My Wallaby (T-Mobile, unbranded?) suddenly lost all my contacts, my installed software and everything. I then did a software reset, then a hardware reset.
Now it comes up with a Windows Mobile 2003 and the XDA-Developers wallpaper, and asks to run through the initial calibration etc.
Also it doesn't seem to accept my E-Plus Sim card. It doesn't search for my provider (Eplus).
Instead it suggests to run the T-Mobile autoconfiguration.
Could someone help me, please, to get it functioning again?
Thanks.

I managed to skip the autoconfiguration and it recognizes my Simcard again and also finds the provider.
I have a backup and a synchronization on my notebook (via Activesync). But the ID of my MDA is currently Pocket_PC. To sync it should have the same ID as my AS host has, doesn't it? How do I achieve this?
And another thing is strange: Isn't there an area of local storage (besides the inserted SD) that carries locally installed programs and other information. It seems that I don't see this file area at all. Could it be corrupted and if, is the a way to recreate/recover it?
Solved! Thanks and excuse the bother. Everything is restored again thanks to the backup I had I was able to restore everything to a very recent state. Only my incoming call history is missing a month.

I have this weird problem with the JJ. I have 2 SIM's with 2 different Operators. The JJ works just fine with one SIM .....
BUT, when I insert the other SIM, I can make calls normally, but I can receive only ONE call (i mean it, ONE), after that the damn thing won't receive calls anymore! (Like the phone is turned off or unreachable)
After trying to make calls for several times it does work, but again, one incoming call and that's it.
I tried that SIM in the 8800, it works just great.
Anybody has an idea on what's going on?
Thank you guys..
PS! I did post this in another topic, but needed some attnetion from you guys, so posted it in a new topic!
It is SIM free btw ..
Come on guys, 80 views and not a single reply.
I need to you that SIM in the JJ.
Could it work by a Radio upgrade or something?
OK, please tell us which version of ROM and radio stack you have.
Sure,
ROM 1.30.69
Radio 1.09.00
Thank you Richard.
the reason there are 80 reviews and no replies is cause nobody knows.
this is an anomoly, way out in left field, that I have never seen ever in all of the forums.
1. get a new sim card
2. get a new sim supplier
3. stop swapping them, and use the one that works
4. take the phone back under warranty and have them fix it.
Tried a colleagues sim card with the same operator and the same happened.. unfortunately there are no other sim suppliers.
the reason i want to use this sim in the jasjar is that my corporate email doesn't work with the other operator, there is some routing problem to our email server.
but why this sim doesn't work properly while the other does. its really confusing.

Throw this thought in.....
Could some settings relating to the "phone" usage be stored in the universal's registry that conflict with the other SIM card thats being used. Are both cards UMTS?
Matt
Here is a thought, Is the SIM with corporate e-mail the one that is not working? I have a T-mobile account with Blackberry BES and a Cingular account, two different SIM cards. Both work fine but the TMobile card will not work all the time with the blackberry connect software I have loaded up on my Exec. I called TMobile and they reset my "LOCAL Data" from thier switch and now it works fine.
Your carrier may have to reset some things for you to get your card working again. Just give them a ring and ask them to help you sort it out.

No they aren't ... I tried to hard reset the Universal with that SIM installed, nothing changed, still can't receive calls.
And once the problem happens, GPRS won't connect as well..

Already called them, they can do nothing about it, I traced our mail server using their GPRS, it stops some where is London!
I will try to down-grade the Jasjar with the old firmware. It might work :?:
Thanks buddies!
Can the Radio only be downgraded? Or I will have to downgrade the ROM as well?
You can downgrade the radio only, Find the radio you want on the ftp and then upgrade or downgrade just that
Here is what I tried so far..
1) Installing Qtek latest ROM, still didn't work.
2) Downgraded to Radio 1.06.00 and the problem is still there!!
Looks like I will be selling the JASJAR as soon as the P990i is here!
I suspect troubling SIM is UMTS (3G) enabled, AND has poor 3G coverage. JJ sees UMTS and spends its time trying to connect, but can't quite pull it off. I'm battling with this and trawling this board indicates that this is the issue; weak UMTS which you only experience witht he one SIM.
Ok since we have threads for everything else I decided to post this one about using your XDA Exec, Universal, Jasjar as a Blackberry device.
Please post everything you know about this topic under this thread so we don't have to search all over the forums for this info.
I currently have an O2 XDA Exec running a T-Mobile Rom, spec are as follows:
ROM Version: 1.20.32 WWE
ROM Date: 11/16/05
Radio Version: 1.06.00
Protocol Version: 42.40.P8
ExtROM version: 1.20.120 WWE
Blacberry Active Sync Desktop Version 2.1.0
Blackberry connect software 2.10
Mobile service Provider Cingular
SIM card is GSM GPRS 3G my blackberry service is BES Blackberry Enterprise server and we use Lotus Domino as the Exchange server or PUSH server.
This ROM is slow and not very stable and is not AKU2... What I am looking for is a New T-Mobile ROM that works with the Blackberry software or any other new rom (WWE) that will work with the BB software.
I have tried many different ROMs but the T-Mobile one works but as stated is weak and un stable.
ok i'm dumb. i have a blackberry, and an XDA. i hate the blackberry, but the BES services are fine. how can i get the software to run my XDA as a blackberry? the BES server is owned/operated by my company.
thanks!
Flash it with the T-Mobile ROM apparently!

i doubt it. blackberry only purports to offer the blackberry connect software for the XDA O2, not the UNIVERSAL. also it's only provided to carriers in the UK. hang|man is flying the US colors. also the software looks like it's provided as a layered application, not as a wholesale ROM.
our IT department only allows BES remote clients. if i could run the software on a PDA i would be happy. hopefully it's not the whole blackberry application stack, that's the part that's the most akward to work with. i would like it to utilize the poutlook email/calendar/contact applications.
nah tmob deffo has it on my old rom it had its own blackberry set up,110% sure

mm really? are any of the roms on the ftp the one with the software?
I use the BlackBerry connect with a Qtek9000 with the latest official Qtek ROM. The blackberryconnect software (and the also needed desktop software to activate) can be downloaded from Vodafone in germany:
http://support.vodafone.de/index_l3_2z.html
It works great with my KPN (netherlands) BB UMTS simcard, I am using it now for a few weeks without any problems (Using BES4 with Exchange)
So the version offered on the site does work with AKU2 and seems to be operator independent!
btw:I am using the version offered for the VPA compact IV
ooo! swell! i'l load it up tomorrow thanks! i hope it works
The ROM I posted in the original topic is a ship set from T Mobile, I have an O2 Exec and flshed it with the T Mobile rom and then used the Blackberry connect desktop sync and bb software for the MDA Vario, it works fine.
I use Cingular for my cell phone and blackberry. What I did was take my sim card out of the new 8720 BB and put it in my O2. Everything works fine with the software.
Only problem is the T Mobile ROM is not AKU2 and it is not the most stable ROM out there. The Radio is version 1.06 and seems to do okay in the US.
I did get Ivans new AKU3 beta 6 installed and the BB worked for about three emails then it just went into an eternal signal hunt and would not connect to the bb enterprize server again, I reflashed with the T-Mobile rom and I got everything back. There must be some CAB files in that ROM that allow the BB software to work better.

Hi, are you using the aku2 Rom?
Thanks
Yes,
At this moment I'am only using the blackberry Connect for receiving my e-mail.
My Calendar/ Contacts and Tasks are synced by using Exchange Server Sync.
So both technologies can coexist!

Many thanks RommelAcc. Would you be kind enought to detail the steps to connect your universal to your exchange server through the Blackbery client? I've read elsewhere that you have to install / configure the applications in a specific order to get it to work. Many thanks for your help.

Nothing special:
Install the BlackBerry Connect Desktop on a PC running ActiveSync (4.2 in my case) and Outlook. You need an online connection to you Exchange server (I don't know to configure with Notes).
Install de BlackBerry Connect software on your PDA. And follow the instructions on the screen.
Start the BB Connect Desktop and select 'connect' this will generate an encryption key that is transferred to the PocketPC.
(The BB Connect cannot be activated over the air, you will need a dektop with outlook connected online to your exchange server!)
many thanks, for your instructions. will give it a shot tomorrow.
Cheers.
i installed my blackberry sim in my universal and the black berry software software is working ok for my too. i can sync email and calendar from outlook/exchange. i use activesync for contacts. seems to work ok. although too things have been happening:
1) the PDA hangs constantly on a call to the blackberry software/mailbox after a power off. but during the time between a reset and the power off, it works ok. just can't ever turn it off
2) the blackberry software has to be restated manually after a reset.
is it my ROM, or what... don't know.
edit: ok still playing with it... i had it installed on the SD card when i had the hangs problems. i reinstalled it in main memory, and it seems to be ok. is this what everyone else does?
I have it installed in memory, not on SD...
I had lots of problems with software installed in SD.
ok here's a probably dumb question. how co i configure a new internet connection to use the SIM card? i had internet2.voicestream.com, somehow i think this changes to something else, but i don't know what it is. i tried blackberry.voicestream.com, and internet3.voicestream.com but they don't work either. do i need a seperate data plan on this SIM too? odd, how the blackberry browser worked on the BB7390 then.
edit: when i try to add a different network setting and it's connecting (then failing) i see a 'blackberry' connection trying to reconnect too, but there is no connection setting for it.
do other people have this problem? or am i missing a setting, or do i need another data plan?
edit2: weird my blackberry mailbox is inaccessible. it's on the today screen, but inbox doesn't see it.

When i've created another email dummy account the BB folders reappears for 3-4 hours and then dissappeared again. After i removed the dummy account the BB folders appeared again, but... again only foor 4-5 hours. Donnot how to deal with it.

i have missing BB folder too.
i setup a wap.voicestream.com connection, and all my net apss seem to work now. what is the right thing to do?
edit: one more weirdness. i got a phone call from t-mobile when they add my voice plan. after this the BB application complained that it was 'block - radio in use' until i reset it. (the restart on reset problem seems to be gone, maybe that was from installing on the SD card)
Hi,
Today I changed my mobile provider, got a new simcard with the same mobile number.
I putted it in my pda, unfortenately the trinity doesn't find any network, even if I do it manually.
If I put the simcard in another normal mobile phone, it works without any problems. Also when I hard reset the trinity, it works properly.
But of course I don't want to install all programs again so I restored my full backup, made by spb backup, again.
Still having the same problem.
Someone knows a solution for this?
It's weird..
I can receive/send SMS's, though I still have an icon with an exlamation mark (left of the sound icon) that says "No service".
I can't open my contacts, if I click on "Contacts" nothing happens.
I also can't call anyone since nothing happens when I click on the button to take up a call.
I'm using the last dopod gps rom version: 1.23.707.6
I think my register is messed up.. but I don't know how.
what happen if you use an other simcard, e.g. from your friend?
may be it's an old type.
2 years ago i get a new mobile device (samsung d500) and my old simcard was not compatible with this device. my samsung always said "No Service". so, i called my provider, explained the problem and i got a new simcard. it was an other (newer) type of sim
Dear xda-users.
Sadly I have lost my HD2 after a having it for a week. I have tried to locate it via Microsoft My Phone but it failed me.
My network operator has blocked the sim-card and the phone's IMEI number.
Does anyone know if it is possible to track it down even when the phone has ran out of power and does?
Anybody know any company who is able to track devices?
I hope you can help me.
Regards
Razir.
Well if the SIM card is blocked, there is no way how the device would let you know. It could use wifi, but even if wifi was on, HD2 wont connect unknown networks until told so.

No power, no way.
if its out of power u wont track it... ull have to wait till someone finds it... recharges it and connects to network.. thats only way how to track it (it broadcasts its imei over network).. even if they hard reset it which would kill myphone tracking
dont know about any companies but in slovakia it is prohobited by law to track down cell phones... before ppl were able to do that by calling police but not anymore

If you asked the network to block the IMEI you're pretty much screwed. If it wasn't blocked, someone could take the phone, change SIM, and hopefully turn it on without hard resetting, which you'd be able to see on myphone. But as the IMEI is blocked, even if he did that, the network wouldn't let it connect, so it wouldn't be able to tell it's position.
Except if the guy connects to a wifi. But he'd certainly think about hard resetting before that.
Thank you guys. Your answers have been useful.
As it might be a little late for you now I ran across this program called Ultimate Theft Alert. If you would have had this application installed you might have been able to locate your phone. Or at least tell you who has it.
http://www.wm6software.net/utilities/_ultimate_theft_alert_v35_.html
I'd like to blatantly push a free and VERY full featured program here called remote tracker. Lets you do all the phone tracking stuff, send it a text and it sends you back a link to google maps with lcation, location based on gps and/or cell towers, it can record a 5 minute gps track and send it to you, it has sim swap alert, wipe your simcard, wipe sd card, run scripts remotely, lock up your phone, throw up messages on screen, have the phone call you back, it is soft reset friendly (hard reset proof if you cook it in yourself),,,
http://remotetracker.sourceforge.net/
oh, and no i'm not the author, and nor do i get a kickback
oh, and it can respond by text, email or ftp (or all the above)
edit - sorry to the OP :-(
Hi guys,
I also lost my HTC HD2 but didn't speak to my network yet, so do I have any chance to find it?? any idea how?
Thanks

Hey I am in a similar situation. Can youplease confirm. If I DO Unblock the IMEI from my carrier, will the myphone service be able to locate the HD2 even if it does now have a new SIM card in it?
I lost the phone O/S and would do anything to get it back - I have it registered to the microsoft myphone service. Now that I am back home, I got a new sim card with the same number. Will the myphone service search via IMEI or does it need my active sim card in it?
Thanks
Myphone ONLY uses the sync relationship with the phone. The position is updated when the phone is synced. So the position you see is the one of the last sync, and if the new "owner" is clever enough to hard reset your phone, you'll never get position updates again.
happy days i though as everything seemed to be fine that is until i put in a sim card.
will not connect to network no matter what i try!
DO i have to request settings from the network or should the phone get them when i insert the sim automatically???
thanks

Good morning, johnnyboy4711.
You can try to get the settings going to /Settings/Connections/Connection Setup.
Choose your country and your operator and may be this will help you.
Greetings!
tried reset after your advice
still no radio signal after selecting network,
really confused!!!
Is it just sat at searching?
Interested in this as it relates to something I am looking into.
Can you get the device info as tit asked in your other thread.
Also, can you think/remember what exactly you did on the flash to change rom? And list it in 1.2.3 etc? This may help me figure out where something could haev gone, but I can't promise anything.
Hardware wise, have you dropped it/sat on it in your pocket etc? was all working successfully before hand?
Are you still able to get bluetooth and wifi? Do you know what your original rom was? Do you have a backup you can restore to test if it works again?
