Media Player and Headphone Issues - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV Themes and Apps

When I plug the HTC HEadphone adapter in with my own headphones the sound does not go tthe headphones, but stays on the speaker. This is a NEW problem... I have been using my headphones/ HTC adapter since I've had the phone.
Also this may/ or may not be related but today I nopticed that my Main Memory goes DOWN when I start playing a MP3 file in Windows Media Player. If I open System Memory after hitting PLAY, I can watch the Program/ FREE memory go from +/- 131mbs down to +/- 30mbs in a matter of seconds.
Why is this happening?? Are the two issues related??
Thanks

Volume Too Loud

This may sound totally ridiculous to most of the posts that I found regarding volume on the Hermes (most problems being volume too low), but for me, it's just the opposite. I just got my 8525 and ran the SIM unlock and updated the radio to 1.51. Then, when I went to listen to mp3s via headphones, I realized that the volume was too loud and that the system volume barely affected it. When it was near 0, it would still be too loud, then when I lowered it all the way, it would just be muted.
I know that I can use an in-line volume adapter to lower it, but it's another adapter to connect to the one that already has to convert the mini-USB to 3.5mm and would just make it bulkier.
Are there any software / registry hacks to lower or increase the volume sensitivity control?
the OEM headphones have a volume control on the side, is that not working?
I'm using an adapter to use my own headphones. I tried looking for an adapter that had a volume control, but haven't found one yet. Anyone find one that does that?
emmfan i have the same problem as you. I also have the USB adapter (htc speedport>3.5mm, standard usb, htc speedport) and using my 3.5mm headphones is just WAY too loud. even the default system sounds are painful to listen to, so that throws listening to music out the window. The strange thing is thatI vaguely remember this NOT being a problem... either way, I have the same symptoms as you. The system volume sliders do extremely little in way of volume changing, too... I'd really like if there was some way to fix this, because now my investment in the Adapter is going to be a waste..
Hmmm, I don't remember if the WIZARD had a 2.5 or 3.5 connector but it had a VOLUME CONTROL. Maybe (in worst case with an additional adapter from 3.5 to 2.5) it will work properly?
I ended up getting an additional adapter for volume control (http://www.amazon.com/Shure-EA650-C...?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1193240874&sr=8-1), which made the cable ridiculously long. Too bad they don't have a mini-USB to 3.5mm adapter with a built-in volume control. I also noticed that I lost some sound quality when I used the volume control adapter.
I finally decided to try a bluetooth headphone adapter and went with the i.Tech Clip R35 (http://www.itechdynamic.com/en/products_spec.asp?cid=2&pid=02030). The sound wasn't so good with winmo5, but now that I upgraded to winmo6, it's a lot better. And no more unnecessary adapters and cables, plus AVRCP makes controlling music even easier.
Sorry to bring up an old post, but haven't been able to find a fix yet. Anyways, I am having the same volume problem. The system volume is on the next to the last click, and media player is down to 5%, and it's still way too loud. Any help? I updated my 8525 to Schlap's 4.22 if that helps.
could that be some kind of bug? i cant imagine what its like at 100% with max system volume. lol..
i listen to music with in-ear earphones via usb-3.5mm adapter too.
i put the system volume to level 3, sounds beautiful to me.. neither loud nor soft. and volume of incoming calls/sms tones are just nice too..
the volume of music doesnt change much by adjusting the volume of the media player, its more dependent on the system volume.
and i found out that if your system volume is, for example, 50%, the volume of the media player is actually capped at 50%. that means there is no difference if you increase the player's volume beyond 50%. (applys to htc audio manager, not sure about wmp)
btw im using softbank x01ht with official htc rom
does your media player app have an equalizer/pre amp function (TCPMP) you can turn that down or disable the EQ making the volume lower

I've been using windows media player, but also tried HTC music player. Same thing for both. I have also tried the equilizer both on and off, and different settings. No difference, what so ever.
Since I received a 'extUSB --> 3.5mm' converter today I've the same problem.
Just to loud even when everything is put on the lowest setting possible.
Anyone a solution?
After upgrading to Windows Mobile 6, this doesn't seem to be a problem. But most of the time I am using Bluetooth headphones which also work much better in winmo6.
Not here.
Sadly, I have the same problem
Playing a song on Windows Media Player with left volume slider down to 1 click and volume of player at 5%. Still way too loud for office use without headphones.
I just tried it with TCPMP - the same song - and volume contorl knob for TCPMP fixed the problem. Anyone know why Media Player is doing this?
I've received today a new headset I ordered for my Hermes. It's the HTC U110 Headset Audio Adapter with 3.5 mm audio jack.
The headset has no volume control and now the volume is way too loud (and noisy).
Is there already a solution for this?

Windows Media Player issues

I'm still using the standard Windows Media Player built-in to WM6.
I just noticed this problem yesterday.
I was going to use my Windows Media Player to play a list of music I have on my memory card. It was only playing 15-sec clips of each song and then moving on to the next song.
After about 12 songs, a message about memory being low popped up but went away before I could read it all.
When I play music using WMP, I watch the program memory go from about 20Mb to 5Mb, then it goes back up when songs are changed.
Any ideas?
Me too
Sometimes, my Mogul starts acting crazy when I try to play music. I have the stock headphones, that came with my Mogul, plugged in. The playback starts jumping, skipping, etc.
This happens with CorePlayer and MediaPlayer
CorePlayer really goes bad and loses all of it's settings. The sound quality also switches to mono and causes OS instability.
I basically have to soft boot and sometimes hard boot.
Is this an a2dp issue? I have bluetooth disabled on my phone as I don't have any BT devices...
It also seems to depend on how the storage card was formatted and the music copied to it. I have 2 cards and either one decides to work differently each time I copy new music to it. I always fully format them to using fat and 32k.
I have searched this forum and found other people with similar issues on the original rom, but nothing recently.

Music Playback pause when headphones unplugged.

Planning to get the X1 soon but just wondering is there any music player for the X1 that would pause music when the headphones are unplugged? + also have sleep timer? Recommend some music aps please!
Thanks.
I would also like something that stops the music when the headset is unplugged.
Kinda embarrasing to sit in class and, by accident, unplugging the headset and spreading the tunes in the classroom.

This one turns the musicplayer on when headset is inserted.. Also the other way around. A very nice player.. And freeware...
s2p looks like a nice alternative, however I prefer the multimedia panel.
It shouldn't be so hard to make a script or something for it?
My thought is that you have a program, script or whatever that detects if the headphones are unplugged and then mutes the phone. Should also work with A2DP bluetooth headset.
It would be a big plus on xperia, since media is its weak spot right now. Imho.

[Q] My Legend headphone music bug

me and my friend have this bug, when we are using the stock headphones and listening to podcasts or sat nat, when we pull out the headphones jack it starts the the music player, does anybody else have this small niggle
Got the same Bug using my Sennheiser in-ear headphones. Everything is fine when I use stock headphones.
Even when I'm playing music with mort player, stock-HTC-music player starts and plays music in shuffle mode. Player switches songs every 2 seconds. That's really sh**.
I have found some people on german pocketpc.ch board who have same problems. but they have no idea...hope froyo will fix that bug.
Sent from my HTC Legend using XDA App
That happens to me with stock headphones. Sometimes when I unplug them one of the music/mp3 apps starts playing, skipping, etc. Usually is Google Listen which is the app I use most, but it also happened with the stock music app and Doubletwist.
I've found, could be pure coincidence, that it happens less if I unplug the headphones from within the home screen.
I think it's the difference between an angled and a straight 3,5mm Jack plug
I tested different headphones.
Stock phones: straight jack plug -> no problems
Sennheiser CX300: angled -> problems
Sony MDR-XB500 headphones: straight jack plug -> no problems
I had a lot of problems with my sennheiser - so I tested the Sony with straight plug - normally when I shake/move the legend the music starts skipping - but with Sony headphones it did not. I think there's a problem when you connect the headphones with legend - software try to check if you have normal headphones or headset connected. You can see 2 different symbols in status bar next to battery symbol.

Really strange phono audio problem

Hi guys, I have noticed that the DHD has some issues with audio playing. I have noticed that sometimes, when using the HTC Music app and switching sound enhancements the app sometimes crashes, or audio stops completely forcing me to restart the device.
Also yesterday I was out driving for about 4 hours. I had Car Tunes app playing music and CoPilot Live 8 running for my SatNav, with the DHD plugged into my car audio using phono. I noticed that after unplugging and plugging in the audio cable, the audio would become very erratic. Car Tunes would always play audio full volume, but CoPilot (voice) would vary from being almost inaudible to full volume. This just seemed to happen randomly and would correct itself every now and again, then 'break' then 'fix' over and over.
On my way home yesterday the audio in both CoPilot and Car Tunes stopped working while plugged into phono. Audio is perfect without phono, but when phono is plugged in no audio can be heard. This is pretty strange as system sounds screen lock, volume adjust tone, etc. all work fine with phono plugged in.
I have noticed the sound enhancements crash bug with my 2 previous DHD devices as well as this one. One thing I have done to this is S-Off and BUZZ oc-uv 1.28 kernel.
Recap:
Yesterday while plugging phono in and out over and over (using satnav and leaving/re-entering car) audio would randomly become high/low in CoPilot only. Testing other music apps (to find satnav audio problem) found that Music app crashes/kills all audio/causes reboot of device when activating/chaing sound enhancement.
And now...
Phono out
- all sound works
Phono in
- no music audio (any app)
- no video audio (any app)
- no apps sound (Angry Birds, NFS game, etc)
- CoPilot voice OK
- system sounds OK
- if audio is playing before phono, when phono plugged in audio can be heard for split second
Has anybody else had issues like these? It doesnt seem to be a broken phono jack as some audio does come through it. I'm not up to speed with Android enough to know what handles different types of audio, or what could be the issue.
Does nobody else have any issue like this?
Could anybody who is up to speed with Android advise if this would be a corrupted system file of some description?
Well I didn't read all, but I think something is wrong when CoPilot is running...
On another day I was driving and playing music at same time, using the headset out to pluggin to my car. I needed to use GPS and start CoPilot. Selected a route and when the voice needed to say something the music simply was muted (or paused) ...
I didn't try too much cause CoPilot start to freeze my device and eventually I had to reset the phone with much difficulty...
Probably CoPilot is the culprit of all this
I have to try another gps program. Going to test Ndrive.
I miss so much iGO (it's not on sale for general users) and TomTom (not at all)
OK so another update on this.
Today I was out on another 5 hour journey and had CoPilot operating perfectly all day through my car audio (using phono). After around 3.5hrs of driving I got held up in very heavy traffic and was pretty much stationery so I decided to put on Youtube to pass the time with a few quick videos and noticed no audio was coming from it either so I used the volume buttons to make sure audio was at full.......turns out it was all the way down to mute!! This shouldnt have been as I always have youtube (and media volume in general) up to full. So I turn it up and it worked perfectly again. So I thought I would try my luck and test music....it was also now working flawlessly!!
This is really peculiar as I know I checked the volume of Car Tunes, HTC Music and Rockplayer numerous times each, before and after device reboots the other day when it wasnt working. It seems that all of a sudden the audio is now working again through phono, without any device reboots or reconfiguration of any kind.
One thing though.........I'm now back to having the high music / low CoPilot voice issue again.
Perhaps this may be some sort of CoPilot issue affecting audio on Android ?
Would love to hear some feedback or suggestions on this one lol
