ok my i have a mda vario and i have no clue how to connec it with my pc..i tried using window mobile center but it always said im not connected but when i go to the settings it says my phone is connected can anyone help me? cuz i really wana add stuff to my mda
Win Vista is still with problems,use WinXP and latest Activesync 4.5,there won't be any problems.
how do i change back to winxp
Simply,either make new partition of the Hard Disk and install winxp or altogether install a fresh installation of winxp on your pc.But if you have another pc or notebook with winXP running,use that one.

Please note that with the "old" notebock, with vista too, i have use the Hermes without problem.
Just connect via usb and all works fine.
Now with the new notebock (same os (wm6.0 in ppc, and vista home in the notebock)) i have problems.
Vista dont recognize hermes.
so i cant connect ppc to notebock.
Some ona have idea how can i do a connection and a sync with vista.

if i use internet sharing and conect the pda with notebook all works fine.
Pc find the rnids device and i can go to internet.
But if i try to sync the pc dont reconize the ppc...

I've had nothing but issues with Vista and WM6 on my Hermes.
The few things I can suggest.
1) As you say Disable the Advanced networking....
2) Connect directly to a USB port, not through a hub.
3) Try soft-resetting your phone between connection attempts.
4) Remove associations between Vista and your phone.
I find that the first time I connect it everything's good, but on subsequent attempts it's hit and miss.
If you are using vista, there's an update for Windows Mobile software on the microsoft website.

you need to install 6.1 for it in order for WM6 to work with vista.

If he is using the same version of WM Device center on both computers and i am assuming he is, then i doubt it will fix the problem by downloading the latest version as i have that version installed on both my pc's.
I had the same problem, where windows just detected the device as an unknown device and therefore wouldnt let me sync.
right click on my computer and click manage, then plug in your device and see if you have any unknown devices appearing if you do right click on it and click uninstall then unplug the device and wait 10 seconds then plug it back in, this solved it for me. Although i still have to do this every so often. But at least it allows me to sync with both my pc's

did you try to reinstall active sync (for winXP) or windows mobile device center (for windows vista)?

There is absolutely no need for the original CD, i have one but i have never put in the the computer, i don't know even what's on it
I use my X1 with 2 computers, a Vista and an XP Pro, both recognized the x1 with no special drivers, activesync ok.
to update the ROM, check the X1 ROM forum here, there is a method without PC (the MicroSD method), which i use and is very fast and easy.
Does anyone know whether there are any prog that allow usb host on the xperia? I want to plug my hard drive into it w/o using a computer
It doesn't exist simply becuase xperia doesn't has the hardware to be a usb host.

So, thank you for all, but my problem is still. So, I've got windows xp and x1, the usb driver connect is very godd, it is working, but if i choose the Active sync the xp doesn't know the device. I don't know why. Should i have a driver or another program ? I want to update my rom and Wm 6.5. Please help

ok guys so i did a complete restore on my pc and now i need to reinstall ome things and one of the firsts is my startup disk with WMDC and Activesync4.5 i have had this installed and working properly not long ago but now it will not install. I have windows vista and it says activsynce does not wok on vista so i dont know what to do bc wmdc installs but is nowhere to be ound and activesynce wont at all, please help I use my phone as a modem ( im cheap) so i have no internet

For Windows 7, you need Windows Mobile Device Center, not Active Sync. Install that and it will work.
i did, it goes connecting for around a minute or two then again, connection error. please help wheather i need to update the phone or something
