71348 (Jan 7)

My GPS will not turn off in suspend mode, I have plenty GPS tracking sw running in background and it works well when in suspend, even iGo8. However iGo will keep flashing on screen when in suspend. Sometimes iGo8 will loose connection to GPS when resuming from suspend and must be restarted, it's just crappy software.
If you want to keep GPS chip running while Igo is in suspend mode try to add following lines in SYS.TXT file which is located in the main memory (not in SD card) My Device -> Program Files ->iGO8:
[power]
powermgm_state=0
skip_resume_process=1
skip_suspend_process=1
Or alternatively you may try this setting:
[power]
disconnect_gps_on_suspend=0

GPS off in standby mode

I'm using a program for GPS tracking that records the current placement of the phone. I found out, that the GPS receiver is not working when the phone goes into standby mode (screen shuts off, usually after 30 seconds). During that time the program doesn't record the coordinates and only resumes after I wake the phone up.
The only solution is to set the timeout off, but the battery consumption increases too much. Is there a way to keep the GPS receiver running but still be able to lock the phone/shut down the screen?
Not a solution of your problem but still might be interesting for you...
I use GPS Cycle Computer for logging my track. It is working even in standby and has a great feature which is an option to select GPS run interval (no need to log every second) to reduce battery ussage.
Thanks, that's a very useful app.

GPS Turns off in sleep mode

Hello i've a question about the gps module in the diamond 2.
I sometimes use rungps on my mountainbike but when i use the button above on the hardware to turn the screen off, also my gps turns off. How can i fix this problem? Is there a solution to use gps in stand by mode or something?
I've this phone for a short time so... when people do have tips for other handy software, you're welcome
BlackMe
Just use this Tool to switch your screen off.
Weird. I use Rungps as well, but no problem so far of losing signal after pressing the button. It happens with TomTom; if I press the button, the signal is lost.
