I had a hard time with this too. turned out to be an issue with the ROM I was using... here's how it should work, if you have any issues I can help you on msn just add me pete(at)peteandsteph(dot)ca
1) browse the phone from the mac, it should discover a "network access point" when it browses the phone. make sure that's ticked, you can remove the other checkmark for use the phone as a modem.
2) click the bluetooth icon at the top right of your screen on the mac, scroll down to your phone, go over to "connect to network".
3) on the phone open internet connection sharing, choose bluetooth PAN as the method, then click connect.
4) surf the net from the mac.
*note, you can connect ICS before or after you connect to the phone from the Mac, it makes no difference.
thanks evader, but thats the opposite of what im looking for...i want to get internet on my phone using the internet from my mac, i do not have the data plan so i would like to make it work by having the bluetooth on my mac supply the internet...
im gunna install bootcamp and cuz im pretty sure i can get it to work the activesync because it will connect them for you...
I dont believe this works with the Touch, I know I got it to work with the Mogul
oh sorry, I used to do that with my treo 650 through missing sync. Might be worth looking into.

I've been banging my head against the wall trying to get this to work, I was able to get the Smartphone version to work on my Dash but I cannot seem to get the PPC version to connect on the Wing.
I have the software installed on the Wing and BBconnect for AS installed on the PC.
When AS is running I can see the connect button on the BB interface but I beleive that I need to dissable AS in order to generate an encryption key.
I remember there was a way to do it with the Dash but that was several months ago and I cannot remember how to do it.
This is where I am stuck, I've searched the web but haven't found the answer. Can anyone here help?
So does BB Connect not work on the Wing/Herald?
Any update on this?
No updates, I can't get it to work, it apears to be installed properly on the phone but I cannot make the initial connection between the computer and handset because you need to disable AS.
Well, I am on a T-Mo BIS and cant get it working. I had it working fine on the Dash. No luck on the Wing though. I am surprised that nobody is using BB Connect with a Wing.
No?

No it won't run on OS X. I use a Macbook with mine using Missing Sync which works very well for getting your contacts and calendars on the device. Everything else I put on manually or if desperate run VMWare windows emulation and activesync.
Missing Sync is here http://www.markspace.com/.
Hope that helps.
And if there is an .exe file you can run windows on your mac just to run those files (if you cant find the cab).
The best way to sync your HD with Mac is using exchange. You can goto mail2web to get a free account there and follow the instructions there to setup your Active Sync. I am now auto sync with Entourage all the time and it is free
I use syncmate. Works great for me http://mac.eltima.com/sync-mac.html
Says you only get a 30 day free trial on that site (mail2web) for hook up. $14.95 a month, or did i miss something (i hope)
Guys what do you do with .exe files? How do you install them?
Go back to the site and get a cab, or google for one, when you (someone on Windows) installs the program the cab can be copied and kept. Some kind souls post these where Google can find them.

I can see your point!
i have a question....am considering a Macbook Pro, deal breaker would be if Internet Sharing on Touch HD didn't work on the Macbook, i want Macbook for travel and need THD to provide the internet access
so, does it work?
You can set up a portion of your mac to run windows.
you mean dual boot or what? and that's a no on OSX Internet Sharing?
damn
I haven't tried this myself as I haven't needed to run windows but you can try this, its free...

that looks like a messy work around for a very basic thing :/ i'll rather go with Vaio SR then and avoid having to install guest OS just to get online :/
but if someone could tell me what happens when they plug in Touch HD into a Macbook and press Internet Sharing Connect it would be kinda helpful

I don't think it should be a problem at all as long as you set up on the Macbook and HD. I can't try it because I don't use dial up any more. These are the set up dialogues you get when you select Internet Sharing after plugging in USB to the Macbook.
same as on pc, next step is to press that connect at the bottom and laptop should connect to net via TouchHD....it's not dial-up, it's using your 3G data package for net on laptop
on pc i plug it in, get that dialog, press connect and it says "checking usb connection" and then "connected", laptop network icon says "Network: Internet Access" :/

That's exactly what I do: I have a MacBook Pro with Boot Camp and in the second partition I installed WIndows XP just to do what I can't with OS X.

Ok yes sorry I don't have a sim card in Blackstone. This is what I got using Diamond 2. I couldn't find the settings on the Mac to connect though. It is time consuming at the moment so will look at it later. I am sure it will work.
Yes it does work and have made connection. You must use Bluetooth and connect to the device from computer first then connect to Internet Sharing. Finding the settings and connecting is a bit fiddly on the computer but it does definitely work. USB does not seem to work at all. Let me know if you need anything else.
no, that was all i needed to know, thanks if BT connection works, it'll do, and it gives me hope i'll be able to convince it to use usb as well
Macbook is supposed to be my second/travel toy, so net access is the only HTC related thing i need....i'm sure i could flash from it if i wanted to, and i don't use WMDC or Activesync anyway so i won't miss that, MS MyPhone is net based and practical :/
Hi guys,
Been looking around all day for a fix for this. I thought it was just a setting issue so have been try all kinds of setups from what vodaphone have on their website to what i have googled and still have the issue.
I can get on to the internet after a reboot but after a while it will lose connection and i will get two arrows one left and one right on top of each other instead of the normal "G" icon. As so as this happens i lose all connection to the internet and cannot get back on unless i reboot the phone a few times then the "G" icon comes back and the internet is back up and running.
Its my only grip so far with this phone everything else is great.
Any ideas
Damo
wierd. that sounds like the activesync icon...You're not connected to your PC via cable/bluetooth are you?
Stupid question I know, but best to get it out of the way.

oh my god i am such a noob, i did not know that when the usb connection is connected the interenetconnection stopped......hang is that right, should it still not connect to the internet?
Thanks
Damian
When you plug it into the PC, it will try and use the PC's internet connection.
On the PC, open activesync and go to file, connection settings.
Make sure that the option called This computer connects to is set to the internet.
Also, tick the box marked Allow wireless connections... then it should be able to connect while plugged in.
If you have vista and WMDC, these options should still be around, but as i have avoided vista like the plague, i can't tell you where they are cos i simply don't know.
I've had this problem before but I forgot how to fix it
My internet went out about three hours ago so I'm posting from my phone. I'd really like urgent help as I have a job over the internet and I can't do it as long as my computer doesn't have internet.
When I use WMWifirouter with Windows 7, it seems to connect but it eventually shows the yellow triangle warning sign with the message "no internet access" next to the network name. I used to have this working both as a Wifi receiver and a 3g adapter, but one day it just stopped working. I really, really need help tethering my phone ASAP
If you need any other info just ask
Urgent??
You came to ask if someone would help you install an app designed for Windows Phone 6.5 onto an operating system that has no official apps and is not even released yet, and that you hacked onto your phone.
Would you like sugar with that? One lump or two?
If I find anything useful, I'll post it, lol.
What the hell are you talking about? Windows 7 is out and I see people using it on laptops at school. Also, I'm running the application on my phone and connecting it to my computer via USB. Make sure you know what you're talking about before you reply
I have my internet back, but I'd still like to know how to do this since this most likely will happen again

You're thinking he's running Windows Phone 7...he's referring to Windows 7...on his laptop.
doh
Reading is fundamental, my apolgies
Hi, I have the same problem, i am trying to get internet connection on my windows 7 laptop in work usink ICS and/or trial wmrwifirouter. Both ways, i get connection, either to wi-fi or usb, end also to 3G network on phone, but connection icon displays yellow triangle warning no internet access.
- in my next step i ran it on my virtual windows xp machine - the same thing
- I also noticed that pinging google.com resolved IP address, but requests timed out
Ok, so I turned off the data connections (well, deleted the connections really). I have my HD2 hooked up to active sync at the moment, and I was wanting to check something online with my phone. Well, right as I clicked go, I thought about just deleting the connections (jackass, you can't connect anymore). It went through anyway.
Did I not delete all of my connections for data (I checked, cannot see them anymore), or do I get internet access through my cable?
Edit:
I have the left/right pointing arrows at the top.
The only connection I have left is for MMS server....could I be connecting through this?
it will use your pc connection when active synced.that's why WiFi gets grayed out.
Well that is freakin sweet. I don't think I have had a phone that would do that before.

Yes, nearlly all previous versions of PPC can do it. Before PPCs became phones and have internet access of their own.
However it seems that if your PC is using a proxy, WM will get confused.
