no problem.....i heard fema is reimbursing anyone who buys a generator and keeps their receipt....i have yet to find any official documents on that though

Doing Well
I'm in the panhandle so the hurricain did not mess with us here.

Were in Tennesee
We came to Tn to stay with my mother. Still trying to get info on Port Arthur.

Houston Here
Alief SW Houston here. Didnt sustain too much damage, alot of wind damage to traffic system though. Almost all the street lights are out on Westheimer (which is one of the major roads in Houston, 4 lanes going east bound and 4 lanes going west bound).
The news stated only 10 deaths across Texas, so not too bad.

i'm in katy and i'm glad to see that you guys and your families are ok...i didn't get any damage...my neighbours shingles are missing in spots and of course the lights were all out...they were imposing a 9pm curfew and we didn't have lights from around 4am saturday up until 11 am yesterday..someone even set the walmart on fire(fry rd. and I-10)...they said that initially they think it was a case of them trying to find food and supplies but because walmart locked everything up in the back they decided to just burn it ...crazy lol..and i hate that walmart but didn't want to burn it yet,,just kidding guys...

AT&T 8525 on e-Bay

I apologize for plugging the sale of my Hermes in this forum, but if someone is interested in it, it could be considered a public service.
My trusty phone died last November with the radio dying NO GSM issue. I tried everything I know to fix it. Now it is on e-bay.
Last summer, work was having a picnic lunch in the office with sandwiches and cooler full of pop. I reached down to grab a diet pepsi and my 8525 fell down into the ice. It got wet enough to trigger the sensor. But I immediately pulled it out, removed the battery and I ran into the blow dry it in the restroom. When I got it home I sprayed it down with electronics spray that displaces water and cleans it. The next day, I powered it up and it worked flawlessly until Minneapolis went to 3G. Instead of celebrating the 3G service I had been waiting for... I immediately started having phone issues. Within two days I had "No Service" and upon resetting I had "NO GSM". I had no chance of returning it for warrenty repair as the water trigger had been tripped.
I am selling it with two batteries and all the accessories except the charger which works fine with my Tilt.

Sorry again for the sales pitch.

Since you are a new XDA user, I would have to have some references for you (and payment) before I would sell it to you (or anyone internationally).
In the world we live in, there are too many legal issues with trying to collect payments internationally.
i've sent you pm with an offer...i don't have an e-bay account...i'm waiting for your response
I have it on e-bay. I am sorry, but I’m not going to take it off for your offer. I appreciate your consideration. I wish you luck in finding a phone.
The auction closes in an hour.
Auction is over. Winner is me.

WOW! Tough little guy...

So it was a total clown show this morning on my roll - 18 miles in I hit a crater that caused the Aria to jump off outta the bike's mount and land in the middle of Hwy US1 (St. Aug, FL). I was sure it was a goner but I spun around to rescue - to my amazement IT WAS UNHURT! Keep in mind I average about 21mph and I was haulin a$$.
Then on the Bridge of Lions in St. Aug I hit another crater and the bike launched the phone again to the pavement - and again IT WAS UNDAMAGED.
The rubber case & clear skin on the face saved it from any damage...could HTC have made a durable phone after all? And yes - I'm changing the bike mount for the phone.
What of case? But really, it's just good to hear of St. Augustine. My parents used to live in an apartment above a photo shop right between the bridge of lions and castillo san marcos; my father directed the St. Augustine Restoration project at Flagler College; I love that town.
Glad to hear this thing is rugged, it sure doesn't feel like it could handle what you dished out on it!
If you find a good bike mount, let us know which one works for you. I'd like to mount mine as well!
ironically Ive dropped mine twice while biking to/fro work, and with it in the HTC case, its survived the impact each time.
10+ years of phones, and associated catastrophes, its notable that this little beasty didnt shatter on impact.
...or maybe im just damn lucky...

Do I have to be home to sign for the Nexus 7 delivery?

Also which shipping carrier does Google play use?
They use UPS and based on if you live in an apartment or a house, and they may leave it at the door or deliver the next day. It's also up to the driver so there is no definite answer.
UPS left it in my garage, so no it's not required in all cases. But YMMV.
Mine, in the UK, was delivered by TNT. Think my brother had to sign for it.
Google probably tells them signature required, but UPS/Fedex/USPS typically decide on their own whether or not its safe to leave a package at your door.
Thats the experience I've had anyway. My friends living in houses in less dense areas of New York come home to a box at their door, but I get to walk home to my apartment and see a notice on the door ):
Yeah, NYC... when I lived there, UPS/FedEx would never leave stuff at the door anywhere in Manhattan - unless your building has a doorman/security guard, then they would leave it with him.
Yep. Its a good idea really, I'm glad theyre not dumb enough to leave things at an apartment door lol.
For me though, FedEx sometimes leaves my stuff with a neighbor. Tbh I wish they wouldnt.

Broken hardware problem....solved

So 4 nights ago I was laying in bed with my transformer on my overfull belly and dozed. Transformer fell to the floor. Out of warranty. No visible damage and working. *whew* Come Wednesday I got a better look and found the bezel had separated and was bent and the case was cracked. On the back with the crack going to the corner and about 4 inches long. I was not happy. So I started googling for a repair location. Everything worked but I could visualize moisture and dirt making short work of my pad.
I found these guys not too far away in Hollywood Florida. I went over and got a shocking lesson in how hard it is to get parts and ho w expensive they can be with a screen costing 300 from one of the only two authorized dealers in the country. I had a already contemplated writing it off as soon as it quit working.
The guy looked at it, Joe, his partners name is Guy, and said let me see what I. can do. I don't want to quote prices but it was more than fair it was done in an hour and I cannot find the crack. Is it perfect? No. But I would not know that if he had not pointed it out.
These guys work on all brands of pads and computers. You know the saying about when someone does right you tell 10 people and when they do wrong you tell 100? I'm trying to reverse that in this case.
They are planning on doing things by mail also and the only other place I could find quickly was in San Diego CA. If you have a problem I highly recommend these guys.

While this is certainly a good thing for you, it does kind of leave some of us out.
HOWEVER I would like to see other folks post up companies that they TRUST, are GOOD, have QUALITY work, and local. Each state would be good.
While I ATM do not have a need for repairs there really isn't anyone in Anchorage Alaska that I trust enough to fix my cheapo calculator let alone a tablet.

My plea to HTC: ATT HTC One Black quality issues

I ordered my AT&T HTC One via phone so I can get them to price match costco's $129 which they did for me (customer since 2006). Ordered 5/12/13 received 5/14/13. I've pretty much been a lurker on XDA but I feel like people should know what they're getting into.
Obviously I did my hw and first thing I did was check for defects. I waited for the black in hoping to avoid QC issues. Here is what I found for this phone:
1. Although the top of the phone had no issues, there was definitely a gap on the bottom. The tiny gap went from the left side and gradually got wider moving to the right towards the micro usb connector. Dust was already lodged in 5 min after opening.
2. My finger caught slightly when sliding from the top speaker onto the screen.
3. The "edge" or "ledge" on the top left, where the screen, speaker grill, and bezel meets was noticeably different than the other four corners. It seemed as if it wasn't cut properly.
Hoping that the HTC one would replace my iphone 5, I simply couldn't justify switching to product that is ALMOST perfect (to each their own regarding OS, if you don't like sense flash over it). Took it to an ATT retail store and the sales associates were more than glad to replace my phone. Luckily they had one in stock, this was the only store within 10 miles of San Francisco with the black one in stock.
She opened the box and upon inspections we found issues 1 and 3 listed above and the FRICKING camera lens was pushed in sideways
I wanted to take pictures but I felt like I've already wasted so much time and energy with this crap that I was just glad to get my money back and leave. I got a full refund and they replaced my upgrade.
HTC please get your **** together. No need to be bold or quietly brilliant, just be amazing and stand behind your products. You designed it right, now make it right.
Only store within 100 miles of SF? You're joking right? Most of the stores here in the East Bay have them I stock. Was in Palo Alto and most stores had them also, use the availability checker on att.com

ops meant 10 miles. The closest one is in Corte Madera which is 11 miles out of where I am, not to mention I have to cross bridge and deal with traffic. Understand that the store in SF only had 1 in stock, well two now.
