I'm looking for a program that uses G-sensor and GPS to measure acceleration (0-100, 50-70, 70-110 etc), standing quartermile times and other performance-related measurements.
Any suggestions? I've seen "GPS Performance", but this app uses only GPS and I believe the measurements would be rather crude. But maybe I'm wrong?
Anyone up to writing such a program? I believe it would have a big commercial potential.

Ciao, Andrea
Searching doesn't always work so well... Searching for "gps performance" on XDA = thousands of hits in Diamond section only . Searching for "gps performance acceleration" yielded only a few, but the one you suggested was not one of them, so thank you.
Hoping for more suggestions as gMeter is only in its infancy so far.

Hello all,
I have searched the forums and drawn a blank (have found some other useful things though). I am looking for a program that just displays GPS co-ordinates, speed and altitude in a very simple interface. I have tried WMminiGPS and really like it, but the altitude doesn't work. Can anyone recommend a similar program?
Thanks in advance.

Hi. Where can i find the "Advanced Configuration" on the Xperia... a previous thread mentions this. I want to use the AGPS.
Regards,
Joel
Hi Joel,
as I wrote as reply to the other, related thread. They must have talked about a setting in Tom Tom to enable or disable A-GPS.
In general it is always enabled on the X1 - proven in my Mobile Navigator software, where I've a SAT-Fix in seconds.
How long does it take your applicaiton to get a SAT-Fix? If is is below a minute your A-GPS seems to be enabled.
Eric
Yeah i just read it. I do have tom tom nav 7 also however and cannot find the option, but like you said i think it is already enables as when i'm outside it picks it up in about 20 secs.
cheers for the reply.
regards,
Joel
No ... AGPS is not enabled by default. If you search on here for the Advanced Config tool there is a setting there to enable it.
However, it is disabled for a reason... It causes a lot of problems in TomTom. It doesn't make any improvements anyway, so I would avoid. Do a search for AGPS and you will see a post relating to this problem.

Advance Config Tool needs to be added to the X1. Get it here:

Does anyone geo-tag their HD photos? I can't find a way to enable it in camera settings.
I had to download an app to enable it on my TyTNII.
Can't find anything by searching this forum or Googling
You can enable it with HDTweak, as far as i remember
Brilliant! Thanks
I have enabled the option in HD Tweak, and have even tried Shozu and locr, but even with a GPS lock, it doesn't seem to save the GPS data to the photo.
I'm using the Orange ROM, and don't really want to reflash it just to make this work with the hacked footprints tab, so has anyone got any ideas?
TIA
My problem is GPS doesn't start.
I've been using the free GPSToday (www.geoterrestrial.com) and their GeoTagger plugin which monitors your photo directory. When it sees a new file it tries to get a GPS fix and then embeds the location in the file. So far it's worked flawlessly.
Can you try uploading one of the photos it's tagged too google picasa to see if it can see the gps data and map the piccy please?
So far, these things tell me they are tagging them, but when you upload them, it's not tagged.
locr and shozu both work flawlessly on my N95, so I know the platforms and google picasa work.
I attached a GPS photo taken with my HD (bike trip with my girlfriend ) with the 'GPS-photo' option. I'm absolutly sure it has GPS info in it, because I upload all my pictures to Flickr, where they automaticly show up on the map at the right location. Good luck
*EDIT* When uploading a photo as attacment to the XDA forum, all GPS data is stripped. So here's a direct link to download the original file:
http://www.fittingmedia.nl/divers/GPS_011.jpg
Just tried uploading one of my photos tagged with GPSToday to PicasaWeb and it's recognised the GPS data perfectly. Here's the photo
http://picasaweb.google.com/apcd2apcd2/Desktop?authkey=Gv1sRgCLr5tdy08-bb9wE&feat=directlink
Very simple but you have to edit the registry.
go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Camera\P10
and set the value of "Enable" to 1
Thank you'll find a new camera mode in the standard HTC camera program that is "GPS". It activates and deactivates the GPS automatically.
Enjoy
Do you guys want to have gps info on all photos or what? I didn't get the point.
Touch HD Camera has a "GPS Photo" mode..which can be selected manually by going in to "advance" options in the "camera mode" .
right clicking on the image on windowsXP and checking the image property doesn't show the GPS info..but if opened with any other viewer..XNview..lightroom..photoshop.. in EXIF data u can see the GPS info.
so please tell me whats the point of using tweakers to enable GPS tagging? or i'm missing somethig

Not on some stock ROM images, such as mine.
I personally choose to use it because when I share photos online, with things such as Picasa Web, it shows people on a map where the pictures were taken.
No real serious use for me, but it's a little more info for people, and you can also view public galleries and it will display all pictures taken in a certain area.
EDIT: OK I found the option, everywhere I looked and in PM's people were telling me to look in advanced settings for this, it's actually an option on the 2nd page of "Capture Mode" and not in settings, or an advanced tab at all. No wonder I couldn't see it lol.

The tweak is necessary to enable the GPS photo button in the advance tab when using a stock ROM
How long does it take for you to take a photo this way? Mine just says "starting gps" and nothing happens. I even tried waiting 3-4 minutes, the time it takes Garmin XT Mobile to get the gps signal here, but nothing.
i get the point now! i bought blackstone with a diff language than i'm using ..and installed cooked rom straightaway.. so i didn't know the diff(to the minor details) b/w a stock rom and a cooked one. Sorry for taking things as granted!
thnx ppl for the info!

It takes about 10 to 30 seconds, depending on where I'm standing. It indeed should take about the same time as Garmin.
But 3 to 4 minutes is a LONG time for any GPS app to get a fix... If you get that working right, GPS-Photo will probably work fine too.

- Well, offcourse the obvious. Try it outside, with no high buildings etc. around you and that sort of things.
- Then, try to update QuickGPS with new satelite info (makes a lot of difference).
- DISABLE AGps. Does more harm then good.
- Maybe try a different radio. I'm using 1.12 and get very quick GPS fixes. Faster then 1.9 and 1.10.
Let us know how it turns out!
Anyone know any thing new on any effort to port Footprints to Blackstone? all posts are a bit old. there's a standalone that sorta works on Blackstone but the resolution is wrong so text is misaligned and its not very usable. anyone made any headway at porting it to a tab or at least a usable standalone? It would REALLY rock if anyone could port it to an manila v3 tab!!! i'd donate for the effort. sure many would!

I can't do that cause i still don't know how to backup the original radio. I would like to backup everything i need for warranty sake. I posted a thread here, but got no answers. I know it's all been explained here, but it's just too confusing. I know how to backup ROM, but i need to know what else i need to backup an HOW, before i flash a new radio and ROM.
The current device info is:
ROM: 1.14.479.3 (25874) WWE
ROM DATE: 11/12/08
RADIO: 1.09.25.14
PROTOCOL: 52.49a.25.26U

I did all you said, and nothing helped. However, i did notice this - i started Garmin, got a lock in a matter of seconds (after i did the fast GPS thing, so i'm guessing Garmin is using that), turned it off and geotagging worked instantly. So, i'm guessing camera has a problem using quick GPS or starting GPS by itself. Any ideas on this?
This is just a heads up to a great new app Flix by member jmbilings over in the Raphael forums. It will download all your local cinema listings from yahoo based on your postcode, gps position or city. It is working great but so far only UK is supported but more to follow I believe. Give it a look and post over there.
great idea, but for some reason when i go to my lcoation, it sticks on 'initialising GPS' anyone know why?

Hi there-
If it says that, you've clicked the "Where am I" button. This activates your GPS so that it will try and work out where you are, so if you were indoors it would never get a signal.
The GPS side is something I will enhance at some point, but for now you just need to enter your location (town or postcode) in the box above.
when i type in my postcode it doesnt find it!!!
please post screen shot.
I'm running the HTC TUR 1.61 ROM and have installed BsB Tweaks 1.6 so that I can access the hidden camera modes to use GPS Photo. The GPS Photo mode initializes and works. But when I go to 'Show on map' it puts the latitude as a positive value rather than a negative so that it places the location exactly the same distance the other side of Greenwich that it should be. The longitude is absolutely spot on but the latitude, if it is supposed to be 50 miles west of Greenwich, ends up being 50 miles east of Greenwich!
Is anyone else experiencing this bug using this ROM and tweak combination?
yep mine is inaccurate as well... off by some 500m
GPS Photo Mode - can't see geotag info
I completed the following from the excellent "things you may not have known thread" by tboy2000
14 To enable GPS Photo mode:
Go to HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\P10
set "Enable" to "1"
I have searched to see if I can find what happpens next, I tried taking a few shots normally (not footprints), then with google maps and gps running but in neither case could I see any geotag info when i copied the pictures to picasa which picks up geotagging.
Please could someone tell me what I need to do. I have obviously missed something I Have checked the regedit is still present as ajusted above, thats not the problem, its just how to benifit from the result!
Thanks Simon.
ops, reallly sorry jumping on this thread with this separate question, i meant to post it separately. I will see if any replies then if not will re post. sorry again.

I have a problem with GPS photo latitude too!
Currently I'm on latitude -22degrees 48' 37.03" (south), but when I see ask the photo properties in my Windows desktop, I see for the latitude: -2147483648 degrees 0' 37.03"!
By the way, I should note that -2147483648 = 0x8000.0000.
The longitude is ok!
Anyone else? And more important: how to solve this?
@creed: I didn't understand some points in your post: what program are you using to "show on map"? And latitude is related to the equatorial plane; not Greenwich. So, there's something odd in your message.
@Si607: I wanted to to something similar to you, but using Flickr because I saw in one a reviews that Flickr is more precise in its geotags than Picasaweb. Anyway, if we don't solve this problem first, there's no use to the automatic geotagging at all.
Edit: My ROM version is 1.48 and I used BsB Tweaks too.

Sorry you are quite right. It's my longitude that is out. I used Picasa to display the location. It was very accurate with respect to latitude within 10m.
Hi guys.
I have the same problem, im mi case its longitude value, i have registry tricky (bsb tweaks).
When try to show on map (google maps), gps values on exif data represent wrong position.
GPS Longitude 0.509792 degrees
in the mediterranean sea
Where te real position its:
GPS Longitude -0.509792 degrees
I think the problem is negative values. I have HTC HD2 (rom bsb 3).
Any tip to correct this?
Thanks

I cant find a GPS Photo mode either. Did you ever find out how to get it to work?
You have to chose capture mode on the camera app, chose next screen and then chose the gps photo mode, it will then find your gps and let you take a photo.
I've not tried mine so not sure if mine is accurate or not
the negative value is sooo annoying~
I do not think many people has tried this GPS function... Or maybe there's not many who is in the southern hemisphere and use this function ...

Hi!
I'm in southern hemisphere (see the flag ) and as I said before (post #5), my longitude is ok but the latitude is completely nonsense. Its strange... everybody here seems to have longitude problems, while I have latitude problems.
So I gave up this mode and started using only footprints. It's not as practical nor has as many options as the camera mode, but it does the job.

I m about the -ve value of latitude too, if you use something like EXIFreader, you ll see the lat = -XXX, and south , while in my HTC DIAMOND, there 's no -ve value at all.
I had some GPS pic when I was in northern hemisphere, and they are all good...
if I manually type in the value from the EXIF in google map , without the -ve , it ll spot the correct location....
Temp solution is to use a EXIF editor to pick the -ve value and edit it to a positive value
I find nice solution using freeware GPSToday (Open market), in mi HD2 works very well and geodata is correct now. Software GPSToday have a plugin for auto geotagg photos, you only need activate this plugin, provide in plugin settings DCIM\100MEDIA directory and RUN.
Mine is: \\Storage Card\DCIM\100MEDIA
http://www.geoterrestrial.com/ (GpsToday)
When software adquire satelites ask for create account. You can create and disable later real time localization.
http://www.geoterrestrial.com/geotagger/
When you shot photo, GPSToday launch audible sound to inform you pic was geotagged.
Works great and geotagg photo its correct now.
Using its very easy, launch GPSToday, start adquiring satellite, left bottom corner (initially in red), when satellite status adquiring green color return to windows home and launch photo in normal mode. Voila
Of course, GPSToday have a more interesting tools, totally recomended.
PD: I know, mi English sucks
I heard about that GPStoday before, but it's known to suck up a lot of batterie life
I hope someome will fix the GPS problem!
