Hello all. I have always wondered why i was not able to rotate the screeen more for apps other than opera. Why did i need to slide open the keyboard to get landscape mode? Well in searching i found this app in T-mobile touch pro 2 forum. the discovery was made by McBrian. Unfortunately i am not too sure who wrote the app. For this i apologize. I have used xda extensively and thought that this would be a good little app to post...to give back to the community. so here it is....Once u install the the cab, go to Programs and start the application and change the default settings to suit ur preference. I take no responsibilty for what happens to ur phone
there are several apps that do that, and can be found here on xda with some searching. Thanks for the link
Turns out ChangeScreen is the perferred program...
I'm wondering...if I don't like it, can I just remove the program?
Thanks,

If you want to uninstall it, all you have to do is go to Start>Settings>System>Remove Programs and select Changescreen before pressing "Remove".
Dave your the freakin man!!!
I swear your everywhere!!!
Anyway, I just downloaded the program and I was having a little trouble with excluding and including stuff...
I have no idea what's going on, but I think I got it to work. It's pretty slow though...
Can you post what you have on each tab checked and unchecked. I promise this will be the last you hear from me!!!
Thanks again,
LOL don't worry about it, I'm happy to help
On the 1st tab I have Enabled, Run on Startup, and the first two directions in the next row checked. On the second tab, I deleted "manila" from the list and nothing is checked. On the third tab, nothing is checked.
As for the slowness, however, there's no way I know to speed it up. It's a shame, as it does take quite a while to rotate.
Ahh...that's the problem...
I remember reading something you wrote that said exclude Manila...but I couldn't find it.
On the second tab (Exceptions), I have nothing there.
I simply have a bottom at the top that says "ADD". If I click add, it brings a blank slate and I can type stuff on there...it's weird.
Thanks again,
so whats the difference between this cab, abd the g sensor cab that once installed allows all of the manila TF3D stuff to rotate using the phones g sensor, then any new app you add just use g sensor app to make them rotate, theres no lagg with either of these

g config works with any pro 2 you jus st launch it then launch the app you want to rotate then insert the stylus and it adds that app to the ratation settings,
as for the g sensor cab im not ure give it a try, if it works then calender etc and everything else on TF3d should rotate without having to open the keyboard , if it doesnot work just remove the cab file

I'm not too savy with HTC's...
Thanks,
from what i understand, and correct me if im wrong, but these programs will make ur battery drain significantly...the reason being is bc it "pools" the accelerometer alot more often than normal...again, correct me if im wrong but i believe this is true

Hi all. I'm the proud owner of a new XV6800 and I'm wondering, is there any way to make it wake from sleep when I slide out they keyboard?
I have been panning through all of my menus and cannot find a option to wake upon slideout of keyboard. It may not be possible...
Unless someone else knows of a possible registry edit or .cab file...
I haven't seen anything either, my wing did this and I miss the feature.
If you are using Pocket Toolman, which you REALLY should be, under OS tweaks, there is an option to click on, "wakeup when sliding keyboard".
Pocket Toolman is awesome!! And free.

Thanks Benderhoggs! I was looking for something like that. Can't wait to try it!
Sure. You'll love it. One of the best programs I've gotten for my phone so far.

Looks like a great tool, but unless I'm missing something, the "Wakeup when sliding keyboard" feature does not appear to work on my Titan. Any Titan users able to get it to work?
yeah the wake on keyboard feature doesn't seem to be working for my titan...darn
It doesn't work for me either, so I uninstalled it, since other parts weren't either. Looks like a neat tool though.
Crappy Program
I tried this program. It didn't do what it said it would do and also when uninstalled left all the settings that it changed in place. Now I have to do a hard reset. Worthless.

The program was designed to make it easy to change certain registry settings. Perhaps you should've defaulted everything before uninstalling it.
Anyone know another way? This is a feature I'd really like to have

Has anyone discussed this with the developer? It seems like such a waste to do all that work on this app for it not to work properly. There is no place to post comments on the blog, and I noticed the app was just updated yesterday.
I'm leery of installing this with such drastic issues looming. I will e-mail him with a link to this post. His e-mail is [email protected] which is in Canada.

Hi xfortrenox,
Can you give more information on what problems you were having with PT2? What device are you using? You're more than welcomed to email me at [email protected].
I am not able to get the Wake on Slide Function to work on my Verizon xv6800.
Also, since I have installed Toolman, It replaced the CONTACT soft button with Toolman.
I tried to RESTORE the right soft button, but now I have a bunch of weird characters in its place.
Do I need to fix something in the registry to get back CONTACTS for my right soft button?
Thanks!
BTW, LOVE the program so far
..............
I think that a wake on slide open for the titan would be a bad idea. The wake on slide open worked well on the htc apache,, although if you think about how the sliding mechanisms work the apache snapped closed, so it woudl not open easily, the titan on the other hand is spring loaded, so any various movements could trip the device to turn on(if the slide open powerup was enabled). I had wanted this feature at first, but soon realized how randomly the phone would turn on if it was shook or moved a certain way, allowing the phone to slide open the quarter inch required to activate the switch. just some random thoughts about this topic, thanks.
I will have to respectfully and vigorously disagree. First off the power button couldn't really be in a worse place - the bottom of landscape mode... holding it in landscape means none of your fingers could be farther away from the key.
I am still holding out hope to be able to power this thing on with a slide.

would be glad to test a new version out if u get this fixed toolman... I'm on verizon using xv6800 with Verizon signed OEM ROM.
I'd be glad to beta a version that has wake on slide as well, using a sprint mogul with 2.17 ROM.
Sorry for the load of newbie questions. Could not find an answer to this on google. Does anyone know to do this?
I found GSen to react buggy on my HD, sometimes would work, sometimes not. Recommend you to try the free Gyrator, where exclusion is very easy:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=427805
Start - Programs - Gsen CFG
Make sure the file has a line like this:
#window(Manila)
and save the file. Other exclusions you may want are
#window(TEETER)
#window(opera)
#window(htcalbum)
#window(cprog.exe)
#window(youtube)
Gsen has been working fine for me.

That's touchflo3d though isnt it? I want to exclude the windows mobile today screen. I disabled touchflo3d as it is limited in what it can do.
Any thoughts?
I know this is borderline bumping ;-) but I just wanted to say thanks for the tip on
#window(youtube)
That's an important one because if not, any movement (at least on my HD) will attempt to turn the video around and it gets lost in the process. I then end up with a video the size of my thumbnail.
Gyrator did not work on my HD. After installation, it just gave me an error. So, I use gsen and so far no problems (other than the youtube issue).
Being ex-UIQ3 and new to WinMob apologies if this is dumb. Have loaded GSEN which seesm to work fine except on the TouchFlo screens. Settings I need to alter perhaps?
does anyone have the GSEN cab file they can post here? ive been looking for 2 days and cant find it?????
many thanks
heres GSEN & Gyrator if anybody wants them
In the original ROM which came with my phone,
In the third tab of the "HTC Home" (the app launcher)
there was a button which would rotate the screen round.
Was this a link to a little .exe somewhere within the
device, or was it simply a little script?
If it was a program:
A) where on the device is it?
B) is it possible for someone to upload it?
i would look for it myself, but Im currently running
the Touch of HD rom.
Thanks to anyone who can help
Cris

You're welcome.. Yeah I googled it yesterday and couldn't find it anymore. So I just used the one I downloaded for my kitchen. You're saying your original ROM had this program in the launcher? You must have had Onyx (my cooked ROM) on it then.

That makes no sense? I bought the ELF for my dad right after launch, and it came with a rotation app out of the box. As far as I know, all of the Elf's did... no?
yeah they do have it in the original WM 6.0 rom.
It was one of the links already chosen in the app launcher
which is the third tab of the "HTC Home"
It would rotate your screen 90 degrees clockwise
and the second time you press it, it would return it to normal
It was quite a good rotation app
But the one posted on this thread works, so im not complaining
but after upgrading to the KWBR Touch of HD ROM, I no longer
had the HTC Home, because it has touchflow 2D instead
can some one help me where shall i put the exe file........
a good place to put it is:
/Windows/Start Menu/Programs/"exefile"

Yeah, but wheres the fun in that?
thats what i like about windows
If there was nothing wrong with it, or simple, it would be boring ^_^
You can also go to the Screen Settings and select landscape/portrait from there. If the tab is not present there is a registry setting to enable it.
Also you can write a Mortscript to do this as well.
is this the same as the one you posted?
i have look for this program long time
very thank you
Dear developers,
I have a big issue with Rhodium, apparently without solution (as I see in the forum many others have it): if I use any G-Sensor application to rotate the screen to landscape based on the internal G-Sensor, some windows/applications still show in portrait. One example is the Dialer, that cannot be "kept" into landscape just by keeping the phone in lanscape position.
I've searched the registry and found an interesting key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Keypad\IsSlideOut - value is 1 if the phisical keyboard is open and this triggers the entire Windows and Manila to rotate "for good" in landscape - no more annoying bugs and unattended rotations back to portrait.
If i rotate the phone to landscape and set the key value to 1 in registry WITHOUT sliding out the keyboard, the phone STAYS in landscape, even if it is rotated back to portrait, no matter what application is opened (in fact the phone thinks the keyboard is out and disables the G-sensor).
So, my request is for an app (exe to be assigned to long press send key) that triggers first a rotation to landscape and then changes the key in registry to 1, if the phone is in portrait; if the phone is in landscape, the app should modify the key to 0 and rotate the screen in portrait.
Is it possible to do it? How difficult it would be?
Sorry for the long post and the "non-technical" language.
Many thanks,
Radu
Solution is simple - MortScript
Dear all,
A friend has gave me the simplest possible solution: Mort Script.
For the ones that need it, here it is:
screenrotation = RegRead("HKLM", "\System\GDI\Rotation", "Angle")
if (screenrotation = 0)
Rotate (270)
RegWriteDWord("HKLM", "System\CurrentControlSet\Keypad", "IsSlideOut", 1 )
elseif (screenrotation = 270)
Rotate (0)
RegWriteDWord("HKLM", "System\CurrentControlSet\Keypad", "IsSlideOut", 0 )
else
Message ("Not a standard rotation!")
endif
Be sure to have the following value in registry before using the script:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\HTCSensor\GSensor]
"KBDSlideOut_To_Stop_GSensor"=dword:00000001
Dear moderators, please close this thread, as I don't know how to do it.
Regards,
Radu

Hi,
Thanks for info, but I have done it since the beginning. It's working very well, but there are some bugs, like the dialer program: if in landscape I press the Send key, I have a 1 sec delay before the screen autorotates to portrait and than the dialer shows in portrait.
The only solution suitable for my needs seems so far the MortScript.

It's totally awesome.
Great hack man.
Finally my problem was solved.
It's the only perfect and complete solution 4 rotating TP2 screen.
I had a post asking 4 solution like that but no one answered me.
Moderators should make it STICKY and should be added to the TP2 hack section
Thanks.
Glad I could help

I'm glad I could help. If you use autolock (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505032) you can use the attached script (original one updated) to disable the autolock while in landscape. I use autolock for suspend, incall and outcall when connected - if you use other features you have to modify the keys accordingly.

I have a question: I have a Tilt 2 and I'm looking to just beable to rotate any screen as I please...how in the world do I play/edit with Mort Script?
I'm very new to this phone and HTC in general.
Also...when I install a .CAB file. I've downloaded a few and stored them on my Memory (Scan Disc) to help conserve memory on my phone. Once it's saved on my memory disc I then loaded the program and POOF...it's done.
Is that the right way to install a .CAB file? I'm kind of lost and I hope I didn't mess anything up.
Thanks,

Everything about MortScript can be found here: http://www.sto-helit.de/index.php?module=page&entry=ms_overview&action=view
The "Scripts" are text files (can be edited with any text editor on PC or phone) saved with .mscr extension. Install the CAB from the link above, put the script on device and double click on it in a file explorer.

It's recommended to keep the .CABs on SD card, in case you hard reset the device they are handy to be reinstalled. I personaly prefer to install the programs in main memory instead of SD card.

I believe there is a .CAB file somewhere on this website to make phone be able to switch between landscape and port...regardless of what menu or screen your looking at.

Hi,
Memory usage is affected by running programs not neccessary by installed programs - if you don't use an application and that application doesn't have any process resident in memory, it doesn't affect the amount of free RAM.
Try this to minimaze RAM usage: http://translate.googleusercontent....le.com&usg=ALkJrhgxbK5uth-OsSBjHj7d-TAJphQmUg

My Tilt2 used to run +75%. From what I read, some programs take up memory even after being closed out. I did some more searching and installed the Dynamic Resource Proxy and No Push Internet cabs from here. Now I run in the 50-60% range.

Guys, I've installed Opera mobile 10 beta 3 on my HD2 from Mike 2037 thread (wont let me post the url yet )
But no matter what I try, I can not get it to autorotate. Anyone managed to do this? If you have, I would be most grateful if you could explain how to do this
Many thanks for any help given
1. install BSB 1.6
2. go to Menu -> Rotation
3. go to Options -> Add application
4. On dialog click OK
5. Go to home or wherever your Opera shortcut is and start it.
6. Shake your HD2 until it says that the app was added.
7. Enjoy.
It worked nicely for me... And still works.
Cheers.
I've just installed Opera Mobile Beta 3 and rotation is working fine for me. It should't need aditional software to make it rotate to landscape.
Hi Guys, thanks for your replies
@ikovac - I've done as you said and got the messagebox telling me the Apped had been added to the rotation but it still wont enter landscape mode when I rotate the phone. All other apps etc do just not Opera 10 beta 3.
It is really annoying me now as I really like the new opera browser
Hi Guys, just letting you know that it is now sorted. What I didn;t realise was that I would have to go back into BSB Tweaks and select Opera 10
Thanks for you help guys - I think version 10 of Opera is the dogs dangly bits
i think ill install opera 10 and try the bsb tweak. not having a landscape mode was the only thing putting me off. ill just ask a quick question here though instead of starting a new thread.....when i install opera 10, do i need to save it to the device itself or can i install it to my memory card. cheers....

Do you think Opera 10 is cool? My mate has got an iPhone and he's says (and I agree) that the HD2 browser is better
I'm glad it worked.
BTW I didn't have to select it in the bsb rotate menu. It worked straight after it had been added by shaking. I believe bsb selections are for removing apps only.
edit: @greenboy opera 10 beta 3 on hd2 is way better than iphone browser to me
Does the flash work properly with beta 3 on the HD2? Also, if you install it on the HD2, will it copy over the opera 9.7 that's built into the HD2..?

Na it dont, you end up with both versions, although you can set it as the default browser.
its bsb tweaks thats the problem. it still has a bug in that it doesn't save properly if you soft reset when its prompts you. the solution to it is that when it asks you to soft reset say no and then when the application is closed perform a soft reset. either off and back on or the reset button or xda shutdown etc. should be fine that way.
