Anyone else get these syptoms?:
the volume control on the side, when I press the up or down once, it goes to the volume slider screen. One would expect that pressing the volume up, to move it up and then down, to move the volume down right?
Well on mine; if you press the volume button once, it goes to the volume screen ok, but if you press it again, it takes you back to the previous screen without altering the volume. The same happens for both up and down buttons.

As of today I have the exact same issue ! I installed sdkcerts.cab and FInixNOverBatteryIconsOnly.cab but uninstalled and the issue is still there
have you had any luck in finding out what's causing it, not overly enthusiatic about doing a hard reset which will probably be mentioned ?
I have the same issue, after installing some apps on my new Blackstone the Volume-settings feature was gone...
Any Ideas?
regards+thx
ps: please don't tell me to hard reset ;-)
I also have sdkcerts.cab and FInixNOverBatteryIconsOnly.cab installed (and many other applications), but my volume buttons work as expected. Maybe it has something to do with device lock?
Regards!

yes, just re-installed it.. same issue.. and then with setting "Volume Control = ON" it is working.
thank you
well spotted MHoefler !! all sorted now after enabling the volume in S2U, happy again
Yes, work with volume control "on" setting but, the volume control at call is locked!!
Any solution for up or down the volume at calls (with S2U2 installed)?
Regards.
You may try a hard reset.

Yes Black, I know that hardreset works but I wanna use S2U2.
It is clearly a bug in s2u2 and until it gets fixed there is not satisfactory solution unfortunately.
That seems. Just wait for new release.

I found the solution at the diamond-forum. You have to set "DonĀ“t use the keyboard hook" at the S2U2-Settings to "ON" and the S2U2-Volume-Control to "OFF" -then all works perfect!!!
Thanks nick007, I'll try it.
EDIT: Yes, it works! And the hardware buttons does not pick up/ignore the calls.
thank you, but for me that doesn't work correctly: With these settings i can control the system and ring volume during a call properly, but i can't change the actual 'in-call-volume' (which means the volume how loud i can hear the other party talk)... can anyone check this?
regards jan
Yes hausen, I can change "in-call-volume".
Before you uninstall S2U2...
I had this issue as well, and suspected it had something to do with having the volume buttons captured in Mortplayer and Coreplayer. Glad to see they weren't the issue so i can keep controlling them the way i like
But be careful when getting rid of S2U2!
I had S2U2 installed as well and uninstalled it without setting the volume control, and the volume buttons remained broken! I had to install S2U2 again, activate its volume control and THEN uninstall it to get volume control back! So if you want to uninstall, be sure to fix the volume controls beforehand.
Well, it seems like i really messed it up.... My volume buttons are still broken
I get the same symptoms as described earlier (volume buttons call up the volume screen, pressing a second time does not change volume but closes the volume screen instead), but in addition i noticed pressing the volume buttons while on the volume screen actually generates up arrow/down arrow keys! You can see this on many of the manilla screens where suddenly items become selected, but in other programs as well. The volume key press that calls up the volume screen doesn't seem to generate an arrow key, or it doesn't get sent to the current program.
So a couple of things i did that could have broken it:
I remapped the volume keys in Mortplayer.
I remapped the volume keys in Coreplayer.
I had S2U2 installed.
I tried to "fix" things with AEBplus.
The symptoms are always there, even after a soft reset without having run either Mortplayer or Coreplayer. I think the system's response to the volume key has changed, and the volume keys still send volume commands because explicitly remapping the keys to volume keys with AEBplus doesn't change anything. I even tried remapping another key to generate volume commands, but that just seems to keep calling up the volume screen, even if it's already active!
So i'll be struggling with this for a while it seems.... but if anyone has any suggestions or insights.....?
I have the same problem ... DOWN volume key is not working.
The annoying thing is that if I try to soft-reset the device it works but I get into bootloader. I have to press the UP volume key and keep it pressed until HTC logo appears, or else I still get into bootloader. So, I don't know what to say, but for me at leat, it might be a hardware problem.
Another thing is that when I go to hard-reset screen, none of the buttons work. I mean is I try to press volume UP or DOWN, nothing happens. Today I succeded in hard-reseting the device but the problem still persists.
I hate this thing and I hope that somehow this problem can be solved. Good luck to everyone.
PS: I will try to get official rom, radio, and SPL on my diamond, and maybe that will clear the problem because it is annoying at least.
Hope you guys have better luck then me.

I have got T-mobile wing for few weeks and now the volume feature keeps turning down on me and that little volume window pops up. It interferes with my call and will not let me text because of it. HELP PLEASE!!!!
Even I had done Hard Reset more than once but it comes back again and again after a day or two.
Can anybody suggest any solution other than just hard reset? As i have done hard reset various times....
have you flashed a custom rom if so try reflashing it that miht do the trick, if your using the rom that came with the phone it might be a issue with your phone might have to return it and get a new one
I am using the standard rom that came with my phone, no custom roms.
Your volume button is probably slightly stuck.
But I can use the volume button to try to turn up the volume .. sometime I win and sometimes that malicious thing wins turning down the volume..
Somebody knows about how to disable that little volume popup or HOW TO DEACTIVATE THE VOLUME SLIDER in T-Mobile wing?

No easy way I can think of other than butchering the volume control altogether (by killing the dll's responsible.)
Hi Guys,
this issue has been driving me slightly mad, tried searching with no luck, hopefully someone can help.
basically when i get an incoming call a) the flip phone over does not mute call, b) pressing the mute button on the incoming call screen does not work.
Now this used to work, and i have no idea what changed to cause it to stop.
i have checked the following :
regsitry - FaceDownMuteRing set to 1
HD Tweak tool - mute call is enabled
S2u2 - i have all phone settings off (callerID section set to off)
Now i do have AEbuttons installed which is probably the last thing i installed, on this i have mapped several buttons to the volume keys. Cant see this been an issue though.
Also, another issue which has developed is my backlight settings keep reverting back to timeout after 10 seconds everytime i reboot the device, could this be related.
any help will be much appriciated,
thanks

Had the same problem. And exactly the same possible culprit. Thus, I decided to try restoring the volume keys to their default mappings in AEB, and alas, now the muting works when I press the mute button or face the phone down.
On the other hand, if you really need to map the volume buttons, I also discovered that while the mute button or facing the phone down would not mute the phone while it is ringing, pressing the volume down button will (assuming that it is not mapped in AEB).
Hope that helped!

Hello.
I have got salt on my HTC Touch HD, so the volume up button is from time to time "pressing itself". When it's not, the button don't work if I try to press it, but then suddenly it starts to increase the volume, even though I don't press it.
Now I would like to just disable it, since the physical button don't work anyway, so I can't use it anyway, it just irritates me.
So, any suggestions?
Thanks for ANY help I can get...
Hi All
Anyone have a fix for getting the key mapped (in Nitrogen) HTC side volume toggle to work with the screen off..?
It works OK with the screen on, but going to blank screen while listening makes it cease to work. I am using v1.2 Alpha 4, all else seems to work well (apart from the shuffle-play repeating some tracks).
Oh, locking keys in the general settings produces a message "your device has no key lock support".
Any insight appeciated.....
Cheers

Really...
I have a stock 6.5 SEA ROM, with Alpha 4. I have mapped the volume (side) toggle thru the options and it works just fine, with the screen ON.
Turn the screen OFF and it does nothing?
So, does yours work OK with the screen OFF..?
If so, i need to perhaps grab another copy and reinstall, or.........
Cheers

they will work with the screen off if i press the sleep screen button on nitrogen (the power looking button).
if i press my hard power button to sleep then i dont think the keys work

Oh OK, thx for the info.
It seems mine doesn't work like yours for some reason, my mapped volume buttons do not work when activate the blank screen button on the Nitrogen Player...?
I think i will reinstall it and see if it changes.....
Later.....
Tried a reinstall but no change for my device, the volume toggle still does not work with the screen off??

HD2 is a masterpiece but as with all masterpieces, there are some setbacks if one of the things do not work.
I dropped my HD2 and the volume key (hard key on the left) stopped working. That means....
THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL, I CAN CHANGE THE IN-CALL VOLUME!!!
The system volume and ringtone has nothing to do with it. Even if the system volume is reduced, the in-call volume (voice of the other person) remains unchanged.
Is there any way i can have a soft button or soft key or any alternate to incall volume hard button?
I am in a serious mess, so help will be REALLLLLLLYYYYYY APPPRECIATED
You can download and install Audio Manager (Free at Market) . It has a feature that allows you to change in-call volume without the need to be in a real call, unfortunately though I don't think you can change it while in call
i don't have an answer for the original question, but i would just like to advise the OP that volume keys not working is really a messed up situation because you will also be UNABLE to access bootloader or the hard reset option.
jumping to bootloader and hard reset CAN be done by booting into WinMo. there is an icon in the start menu->settings called "Clear Data" that will do hard reset. and there is a small program available somewhere (don't remember the name) that will reboot into the bootloader.
the interesting question is, what do you do if your WinMo stops being able to boot the day you need the hard reset or bootloader?
The irony is my call volume is at maximum.
Is there any way I mean ANY WAY i can reduce the call volume without the volume rocker buttons?
I mean any registry tweaks or something?
I tried the HKCU --- control panel----sounds profiles---incall volume tweak but that did not work.
I am stuck...I really need help
