AGPS - XPERIA X1 General

Hi. Where can i find the "Advanced Configuration" on the Xperia... a previous thread mentions this. I want to use the AGPS.
Regards,
Joel

Hi Joel,
as I wrote as reply to the other, related thread. They must have talked about a setting in Tom Tom to enable or disable A-GPS.
In general it is always enabled on the X1 - proven in my Mobile Navigator software, where I've a SAT-Fix in seconds.
How long does it take your applicaiton to get a SAT-Fix? If is is below a minute your A-GPS seems to be enabled.
Eric

Yeah i just read it. I do have tom tom nav 7 also however and cannot find the option, but like you said i think it is already enables as when i'm outside it picks it up in about 20 secs.
cheers for the reply.
regards,
Joel

No ... AGPS is not enabled by default. If you search on here for the Advanced Config tool there is a setting there to enable it.
However, it is disabled for a reason... It causes a lot of problems in TomTom. It doesn't make any improvements anyway, so I would avoid. Do a search for AGPS and you will see a post relating to this problem.

GPS Control Panel??

Hello, I've read a few posts that mention a GPS control panel, one in particular gave a registry change to enable it, so I popped into the registry to turn it on, but it was already on.
My question is where is the GPS control panel? I've got TomTom on the way, so would be good if it worked!
I'm running the latest Imate ROM on my Wizard.
Cheers.
start-settings-connections tab.
Sorry, I should have said, 'why isn't it there', not 'where is it', but don't worry, I did a search and found the answer - the first registry tweak I read didn't tell me to delete the 'redirect' DWord. Deleted it and it's appeared.
Can anyone explain why it's not there by default and if it causes any problems by being hidden like this with installing GPS Devices and Navigation software?
Is there anything else hidden that I might want to turn on?
Cheers.
I own a Magician not a Wizard. I also have TT with original TT BT GPS receiver and it worked straight out of the box - no registry tweaks.

because it probably has no use with BT GPS systems. Its there because WM5 natively supports GPS systems that are built into the device, like the HTC Galaxy
Similar to GPS Gate
It's functionality (from what I've read) is supposed to be like "GPS Gate". The idea being you have one GPS receiver connected to your PPC, but you're able to "share" the GPS data with more than one application. I was only able to get it work properly with ONE piece of software (Mapopolis). You do not need it to run TomTom. I'm not sure why it doesn't work with other applications though. If I were you, I would not mess with it.

How to enable Bluetooth/Wifi from Today screen?

Hi folks,
Is it possible to have wifi and bluetooth enabled with a tap from the homescreen instead of having to use stupid comm manager for the wizard? I searched around everywhere in this discussion board, but search came up empty. Forgive me if this question has already been asked.
Many thanks.....
Best way I know to do this is use PhenAlarm (google it), takes up a little today screen real estate but its a great little app.
thanks...
i already have that software (phonealarm) and i managed to find just one skin that suits me (i.e. has bluetooth, wifi, missed calls, voicemail, however its missing the headset icon). anyhow, thank you for the suggestion, i was hoping that was a hack to it. For eg, treo 700w does have a bluetooth toggle icon on the homescreen by default.
see my thread over at hofo.

thank youuuu

hey,
thanks buddy. excatly what i was looking for. now, i just need another switch for wifi, any luck on finding that?
bittermon,
I tried your program and the bluetooth toggle works perfectly. Unfortunately the wifi toggle does not. When i try using the pre-made shortcut, it says "no compatible wifi found." When i make my own icon it doesn't do anything at all.
btw i have the cingular 8102 with the latest official rom. I also have wireless g mode activated. Any ideas?
Thansk.

I asked 'cause I wanted to know if there is a way to enable or disable that feature without reboot the device (on symbian you can switch on/off agps from option in os)
thx

switching from aGPS -> Standalone, and back again

Hello, I've searched up and down trying to find a way to switch from aGPS mode to Standalone GPS mode without doing it all manually in the registry. Is there a way to create a program that will make the regedits? Or is there a program or something out there that does this already?
Around town aGPS is great, but I often go out to the desert to go riding and 9 time out of 10 there is no cell signal out there. When I get to these dead zones, I'd love to be able to switch back to standalone GPS for tracking purposes. And then once, on my way home, it would be great to be able to switch back to the aGPS mode...
Anything out there for this? Is is possible?
Disabling agps is done by changing one key in the registry. It takes like 15 seconds.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\SUPL AGPS\"EnableAGPS"=00000001(1)
change to
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\SUPL AGPS\"EnableAGPS"=00000000(0)
Is that the key that needs to be changed? Thanks!
These are the options I have:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\SUPL AGPS\"EnableAGPS"=dword:00000000]
"ServerIP"="66.174.95.132"
"ServerPort"=dword:000022b8
"EnableGPSSmartMode"=dword:00000001
"QosPerformance"=dword:00000059
"QoSAccuracy"=dword:00000032
"TimeBetweenFixes"=dword:00000001
"NumberFixes"=dword:3b9ac9ff
"GPSMode"=dword:00000002
"EnableAGPS"=dword:00000000
What would I change to go to Standard GPS mode, disabling aGPS mode?
You already have it disabled if EnableAGPS is 0. If you want it on then you need that to be 1.
Is that all I need to to do make it go in stand alone gps mode?
You should be go to go with that being 0. Just try it out and let me know.

Here let me fix someones botched attempt to help. And this is not a "hunch" or speculation, its because I KNOW!
These 3 values need changed to be in Standalone mode. I bet the reason he keeps posting back is because he already tried changing your 1 value and the data connection keeps popping up anyways...
So here are the three keys and their values. This puts the GPS on the phone in Standalone mode. To go back to Agps just restore the 3 settings to the settings underneath. I put those there for you also for reference.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\SUPL AGPS\
Standalone
"EnableGPSSmartMode"=dword:00000000
"GPSMode"=dword:00000001
"EnableAGPS"=dword:00000000
AGPS
"EnableGPSSmartMode"=dword:00000001
"GPSMode"=dword:00000002
"EnableAGPS"=dword:00000001
Please no bantering as this is the exact answer. Enjoy, good luck, and take care.
Edit: And to answer your original question.. There is not a program that can switch back and forth but, a Mortscript can be written to perform such functions.. Search for and Post in the Mortscipt examples accumulation in the Development and Hacking section.

Maybe, but I dont know how to turn it off ?
Hey,
(Thinking it could be daylight saving time).
- I searched on the internet and I found a few things you could try. You could update your device with through this link:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/downloads/microsoft/daylight-savings-update.mspx
- You can try to put daylight saving time off in Outlook through
Tools | Options | Preferences | Calendar Options | Time Zone
(I found this on an old threat on the internet so I am not sure it will work, the link:
http://forum.brighthand.com/showthread.php?t=146800)
But before I continue is it the GPS clock or the whole phone? Did you ever connect the phone with a USB cable to a computer?
Grtz

Yup, its the GPS clock which is shown in several GPS map software I mentioned above. The clock of whole phone is still set correctly
I did try to disable my daylight saving time(DST) by "advance config tool" from xda - developer but its not the solution. >> do you think that GPS signal, its self, contains a time data including DST.
Infact, my local time (+ 7 GMT Bangkok, Hanoi) is not observed by DST but GPS clock still run as if the DST is applied, one hour ahead of local time
Hey,
I really do not have a clue what the problem would be. I thought that GPS just tracked location and not time. Anyway I searched on this forum with the searchkey "GPS TIME". Maybe the following topic is helpfull:

Grtz
Ps. I often update my GPS with the preinstalled ("quickgps")

In Settings from Navi-software. Maybe different in the Navisofts, for instance iGO in sys.txt or in Settings-menu, TomTom only in Settings-menu.

unfortunately, both of my Gps software (Vietmap17, papagox3) dont have setting funtion for this. Hence I have to edit some registry info, dont I ?
Sorry, don´t know both GPS-Apps. Maybe a reg-setting or a config-file.
Can't you try to call the service centre of the GPS software? Even if it is illegal you can try.
