reset the phone
press and hold the two soft keys at the bottom of the screen, (these are the keys above the window button and the ok button. Power on the device while holding the keys and follow instructions.
lewnetoons forgot to add - "kiss all your contacts goodbye if you didn't back them up with a free backup program!!"
Do a search for pimbackup or sprite backup.

Hi - if anyone could help....
I found, and i stress FOUND this phone....looks like it came out of someones window while they were driving....its a bit worse for wear, case is cracked etc etc. But i thought id get a battery for it and it powers up but comes up with the phone lock. There's no name on it and there was no sim in there ( i can only presume it came out when it hit the ground) - is there any way i can unlock it....? thought it would be a nice phone to just mess around with....

To do a hard reset.
Press both soft keys and insert stylus into soft reset button and press.
Release the soft reset button and keep pressing the soft keys.
When the "This operation will delete all your personal data, to manufacturer default" appears on screen.
Press Green call button to restore manufacturer default, or press other keys to cancel.
and the phone is like new..
* you have just hard reset the device..
after that download this USPLcmon and do as i say mate and you can flash any of the p3300 roms to the device and have more fun.lol

* soft reset after 100% to get activesync connection.
- only when the rom update utility window opened on pc..
* uspl cmon rom update utility.
***ONLY after doing uspl is it safe to flash a rom.
* if you have an SD card in the device, take it out..
when you have done uspl on your device startup you will see..

Hey! - sorry, its been ages since ive posted back about this....i posted, forgot all about it - the phone has been sat on my desk at work and i kinda thought, "im never gonna get that working..." but couldnt bring myself to throw it away, remembered about the post and had to use the search option to find it....anyway, it worked, its now reset (back missing, cracked case, no stylus, but it works!) so, many thanks! ill start on the HSPL stuff now....

Finally, and after a lot of web search and tries, i could discover how to make a hard reset of this chinese clon of the pharos.
it was hard for me, cause im newbie, so if someone else needs to hard reset his phone, here is the anser!
1.- enter the "Calibrating..." screen by turning the device on with the call key (green) pressed, u will see a white screen with an image of a screwdriver and a key and the "calibrating..." letters, here u can release the keys.
2.- then press both red and green keys, and without releasing, press the back "reset" button. then release the reset button, and next release the other 2 buttons.
in this step nothing seems to happen, thats why its hard to find this is the right way to hard reset this chinese device.
and thats all, your phone starts normally as the first time!
u also can do a hard reset from the windows settings, but this time my windows hanged up when loading
i also discovered that turning this device ON with the end call key (red) pressed, it enters in a white screen with an icon of a hdd with a green arrow facing down to the hdd with the "downloading..." letters under it.
i think this could be the bootloader for this device, but i dont know how to go beyond this point.
the pc cant install its drivers when i plug the usb (and in normal mode it syncs well with the ActiveSync).
maybe i should put the rom files in the SD card, but i dont know where (in wich folder) or wich files...
SO if someone knows how to flash one of this devices, please tell!!
hope someone find this util, and sorry for explaining it sooo long, english is not my mother talk, so if someone wanna translate this (and explain it shorter) feel free to do it!

I also have a problem with this phone clon HTC P3470. I installed HTCHome 2.1 and since then it is restarting or freezing before I can do anything. And even with yours instructions I can't do hard reset. I think that I am doing something wrong and I beg you if you can provide me a pictures where to push, because I can't make it.

thats the same i tryed to install, and as the htc intructions to hard reset it didnt work for that phone i thougt it was lost.
i think maybe different manufacturers build this phone, so maybe yours have a different key combination to hard reset it.
did you reach any of the "downloaing..." or "calibrating..." screens? or you didnt reach that screens neither?
i will post some pics as soon as possible to help you, but in the meantime, you can search and try different key combinations for different phones, it didnt work for me, but trying and trying i discovered this one.
i found a page with a list of the most common combinations for different phone brands and model, but i dont remember its address, just google it, maybe that helps you!

Unfortunately I didn't get any any of the "downloading..." or "calibrating..." screens. When do I need to do hard reset - phone is off or must be on (windows are loading, after that it freezes and restarts).

story goes like this, it was windows mobile 6.1 in the first place, right after i flash it with some new ROM..it turns into blinking green screen says " Tis operation will delete all your personal data, and reset all settings to manufacturer default. Press action to restore manufacturer default or press other keys to cancel..so i end up pressing the action button....then guess what..?? NOTHING happen... Can somebody plss help me with this...i really3x appreciate ur help....Thank u...

i tried things for months but i found this one guy who had the answer.. what you have to do is. press and hold the SEND and the END buttons, plus get the stylus and push the reset button you should hold it until some restart screen comes up. i hope everything goes good
hard reset is: send and end together and soft reset button
could be potentially a bad flash- try a reflash and see what happens

Soft reset the device and let it boot completely. Once you are in WM, try to use the button and see if it works, as it could be that the button is busted.
Hi all
first post and i got an interesting problem with my phone which i qualify as stupid. It all started when when my virtually keyborad started becoming unresponsive and when i tried to do a factory reset, i could not enter the 1234 number to start it. i left the phone for a while and then i could not get into the setting even . But i could receive calls but i could not call since i could not access any numbers on the dial pad( by pressing on the numbers of coruse but from dial log screen i could)
Anyway long story short while fiddling with the phone , i thought the lock feature was on that is why some of the touch functions was not totally responsive but to my sadness, i activated the lock and now the phone is stuck on the front page and i cannot access anything since i must press unlock at the far corner of the down screen but stupidly, while pressing on the unlock, since it is unresponsive, i cannot unlock the phone to get to the normal menu and so on.The only thing working is the square pad which tells me to press cancel then unlock to free the phone for normal use
By the way the lock feature is the one that blocks the phone so that you do not accidentally press on the touch screen and activate a program and not the lock thing operators put to limit your phone
I want to know if anyone can help me unlock the screen so that i can reset the phone or alternatively any other method via usb to reset my phone to factory settings. Any special buttons on the phone i can do to do that?
I tired leaving battery out for 24 hours but that did not work to unfreeze the touch buttons
Was thinking to reload the windows mobile completely via the micro card (which i read here) but i am not sure it will work or i fear it might brick my phone

Well tried the mobiler but the thing is that it asks the phone to allow the program to conenct and i cannot press yes on the touch screen since it is frozen or something so i am stuck again.
Very strange, it doesn't ask anything on my device...
Why don't you hard reset: press green and red buttons and while pressing, poke the stylus shortly in the reset hole then release the 2 buttons. It will ask something that you probably won't see, just press the action button and wait for it to restart.
Don't flash another on just yet - it may well cause issues as it sounds like your digitizer is broken. Don't hard reset either
Does it pick up anything at all? Have you tried tapping all over the place in that region to try and get a response, sometimes just under the screen also works. Do you use a screen protector? If not, try it with one, if yes, try it without, it may be interferring with it, or it may help the touch be picked up by the phone (Stupid, I know, but this is something I found to work before with my elfs, and omnias)
When it is locked, is activesync picking the phone up? You may be able to put the remote.exe into the windows folder (for myMobilier) and do it that way.
A digitizer costs about £6-£10. But due to the age of this device, as sad as it is, I would suggest trying a new phone out if funds allow for it.
ok so far i tried the hard reset (red button and green and pressed the on off button but nothing. When i press on off button alone it switches off but not hard reset. I did not know i had a reset hole at the bottom of the phone.I did that with red and green button but nothing. Only when i poke the hole alone it does a hard reset i think but when i switches back on it is still unresponsive and locked screen
I tried poking under screen protector nothing. Also i think screen is still responsive because when i tap on it, the screen lights brighter
I tired putting remote exe file on the phone( active sync is working and i can read files on the phone) but i have two remote files..which one to use ? the one that ends with 40 one or 50 .Also where to put it specifically..which folder.I tried my windows mobile based device but nothing.Also tried program files and data application nothing.
Mobiler cannot connect since from pc alone because it asks my phone permission
and i cannot tap yes to accept program.
so any more suggestions please

Maybe I wasn't clear enough, here's the exact procedure, it should work since you have to use only hardware buttons:
Hold down send/reject buttons (green/red at the front) and reset with the stylus; release the stylus but keep holding the buttons till you get 'this will erase all your personal data' message, then press 'action' (big front button) to hard reset.
If Hard reset doesn't work then your device hardware is faulty.
If he hard resets he will liekly not be able to align the screen on initial setup tito12.
Avanisha. If you try to run one of the remote.exe it will say this is not a valid windows application, thats the one that needs to go into windows on your phone.

Hi captainstu72, i was under the impression that he messed up something in his system so a hard reset would hopefully solve the problem. In case he still can't align the screen after HR then he has to replace the digitiser. Mymobiler will not solve anything, pls read the 1st post: he wanted to do a factory reset. He just have to sync before HR.

Phone is working ok now and screen is ok as well as tap function. thank god i don't need a digitizer. thanks to captainstu72 for the help as well .You were right tito..seems i ran a program and then all hell broke on my phone. I wanted to factory reset but as you know the pad was locked.

restoring it to factory defaults is called a hard reset.
it is done by shutting down the device, then pressing vol+, vol- and power at the same time. this will take you to a white screen with blue font, giving you further instructions. in the end, it will reboot and start with the OOBE (out of the box experience), meaning, you get the oportunity to set the time, align the screen...
the important things is: this will format the entire storage partition, the contents of the my documents folder will be deleted, there will be no apps on it, all contacts, sms, emails, appointments, tasks and other pim data will be gone...
so it is greatly advised to backup personal data first, copy documents, photos... to the storage card (which is not affected by a hard reset), back up your pim data using pimbackup or sync it with outlook or ms myphone.
basic things like this are also covered in the first few pages of the manual, which, if missing, can easily be downloaded at htc.com

And the other problem i have is that the power button broke and missing so i have to push it with the pen. I don't know what to do now. I think i must go to an mobile technician.

to hard reset:
1, charge it to at least 50% power and power off
2, hold vol + and vol - buttons
3, hit power button once to power on
4, release vol buttons when you see a tri-color screen
5, follow the instructions to confirm hard reset

The hard reset was successful. My problem is that the screen is "closed" but the phone is still power on! The screen has not light so i cannot see!! And the funny thing is that the display lights after a few seconds and when i try to touch it, it immediately fading again.. How can i solve this problem?
what exactly happened?
the success of the hard reset would show as presenting you with the initial OOBE (as mentioned above). it takes you through a welcome wizard to set up basic things, where you just have to follow the steps shown. in the end windows mobile will boot, maybe customize your device further (by automatic data setup or the installation of carrier specific apps). then there would be a reboot. and from then on, you are to set up all further settings yourself. at what point in this timeline did the problem present itself?
oh, also, for backlight settings, go to start->settings->system->power and go to the 2nd tab, there you can uncheck the automatic backlight adjust and in the 3rd tab, you can extend the time, the backlight is activated.

As i said before the hard reset was successful. I set the "screen align", the time zone and then the screen faded and has no light but the phone was still working. That's my problem. I cannot see the screen to make the changes you say.
Why don't you try to hard reset the device once more. Maybe that will fix the problem. Anyway, I don't think that the process of hard reset was the reason of the problem anyway.
Don't panic and try once more. Nothing to loose.
