I was wondering if I am running a VGA or QVGA game on a WVGA device (e.g. HTC Touch HD). What will happen? Will the game stretch?
this is the answer for all your questions a a thread specially made for you: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=398571

Hello all, I had a few questions that I was unsure of the exact answer as some of the topics I found relating seemed kind of vague exactly so I wanted to be sure.
1) Found the answer in another thread.
2) Is there a difference between running QVGA and VGA applications on the titan? For example the newest opera 9.5 build. I have seen two different versions posted one that was QVGA and one that is VGA. Is there a performance difference to running VGA or any reason to choose VGA over QVGA or vice versa?
I had a 3rd question but it seems to have slipped my mind right now so I will edit this if it comes back into mind. Thanks
Titan is a QVGA device. You will get better performance with a QVGA program. I have not tried it, but would think the vga program would not render properly on the titan and it would for sure eat more RAM, but again, just my programming background talking.
Hi Everyone, im a bit puzzled about the screen res of the Touch HD. Ive installed a skin, aswell as battery for the S2U2, and both of them were VGA. Now im reading that the Touch HD has a screen wich is WVGA... but every time ive tried installing something optimized for the WVGA it cripples the output, so im allways sticking to the VGA...
So can anyone of you explain to me, whats the issues here? Either its me doing something wrong or else my eyes just adapts the VGA better on my Touch HD screen
Looking forward getting a bit smarter, thanks.
Touch HD - 480*800 (WVGA)
Touch Pro - 480*640 (VGA)
Touch Cruise - 240*320 (QVGA)
Since I have Polaris, I can't explain why is display crippled.
Maybe lack of developers with Touch HD, so nothing is optimized for it, just (badly) adapted from VGA?
Thanks for your answer... Its really strange, cause all the programs, battery files for s2u2, all skins in general is for me VGA. If I try a WVGA optimized skin it doesnt look good on my Touch HD Well... im satisfied, but were just qurious to find out what screen resolution I were dealing with.
I recently hard reset my phone, as im still running the stock rom, it drives me up the wall having put back my theme mods.
So ive made a cab which will install:
flat black start/program bar today theme tsk (no more beveled bar)
large start menu background (if you have touchflow large start menu on)
flat black wallpaper
works great with Manila Rhodium VGA

So all those nice Rhodium Apps are not running on the Omnia, is that right?
But why? Because different Screen-Resolution or because its not a HTC-Device?

the release by XBmod is VGA, it was originally ported from WVGA i belive, as long as you can find a version thats the right resolution it should run, no idea where you can get it maybe ask xbmod if the extracted it or has it in cab format.

1. The Omnia has different graphics hardware than the HTC Touch Diamond-Pro series (which just so happens to be the same hardware on the upcoming second generation aka Rhodium and Topaz or Pro2 and Diamond2) which have an ATI chip. The Omnia has and Intel Xscale Direct 3D chip which is integrated into the CPU. I believe the Diamond and Pro's card is not and is totally separate.
2. The Omnia runs at 400x320 or WQVGA. The Blackstone runs at 800x480 WVGA as well so installing on the Blackstone was as simple as cabbing it up (which btw isn't so simple). The Touch Pro and Diamond run at 640x480 and porting Manila2 to these devices was hard enough.
3. There is already Manila 2D from the Touch 3G and Opal (iolite) working on the Omnia which is good enough. Check this out if you already haven't (http://www.modaco.com/content/i9x0-omnia-http-omnia-modaco-com/273892/complete-install-guide-for-manila-touchflo-2d-on-i900/)
thanx for this plazma. works great on my touch pro.
one request however, it works fine in portrait mode but not in landscape. is it possible you can add that in as well?

Hello to All !
Is there any program/utility existing that can convert or simply make
QVGA games to fill up the whole VGA display of the Universal ?
Please advise.
Many thanks,
Karl
First off,
Not sure if this should really be posted here as I am not necessarily contributing myself, but I figure this is where the guys are that can figure this out and if so, then the result will help many of of QVGA guys who golf
Moderator... if this needs to be moved please to do so... thanks
Here is what I'm asking...
GolfLogix has finally released it's Golf GPS program for WM, but they only released it for the Touch Pro (or just 480 x 640 VGA devices). I have a Touch and after I install this and try to run it says it's the wrong resolution.
I was wondering if someone in this forum can hack it to work on QVGA devices?
I'm attaching the cab
Thanks!
Edit: couldn't get the cab to upload so here is a link to download the cab...
