O2 have a phone listed for the begining of Nov called the XDA Flint. I wonder if that is the HD?
A very good question.
The only place I've seen a reference to this is on O2's customer forum. Google brings up that thread and now this one. I'm not sure where the name comes from, but I doubt O2 would be releasing the HD so close to HTC's general availability date. Plus I believe that O2 delayed the release of the Touch Pro because they didn't want it to (or were told it shouldn't) go directly up against the iPhone so it's even more unlikely that they will sell the HD any time soon. Of course I know nothing and could be way off the mark - I'm simply speculating.
I very much doubt its the HD, its to similar to the Iphone for one and secondly, O2 have a track record of taking months to get there branded versions out.
So, looking at possible releases in the past few months from HTC we have
HTC S740 ( a long shot has it will only have been out a few weeks)
Touch Viva (maybe a cheap alternative? doubt it tho, Diamond would be a better choice or its cheaper cousin the Zest)
Touch 3G (not even sure its released yet, marginal in terms of diffrences to the Zest, perhaps faster)
Touch HD (no hardware available yet to soon in my opinion)
or a device from an alternative provider, this is more likely since i dont think anything else fits the bill, the XDA Zest is like the viva and 3G combined so i really dont know what the hell it is, ive not found any third party evidance to support the Name "Flint" so it could equally be a load of rubbish
XDA Serra
There may or may not be an XDA Serra released in early November, I couldn't say. It is HTC based and has a keyboard.
The following is true
XDA Serra = Touch Pro
XDA Zest = Asus Glaxy7 (Crystal)
XDA Flint = ??? (could well be a candy bar phone)
In Germany, O2 will release it unbranded as HTC Touch HD. So I doubt that the XDA Flint is the HD.
you have confirmation that O2 is releasing the Touch HD in Germany?
The Serra will be released by O2 anytime between now and the first week of November, and as already mentioned it is the Touch Pro.

Yes, I asked today at the O2-Hotline for the Releasedate. They said that it would be probably released in calendar week 47.
intresting, cheers for the update!
The XDA Flint is apparently this: http://www.htc.com/www/product.aspx?id=436

Anything that is rumored to happen?
I have read around that it will be on at&t around January, December for the Christmas holidays to kick off something big.
at&t will not release this. It will not compromise its status with the biggest marketable american phone (IPHONE). Apple will put a kabosh on this real Iphone killer known as The Touch HD. Sprint will most likely try to get it to put itself on the map. But why would ATT jeopordize its exclusive status. IDK of course I may be wrong. My 2 cents tho.

Rumour: Android on Touch HD
http://www.areamobile.de/news/9999.html
wohooo... Touch HD with 2 OS....
Would be very nice if you can decide if WinMo or Android...
or better: just try whats fits better to your needs...
In the US the HD will be stalled and it is likely that they will wait for the Android version to be released there. In other words, the regular HD will not make it to the US, but some time later the Android HD might. It will most likely not be dual boot, but I'm sure someone on this forum will find a way to make that work, if the hardware remains the same.
Hello guyz.. just stumbled across this on a site that I usually visit. Thought I would share this with you and get your comments...

that was gonna be my next post.. ahhaha
but yet again.. i want multi touch and HARD screen on my next phone
yeh, those three look very sleek and hot!!
Fonk ! I know for most of us here it's not a deal breaker however as far as I can see there is not A SINGLE one with a decent camera w flash !!!
It's a shame !
It might turn out that next gen OMNIAs (when they leak ) will be better !
WOW, great find! It looks like its going to be a good year if all these do make it to final versions.
Am I seeing things or do the Topaz and Rhodium have AT&T written in parenthesis!? Man, I sure hope AT&T gets these devices and hopefully by summer, might just have to wait off on upgrading to the Fuze when my time comes in the next 5/6 months if this is true!
Rhodium will be the such expected HD Touch Pro!!
I can´t wait to have it!!
haha i just got on xda to post this, but i've been beaten to it. I think it's odd that they only have a keyboard version coming to the US, but no plain HD version. Hopefully that will change and maybe i'll change over to a 3g version of the HD.

Finally some good news for you bro! U've been waiting on a HD w/keyboard for months
I'm like'n that whitestone so far!
If they are still rocking resistive screens on the higher-end models I am not going to be a happy camper.
And seriously where is the flash? These geniuses are going to have 14 megapixel cameras without flash... lolz.
*crys... I went with the touch pro and paid near full price simply because i wanted a keyboard... Now it looks like they are bringing out a HD with keyboard.... *WAAhhhhhh!

Neither will I. I won't buy another HTC model with a resistive screen. Sorry guys, the capacitive screen is so much better...
personally i don't mind the resistive screen at all, especially since now they are 95%+ as responsive as the capacitive. Not to mention i like the ability of using my phone with gloves on (cold days suk)

Here's a comment on this page left by an Anonymous poster:
Quite simple, the Iolite, everybody knows what model is (a Touch Pro,without keyboard and less scrrem resolution and style XD),The Mapple (3G T-Mobile Excalibur) and the Twin (GSM+EVDO version of the Iolite) too,Topaz it´s a Touch Diamond with a bigger, higher (I guess) resolution display and an AT&T version, the Citrine and the Topaz C are the Touch Dual versions of the Topaz (the C is a T-Mobile version),Rodium it's a evolution of the HTC Wing with a Verizon edition (Rhodium W) and the Tungsten it's the T-Mobile version (also in US) of the Rhodium and the Tungsten W,the Sprint one,the Willow W its the Sprint mensager and the Cedar W,the GSM version of the Willow W,Beryl it's the evolution of the Touch 3G and not the Touch HD,Firestone it's the Touch Max with LTE and not Wimax (I recognize the style and the low white triangle symbol XD),Whitestone W is an evolution of the Touch HD (Blackstone) with high multimedia features like TV and a stand, the Thoth is the Athena evolution now with the magnetic keyboard of the X7510 and maybe it's only by T-Mobile,Magnetic is the Iolite evolution,I have some bad news about new Android phone G2 (Sapphire),first it will come to Vodafone, then to DoCoMo,and so then in it's 2.0 version to a free-SIM version,Jasper C it's another menager from Sprint asa TyTn II evolution in CDMA,Hero is the more colorful evolution of the G1 (maybe only the colors) and Memphis is the GSM/3G version of the Japer C as an evolution of the TyTn II! I hope this being helpfull!

So Whitestone might be the replacement for Blackstone (with a stand. possible tv-out? or even digital tv built in), obvious really when you look at the names. The Rhodium doesn't appear to be the Touch HD pro, probably a Xperia type device with 3.2" display and keyboard.

I know.. as soon as I saw this on the site, I could not resist and wanted to share with you all immediately. Its so exiting seeing so many models. Hope most of them will come with captitave screens with WM 6.5 Since WM 7 is delayed forever.
Hmmmm, the future is HTC!
There are no details about screen, OS etc is there?
Some sleak design there, going to be an interesting year for smart phones. Will they make less because of the Global economy or will they make more to stimulate spending?
HTC are on it we just need an OS for the future.
Nice post!!
when i asked the premium reseller in my country about a free upgrade to wm6.5 expexted for htc hd he told me that it is not final that hd will not get it he told me that htc told him that they haven't decided yet and he will know in november if there will be an upgrade or not

I'd be extremely surprised if they were to offer this after they said they wouldn't. It would be a welcomed change from their part, but I have my reservations about this............
If they really would release it, then only after some time selling the most recent devices which will come with WM6.5. Would be very nice from HTC side, but i think they won´t.

htc made a thing like this before for the tytnII it upgraded it to wm6.1 after the td and touchpro are sold enough
i really hope they do. in a way, the official 6.1 upgrade gave my touch dual a new lease of life.

Precisely what a phone manufacturer doesn't want.
which is why HTC dosent let anyone flash whatever they want. its just a minority of users that come to this site and learn how to bypass CID etc.
6.1 was released for the touch dual because it went on sale in certain markets quite a while after the original 6.0 device was released.
so, fingers crossed, there are markets where the HD is still selling decently well, and HTC isnt bringing the Leo out anytime soon. It's this kind of scenario that will result in us seeing a (official) rom upgrade
i got kind of sick of using cooked 6.5 roms since they dont approach the stability of an official upgrade, which is unfortunate, but i cant tolerate that for my main phone. maybe after i get a replacement for my HD, i'll play around with upgrading it. much like what i do with my Universal after i got my touch dual. I dont use it as my critical business phone, so had fun tinkering with it!
i think everyone with an HD, that are not part of this comunity, a simply google search of: windows mobile 6.5 on touch hd, most pages that you get will have a link to xda-devs, so i hope HTC will realize that by them not giving the upgrade wont stop people from flashing it to their HD, thus better if they save all that hassle and just give the damn upgrade already
I own a Blackstone because last year our company's IT department did not certify other OS than Windows Mobile which will change soon (as Apple and Android move closer to a better MS Exchange connection).
I clearly expect from a mobile device manufacturer to keep their devices including the OS on the latrst and most current level at least for the usual time people use such devices (i.e. 2 years after purchase, if connected to a mobile provider contract). As far as I know, in many companies thie cycle is used even if there is no such connection to a provider.
To me, a company is not trustworthy that advertises the Touch HD as its "top level" device and one month later says that they will no longer support this device. It is RIDICULOUS that HTC did not even offer a ROM upgrade including the latest Manila 2.0/2.1, and this during a time period where the Touch HD was and still is an outstanding device.
Apple, by the way, offers free or cheap upgrades for their iphones which make it possible to run the latest version on the first iphones that had bveen manufactured. This does not prevent customers from buying more iPhones than aver. And I am convinced that if HTC would offer upgrades to the latest WM version or Manila version for existing devices, this would not drop sales significantly. Not offering upgrades is a fair swindle.
I am well aware that many people here stand close behind HTC and understand and tolerate the behaviour and business model of HTC much better than I do. I am using HTC devices for 5 years now and if we had not xda-developers, I would not even think of touching a HTC device again. I would certainly not buy one.
Cheers,
Eriol

You mean, the quality of Apple's phones is to be compared to the intelligence of HTC customers?
No, honestly: I understand that you are in favour of the business strategy of HTC. But I cannot really understand this. I think that customers should put much more pressure on HTC. I, for instance, will not buy a new device every year. I will get one every two years. And I know quite a lot of other people who act the same way. I am aware that especially amongst the cookers and Chief's here at xda-developers, there are quite some that are really technic-freaks and always try to get hands on the latest device available. It is not their obligation to create ROMs for older models. But I think that it is definitely an obligation of HTC to do so. Especially because HTC devices are in fact technically speaking astonishing (if I look at my old Wizard and see how fast it runs TF2D ...).

a new android device has just come out called the HTC Wildfire http://www.htc.com/uk/product/wildfire/overview.html
the design sort of looks like a desire with a few nexus one buttons.
well theres no forum for it yet so.... an administrator could make one so people that get one can use xda to tweak it.
Thanks
Its not even released yet, so I'm betting xda can wait a while. To me it seems like a hero in a different case
Yup but it is releasing soon.
hTC Wildfire Official Release Date is June 14th 2010 at T-Mobile, UK.
And it will cost about $200
I m also eagerly waiting for this device.
Had a play with a prototype last week. It had a trackball but the shipped version will have an optical track pad like the Desire.
I quite like the unibody constuction on the Legend but this means you could plug in an extended battery as you're not constained by the size of the case.
Phone looks pretty nice was thinkin about gettin it or the mytouch slide
Hello.
HTC promised upgrade to Froyo for Legend before the end of October, but it is now November and still no update.
On Italian Android Forum, owners of this phone are rightly angry, and decided to protest strongly on the htc facebook page. So I also invite you to protest, so that the protest is larger and HTC should listen.
The page is
http://www.facebook.com/HTC
You can write what you want, like "Froyo on legend!" or "Htc sucks, we want Froyo!".
Had a quick look at the page and you're right, there do seen to be a fair amount of people shouting for the Legends long overdue FroYo but I'm doubtful how much attention HTC will pay given the phones they've just release and the upcoming handsets.
That said I'll still be adding my name to the list. Otherwise its back to custom ROMs for me

I do not know if HTC will listen to our messages on his page, write once a day, "We want legend" does not cost anything.
Htc page is now full of messages like that, so we continue to write.
How often does HTC check their Facebook page lol..

Why does HTC Suck? Because they are ensuring Froyo on Legend is done properly? That's a very strange concept, as those same users will be the first to complain if it arrived broken.

They should've ensured this update to be released as sheduled. 3 months passed since desire got 2.2, legend update was sheduled at Q3 those days. September aka Q3 passes, htc says we'll have update by the end of october etc. etc. Seems like they hired some bull to regularly defecate on update's status
What i mean is: it must've arrived months ago, w/o any bugs

Well, they have ensured that quite swiftly for other phones. How come the Legend is the most difficult?
HTC Lies every day because the Gratia´s port to Legend woks fine, the only issue are the drivers.
i don´t like update delay, but i really hate liars!!!
Okay I'll add my name on the list... let's see....

Whilst the Froyo update has been promised and HTC seem to be making Legend owners wait some time for it, they are letting themselves down even more by not even fixing the SMS bug problem which deserved an immediate patch as it is a broken feature.
Have a feeling...
I just have a feeling that HTC just wanna grab the opportunity to sell a 'metal' desire phone to the consumers first.
It seems peculiar that as much as HTC claimed low stocks of AMOLED, a sudden black phantom of the legend popped out of nowhere...
hence, it is possible that the legend was delayed because:
a) it will be given HD recording... Possible, but unlikely. I think i've read somewhere that the specs for the camera is similar to the desire. This could be a reason htc wanted to hold back the market for consumers to get a metal desire (and thus earn more instead of a legend)
b) people are craving for metal phones. The Legend sold well. In my country, all exclusive providers sold out the legend. (and it went to sell on 3 major telcos). this might be the reason why HTC wanted people to start picking up the HD and Z version of the desire.
c) they might try the new htc sense on the legend. Who knows? I'm not sure, but i think the gratia has no new sense... (i could be wrong on this).
Whatever it is, the legend was pretty much the litmus test that htc needed before manufacturing metal phones. Reason being was that the original desire DID NOT HAVE a metal casing. Why? The desire is HTC's flagship! And possibly, the legend has been overshadowing the desire quite a bit, and making it more likely that they might just want to put the metal switch to desire before bumping the legend. If the bump the legend now, people might just pick up more legends instead of waiting for the Desire hd and z...
Whatever it is, the desire hd and z has been launched... I expect froyo to come to the legend within a week or 2 after that...
For it to FOTA the legend to froyo before the new desires reaches all corners of the world is VERY UNLIKELY...
I honestly do not believe this.. i recon HTC is just interested in selling more phones and while doing that they devoloped loads on new products and tossed the legends development department staff along with the rest of the desire crew. and now that they are selling well they eventualy will pickup (when time allows) to continue the 2.2 little by little.
Never buy a mid range phone from HTC.
The history repeats. First circus with HTC Hero and now with Legend.
our protests have taken effect and HTC said that the update is imminent.
but they repeatedly said the same thing, and then continue to write.
Holy ****, it worked...

There is a difference between releasing an update which updates existing OS's and installing a rooted ported OS from scratch. HTC have said they are having trouble with the Market after installing the update, much like the issues the Desire had.
Personally I'm quite happy to wait for a polished product imagine how much more you'd moan if they released it with loads of bugs
