Any way for WM6.1 messaging to auto resend SMS/MMS if the message is originally sent when there is no phone connection and it is later restored?
I used to have a Motorola phone that prompted something like "Data connection not available. Do you wish to resend when connection is restored?" This would resend it if there was a connection without any actions from me.
I travel in places with no connection (like in subway). With my Moto, i was able to write a text message, set it for auto send, and would find that it would send if/when i momentarily had a connection while moving. This freed me from having to monitor my "bars" for a connection to send text.
This is a good question, I'd like an answer as well. I'm going to ask to have it put in general "Questions & Answers" forum.
HTC Surround
same here... my surround doesnt do auto resend when connection is restored... my friends will just tell me that im not responding to their message to found out the the message is still stuck and i have to manually press resend for them to get it.

When I try to send a text message or try to get to my phone options such as call forwarding, I get this message, " The phone is not ready, Wait 15 seconds and try again." The phone worked at first, I was able to send one text message but now nothing. I had a software problem and had to hard reset it. I can make phone calls no problem though. When I go to settings>phone, it gives me the same message.
I have done most of the registry hacks and I am wondering coudl these have caused the problem. I have searched the cingular forum and found nothing yet. Basically it does not seem to be connect to the network for me to set things up but I can make calls. I can use media net as well to access the internet. Any suggestions? I am located in texas by Houston. Thanks
Hey guys I have a T-mobile HD2 with a 2.08 radio with the touch extreme rom. Just recently I started to have problems sending MMS messages. It will tell me that it was unable to send the message and tells me to check connection. So i go to connections and press and hole the T-Mobile connection until the connect option pops up. I press the connect button and try to send it. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt. It this the reason why people try diffrent radios or is there another solution. Any help woud be appreciated. Very frustrating.
I am having a problem now too. Had my HD2 for almost 4 months now and never had a problem until now.
I can't send or receive MMS messages. Text only works just fine but if I try to send or receive any type of audio, video, or picture message it simply gives me an "unable to send message" error notification.
I never had problems before. Tried going into settings to lower the file size limit, still doesn't work.
Help?
I'm not sure, but I think you have to add a special feature to your plan to send anything but text with t-mobile.
Is anyone else experiencing this? I'm on tmobile..stock jellybean and stock texting app.
sometimes the MMS will go right away..sometimes they will sit for days..and then i send (or recieve) one from someone and suddenly the floodgates open all my 'stuck' MMS messages go.
i dont know this is a defect..or maybe something quirky about tmobile's network..but it seems to happen about once a week the messages get backed up like this.
never had a problem with SMS..i dont think.
Not sure why but i've had that too. The other night sending to my friend on T-Mobile it wouldn't go for hours then i resent it some 9hrs later and it worked fine. I don't think it's a N4 problem per say as i've had that with my SGS2 also. Maybe it's a ROM thing or just carrier issue but wish it wouldn't be so!
I got this experience with MMS:
- when on WiFi than impossible to send;
- only when on Data transfer MMS is send.
Try to manually set the data and not wifi and try.
Good luck.
MMS only send on mobile data connection, thus has been standard behaviour on every Android phone I've owned
makes sense. i'm on/near wifi for most of the day every day so i guess its not going to send until i'm in my car driving somewhere and regular data kicks on
Shouldn't matter as the phone wont use WIFI to send MMS if the APN has "mms" designation it it. You can watch the signal bars and see he up/down arrow in the cellular signal bars vs wifi when trying to send. At least, that's what it does on my phone yet it still just doesn't send once in a while.

did an experiment today; sent 3 MMS (while i'm hooked to WIFI) and 2 of them went..made a phone call before the 3rd one sent..and it got stuck in 'sending' mode.
2 hours later still stuck in 'sending'. i sent a text to that number ...didn't help.
I then sent another MMS..and when i did, it triggered both the new one and the 'stuck' one to go through.
so there you have it..not conclusive but it seems like maybe when its switching between voice and data it can get stuck..and the stock MMS messenging app doesn't seem to be smart enough to resend automatically. it seems like you have to 'jiggle the handle' to get it to go by sending another MMS.
it also seems sending ANY mms (not even to the stuck #) will release all the hung MMS for everyone.
I've noticed that when I am on wifi I cannot send or receive MMS messages. I have to physically turn off wifi and wait for the messages to come in. Since this phone does not have t mobile wifi calling the stuff online I've been reading hasn't been very helpful. Just wondering how you guys on t-mobile deal with this.
I have the same issue. I have tried turning wifi off but if it was on when the message was first received then that message is lost forever. Fortunately there are only a handful of people that try to message me like that, but it's still annoying.
Hi All.
Have my MXP on Verizon. Love it. However, I'm currently having some issues - I can't get MMS when I'm on wifi - I get notifications for the messages, and then get "failed to retrieve message" and then it just never shows up.
I'm using the stock messenger app.
I know textra has an option to "fix" T-Mobile (where this happens apparently), but I don't really want to use that because it uses a different text message database than the standard one, so I can't launch tasker events based on SMS/MMS when I use it.
I have unlocked the "secret" menu and enabled HD calling, and I switched my "preferred network type" to LTE/CDMA (since I'm on Verizon) in an effort to allow voice and data concurrently. It seems to be working. Not sure if this causes an error when I'm on wifi.
I also have Adblock Plus. Per this thread I just changed my APN to set MMS port to 8080; I'll see if that affects anything when I get home.
However, as I have not tested this, I am wondering if anyone else has this problem? As I type this, I'm now thinking that I may only see this when sending messages to/from iPhones ... I'll do more testing tonight and update, but I'm hoping someone sees this and is like, "Oh, I know exactly what it is ...."
EDIT:
So this didn't fix anything. I have to turn wifi off to get mms. REALLY ANNOYING. Anyone at all see this and have any solutions? Anything?
Thanks.
never had problems since day 1 if I was on wifi or not to send MMS. Maybe try factory reset.
To my knowledge, you can't get regular MMS over WiFi. You have to have your phone data on too. I have found no solution to automatically turn phone data on when a text comes in. Every solution I found doesn't work for Lollipop.
i just got the same thing but after i updated to 6.0 so figured it was because of the update
So I have cellular data on and wifi on. I don't know if there's a setting I'm missing that turns data off automatically when connect to wifi ... anyone know anything about this?
Either way, if I'm on wifi, I get no MMS whether using default messaging app or hangouts.
There is a know issue with any app that accesses the MMS database on 6.0 ....ie Pushbullet.
Let me see if I can find a link
Found it...
