Problem after RUU - Wing, P4350 General

I somehow decided to re-flash a new version of the T-Mobile RUU. There were a lot of random apps clogging the memory, so I went ahead and installed 4.26.531.4 from HTC's official site by entering my IMEI. A couple of hours afterward, I noticed my battery drop from ~75% to critical, below 5%. I thought maybe its drained from the re-flash, so I let it charge overnight. The next day, I began use, only to notice the down hard key on the circular d-pad no longer working, and the screen scrolling downwards whenever I attempt anything (Almost as if the button was jammed) I soft reset, then hard reset to no avail, but since I wasn't home, couldn't attempt anything. The phone lost all battery power within 2 hours, and it has been doing so for the past couple of days. The screen now flickers at will even when it has been locked, as if the button is being pressed. How can I fix this to the way it should be? Is the RUU buggy? Thanks for help in advance...

try to flash it again, or do a hard reset.
but,on my opinion, you'd better move to one of ttran's rom.they're by far better than official rom.

Do you think its the rom causing the problem? Could it be hardware failure? Thanks for the reply.

bump.......

possible buggy rom try another rom if it does the same thing then hardware failure

Wizard wont turn on - however lights still flash?????

Im currently using the imate rom 2.16.9.1.wwe Rom date 2/6/06 extrom version 0 2.16.9.101
It has been working fine for the past few weeks and the performane increase has been much better. I was also using the oush mail which also worked well. Then a few days ago I started to have a few problems with the phone, basically it would look as if it was working the lights flashing, however when I went to turn it on it wouldn’t turn on. The only way to resolve this si to soft reset the handset. This problem is now occuring on average 2 times a day! I havent even installed any new software!! Thwe only major incident before this started happening was I used skype twice! But havent used it since! I have also stopped push mail cause I thought this maybe the issue but it didn’t solve it!
Its so annoying cause I think the device is operating normally cause I see the flashing lights however it cant do anything cause it has frozen!
Any ideas???
I was thinking of going for a hard reset but if I restore my backup ive taken with spb will this not just reintroduce the problem?
just to add for further info i have no apps running and the
program memory is total - 44.01mb
in use 19.67mb and Free 24.34
thats after a soft reboot!!
This might be a really silly suggestion, so appologies if it is, but could it be just the backlight turned off for some reason so it looks like the device is off when it is actually on?
No, I don't think that it is the backlight as I am also now experiencing this same problem ... approx 1 - 2 time daily. You think that the phone is functioning until you try to use it. Only option is soft reset.
Any help on this would be appreciated.
no at present a soft reset is the only cure and even then it may occur again later on! Bluey HK are you using the same rom as me??? the imate one?
its done it twice already today and its only midday! the last time i was just browsing the web, closed the browser, then switched it off and then couldnt turn it back on! Do you think it may be a memory leakage issue????
This happened to me yesterday on my T-Mobile MDA. I am running the latest T-Mobile_RUU_Wizard_2210401_221_20710_ENG_US image from xelencin.
What appears to have triggered the problem for me was attempting to connect to T-Mobile's My Email app to download mailbox settings while the signal level is too low or intermittent (Wi-fi and Bluetooth were disabled).
The backlight would not turn on and I could observe the My Email app trying to access the server.
it sounds as though it may be a bug connected with a GPRS connection???
ahh its done it again, this time i wasnt doing anything just died! I think i am gonnna have to do a hard reset cause this is making the phone unuseable!
if i do a hard reset and then install a back up is there a high possibility that this will reintroduce the bug???
its not the backlight
my 8125 is having the same damn problem. its nto a backlight issue, as it just stalls, and the past 4 times its done it, i've just removed the battery and turned it back on as a soft reset wont work, and i can't it to react to any commands. this is either a software issue all our phones are dying. i was having this problem with summitter's previous 2.17 rom, then updated to the recent 2.17.11 aku 2.2 rom... thinking the upgraded rom is what it needed...NOPE... still crashed. almost all instances i believe are when the wifi connection was active. but i could be making that up, i'm positive on 3 occasions it was with a wifi connection active. but not too sure about the 4th.
this is making me insane, and we need to figure out whats up~!
to expound on the problem:
one time i was in the middle of checking voicemail, then tried to delete, but the screen wouldn't light up, and it wasn't responding to my option 7 to delete command. the other time was in the middle of a phone call. something's up....
i am having the same issue with my 9100, its running the latest offical rom, mine does it whenever it feels i dont believe it is wifi or gprs related as i have the problem at time when i have been using neither.
there does not appear to be a link to any software i am using either
any ideas?.
yea- i get the same sometimes, i go to take my phone out of standby and it wont do anything, the power button doesnt work- the light just flashes. sometimes it freezes on the today screen, the power button dont work or anything. really need to sort this!
any ideas? any1 else get this? its where u put ur MDA in standby, and next time u press power button 2 turn on nufin happens, but the leds still flash at the top!
yep i still get the problem! still no cure!
I have exactly the same problem... I just pick up my device from my pocket to use it, I press on the power button once but the device won't wake up from the standby mode. I wish someone can give us a cure.
Low Battery...
I had this happen to me once recently...for me it was becuase my battery was too low. Freaked me out, because everything looked good, but I would power on and get nothing! Right after it started it powered on for a sec then quit. I had to put it on the charger and leave it for a couple hours to get a good solid charge, then everything was fine. Hope this helps....
thanks for the response, unfortunately mine is definately not related to the battery charge!
mine hasnt done it in the last day, ive been leaving it a while before putting it into standby. i used to exit my app (messaging or whatever) and shut it off straightaway, but i give it a sec or 2 to make sure its all good
and its doin ok so far!

Problem with my Elf: Freezing, restarting...

Hi there,
at first: sorry for my bad english.
If've some problems with my HTC touch (Elf).
At first the problem:
-> It freeze in different programs, for e.g. on today screen, at new sms incoming, in a phone call, entering pin, and so on.
-> It freeze for 10-20 seconds, then it shut down OR it restarts
-> If it restarts, it freeze sometimes at "Smart mobility" or restarts new
-> If it shutdown, it can't start up for a while (30s - 1 min)
-> ^^ Press soft reset button a couple of times (3...4...5... times) helps
-> Remove and insert akku helps, too
-> The "Smart Mobility" Screen became sometimes a red background and a yellow font
-> Sometimes after the "Smart Mobility"-Screen comes a white screen.
What I've tested to solve the problem:
-> Hard reset
-> Update Radio Rom
-> Update ISPL/SPL
-> Try different Roms ("all" available)
-> Try the "pure" (original HTc9 rom without any installations
Now, some informations about my Elf:
-> Radio Rom 03.12.90 (ASerg_ELF_RADIO_ROM_03.12.90.rar)
-> IPL: 1.11.0002
-> SPL: 1.11.0000
-> Unlocked this IPL/SPL (to install new roms)
-> WM6 .11.407.1G_4.1.13.44_02.94.90 (RUU_Elf_HTC_GER_1.11.407.1G_4.1.13.44_02.94.90_GREEN_Ship.exe)
So one. Is there anybody, who has an idea?
I have the same exact problem! Sorry for my bad english to!
Let's see if we can understand something about this problem..
I notice the problem is worst when it is hot (the weather, not the phone) and with high humidity, for example when I have the phone in the pocket of the pants.
I have the red start mobility screen to but I didn't find any info about it in internet, what does it mean?

That was my problem, too.
I think this is a hardware problem, don't you?
I think I'll send it to assistance when I'll come back from holidays
Maybe something with battery? Some non-HTC phones had problems like freezing etc. caused by too low voltage on battery

That was that, what I'm thinking about at first. I've think when the problem does starts, and I think it starts, when I was an half an hour in a cold store with my Elf. The akku discharge very fast at the moment. I'll try a new akku.
I have exactly the same problem on my Elf. Restarting at least 5 times a day. It generally blocks after i receive a phone call.
:-( I have changed 3 Roms so far but still no solution
El Greco
My phone had the same problem. Its work fine on any Custom Rom. But now from last 4-5 days its keep on freezing restarting. I chaged the Rom but no solution. Now i am going to try a Antivirus may be it helps. U guys also try & share ur experiance
same here... few weeks a go... random power offs.
few notes:
the phone cannot be turned on again only if the battery is remove for 2-3 secs and put back again
the phone clock freezes in this case. and i should set it again.
anyone having this problem?
i guess it a hardware issue
Yes the same here, my clock also freeze. I have to remove the battery but not all the time, sometimes it just need a soft reset.
Did someome already try to change the battery?
Nobody noticed that the problem is worst in the hottest part of the day and it gets better in the evening when it's colder?
Anyway, I have this problem since a couple of months and it's getting worst.
Its certainly Very warm here in Malta....
Shall I throw it in the pool.... Maybe thats the only solution.
But then What shall it be my next phone? Diamond... (reading only negative comments)
Hope to find a solution before the Pool Dive!

i also noticed twice when i was tanning (long exposure to sunlight) it happens very frequently to the point where i couldt start the phone at all. as soon as processes start to run. it powers off:S!!
Yesterday I tried 6 stores but nobody had a battery! I'll try again today..
Edit! I found a friend with the htc touch so this afternoon I will test if it's the battery the problem! At least we'll know!

Bad news.. it's not the battery!
I have a friend that worked for a year in a assistance center, he told me that probably the problem is a condensator on the motherboard that it's not working, so nothing to do.. just warranty
I Have just fixed my problem of restarting!!

so hows experience with this new Rom. Is your phone working ok.?
Since i install the Battery Status my device working fine. I listen songs for 20-30 min. Also makes call. Its working alright. The temprarue remains from 30-35 C. But the variation in mA is very much. Like some time it indicate 21mA & some times it indicate 420mA. Also shows 190mA, 221mA. Those whose devices are woking fine do they have the same range of mA? or its different. One more this the changes in mA didn't change with the uses of device. I.E if u listen or make calls it rise or fall.
Updated IPL to 2.27.0002 & USPL to 2.28.0000 + Touch ESSentiaL V 1.7, no more freezing or rebooting or "Dark Standby" (Green light blinking as normal standby mode but can't turn on and no receiving calls, must soft reset or reinsert battery to turn on), battery lasts twice time and everything work faster.

Trinity keeps hard resetting loop !

Hi all.
I've had my Trinity for 3 years now, and all of a sudden, the phone keeps doind hard resets without notice.
I tried to install a different ROM, even a 6.5 one, but this problems keep happening.
Any idea what's the problem??
Thanks in advance.
Anyone??? no one had a problem like this before?
me too
OK,
now I have the same problem.
Screen suddenly get black with backlight on. Only option then is taking the battery out or wait until it's out of power. When this happens, Trinity will start fully reseted next time with every data on on it loss.
And yes, this happens over and over again, so you can really call it some kind of loop.
Good news however, that flashing new ROM would be almost wasted time.
Then it would be even dangerous whilest this happens on flashing.
Also I feel that it does not happen when all automatic power saving options are deactivated. Maybe it happens while switching the backlight off?!
Do you have SIM-Lock? Because I still have and GPS also not installed with oldest Win5 Rom ever (caught on ebay )
Any solution?
Thanks for every idea.
EDIT: I found also this threat beneath. This problems might be of same value.:

I do not know if I had already said, but for me it worked with the procedure I linked in my last post. Say it was the screen plug inside. It sounds like botch but I have not had any problems anymore

HD2 Bug: No Standby mode, screen always on

Hello
My HD2 Worked well for a long time, but now everytime I press the "sleep" key it turns off for half a second then turns back on and proudly displays the lockscreen without me pressing anything. There is no way to turn the screen off and go in standby mode anymore.
Obviously the battery drains so much faster from not being able to have the screen off and this silly problem actually makes the phone unusable
I flashed a few roms using HardSPL and now HSPL2. I'm currently running Artemis 11.0, the problem appeared may days after flashing while using Artemis ROM 9.0. A hard reset seemed to fix it but the problem reappeared. Today flashing 11.0 only solved the problem at first boot.
Anyone had that before? Not sure if it's software/rom related or not anymore. HELP
As far as Ive seen, its only you an me who have had this problem so far.
Honestly, Im relieved to see someone else with this problem.
I had exactly as you described, but using Axlor roms.
It worked fine for 1/2months, then all of a suddon the screen backlight wouldnt go off, but a reset fixed it.
But it got worse and worse.
Now nothing will work...
Ive taken everything back to stock, and i mean EVERYTHING! Not a single app installed.
And I still have this problem. I've tried it all.
I think its a warrenty job....
EDIT:
I also noticed the backlight will go off fine when the phone is charging, is that the same for you?
I just sent the phone off to Tmob today, to see if they can fix/replace it.
I'll keep you informed.
Same problem. Was running fine on stock ROM 1.66 then backlight did not dim and would not go into standby. Put into standby, screen goes off then straight back on to the lock screen. Since then have had other problems at boot, sometimes it locks on HTC white screen needing battery removal, sometimes launches straight into Navipanel and will not exit, HTC sense homescreen sometimes launches in landscape and will not go into normal portrait mode. Reflashed with different ROM's same symptoms persist so have returned to Vodafone UK under warranty, fingers crossed.
i've had this on early versions of the rom i use, the chef fixed it, making me think its the software, not your phone.
I experienced this issue when I minimised a game called virtual pool. Closing it in task manager would then allow me to permanently make the phone sleep.

Yes the problem is exactly what you describe, hard reset and flashing to a stock rom doesn t fix it with no programm running in the background
Navipanel seems to be on randomly sometimes so can I guess it could be related.
I found a fix, after starting the phone, plugging and unplugging the usb cable to the phone WHILE THE SCREEN IS ON fixes it but only until the next restart
Considering sending it for warranty now.
Thanks for replies! If anybody knows more let us know
Update re standby problem
Got my phone back from Vodafone UK today. Was advised software corrupted and that they had reflashed and it had been fully tested and was now working fine.
On power up (even without SD card or SIM) it had exactly the same fault as before, when put into sleep mode the screen comes back on after about 1 second.
I tried the plug in and remove USB lead fix and this also works for me until the next restart so it would seem that this must be a hardware problem.

I have same problem guys after 4 months using. ...and my HD2 is unusable with no standby. I mean battery gets weak during 2-3 hours. Whats your guess guys is it software problem. Cause Im afraid of this is hardware prob because after reset goes my device in wrong state.
Help!
Sadly I'm running into this same error with my t-mobile hd2....getting serious power drain...can anyone confirm if the task 29 helped at all? Mine won't stay off for more than 30 seconds.
** Found out the google easy sms beta app I was running had a service which was causing the app to come out of standby...uninstalling this app cured the problem.
For me, it was a sd slot problem. When i removed the sd card, phone always waked up after 0.5 seconds, and card was detected as bad.
Now the SD slot was changed (under guarranty) and it work fine, no wake up if sd slot is empty.
Any update on this? My HD2 starting doing this today as well
And I have no usb cable at work to 'trick' it. The only option is to pull the battery which I don't want to do. This is ridiculous. Am I going to have to hard-reset the damn thing to fix it?
FYI I didn't do *ANYTHING* to my phone in a couple of weeks (no new apps, etc.) and it started doing this out of the blue.
You hit the red 'end call' button and it goes black..then comes right back on.
The odd thing is it *thinks* its plugged in because the only screen setting I can get it to acknoweldge is the 'backlight level when charging'. So somehow my phone thinks its plugged in even though my only usb cable is back home.
Grrr. No registry tweaks or temp files I can delete to reset this behavior?

Hardware problem? Screen keeps turning on after I turn it off!

Hi everyone,
For the last few days, I've been having a problem with my HD2.
When I press the power button to lock the screen and turn off the display, one or two seconds later, the phone turns it back on again.
I had just flashed the new NRG Rom, so thought that may have been an issue. I reflashed with a different Rom, and had the same problems. To make sure I wasn't overlooking something, I reflashed the original official rom, and done a hard reset.
The problem was still there last night. Even when the screen dimmed after 30 seconds, a few seconds later it would come back to the original brightness.
I did notice, however, that it doesn't do it when it was plugged in to USB or when charging. I'm trying to drain my battery, in case it's an issue that is only occurring when the battery falls below a certain level - although I don't know why it would do this.
So far today, it's not done it. Although I'm not sure whether that's because my phone was charging all night. I just wondered whether anyone else has had this problem before?
Another thing I've noticed is that I used to have a radio with .50. However, after I flashed one of the first roms, I now seem to have a .51 radio. I was told that the .51 radios can sometimes cause problems. Is it likely that this could be causing the issue?
Thanks for any help you can offer!
I'm having the same problem with stock vodafone Rom. I can solve it by plugging my HD2 in the charger, lock the device with the power button. The screen stays off and it will stay off when i unplug the device.
Unfortunately the issue keeps coming back about once a day.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=656966
Always fine to read that you're not the only one with a stange issue
Finally I had to flash back to stock to get rid of it. First went back to my stock radio and than SPL 1.42. Than reflashed the original ROM from HTC.
Problems for me are gone now. I got no clue if it solved the problem on the long run. Till now it proved my suspicion that HSPL in combination with the USB hardware/drivers caused the problem.

ENERGY roms are not compatible with the .51 radios. If you had a .51 radio and flashed energy, the phone would get stuck at the boot screen.
