Does anyone geo-tag their HD photos? I can't find a way to enable it in camera settings.
I had to download an app to enable it on my TyTNII.
Can't find anything by searching this forum or Googling
You can enable it with HDTweak, as far as i remember
Brilliant! Thanks
I have enabled the option in HD Tweak, and have even tried Shozu and locr, but even with a GPS lock, it doesn't seem to save the GPS data to the photo.
I'm using the Orange ROM, and don't really want to reflash it just to make this work with the hacked footprints tab, so has anyone got any ideas?
TIA
My problem is GPS doesn't start.
I've been using the free GPSToday (www.geoterrestrial.com) and their GeoTagger plugin which monitors your photo directory. When it sees a new file it tries to get a GPS fix and then embeds the location in the file. So far it's worked flawlessly.
Can you try uploading one of the photos it's tagged too google picasa to see if it can see the gps data and map the piccy please?
So far, these things tell me they are tagging them, but when you upload them, it's not tagged.
locr and shozu both work flawlessly on my N95, so I know the platforms and google picasa work.
I attached a GPS photo taken with my HD (bike trip with my girlfriend ) with the 'GPS-photo' option. I'm absolutly sure it has GPS info in it, because I upload all my pictures to Flickr, where they automaticly show up on the map at the right location. Good luck
*EDIT* When uploading a photo as attacment to the XDA forum, all GPS data is stripped. So here's a direct link to download the original file:
http://www.fittingmedia.nl/divers/GPS_011.jpg
Just tried uploading one of my photos tagged with GPSToday to PicasaWeb and it's recognised the GPS data perfectly. Here's the photo
http://picasaweb.google.com/apcd2apcd2/Desktop?authkey=Gv1sRgCLr5tdy08-bb9wE&feat=directlink
Very simple but you have to edit the registry.
go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Camera\P10
and set the value of "Enable" to 1
Thank you'll find a new camera mode in the standard HTC camera program that is "GPS". It activates and deactivates the GPS automatically.
Enjoy
Do you guys want to have gps info on all photos or what? I didn't get the point.
Touch HD Camera has a "GPS Photo" mode..which can be selected manually by going in to "advance" options in the "camera mode" .
right clicking on the image on windowsXP and checking the image property doesn't show the GPS info..but if opened with any other viewer..XNview..lightroom..photoshop.. in EXIF data u can see the GPS info.
so please tell me whats the point of using tweakers to enable GPS tagging? or i'm missing somethig

Not on some stock ROM images, such as mine.
I personally choose to use it because when I share photos online, with things such as Picasa Web, it shows people on a map where the pictures were taken.
No real serious use for me, but it's a little more info for people, and you can also view public galleries and it will display all pictures taken in a certain area.
EDIT: OK I found the option, everywhere I looked and in PM's people were telling me to look in advanced settings for this, it's actually an option on the 2nd page of "Capture Mode" and not in settings, or an advanced tab at all. No wonder I couldn't see it lol.

The tweak is necessary to enable the GPS photo button in the advance tab when using a stock ROM
How long does it take for you to take a photo this way? Mine just says "starting gps" and nothing happens. I even tried waiting 3-4 minutes, the time it takes Garmin XT Mobile to get the gps signal here, but nothing.
i get the point now! i bought blackstone with a diff language than i'm using ..and installed cooked rom straightaway.. so i didn't know the diff(to the minor details) b/w a stock rom and a cooked one. Sorry for taking things as granted!
thnx ppl for the info!

It takes about 10 to 30 seconds, depending on where I'm standing. It indeed should take about the same time as Garmin.
But 3 to 4 minutes is a LONG time for any GPS app to get a fix... If you get that working right, GPS-Photo will probably work fine too.

- Well, offcourse the obvious. Try it outside, with no high buildings etc. around you and that sort of things.
- Then, try to update QuickGPS with new satelite info (makes a lot of difference).
- DISABLE AGps. Does more harm then good.
- Maybe try a different radio. I'm using 1.12 and get very quick GPS fixes. Faster then 1.9 and 1.10.
Let us know how it turns out!
Anyone know any thing new on any effort to port Footprints to Blackstone? all posts are a bit old. there's a standalone that sorta works on Blackstone but the resolution is wrong so text is misaligned and its not very usable. anyone made any headway at porting it to a tab or at least a usable standalone? It would REALLY rock if anyone could port it to an manila v3 tab!!! i'd donate for the effort. sure many would!

I can't do that cause i still don't know how to backup the original radio. I would like to backup everything i need for warranty sake. I posted a thread here, but got no answers. I know it's all been explained here, but it's just too confusing. I know how to backup ROM, but i need to know what else i need to backup an HOW, before i flash a new radio and ROM.
The current device info is:
ROM: 1.14.479.3 (25874) WWE
ROM DATE: 11/12/08
RADIO: 1.09.25.14

I did all you said, and nothing helped. However, i did notice this - i started Garmin, got a lock in a matter of seconds (after i did the fast GPS thing, so i'm guessing Garmin is using that), turned it off and geotagging worked instantly. So, i'm guessing camera has a problem using quick GPS or starting GPS by itself. Any ideas on this?

Hi All,
We have a new version of an application, which is now available on beta and would greatly appreciate it if any of you have time to participate in the trial and provide me with feedback on whether the software works or not on your device.
In simple terms the new version of the application allows you to broadcast both an image stream and GPS data which can be viewed either in real-time or later via the Live Media Web application
Here's a quick video introduction to the software

This is really good app and is very promising. I have been testing for phil for a while on this. Yes it can put quite a drain on the battery, however when im driving i have it plugged into the charger so as long as i stay topped off then it does alright.

i had experienced this before with some of dutty's roms, if the .net isnt cooked into the rom correctly then it throws major errors like that. try re-installing netcf and see if that cures your problems!
*i will note that on some cooked roms re-installing netcf doesnt help because of the way it was cooked in.

Mogul on Sprint
I've had a couple of reported problems about running the app on the Sprint Mogul, if anybody has sucessfully (or otherwise) run the app on a Sprint mogul it would be helpful to know if this is generic problem or not.
Many thanks
Phil
I have a mogul and it seems to work flawlessly. I was able to broadcast two separate feeds with gps.
Does this software work with WiFi, and cache the images & GPS coordinates, for upload at a later date?
I dont have an unliminated data plan, and uploading multiple images would require me to take out a loan
Cheers, Mike.
EDIT:
I've just gave this a try with WiFi, and it seems to work well.
GPS shows me moving from my office to my lounge, very freaky, very accurate
Just the question about the cache left.
I guess since it does "broadcasting" then it probably cant (yet?) cache the video and GPS data?
Cheers, Mike.

I am getting the same error when i try to do a broadcast. I am running "[Apr 16] Dutty's WM6.1 5.2.19209 Release [User Guide & ChangeLog in Post 2] UPDATED" which has 3.5 installed already. I tried re-installing netcf 3.5 and i get an error about memory and closing applications, to restart phone and try to re-install. I tried that and got the same exact error. So i re-flashed with Dutty's rom, as listed above, but tried installing netcf from the get go and got the same exact error. Anyone have any ideas???
Would it also be possible to have an option to enable the flash?
The camera flash light on my device is only half decent, but having it on would be a great option.

Sorry, the software isn't linked in to other IM systems at the moment. Only other Live Media users can access your broadcasts, because they need the Live Media client to be able to see what you are broadcasting.

Hi Phil,
Yeah, shortly after posting that question I messed around with it a little bit and made a test name. Everything is working great now.
Now, anyway of making the feed fullscreen on computer?
Version Update
There is now an updated version available, with some of your feature requests in.
Record Mode
Allows you record your broadcasts with GPS offline and upload them later.
On the Broadcaster's setting screen there is a new item "Live broadcast" - tap/select and the Broadcast menu option changes to Record.
If you have a storage card, then the files are saved to the livemedia folder, otherwise under \\appData\livemedia.
On the website, login and under My Broadcasts is a new link to upload your broadcasts.
Please note this is only applicable for GPS enabled broadcasts.
Disable sending speed data
On the GPS enable/disable screen there is a new menu item called "Include speed" uncheck so speed data is not recorded.
Check for updates
From the main menu this can now be used to check for and download furture version updates.

Hi,
I have a Touch HD since a couple of weeks now but there are two problems that I can't seem to solve. Maybe there are some smart people that can help me with this. (I tried searching the forum first, but can;t find the answers)
1. I have TomTom7 and Igo8 installed and the first 2 weeks they worked like a charm. Now however I get a GPS fix for a couple of seconds, then after a couple of seconds it's completely gone again for it ony to return again after yet another couple of seconds. This repeats over and over making the apps useless for navigation. I tried a soft reset but it didn't work. Also I have this problem with both TT7 as Igo8 so I think it has something to do with the internal GPS receiver. Anyone any bright ideas??
2. I'm pleased with the performance of the Opera browser but lately I come across more and more sites that don't perform well. In most cases I can't log in or I can't use the search function. Some examples:
- hotmail.com --> SMS tab does retreive my mail but my GF can't log in at her hotmail account when she goes to hotmail.com directly
- NBA.com --> hugh NBA fan but is doesn't show well
- moviemeter.nl --> Dutch IMDB so to speak, can't use search function
- Partybets.com --> like sports betting but can't log in
- hyves.nl --> Dutch facebook, can't log in
Can you guys surf these pages correctly? What can I do to get a better performance out of sites that require login or have search functions or is it impossible to get these working on a WM device??
Thanks really much just for reading this cuz it's somewhat of a long question! Any help is appreciated!
Kind regards
Wow...over 60 reads but noone knows the answers. There goes my hope that these problems were easy to fix

Yes, I had the same issue with the GPS a couple months back, and turning off AGPS should fix your problem. As for opera, no browser is perfect but I would reccomend trying skyfire (it will load anysite always and completely).

Try HD radio 1.13.25.24, tt7 works fine with AGPS using this radio (without starting any other GPS-using program). Cold fix < 5-10 sec
How about changing the settings of Opera.
Try to get to the settings when you opened a opera screen.
Turn OFF the "mobiele weergave" option ("Mobile view" in an english version of Opera).
Then you should enable "Javascript" underneath the advanced tab.
Try things like Hyves and Hotmail again.
Hope that works for ya.
After owning my Jade for 4 months I've just found the GPS Photo feature!
I tried using it and after the GPS receiver switched on, I took a couple of photos. I can't see any difference to the regular pics. I see that a new folder called My POI has been created within My Documents on the SD card and the pictures are there but they are just JPEG files, without any GPS information that I can see. If I open the photo and click Properties it just gives the usual info Size, Date etc.
Am I missing something and how different is this to the Footprint app now available elsewhere on the forum?
Thanks,
Woolly.

Well, try to soft reset and then go to camera, press the touchscreen, choose the camera icon in the middle of the buttom. then a 6 buttons menu comes up, the 3rd one in the 2nd row should me "more" or something like that. and then you you will reach the gps picture option.

Maybe you have another GPS-prog installed? If so, check if the GPS-settings in this program are on "use windows config" or "manual". Would recommend "use windows config", so the settings dont get messed up...
I have taken GPS photos from my Touch HD using a variety of ROMS. First using Dutty's 2.2, then using Miri 6.5 v17 and finally using EnergyROM 3.0.
In each case when I upload my photo to www.gpsvisualizer.com the positioning of photos is not accurate at all. Photos were taken in West London near Heathrow and when positioned on the map they appear near Gravesend outside London about 50 miles East of the actual location.
I have also noticed the same when asking TomTom 7.9 to navigate to a photo I have taken using Touch HD. It gived me directions to gravesend.
When I log to a text file using Visual GPSce, and upload that text file, the location is accurate. Also the GPS works fine when used in Google Maps or TomTom.
Anybody else with similar porblem? Can someone do a test for me by taking a JPG (it goes to the 'My POI' folder under My Documents on the Storage Card by default) and uploading to www.gpsvisualizer.com?
Working fine here. I'm using the official HTC ROM from April. Enabled GPS photo by editing the registry.
Uploaded two photos I took a week ago and they appear on the right place, within few meters of the correct possition.
"Enabled GPS photo by editing the registry."
Got a link/more info on this? I'm a GPS Noob.
Very simple but you have to edit the registry.
go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Camera\P10
and set the value of "Enable" to 1

5 meters is one thing, civilian GPS is intentionally not as accurate as it could be. 50 miles is another thing.
Any chance of trying with the official HTC ROM?. I have not tried cooked ROMs for the blackstone, after 1 year of bad experiences with cooked Kaiser ROMs.
I think the cooked ROMs are reversing East and West. After looking the coordinates on Google Maps, I get:
Heathrow airport: 51.481062, -0.426064
Gravesend, Kent: 51.43325, 0.422287
So the points are interpreted as East of Greenwich instead of West.
Thanks mate I'll give that a go.

Good observation vcespon. Even I was thinking of East/West of Greenwich issue. But did not get think of checking the coordinates. Can more people with Cooked ROMS carry out the test of post results. I do not think that my GPS receiver is faulty as I never have a problem with door-to-door navigation. I am pretty sure that the GPS Photo mode is buggy in HTC Camera. I am using HTC Camera Version 6.16 (Build 33888).

You can also install HD tweak which allows you to have GPSPhoto on incase you dont want to modify the REG

What version of HTC Camera are you using?
hi all,
would anyone be kind enough to explain to me how I can use a gps photo with tomtom please?
Yeah I have version 7.9 something as well and don't have a clue either?
1. make a gps photo
2. its saved under my documents - my poi
3. copy it to GEO-PHOTOS (if you dont have this directory create it in the root of your storage card or device, depends on where your tomtom is installed)
4. start tomtom - navigate to - picture
start tomtom - navigate to - adress - contact

Thanks for your reply....
But unfortunately I'm not getting any luck. I'm using TT 7.9. I've created the GEO-PHOTOS in the root of my card as suggested. copied my geo tagged picture there. But when I go to TomTom: "start tomtom - navigate to - picture", I just don't have the "picture" option at all. No result from browsing to "contacts" either.... mmm... bizarre. Thanks anyway.

You need the latest tomtom 7.9. I think it is build 9196.

Ah... that must be it. Mine is build 7.910.9195... mmm... will have to look for that...
Thanks.
I'm running the HTC TUR 1.61 ROM and have installed BsB Tweaks 1.6 so that I can access the hidden camera modes to use GPS Photo. The GPS Photo mode initializes and works. But when I go to 'Show on map' it puts the latitude as a positive value rather than a negative so that it places the location exactly the same distance the other side of Greenwich that it should be. The longitude is absolutely spot on but the latitude, if it is supposed to be 50 miles west of Greenwich, ends up being 50 miles east of Greenwich!
Is anyone else experiencing this bug using this ROM and tweak combination?
yep mine is inaccurate as well... off by some 500m
GPS Photo Mode - can't see geotag info
I completed the following from the excellent "things you may not have known thread" by tboy2000
14 To enable GPS Photo mode:
Go to HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\P10
set "Enable" to "1"
I have searched to see if I can find what happpens next, I tried taking a few shots normally (not footprints), then with google maps and gps running but in neither case could I see any geotag info when i copied the pictures to picasa which picks up geotagging.
Please could someone tell me what I need to do. I have obviously missed something I Have checked the regedit is still present as ajusted above, thats not the problem, its just how to benifit from the result!
Thanks Simon.
ops, reallly sorry jumping on this thread with this separate question, i meant to post it separately. I will see if any replies then if not will re post. sorry again.

I have a problem with GPS photo latitude too!
Currently I'm on latitude -22degrees 48' 37.03" (south), but when I see ask the photo properties in my Windows desktop, I see for the latitude: -2147483648 degrees 0' 37.03"!
By the way, I should note that -2147483648 = 0x8000.0000.
The longitude is ok!
Anyone else? And more important: how to solve this?
@creed: I didn't understand some points in your post: what program are you using to "show on map"? And latitude is related to the equatorial plane; not Greenwich. So, there's something odd in your message.
@Si607: I wanted to to something similar to you, but using Flickr because I saw in one a reviews that Flickr is more precise in its geotags than Picasaweb. Anyway, if we don't solve this problem first, there's no use to the automatic geotagging at all.
Edit: My ROM version is 1.48 and I used BsB Tweaks too.

Sorry you are quite right. It's my longitude that is out. I used Picasa to display the location. It was very accurate with respect to latitude within 10m.
Hi guys.
I have the same problem, im mi case its longitude value, i have registry tricky (bsb tweaks).
When try to show on map (google maps), gps values on exif data represent wrong position.
GPS Longitude 0.509792 degrees
in the mediterranean sea
Where te real position its:
GPS Longitude -0.509792 degrees
I think the problem is negative values. I have HTC HD2 (rom bsb 3).
Any tip to correct this?
Thanks

I cant find a GPS Photo mode either. Did you ever find out how to get it to work?
You have to chose capture mode on the camera app, chose next screen and then chose the gps photo mode, it will then find your gps and let you take a photo.
I've not tried mine so not sure if mine is accurate or not
the negative value is sooo annoying~
I do not think many people has tried this GPS function... Or maybe there's not many who is in the southern hemisphere and use this function ...

Hi!
I'm in southern hemisphere (see the flag ) and as I said before (post #5), my longitude is ok but the latitude is completely nonsense. Its strange... everybody here seems to have longitude problems, while I have latitude problems.
So I gave up this mode and started using only footprints. It's not as practical nor has as many options as the camera mode, but it does the job.

I m about the -ve value of latitude too, if you use something like EXIFreader, you ll see the lat = -XXX, and south , while in my HTC DIAMOND, there 's no -ve value at all.
I had some GPS pic when I was in northern hemisphere, and they are all good...
if I manually type in the value from the EXIF in google map , without the -ve , it ll spot the correct location....
Temp solution is to use a EXIF editor to pick the -ve value and edit it to a positive value
I find nice solution using freeware GPSToday (Open market), in mi HD2 works very well and geodata is correct now. Software GPSToday have a plugin for auto geotagg photos, you only need activate this plugin, provide in plugin settings DCIM\100MEDIA directory and RUN.
Mine is: \\Storage Card\DCIM\100MEDIA
http://www.geoterrestrial.com/ (GpsToday)
When software adquire satelites ask for create account. You can create and disable later real time localization.
http://www.geoterrestrial.com/geotagger/
When you shot photo, GPSToday launch audible sound to inform you pic was geotagged.
Works great and geotagg photo its correct now.
Using its very easy, launch GPSToday, start adquiring satellite, left bottom corner (initially in red), when satellite status adquiring green color return to windows home and launch photo in normal mode. Voila
Of course, GPSToday have a more interesting tools, totally recomended.
PD: I know, mi English sucks
I heard about that GPStoday before, but it's known to suck up a lot of batterie life
I hope someome will fix the GPS problem!
