Opera 9.5 build 2745 - Advantage X7500, MDA Ameo General

Looks like it was released recently.

Just installed it so can't say much about it, but the screen rotation issue still exists, and the download manager doesn't seem to be accessible (?!).

I've tried all the opera builds on my x7510 and I think that the one that works better is build 1957 from Omnia (no keyboard or screen rotation issues).
I think that the opera builds released into Omnia ROMs fits better on Athena devices than the versions released into HTC ROMs (Diammond or Touch HD).
Yesterday I've extracted a new version (or at least, not released on this forum) of opera from the latest Omnia oficial ROM. Its build number is 2520 and seems to work fine on my x7510.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH !!!!!
It does seem 2520 is faster than 1957.
The ADDRESS BAR is slightly OFF just like in 1957. Is yours the same too?
I still have Opera 1957 installed onto my Flash Disk. So basically I have both Opera 1957 and 2520 working well on my device and both installed to my Flash Disk. You can only launch one Opera application at a time though.

Those that have tried 2520, please post your experiences.
xtep, do you have a full installer that you can post on a new thread?

fastest ever here on my 7500. no flsh lite 3.1 working, though. that is not unusual, though, either...
j

FlashLite 3.1 works only on youtube. It works for me. You must have done something wrong.

tjat is always nice to hear but you were right, youtube works. I didn't know they limited a player software to a site. with opera 1938 (or 1937, tried so many...) I could also play youpo**n, btw

Does 1938 have the keyboard bug?

Unfortunately yes. That's why I don't use it, could live with the screen switching to portrait when loosing focus, but the keyboard problem is annoying.

No, 1957 and 2520 does not have the keyboard bug. They both work well with FlashLite 3.1.

removed transparent overview window
black diamond skin
set width mx to 240/less jumpy when browse in mx mobil view
ie7 regedit hack
[Performance]
Max Connections Server=6
Max Connections Total=6
Network Buffer Size=2 (for those with more ram available, you may when to increase this)
edit: didnt realize that the athena has a 480 max width. you guys may want to change the ssr max width in the opera.ini file to 480 and network buffer size to 6 or 8 for better performance.

Thanks for your upgrade. It's working well on my sd card for Vega O2 Exec by just upgrading from version 1957 through copy on SD Card\Program files\Opera9\
High appreciated!

I installed 2520 a few days ago and its definitely my new favorite. No keyboard or rotation issues. I don't like the zoom control in the top right, I wish it was at the bottom left like other versions - it covers scroll bars.

Best VGA Browser

I am soon to get a XDA Exec, and I was wondering what the best VGA web browser for the Universal is. I dont want to have to make my whole system VGA, so it would be better if the browser had VGA options as default. Is there any way to use PIE in VGA without changing the whole system? Which is best out of minimo, opera and netfront?
Thanks
The best one out of these three is FtxPbrowser . (with the mui hack)
You may want to consider....
You may also want to look at Opera. The version for WM5 is still in beta though, but you can download and try it out. I'm guessing that the final browser will be released within the next month or so. The beta is free to try, but you'll have to pay for the final version. Great browser though.
Justin
Go with Opera. I've tried the three you mentioned, and while they're all quite ok, I found minimo to be painfully slow, and NetFront to often have problems displaying pages correctly. Opera installed and worked flawlessly right from the start.
yes Opera is best around at the moment:
http://www.opera.com/products/mobile/products/winmobileppc/index.dml
I had problems with font size using opera... some fonts are very big at some www places.. using netfront it seems ok. opera may be more compatible with JavaScripts, etc.. but I found Netfront more optimized to the mobile environment: virtual canvas size, fast rendering mode, etc.. it loads faster..
Thanks alot for the help. Does Opera need a VGA patch to run in VGA, or does it do it by default?
Thanks
Default.
On the OPERA site, it states the beta is going to end June 1st 2006. Does that mean after that date, the application will stop working unless we buy it from them?

Erm...beta 2 has been out for about two months now, and they've removed the limited duration thing.
I am testing out the PIEPlus V2.0 Beta1 on my Universal. Not bad with performance. It allows 2 views (normal vs column) and tab browsing, pretty convienent. No font issue like Opera. Worth a try...

I today downloaded their latest trial version. Maybe I am doing something wrong but it still does not support flash and java and has the usual limitations of the previous trial versions. Though the final commercial version will support all this.
There is also a news item on their site that the commercial version will be available by end of this month for US $ 29.80

I think we have not answered the original question yet (as posted in the very beginning of this subject).
Which web browser that will work in high resolution (VGA) even though the WM5 is running in normal QVGA mode?
Does either NetFront or Opera actually display the browser in VGA mode even the WM5 running in QVGA mode or it only works in VGA mode if the WM5 running in VGA mode.
I myself personally prefer to run my Uni in normal QVGA mode, but for certain application, I would love VGA. PocketXPDF for example, is excelent! Its actually display the PDF file in high VGA resolution even though the WM5 is running QVGA. Other excellent examples are: Logmein.com that can display full 640 x 480 remote desktop smoothly though the WM5 is running QVGA, and lastly, Google Map, also does the same thing.
So, back to the original question, which web browser that can do that?

Opera Mobile 9.0.33 QVGA from SD card

Here is a lil something that i created today
It is the beta version of Opera 9 which is configured mostly to run from the SD card. The SD card should be named "Storage Card" in order to work correctly, because the cab paths are hardcoded to use that name. I have UPX-ed Opera9.exe from 6 to 2 MB so it take less space.

thank you xplode
have you managed to change your broken ba screen?
I have a good screen with a bad ribbon cable...if you have the tecnology to put your ridbow cable in my screen.. I offer it to you Xplod
I had the same problem, i have perfectly working screen with some cracked tracks on the cable. I ordered new screen and now have it, and it works

cant fill all the letters... dunno why...
2° i have opera 8.5 till now and sometimes when opening a link it freeze for some seconds.... why that?
tnx really much

Beta is free always

WM Browsers for the Shift???

What is the best browser for SnapView/WM on the Shift. Explorer is ok but there are a lot better mobile browsers out there. Has anyone been able to try the new Skyfire browser on the Shift? I have it on my treo 750 and love it. Just looking for something better than explorer. Any links or cab files would be appreciated.
I use Opera.
Wait for Skyfire... I think it is going to blow them all away from what I have seen since it went beta.
opera mini 4.1 beta....
opera mobile 9.5 is best even though it's beta
I have heard great things about opera mini 4 but I have not tried it yet. I have tried older versions of opera and the one that came with the HTC Advantage but have not been overly impressed with those. Except for the opera on the X7501 I have only tried these on my Treo (Opera and Skyfire)
remove Opera 9.5
Hi,
I have installed Opera 9.5 and it needs lots of space and crashes because it needs too much while working.
Now it seems to have installed files all over the place. Probably it will not delete all the files when I remove it.
Is there any method to find all the files it has installed to delete them manually?
It needs much too much space.
Space: In the windows folder there is a bis file called "provision.zip". Can I delete it? Or is it needed?
Are there any other big files which can be deleted?
How big is Skyfire, can it be used in Europe (Germany)?
Thanks!

New Opera Mobile 9.5 Beta and T9 Keyboard

My addition to this community.
Opera Mobile 9.5 Beta just released today. Almost like a real browser, only thing missing is Flash still. This is not the Opera mini.
http://www.mediafire.com/?teydzy2ztjj
HTC Atom Phonepad with T9, a virtual on screen keyboard that looks like a phone pad with T9. You can type with your finger with the bigger buttons. Very very nice. I forget what these are called but if someone can reply with HTC Atom Phonepad with T9 and the name for these virtual keyboards so this can be found in searches.
http://www.mediafire.com/?pmxougeonmm
Let me know what you think!
anyone try this out on their wing yet? it is a beta..
Opera Mobile
9.5's been out for a while. It works well on the wing, blows PIE away on large pages, almost as fast as mini. But it installs to your \Windows folder and will not work off the storage card. It doesn't allow predictive text, it takes up about 6Mb of device memory, and 9Mb of ram. It's a good browser if you can spare the system resources.
Thanks for the phone pad, I'm trying it now.
I just wanted to give back to the community.
This is a new beta, beta 1 or something like that released today.
maybe this new beta of opera mobile is different, but i was able to install it to my sd card and it only took an extra 2mb from my storage.
Newer 9.51
This is 9.51b1 I had 9.5b1004. I'll load it up and test it out. Thanks for the update!
Do you know how we can set it up so that the Cache files etc are all on the SD Card too?
I installed it (I have t-mobile rom) on my sd card, and on the phone... the only issue I've run into so far is out of memory errors.
I've run the 6mb mem pool size mod and font/file cache mods on my phone and have resco mod and batterystatus mod w/vista theme.
any ideas?

I don't know if this is ActiveX or a windows media plugin, but if you have a newer HTC device with Opera preinstalled (such as touch pro) and visit pages with a WMP embedded in them, it WORKS! However the one thing I can't figure out is how they did it because a stock Opera mobile beta does not work with WMP embedded at all on my Treo 700wx

ftp://ftp.opera.com/pub/opera/winmobile/970b1/
I'm Downloading and Installing it now.....Will update you all soon.
______________
I installed it on my QVGA HTC Touch WM 6.1 (Build 21014) on the SD Card and
It Loads without any lag, Fairly fast. Renders and loads pages Pretty well too. No Major issues so far. Graphics and UI look pretty good. I still have to load the Widget Manager and try it out, never was a big fan of these. I will attempt to post some screen shots, but I am at work and may not be able to.
______________
KNOWN BETA ISSUES:
Browser
Opera Turbo in Opera Mobile is still a preview-feature;
Downloads don't work while Opera Turbo is enabled.
Some settings (such as toggle on/off images) do not apply when Opera Turbo is enabled.
On older WM 5.0 Devices with 480x800 resolution, switching between portrait and landscape may cause display errors. This is due to lack of support for this resolution in early versions of Microsoft's driver.
Some input method editors are known not to work well with Opera because they do not comply with Microsoft's SIP and/or IME standard. When such an editor is detected by Opera, Opera will use a known (default) input method instead. An exception is EzInput v1.5, where the phone keypad and compact QUERTY, ABC mode doesn't work, but the rest of the modes work fine. We recommend upgrading to EzInput v2.0 to avoid this.
Only support for FlashLite 3.x. No Flash plugin included.
Widget manager add-on
The Widget manager is an add-on to the browser, so the browser must be installed in order for the widget manager to work.
We recommend disabling Opera Turbo in the browser when using the widget manager.
Rotating widgets does not work properly. Portrait mode should be used when running widgets.
Widgets + Plugins (Flash & Gears) don't work.
Clicking internal links in a widget will launch the browser.
Twitter widget might have login problems on first run. If this happens, just close the Twitter widget (X) and open it again.
omg omg omg

ill post screensnhots
haha good thing i didn't go to sleep will try and put screen shots too.

qvga looks freaking weird and lags bad :S

Yeah I installed it a few minutes ago.
It's just a mess. I guess it isn't for QVGA? Anyone with a VGA device have it working right?
lags bad... :S
yea me too just installed it n it didn't even load.
Hopefully they fix this or it will be an extremely disappointing release
It's awesome on my ATT Fuze (VGA), no flash if people care, also the turbo mode seems to load mobile pages perhaps
Are you guys even using the right cab? I did a little research with the folders on the opera.com domain and got to this:
http://get.opera.com/pub/opera/winmobile/970b1/
Download the first cab.
I just tried it on my qvga device and its amazing. NO lag. It runs. Nothing seems messed up. Scrolling is EXTREMELY smooth, it's as smooth as the omnia versions but doesn't suffer with the auto-full screen bug and it doesnt lock up while loading as well.
Opera turbo works, though its disabled by default.
So far, i absolutely LOVE it!

I gotta say, its MUCH faster than opera 9.5 even with opera turbo disabled, thanks to the new rendering engine.
