dear all,
first i would like to thank everybody in this forum for their great work! fantastic!
for me who owns his first wm phone it's really interesting but also dificult to filter all relevant information for my lg ks20. this is why i started this thread.
by now i have spb ms 2.1.1 installed running with the pointui skin. also got resco board and opera 9 and that should do it for me (for the start).
now comes the question(s):
- i found this great greatbal skin in all his modifications. also the discussion concerning the 9th button. the manual for how to install it doesn't work for me. any hint?
- due to the fact, that the ks20 has no g-sensor, is there any prog that provides me with the adjustment to start a program vert or horizontal? maybe in combination with the resco board (sms = open resco = switch screen. close = switch back) or opera?
- is there a manual existing for how to change buttons of the bottom row or/and in the further menues?
- when leaving a prog the phone starts back from the wm home screen, not from the ms home... and exactly this is what i wanted to avoid the most: the wm style!
and just to make that clear: i used the "search"! but for a newb like me it's impossible to find out the relevant informations in all these hundred-pages-threads...

i think about switching to a touch diamond due to the fact that there are no solutions for the mentioned problems. which is really bad because i like the ks20's reduced shapestyle more than htc...

Just some things about this thread: You seem to have many questions but just about mobile shell . The lg is a cheap qvga windows mobile ppc nothing more. So when you searched a lot you maybe found some mobile shell threads ? And now the Question: why anbother thread ?
to say it clearly: you questions have nothing to do with LG but onyl with Mobile shell or windows mobile! So this is really sensless.
it looks like a: - my personal, - i am new, -dont whant to read much, - come on help me all -thread, and not a developers thread.
so please post this questions to where they belong, i cant find anything special in your question about LG specific things. I think then you will get some answers. Because this thread read only lg users (not many ) and not mobile shell users. I think you now understand what i mean and why you dont get a answer.
Also you other question have nothing to do with LG. The bottom buttons ale called "softkeys" and evey windows moblie has this. so you should search with "change softkeys", but first learn a little bit how something is called on windows mobile, because this helps a lot when searching. Because this question has been answered a hundred times. i use SKTools, i can be done by registry change or ....
on windows moblie the screen orientation is called "Portait" and "Landscape" (helps seraching )
And you have no G-Sensor ?, 99 Percent of the windows phones have no G-sensor. just some brandnew.

Wisbar Advanced can do this...it allows you to set the screen orientation for a specific program or application; then when you exit the application your screen comes back to the original orientation it's very useful ...
What I want to know is if there is an app that will automatically adjust the backlight using info from the front camera. I can't read a thing when I'm in the sunlight but having it full on all the time eats away my battery way too fast.

I need to see all upcoming events ( next 2-3 days ? ) at the home screen, there are two at maximum and thats really annoying...
Is there any developer who knows a soloution ?

I have the problem that sometimes no appointment is shown on the home tab although there are appointment for this day in calender .
Sometimes the home-tab shows appointment from past (the day before) .
If I edit an appointment in the calender, the appointment on the home tab refresh and everything is correct .
Im using original HTC-Rom 1.93 GER with some own graphics-manila-files created with Manila editor.
Any idea?

It is a great today plugin which shows appointments, tasks - Very customizeable and I have mine showing appointments up to a week in advance. It work's very well on my HTC Touch Elf WM 6.0. I added the RL Calendar to the same page so that I have a calender above it and appointments showing beneath. All as one page in ultimateLaunch.
I see a lot of smarties here trying to be all ^%$%.
What he is asking for, as well as I need, is to be able to see more upcoming appointments while the TF3D is ON .... got it. Please read before you guys get all smart.
The apps you suggested do not work work, well they do, but do not show up with TF3D ON.
Perhaps there is some registry tweak that can allow to see like today+next 7 days appointments.

Hey buddy. There is no need to get rude. Everyone here is just trying to be helpful, geez. What is your problem.
By the way, the original question was not asking specifically for something that would work while TF3D is on specifically and since I do not have a Diamond, I would have no way of knowing what would work for you or not. I was only pointing to a possible sollution as I am sure everyone else was. Notice in my post I actually metioned working on HTC TOUCH ELF WM 6.0.
Anyway, Good Luck finding what you need.

Anybody knows the answer? Maybe only HTC staff knows. Second Today works but it is just a workaround by adding a today screen so as to avoid the TF3D screen. Like the 2USU thing (a workaround for locking the screen with incoming calls), it's not a clean solution. I don't know what other fellow diamondiers feel, but I want a clear cut solution direct from TF3D, not to switch to another screen/program/interface to get around (and I want to see everything from the TF3D screen even when it's locked and backlight is off and I don't need to unlock the screen and then press another button to see it). But yes, this has been a F-Q but still no A (as in FAQ) yet. It seems to be a real simple issue that most of us will come across and intuitively think it's easy to solve (by a registry tweak or so) but yet no solution comes up yet. It's a bit frustrating....

You seen the movie Tropic Thunder? You know Tom Cruises' part in that, when he talks to the Flaming Dragon guys for the first time through the phone? Well, that's what I'd love to do to you now.
Yes, maybe there is a tweek (sic) that can do that with "TF3D ON" (did you know that the word 'on' is officially written uncapitalised?), and yes, Second Today is a workaround (which by the way, works with TF3D "ON"); however, since topics requesting this functionality for TF3D started back in 1931 you would think that if such a tweek (sic) existed, somebody smarter than you would've found it by now. And seeing this forum now has 869015 members, that makes 869014 members smarter than you - and none of them has ever found this elusive 'tweek' since 1931.
So, yeah, maybe there is. Go find it!

thx sushilange, but i´ve already searched all threads ! i haven´t found a possibility to integrate a calendar with the touchflo3d home screen...
By the way, it would be nice to submit a link instead of beefing...
I would also like to know if theres a way to see at least 3-4 upcomming events in my calnder in the TF3D home screen. Would be super!

It seems to be spanish and the idea is to use SecondToday from http://www.chi-tai.info/cs_wm_tools_im_cs.htm.
How about making an app that changes the today screen when you rotate the device?
So when it's in portrait you have TF3d and when it's in landscape you can have Calendar+ or whatever other plugins you want?

Yes there is. It involves a bolt-on application but I can't remember exactly what it is called - SSMaPa rings a bell, but that may do something else.
I found it quite easily by searching and I would recommend you do the same. Try the Diamond Forum, but you might even find something in this Forum

Just thought I'd start a post to see what people think of this interface. Personally I love the stock TF3D for the diamond and have just added nocurtains and backgroundallpages to it and I cant wait to get the TF3D from Diamond2 onto my phone, but Im always trying out new interfaces to improve usability - I still hate going into windows mobile contacts, messaging, etc.
From testing it seems to have no bugs that I can recall so far (tested of HTC Diamond running Duttys latest version - btw, thanks to dutty: having been using your ROMs for a long time and have always been happy ). Overall customisation seems a lot easier than for TF3D and new 'applets' are being pumped out all the time. You can even 'flick' through all messages with a preview for all inboxs without getting into the windows mobile interface, although you have to enter it to read the full email or to reply/forward. Im sure that improvements will get rid of this in the future though.
Anyways Im adding it on here because Im sure some people will like it and you dont get developers better than those on XDA so maybe we can make it into something really usable?
The only things keeping me on TF3D at the moment are the lack of multiple cities in weather forcasting, lack of music playback from the home screen (no music app currently available) and perhaps a home screen applet that is a little fiddly.
Nevertheless the experience is very slick - no pauses or 'stuttering' in transitions. I will keep testing but let me know about your experiences .

First bug found - when you reply to an SMS it tries to reply via email. To reply via SMS you have to open the SMS and you can reply from there.

SMS works fine for me on Home2.
Looked interesting, but whenever I hit "home" on my diamond it went to a black, blank home screen. Also no built in media player applet yet. I usually listen to music for about 30-45 mins in the morning, and I don't want to fiddle with the classic media player.

I am aware that pointui development forums are everywhere right now, but thought it would be nice to see what diamond users think - i still think that after diamond2, the interface and usability of diamonds/touchpros is probably the best around for windows mobile.

Yea I know the lack of music is a bit annoying, but I think an applet for it is in development, and considering the throughput of these things at the moment I dont think it will be long before one is released .
Did you disable TF3D and enable Pointui from settings? Also is you TF3D the stock one or is it another one (e.g. Pro version)?
has anyone experienced crashes with it? it worked fine when I first installed on my diamond, now when I open, or soft reset and it loads, I get the RSS hub thing, but it stops spinning, and just crashes, and phone requires soft reset.

I'm a mod freak and there are somethings i would like to change in this prog.
like the programs "tab" only has 3 rows. i want to make this 4. anyone with a bit of experience possibly from the 2.xx series know where to do it?
the configs are simple ZIP files. Just open the DAT file as a ZIP file or rename it to ZIP.
in order to edit the file you need to put in the password which is:
b0fm18zq
Maybe we could custom tailor it and post the modded DAT files collected here. Most of the 2.xx series of mods/skins are portable with a little or no modification except renaming of some picture files (same password in 2.xx). the possibilities are endless
Please remove or correct my post if I'm violating/doubleposting something here.

I don't know yet. I just played around with it last night before bed. I'm just a NB in this who poked around with this great ap after not being pleased with everything and curious on what could be achived so i dont have alla the answers this is a team effort. hopfully someone with the experience or knowhow checks this. In the meantime we have to do it by trial and error. and map it all as we go along

I have discovered that Topaz enhanced menus works great with SPB MS 3.0 activated (and Manila installed but not activated in the today screen) so so far its a necessary evil to have Manila installed until we know possible witch file or reg settings are needed.

supposedly its tested on 10 pages. the result is that when paned the wallpaper moves less then with three. If wallpaper size changed it will "smartfit" it to be the "correct" size.

Hi masrterk,
I personally don't agree. i like to taylor make my GUI and of course the tastes differ. For instants.. i would like to have it pretty barebone and point to the prefered app of choice like resco contactmannager or glarm witch are the best! IMHO annyway
BUT if one could integreate them somehow that would be great if you had that choice.
right now its really easy just to link to those apps from the lifestyle screen.

Remove calendar from professional layout?

i am trying to figure out how to do something that we were able to do in 2.1, but has been left unoptional in 3.0. I would like to get rid of the calendar on the pro screen. All I want to see is my upcoming appointments (if I have any). I don't want the screen cluttered with a pesky grid-style calendar. I am such a nooB at this it is silly, but here I am, messing around with .dat files......
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
It would be nice to create a backup/restore tool for the settings/today items/widgets/etc...
When updating the rom this would be VERY useful!

There is already one in the SPB Shell settings, click the right softkey in settings and there it is, to the left of the exit button.
I tried it myself today, completely uninstalled mobile shell before I installed the official version, loaded the backup and everything was restored in the new version, included widgets and all

I don't see the grid calendar on my pro screen anymore. On the pro settings page, choose "calendar", then change # of appointments to "as many as possible". After doing this, mine now shows the next two appointments.
