Can anyone get their hands on the TouchFLO UI CAB so we can give it a try on the Athena? The functionality was released on the HTC Touch in the UK. Maybe someone can get the CAB off of the HTC Touch and we can give it a try on our Athenas.

Now that is nice. Especially if it worked in landscape on the Athena.
Indeed. Very interesting.
I'll be looking for it too.
HTC's Touch is QVGA....
From what I've read of the specs, the HTC Touch is a QVGA device without 3G!
If the Cube Touch software is anything like the QVGA HTC Audio Manager I've seen, it will look pathetic on the Athena.
IMHO, it needs to be in a VGA device before it's worth considering installing it to the Athena and preferably a device with similar if not same hardware and software features, in order for all things to be accessible through it's interface.
Having said all that, I read somewhere recently that the Advantage comes with HTC Audio Manager (supposedly no better or worse than WMplayer), but at least natively VGA.
The Touch GUI looks great, but I know one thing for sure, if it lives up to the hype and actually allows better and more intuitive navigation through finger-touch, you can bet your bottom dollar that some big software developers like Spb will be on the bandwagon to produce an even better variant of it.
Great for the rest of the PPC community, whether VGA or QVGA.
May be it has something to do with screen build quality as well....I have a feeling that even though if we install all the interface cabs for "multi touch input method", still Athena screen will not be able to support it.
Does it has anything to do with screen build quality?

I want to give it a try. I see your points but am curious about it working and potentially enhancing the UI. From the demo it looked like a nice new toy to have. I'm thinking it's similar to what they did with the iPhone theme where you had the slider lock, etc. If you can at least swap screens and make custom menus using TouchFLO, that would be great. As for the phone it was released on...shame on HTC for putting something like this on such an inferior device ;-)

I don't think so but I could be wrong. For example, the iPhone theme uses slider bars, etc and can be loaded onto the Athena, with a little help of third party software. I hope someone posts the CAB so I can test it out. I'll load it and report my findings if someone can get it.

Gotta agree with you ltxda. I still want to try it too.
i think it would be great. i know there are other softwares that use this interface. so i think ppc is capable but its all about the software limitation.
If were lucky, alan from the HTC Touch post can investigate this for us as he has just acquired such a device.

Bad news so far...
This is what Paul of Modaco has reported so far;
"Random Touch trivia after spending some time today 'digging around'...
- The screen has it’s own new driver version (touch.dll). This means the TouchFLO interface won’t port to other devices. In fact, I tried it - just to be sure - by installing the driver on my Trinity, and the touchscreen stopped working ohmy.gif
- The fancy today screen plugin is just that, and would be easy for HTC to drop onto any device.
- Out of the box I feel the sensitivity of the screen is a little lacking (it occasionally misses clicks or taps from my finger or stylus), however this seems to be configurable in the registry – watch this space
- The Touch has a new version of HTC’s ‘Task Manager’ (close button) application, a new Camera application, and a very nifty network wizard for setting up GPRS settings. These settings are held on the device in a passworded ZIP file!
- NO PHONE PAD T9 ON THE TOUCH! What the hell were they thinking? I had a good moan to our HTC about it, and demo’d what Phone Pad would be like on the Touch... wink.gif
- When you boot the device, it does the email config (you know, the one that connects to the server to get settings?) and then the config of the data connection. Duh! Wrong order!
- All the IR drivers etc. are in ROM despite their being no IR port!
- The fancy UI takes up a lot of memory
- Audio Manager, Comm Manager and the Phone Dialler are all grey-skinned to match the homescreen UI. It looks real nice biggrin.gif

Not looking good at the mo, but let's not give up hope.

If he wants, have him give us the passworded ZIP file. I'll try to crack it.
I guess we'll have to have someone take a look at the dll mentioned above and see what can be done about that...if there is enough interest.
Maybe we could at least have the today plugin? That looks pretty sweet.
Touch.DLL
I Have a T-Mobile Wing, and I have the Touch.dll file in \Windows . . . (Touch.dll 26.9k 3/21/07 21:21.04)
It came that way, does that mean that TouchFlo may work on my device?

Well see, we're not trying to recreate the interface, we're trying to get the actual app from the actual source and see if it works. Please try to contribute to the thread instead of making ambiguous statements!

Just maybe, you never know. I can't remember which post I read, but I do recall it mentioning that the the screen is a new techology and another report that that would not make it a standard WM6 device (I remember now, a discussion at 4winmobile.com about the HTC Touch etc..). Anyway, that makes sense + fellow member neilm also went on to mention that a lot of current WM5 & WM6 wouldn't work on it as it wasn't written with this type of multi-touch screen in mind.
Fair point I think and follows the logik that HTC haven't built a WM6 device that is incompatible with software written for its O/S. No it's more likely that that .dll is all the software needed to make that plug-in (shell or whatever) interface with any WM touch screen.
So, WarezApps, if you have the .dll by default, it could mean that your device is capable of running the plug-in with the screen driver you seem to have, as they may have considered selling it as a default app within your device, but possibly recognized the potential to knock out another new device (for more money), which will appeal to some people just for this particular touch interface!
I think it will work with that Touch.dll screen driver.
Can you upload your file for us all to share and examine.
Anyway bottom line: I think it's all about transferable software now and just want to try it for myself to see.
http://www.htcspain.com/foro-f73/rom-cruise-xuo-x-2-rev2-con-manila-control-25-t12849.html
The most important thing is "manila control": you can choose between manila2d and real htc home (no 2ndtoday etc) with finger movement as if it was the cube. it starts with htc home and once manila2d has started it keeps in memory (unless u close the app)
I just put this information and not the rom as I havent asked for permission
Installed
Works great, hope they release it as a cab so we can incorporate that on other roms
Only spanish bro ???
Very nice
very cool....
wwe version would be nice!

it´an animated gif but ..cannot post it so it can be seen animated..
go to developers page to see it in action
The best rom i've tried (for my needs). I use it for over a week. Shurely a worth alternative to the roms found here on xda-devs. The greatest difference to the roms here (with M2D - amine, syrius, khanX, ..) is (in my eyes) that the xuo X-2 starts with a free program memory of 101,46MB. After booting (and after starting some apps like s2u2, WkTask) i have 61MB free - with manila2d on the homescreen. This is great, in comparision to other roms. I have to say that I didn't try such a rom named above, because of the few amount of free ram. Previously I've used different roms from swtos, but there were ever small problems together with the apps I use.
Rom version is 5.2.20721 1.4.0.
Sorry for my english..
Hello friends, I present to you an application that many are expecting, "Manila Control" also known as M3D control or M2D Control.
It's a simple program that allows us to switch between 2D or 3D Manila and the "Today" of Windows. Allows you to set our screen "Today" with our favorite plugins and Manila also used simultaneously.
Installation:
- Copy the cab to the terminal and install
- Use within MC Config Start - Programs - MC
- Tap set menu choose your Manila 2D or 3D and whether those who want to start after reboot.
- To end tap menu - SoftReset
Description:
- The application allows the use of today's windows and 2D/3D Manila.
- To exchange desk, is from Left softkey, but it hardbutoon can assign a, a FTouchFlo and in some models a gesture of activation of the cube. (There's configure it manually).
- The application does not interpret gestures.
- Close to leave Manila for more available RAM (Right SoftKey).
- Manila You can start at boot or not.
- Eliminates Manila from the list of items today.
- Some entries may appear in Spanish if you do not use a ROM WEE.
- The application does not stay resident in memory so it does not consume RAM.
Is a free, but voluntary donations are welcome.
You can use to include it in your ROMs, only respects to the author.
Mirrors do not, if you want to write something on the application or on your Web forum, put a link to this thread on XDA-Developers.com or the corresponding HTCSpain.com, so users can always have easy access to changes and updates.
The application is not OpenSource therefore not permitted any change in any component or part of it without explicit authorization.
Download the file has been fattened to 5Mb just to get points den rapidshare, the cab is really just about 100kb. For users who have problems with Rapid, I create another smaller mirror, but if you can please use the download of 5MB as I provide Rapid points.
Thanks to my friends to do the tests: Franlov (Diamond and Omnia), Xuo (Polaris), JCespi2005 (Touch Pro) and I have tested in Niki, Elf and Prophet.
Download RAPIDSHARE
Some videos running on a Diamond, Touch Pro and Phophet.
Touch Pro by Jcespi2005: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_e3R65bq00
Diamond by Franlov: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oF0m72sGQvY
Prophet by MastSogo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2MXSU1TH5LI
The Spanish speakers are lucky that is already built into ROM in Spanish for Prophet, Niki, Elf / Elfin, Polaris and Touch Pro. And in the very near to Herald, Kaiser and Diamond.
TO DO (For next versions):
- Traslate error test to english.
- Add options to set activation mode.
- Add force show Modes.
- Add option for close manila mode, to reelase RAM (but will be slow)
- Release more RAM when close Manila3D.
- More traslations for othes.
....
Mirror, (pass htcspain.com) only if have problems with rapid.

Hey man,
that is a really great idea!!!
Could you add a function, that it TF3D in QVGA is enabled, that there is a function like the auto standby in windows mobile.
Cause there is the standby issue with ported TF3D on some devices. I thought about something like this:
If TF3D enabled and no user action is recognized for time x
then disable tf3d and go to standby.
At wake up reenable TF3D.
That would be great and it would make TF3D on my kaiser ready for every day use
If you need someone for testing, just PM me.
i hop sleep mo d fixes and start menu problems w

Exactly! On Kaisers with TF3D when we hit the power button maybe that generates a Mortscript to switch to HTC Home then sleep, as the issue (I think) is with TF3D gaining focus of all windows.
Although I have heard also that this is not the case and its the OpenGL drivers themselves that does not allow the device to sleep.
Looks great.
Let's wait
Hi there!
I have decided that I need something more business oriented for my diamond's today screen, so I am using Manilla control to work with pocket breeze (in order to get best of both worlds). Now what I need is a plugin which works well on my diamond, pocket breeze and manilla control and gives you time, missed calls and smss. I have tried to install the HTC Home plugin but i had to hard reset the phone ... since it did not want to get past startup! Thats why I decided to ask this time...
I m sure you have plenty of options and ideas ... maybe you could post a screenshot too of the application you propose...
Thanks,
Franklin
I'm in the same situation as you, I don't think you'll find a solution to directly integrate PB into TF3D. You'll have to change to another user interface that supports 3rd party plugins eg. Wisbar AD and a few others.
It's a shame HTC didn't include 3rd party plugin support in the new TF3D 2.
Yeah
Yesss... I know that you can't use both ... what I am asking is what plugin (3rd part) is compatible with manilla controller (used to switch between touchflo and today screen) and pocket breeze to add some phone info!
You mentioned on program there ..are there anyother ones worth mentioning? I wanted a HTC Home Plugin sort of effect (missed calls, sms and a clock)
Thanks for any replys.
Well for notifications, missed calls, SMS, Emails etc I use PhoneAlarm by PocketMAX, the latest version has many different types of skins etc and itself is a fairly powerful program.

very true matey ... it would be awesome if someone can port the apps to htc touch hd ....
How about the skinned file manager, and midomi?
im having an issue finding the ROM bbut there are people over here who already have the omnia 2 would someone post instructions on how to dump the installed rom so they upload it for us.
there is a lot of thing to like about their customized software
I would love to see some of these application on my Touch Diamond. The skinned file manager, and Touch player especially!
I would probably kill for the task manager...thats what I've been craving for months now. Also the SMS and Email app is a must have. Don't want the phone..just the software
The resolution is different, so it's very hard to port these apps to Omnia I
I've watched PocketNow's Youtube i8000 software tour and it is simply incredible. I've heard quite a bit of negative things about the Omnia II i8000, but the software tour provided by PocketNow really made it shine.
The interface was very fast (in some cases, as fast as the custom ROMs available on XDA) and the available software was simply unreal. The video editor and cube were particularly nice, but I believe Samsung also got the first Windows Mobile version of Midomi ever making it that much better.
I can't wait for the QWERTY Samsung B7610 to finally come out.

Has anyone tried these on the Diamond?
Update: Tried TCalendar and Phonebook. TCalendar seems to work at first glance looks really nice, however, I cannot add any appointments or anything and the menu softkey makes the screen go crazy. Phonebook just gives me a a black screen with only the keyboard button in the down right corner.
Need Midomi..
Downloaded and tried Tcalender. ..
It worked as u can see in the pic, but it fails to creat new appointment or to access the menu soft key ??? apart from the first home screen nothing else is working.
Edit: I have Xperia X1i, Official R3AA UK ROM
Tested the TCalendar on the HTC Touch Diamond 2 (Topaz) with the Custom ROM Topaz Essentials
Viewing of the Calendar works fine (although quite slow) - but opening the menu or adding a new entry does not work
Oh.Can't dl from mediafire
who can upload to rapidshare for a mirror?
Only need the Part02 Disk1 dump files(part1.rar part2.rar part3.rar)
thanks very much!!!
I just want to search into the dump folder for any other files needed to load the apps!
Just a quick update from a Touch HD running pkoper's EPS HDX WM6.1 ROM:
- TCalendar: starts, shows appointments (in all views), looking good. Navigating to dates works. Menus, however, don't work properly. And it's all in Hungarian.
- TClock: doesn't start ("components not found").
