I must not be getting something very obvious...
Indeed
Look under "storage card" and there should be your 3832.50MB's of storage space...
check "Storage Card" -> Internal Storage

TRUE! you are not getting the obvious lol
as mentioned the 4gb is a different part to the phones memory.
You can save stuff into your phones Internal Storage/Storage Card, and when performing Hard Resets/flashing ROMS they will stay intact
Outch....!
I had looked there, sorry, should have attached these screenshots earlier. There is an "Internal Storage" folder on the device, but no "Storage Card" in it.
Make sure to check when not connected in Hard Disk Mode to PC. Internal storage will not show on phone in this mode.
Same story when not connected to PC at all.

Thats strange, look if Activesync is active, try soft reset, at last hard-reset, if it still not working i would reflash it and if its not working then.. return to the store...
I tried all of the above except for re-flashing. I think I'll skip that (not a very advanced user here) and go straight to the "return to the store" step - unless you guys have more ideas.
THANKS to everybody!
Are you sure that you dont have HTC Touch Pro ? IE diamond with hardware keyboard ? Because you have 288MB RAM and diamond has 192 if im not wrong.. So if you have HTC Touch Pro than you will have to buy memory card.
You might want to try a hard reset before returning to the store. This will reformat your device automatically and erase all data on your phone and intstall the operating system again. It will return to factory settings, just as it came in the box, but hopefully with 4GB of storage memory.
Look in the wiki how to perform the hard reset...
Back up any personal data you might have entered before hard resetting or it will be lost.
You must have bought the Pro version the one with the external keyboard
No, this is definitely the Touch Diamond without the slide-out keyboard, the CDMA Sprint USA locked version.
I had tried hard reset, and it did not correct the problem.
Just got off the phone with the store - I'll receive a replacement tomorrow. YAY! Thanks again to everybody.
connect as hard drive disk -> disk management -> format in fat32 mode?

That IS the 4GB right there. The internal storage folder. You will find it has 38xx MB of storage WITHIN that folder!!!
However, if it's not allowing you to use that it's indeed faulty!

I turned on my Hermes this morning and it started giving me a lot of errors on the today screen. They were errors regarding programs that were installed on the storage card and the device couldn't display everything (such as HTC Home, etc.) and locked-up. After a few soft-resets, still the same. I took out the card and put it in a card reader, but it seems that almost everything is gone from there and what's left, both files and folders, has weird names (»╣SöôdεÑ.z╕ë , ╔╞DGV)0.╡En , φE}░wx÷,.Γö6 , £#╚Ç3.3c, etc.). Also, the contents of the storage card show up as having 33.8 GB!!! How come?
What's to be done to recover my files?
I could hard-reset the device, but the data on the storage card is still gone! I don't care about the programs on it (I can reinstall those) but My Documents and other files that I had on it are important!!!

Try an application like memmaid or stk tools (or perhaps other people have better ideas/applications) to repair the content. Don't format the card yet!
Good luck

But there's nothing I can do with the device, since it locks-up, it doesn't synchronize with the PC... I actually had MemMaid installed, but the device does not respond. Also, MemMaid was installed on the storage card.
After hard-reset, device working, but still have the same problem with the storage card data (corrupted, lost?).

So install a 'repair utility' on the device and see what you recover on the SD card.
btw, I NEVER install an application on the SD card

I have MemMaid installed on device, now. What's next? There's no data recovery tool in it (is there?).
I always had lots of programs installed on the storage card and had absolutely no problems (until now). I usually do that because the device memory fills-up tooooo fast. I had my Hermes for about 1 1/2 years with no problems of any kind.
Hi all,
This always happened to me. In winmobile 6 and now 6.5. For some reasons since yesterday apps which installed to my storage card disconnected it's link or short cuts in the start menu. Now all of the apps in my storage card i can't access from start menu. when i clicked the app icon in my start menu my HD2 responded
"Cant open XXX. File is not registered or not trusted in digital signature, or can't find one of the files elements. Please resintall or restore this file."
I have to go to the file directory in my storage card to run the apps. This is very annoying and very inconivence. Anyone knows why? What's worse is that all of the new apps that i installed to my storage card has the same issue... Which means i can't no longer install apps to my storage card...
Help?
Use file explorer to find your chosen program icon /copy it
Still using file explorer go to device/windows/start menu/programs and paste shortcut using left hand bottom menu
Job done ! Rename it if you want !
DISREGARD THE LAST MADE AN ERROR !!

if you go to file explorer can you read your sd card? I had the same issue and it was the sd card that failed so it could not read/find the program it was looking for. Try for kicks copying over some apps to a different storage card and retry. It will at least eliminate that possibility.
Yes, HD2 can read the SD card, and i have to go to the SD card location to run the apps. Just can not access from the start up menu...

I had the same problem you described. It happened after some old program I launched got the phone stuck and I had to pull the battery out to do a reset.
After the boot completed, I started to receive errors when trying to launch programs from the storage card. Uninstalling wouldn't work and reinstalling always failed.
Replacing the sd card didn't help either.
I believe that something corrupted the registry.
I finally gave up and hard reset.
The only good thing that came out of it was getting a new 16GB sd card for me to use.
My happened when i installed a lockscreen cab to my HD2 to the main memory. After that everything i installed to the storage card wont run from the startup menu.
Really? some dude told me to reformat my storage card. I'd rather do a hard resert cuz i have alot of crap in my 16G storage card.
I haven't gave up yet so i will still try to look for my other options... Thanks to know at least i am not the only one who encounter this fu**ing problem...

Gave up and hard reset a couple of times, and i found out that the reason i can't click the icon in my start menu to access the apps which i installed in my storage card. It was because of i change the local and Text. I changed from Taiwan to USA and HD2 will not let me access the apps from start menu. This is very wierd, but if i change back to Region: Chinese Taiwan, then my HD2 is ok again... Just to share with you guys...

Why is it not a good idea? Its what its there for so use it!
When I'm on "Documents" tab it says - "SD card is full or missing"
Any way around it ?
Come on ... nobody has this problem ?!!!
I had that problem too and I wish I could give you a way to fix it, but I had to perform a hard reset after WMWifiRouter screwed my WiFi up. Your post reminded me about the problem with the documents tab and I just checked it... turns out the hard reset also fixed this issue for me.
I'll let you know if it comes back and we can work out a fix that doesn't involve resetting everything on the phone.
I actually performed hard reset (because of a different issue). Unfortunately it did not fix Documents tab problem

hmm no clue then, sorry. Think if it were me i'd try copy off all the files and folders onto the pc then format the sd card and copy everything back, just to see.
Did you remove the original SD card that came with it? Or, replace it with another one? I know it's in the manual that once you do it, the SD card may not work anymore, or something like that. Maybe that's the cause, I'm just guessing since I don't have this kind of problem.
microSD card came with T-Mobile Hd2 (US version) already inserted. Did not touch it
I have this problem too with my Touch HD.
I can't read my documents. It says: "SD card is full or missing".
Any help. Please...

Did exactly same thing but it did not fix it for me
Format worked for me, although I'm pretty sure the SD card was fine, and was gonna compare the pre-format files to post-format and see if I accidentally deleted anything that would cause this. Was in a hurry though, and never ended up comparing.
Formatted(full) SD card on PC, then put in phone and formatted there to get the stock files back on. Then copied everything else over (TF movies, and my downloads, etc..). Worked fine after that.
Hi
I had the same problem and quicikly solved this issue:
Go to: \Carte de stockage or Storage card\Application Data\HTC\databases\DocExp
And delete 2 files: postlist.DB & value.DB
It worked for me, hope the same for you
Installing a network plugin caused the issue on mine, when I unistalled it worked again

mdean, do you happen to have the name or the cab handy, so I can take a peek at it for a possible connection to the cause? Thanks!
I tried 3 different ones, all caused the problem - generic network plugin, htc network plugin, and schnaps network plugin
SD Card is full or Missing - SOLVED
1. Delete the folder - Storage card\Application Data
2. Tab again the document tab - wait re-loading until finish searching all documents
3. Successful!
thanks dude i was having the same problem, when i enabled shared network folder in touch tool, it stop working but i went back and disabled it and now working again.
Glad you all figured it out... I had this problem 3 weeks ago and immediately after enabling and setting up the network plugin with Touch Tools 1.4. Luckily, I didn't have to look for the cause since the last thing I did was install & use the network plugin!
So, for future reference.........
Also, your facebook pictures in htc album's facebook tab will stop showing up if you manually assign a "CacheSize" value other than 0 to HKLM\System\StorageManager\FATFS.
Be advised!
all of a sudden my phone is asking me to format my memory card, and the mc is not showing up on file explorer.
i didnt want to format it but in the end i had to . but still it says format memory card. and i still cant get into it .
can someone pls help on this as i have done everything i can think of
thanks in advance
have you been playing with the ramdisk tweaks? If yo dont set 'autoformat' it asks every boot.
If the memory card is not showing up and even does not after a format, your card could be bad ....
its time to change your card. your hd2 has corrupted your card. but don't worry you are not the only one having this problem. there are tons of users out there who got this prob.

firstly, i have nothing but trouble with adapters that the switch slides to write protect when you enter it in the reader slot. I ended up taking them all off, so double and tripple check that.
Secondly, if you go to control panel/administrative tools/computer management (or words to that effect, depending on windows version)
look for disk management, and find your sd card there. See what it says, it could be that you can format it from there, or rebuild teh partition.
(Better still if you have a partition manager program handy, see if you can force it to rebuild the partition on teh card.)
However in all likelihood, its a duff card. It seems to be an emerging theme with the leo, cards going bad.

You said something about memory card being BAD. What does it mean. When trying to make a partition, I saw something saying "bad disk" talking about my 32 gig MC.
I cannot reformat my MC and when tried, it says "windows unsuccessfully formatted the device". Any ideas on how to reformat my sd card friends?
I stopped using windows to format my sdcard as it does a mediocre job at best. All I use now is sdformatter. It does a much better job. I even had a card my hd2 said was bad and it revived it. Give it a try. I also use mini tool partition wizard for any and all partitioning required.
Can someone help me out it would be greatly appreciated. How would I make sure my phone is safe to sell as far as security reasons go? I dont want any of my personal information still on here. I'm running cm7 and i just did a factory reset and connected my phone to my computer and moved everything from mnt/emmc to my computer but when i go under file manager on my phone there seems to still be some files left behind? are these safe to leave? How would i go about preparing my phone to sell. Some of the files in /mnt/emmc are stuff like .spotlight-v100, .Trashes, .adobe, .taggedFriendPhotos, LOST.DIR, and theres some other stuff aswell
You should definitely format the internal storage, use your computer. There's nothing left after that.

Never touched a mac, but
in windows you open the file manager. find your device , should be listed as a "usb storage" device. Right click and choose format.
ta-da!
H'm it seems like the factory reset should have got rid of these files. Should I worry about them? And would formatting on my computer get rid of these files?
H'm it seems like the factory reset should have got rid of these files. Should I worry about them? And would formatting on my computer get rid of these files?
what kind of files you talking about?
".spotlight-v100, .Trashes, .adobe, .taggedFriendPhotos, LOST.DIR, and theres some other stuff aswell." Folders like these....and there not deleting even after a factory reset
You can always use fastboot and erase userdata, data, cache etc
factory reset doesnt touch your internal storage. it only wipes /data and /system
use the FORMAT sdcard option in the settings....
you could do a fastboot -w and then install a fruitcake, can't you? i've never used -w before, dunno if it deletes everything on the internal storage or not.
I have gone through quite a bit of phones until i got to this one and all you really need to do is restore factory defaults and keep your sd card
