Touch HD in LANDSCAPE mode! Is it possible? - Touch HD General

Hi,
I've seen in pocketnow review that it is not possible to switch to landscape mode in this device, You can only view pictures and webpages on that mode, But you can't switch the whole system as we get used in our previous devices.
What do you think?
If this is related to TouchFlo, I don't want it in landscape mode.
Thank you,

I have Gyrator 2 running on my HD which allows you to rotate any program automatically. It's very cool!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=427805

i do use Gyrator 2 to ...but it stays in the list of running progs of the task-manager,
is there a way to get it out of the list but still running?
(gsen does not show in the list but i have problems when watching a movie whit core-player)

wktask 1.20a is a great task manager that also allows you to rotate screen. It seems to be working fine for me.

Thank you so much guys,
This was the only thing between me and the HD ,

converting apps to VGA using res2exe

Ok, I have an obsession to get a VGA resolution web browser right now on my MDA PRO. The only thing I came up is using an MS developer tool called res2exe and using with existing Internet explorer or Opera. I have seen a post where the user has I guess recompiled the opera broweser with res2exe, however to do this you need Visual studio.net and the Windows mobile SDK.
would anyone be able to give me a hand on how to do this in plain english? Alternatively would anyone be able to post the recompiled exe ?
I dont think I can rest until I get a VGA browser !
Cmon guys this must be on the top of everyones list?
p.s the best thing MDA owners can do is flash with the IMATE ROM, the T Mobile ROM is the biggest pile of cack and the UI customisation is awful.

I hope so... I'm dying to get one working myself. They just recently released a new version of Minimo and it has full VGA support, but it's painfully slow on my Jasjar... looks beautiful, though.
I spent some time trying to get Pocket IE to run in VGA mode, but the problem is that it technically *does* run in VGA mode... the fonts and larger graphics are displayed in VGA. For some completely stupid reason though, it quadruples the size of smaller graphics... this prevents web sites from displaying properly and keeps us from getting as much as we want on the screen at once.
The Opera for smartphones that some people have gotten working doesn't interest me at all because it doesn't support the touchscreen. I'd rather browse in non-vga mode than loose the touchscreen.
Right now, most of the time I just deal with Pocket IE as is. If I need to do a lot of browsing I'll use the registry hack to enable VGA mode on my Jasjar and use Pocket IE that way... which does support VGA mode the way it should. Unfortunately it requires a soft reset to get into VGA mode and a soft reset to get out of it, plus there are problems with a lot of other programs when the device is in VGA mode, so it's not a pretty solution.

Couldn't agree more - I was stunned when browsing didn't feel any better than my XDA, and it took a bit of time to understand what was going on. I really don't understand why Opera is not doing an WM5 version. I've got my money ready to pay the SECOND someone comes up with a VGA browser for us.
which vga hack?
Brett, I agree with your comments. Can someone point me in the right direction of the jasjar VGA hack ? these seems to be a number of them.
I am sure this has been covered, but the annoying size of the friggin soft buttons bar/menu bar at the bottom of the screen is such a waste of our new found screen real estate. the bar could be smaller. or at least should be able to hide. ......this is not a fair comprmise between screen estate and menu navigation.

Any of the ones for WM2003 (SEVGA, OZVGA, or simply editing the registry) work to get the Jasjar into VGA mode. The problem is that as of right now, no one has figured how to get WM5 to display icons correctly in VGA mode. You lose all of the symbols at the top of the screen that show signal strength and connection status and such, and the icons displayed on the today screen and in Programs don't actually apply to the programs that they're associated with. Some programs (such as contacts and calculator) simply refuse to run in VGA mode, so it's not something that works as a full time solution. However, Pocket IE does run in VGA mode, and when it's in VGA mode it doesn't do any of the horrible image stretching that it does in 'normal' mode. That's why I go back and forth ocassionally. There's another thread here that was started by Rilot that talks about this a bit more.

I would love anyone who could figure out how to shrink those buttons... that's something that's also been bothering me.
Brett
WisbarAdvanceDesktop kills the buttons.
Thanks for the Rilot link - I'll track it down now. I tried ozVGA and my screen wouldn't respond to any taps.

Does is provide some other way to access those functions? The messaging app, for example, needs those buttons... I was hoping for something that could just shrink them

I've used ozVGA on my Jasjar and had no problems with screen taps... there may have been something else going on with your machine.

And there was me content with going into the IE menu and setting text to smallest

Setting GSen to exclude rotating today screen

Sorry for the load of newbie questions. Could not find an answer to this on google. Does anyone know to do this?
I found GSen to react buggy on my HD, sometimes would work, sometimes not. Recommend you to try the free Gyrator, where exclusion is very easy:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=427805
Start - Programs - Gsen CFG
Make sure the file has a line like this:
#window(Manila)
and save the file. Other exclusions you may want are
#window(TEETER)
#window(opera)
#window(htcalbum)
#window(cprog.exe)
#window(youtube)
Gsen has been working fine for me.
#window(cprog.exe)

That's touchflo3d though isnt it? I want to exclude the windows mobile today screen. I disabled touchflo3d as it is limited in what it can do.
Any thoughts?
I know this is borderline bumping ;-) but I just wanted to say thanks for the tip on
#window(youtube)
That's an important one because if not, any movement (at least on my HD) will attempt to turn the video around and it gets lost in the process. I then end up with a video the size of my thumbnail.
Gyrator did not work on my HD. After installation, it just gave me an error. So, I use gsen and so far no problems (other than the youtube issue).
Being ex-UIQ3 and new to WinMob apologies if this is dumb. Have loaded GSEN which seesm to work fine except on the TouchFlo screens. Settings I need to alter perhaps?
does anyone have the GSEN cab file they can post here? ive been looking for 2 days and cant find it?????
many thanks
heres GSEN & Gyrator if anybody wants them

Incorrect orientation in HTC Camera

I've tried it in many recent roms. The HTC G-sensor always gives incorrect orientation information for photos taken. Are there any solutions for that?
Thanks.

strange most roms with new manila have this issue fixed - try the attached cab - it fixed the issue on older roms, I dont know about newer though!!
searched through 5DVD discs for this cab, hope it works!!
Thanks for your effort... but it still not working.
I took a few landscape photo but it all displayed as portrait.
which rom do you currently have? try searching for the problem in the roms thread!
I am using the EnergyROM.. It sometimes works .. but most of the time not working in landscape mode.

If it sometimes works then maybe it has something to do with background programs runing-- do you have any screen rotation programs running in background?
try to shut down all programs with tast manager- and then take a picture------ or try to take a picture after you did a hard reset or installed a new rom!!u

force landscape?

apologies if this was discussed in another thread. and if yes appreciate if the thread can be pointed out.
my question: is there an program to "force" an application to stick to landscape mode? some of the apps we install in the ameo only work by switching to portrait mode. with that, is there an app to literally force the program to instead work in landscape?
cheers

Screen Rotation

Hello all. I have always wondered why i was not able to rotate the screeen more for apps other than opera. Why did i need to slide open the keyboard to get landscape mode? Well in searching i found this app in T-mobile touch pro 2 forum. the discovery was made by McBrian. Unfortunately i am not too sure who wrote the app. For this i apologize. I have used xda extensively and thought that this would be a good little app to post...to give back to the community. so here it is....Once u install the the cab, go to Programs and start the application and change the default settings to suit ur preference. I take no responsibilty for what happens to ur phone
there are several apps that do that, and can be found here on xda with some searching. Thanks for the link
Turns out ChangeScreen is the perferred program...
I'm wondering...if I don't like it, can I just remove the program?
Thanks,

If you want to uninstall it, all you have to do is go to Start>Settings>System>Remove Programs and select Changescreen before pressing "Remove".
Dave your the freakin man!!!
I swear your everywhere!!!
Anyway, I just downloaded the program and I was having a little trouble with excluding and including stuff...
I have no idea what's going on, but I think I got it to work. It's pretty slow though...
Can you post what you have on each tab checked and unchecked. I promise this will be the last you hear from me!!!
Thanks again,
LOL don't worry about it, I'm happy to help
On the 1st tab I have Enabled, Run on Startup, and the first two directions in the next row checked. On the second tab, I deleted "manila" from the list and nothing is checked. On the third tab, nothing is checked.
As for the slowness, however, there's no way I know to speed it up. It's a shame, as it does take quite a while to rotate.
Ahh...that's the problem...
I remember reading something you wrote that said exclude Manila...but I couldn't find it.
On the second tab (Exceptions), I have nothing there.
I simply have a bottom at the top that says "ADD". If I click add, it brings a blank slate and I can type stuff on there...it's weird.
Thanks again,
so whats the difference between this cab, abd the g sensor cab that once installed allows all of the manila TF3D stuff to rotate using the phones g sensor, then any new app you add just use g sensor app to make them rotate, theres no lagg with either of these

g config works with any pro 2 you jus st launch it then launch the app you want to rotate then insert the stylus and it adds that app to the ratation settings,
as for the g sensor cab im not ure give it a try, if it works then calender etc and everything else on TF3d should rotate without having to open the keyboard , if it doesnot work just remove the cab file

Does anyone else have any insight to these programs or even change screen?
I'm not too savy with HTC's...
Thanks,
from what i understand, and correct me if im wrong, but these programs will make ur battery drain significantly...the reason being is bc it "pools" the accelerometer alot more often than normal...again, correct me if im wrong but i believe this is true
