I'm used the bluetooth manger on other pocket pc's but on the MDA its missing. Are there any good alternative managers?? To pair and manage devices?
There is no BT Manager like other pda's available.
For Himalaya it is because of the use of a MS BT Stack, instead of Widcomm.
Dont know for Magician though
To save you the hassle of using the search function, try Pocket Bluetooth Tools, note new URL everybody.

rgds,
Alex.
Beware of the minus's of Pocket Bluetooth Tools and the fact is is not needed from (at least rom) 1.72 onwards
Yes, there are some minuses (auto switch off, etc), but I used it b4 1.72 with TomTom and a Polstar BT GPS with no problems. I now don't need it as TT3 seems to be ok with the MS BT stack.
If you could let us know what you want it for, someone should be able to advise more specifically.
BTW, I re-read my post and I wasn't being funny about using the search. I had the same problem when trying to track down Pocket Bluetooth Tools, there are so many topics on Bluetooth it takes a long time to find what you're looking for. So I put it here in this nice short topic (now rapidly growing!) to try and make it easier for others to find in the future as well.
cheers,
Alex.
Is there any option on bt tools for not automatically turning on BT each time I call someone? I ended up uninstalling it because of this. Thanks!

I want to use email en internet access with my MDA Compact.
The standard built in bluetooth manager seems not to support this LAN access through bluetooth. Who can help me ?

The BT Lan Access Service using Microsoft BT Stack has been removed in the registry. It's been like that since XDA2.
I do not know if there is a corresponding driver available in MDA Compact such that you can re-enable the service via updated registry entries.
Anyone?
i think it needs the ppp bluetooth profile
and ms bluetooth stack dont have that
vidcomm bluetooth stack does....
you can try using that

Found the reg entry with missing configuration:

Anyone knows enough of these entries?
just add those to your device, apply the other things from msdn you've found and restart your device. then scan your ppc on the pc for open services...
I have found a workaround
I'm the happy owner of an MDA Compact and a Siemens blue2net access point. Indeed, the Microsoft Bluetooth stack refused to talk to the access point, which only offers the "Lan Access" profile.
I tried the suggested registry hack. Good idea, but sadly it does not work. It would appear that the "Lan Access" profile is simply not supported by the Bluetooth stack - it has not just been disabled by deleting a few registry entries
However, I found a workaround. After a few hours of fighting with the Microsoft stack, I downloaded a free Bluetooth stack from Toshiba (http://aps.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/) that supports the "Lan Access" profile. I did a full backup of my MDA Compact, adopted the "brace position", and prepared for a crash landing (aka hard reset).
After installing the Toshiba Bluetooth stack, I simply had to do a soft reset to activate it. Big surprise for me: my MDA still worked. Clicking the Microsoft Bluetooth icon in the status bar now told me that my toy had no Bluetooth support; however, clicking the new Toshiba Bluetooth icon brought up a different (and better, IMHO) Bluetooth interface. From here I could see the blue2net access point. Not only that - I could actually connect to it. The rest was piece of cake: add the Bluetooth device and configure a modem connection via it. I am now happily surfing the web via Bluetooth
The only caveats I have so far are these:
1) I now have a disfunctional Microsoft Bluetooth icon in the status line. I would like to get rid of that. Please drop me a note if someone knows how to do that.
2) When using the Toshiba Bluetooth stack, the diode above the screen does not blink blue when Bluetooth is active. A small price to pay for having internet access
i am about to do as lars_juhl has stated on my xda II knowning that he messed with mda compact and i have a xda II but still i am going to do as he has stated will let you guys know wat happens.

ok ive downloaded bluetooth stack v3.10.00 from the link that you've given and after extracting the contents of the zipped file on my desktop i have.
1.QFE (FOLDER)
2.SD_HOST_driver (Folder)
3.us (Folder)
4.AutoAns (Exe)
5.AutoOn (Exe)
6.AutoSetup (Config File I Guess)
7.lmgLoad.dll
8.Setup (Exe)
9.TbpSetup (Exe)
10.TbpSetup (Config)
11.TosBtLoad.dll
12.Uninstall
care to tell me which is the file that you installed on your pda as a bluetooth profile and i shall follow you.

I think you're supposed to download the 'Pocket PC 2002 / Windows Mobile 2003' bluetooth stack. This shows version 5.01.
Goodluck.

Hi,
I've one question:
(a) Apart from Internet access, do you have other BT functions working?
e.g. Headset/Handsfree, BT ActiveSync??
The BT Tray Icon can be removed by deleting this registry key
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\BTIcon]
then reboot.
If you don't wish to remove the key, you can disable it by editing this parameter value under the registry key
change
"Dll"="BTIcon_Dll.dll" to
"Dll"="BTIcon_Dll.dll.disabled"
then reboot. When WM2003SE tries to load the Dll driver, it can't find it and therefore the MS BT system tray icon will not be activated.
The download is here:
http://aps.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/pages/download.php
Works great on my MDA Compact too (DLINK BT-900ap).
Many thanks for this idea.
Does anyone know if there is a way to turn on/off the bluetooth radio once this stack has been installed ? I have the feeling that it is always on, consuming precious energy...
BTW has anyone tried headsets with this stack. Do they work ?
Thanks agian,
Martin

Yeah, I have the same question.
And one more: After turning off/on toshiba bt icon disappers. How to fix it?
it works for me but how can i turn bluetooth off ?!! i think it goes ON all the time
Yeah, the BT icon is disappearing after turning the device off as well as sometimes ramdomly.
The set-up app (bt_setup) cannot be restarted without soft reset, I get following error "An error occured with th Buetooth Card Confirm that the card is working properly."
M.
I installed the Toshiba bluetooth stack on my I-Mate Jam and it ROCKS - it includes ALL the functionality missing in the MS stack!
...BUT...
It is unstable as hell (I have experience all the bugs listed in this thread) and I am fairly sure this is due to the fact that both MS and Toshiba stacks try to use the same bluetooth hardware SIMULTANEOUSLY.
...SO...
has anyone figured how deinstall/reinstall the microsoft bluetooth stack on a Magician (I-Mate Jam, Qtek S-100, MDA Compact, XDA Mini)?
I'm at my wits end with my T-Mobile MDA (aka HTC Wizard) and my new 2007 Acura RDX. The car can connect to the Internet via a Bluetooth phone to send/receive diagnostic messages to Acura, but I'm pretty sure the MS Bluetooth stack is disconnecting during the setup. I'm able to pair the HTC Wizard just fine with the car, and the handsfree functionality for sending/receiving voice calls works perfectly using the JETWare mobile Bluetooth extension on the phone. I've tried doing some basic registry tweaks in the HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth keys, but nothing helped. I can use my Sony Ericsson T68i phone just fine with this troublesome feature, but I really don't want to start using my old phone again. Any thoughts on what might be fubared with the DUN connectivity? I'm using the same dial strings too that work just fine on my laptop with the MDA (*99#) on T-Mobile's network. Thanks in advance for suggestions...
While I don't have specific info on your car, you may want to give a try to the
1, Widcomm BT stack (instead of the MS one)
2, AKU3 and BT PAN if your car also supports PAN and not just DUN.
Please check out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=282780 on the latter q.
Thanks for the reply. I've had older Pocket PC/Windows CE devices that used Widcomm, but I was under the impression that the MS Bluetooth stack was baked into the device ROM. Do I have to reflash the HTC Wizard ROM to get the Widcomm BT stack?
RE: option #2, I'm nearly certain that the car does not support PAN, but I'll dig around and see what I can find.
Thanks again.
Hmm... I just found this wiki page:
http://maemo.org/maemowiki/BluetoothDUN
which mentions Bluetooth DUN problems on the Samsung SGH-X820, which I believe is using WM5 or similar variant. At any rate, it mentions a "receive all" flag, and I'd love to know if there's a registry setting in WM5 that's related to this suggestion.

nope, just install the Widcomm BT stack, not even a hard reset is needed - see the sticky thread.
Thanks again for the prompt reply. I followed the How To here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=285696
and I also used SolSie's installation guide here to fill in some gaps:

I used the CAB file here:

Bluetooth functionality seems to working ok, but I don't see Dialup Networking as a service now on my HTC Wizard. Do I need to upgrade the AKU ROM? I'm using the summer 06 ROM update from T-Mobile USA right now. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

You're right - just tested this on my Wizard. No DUN service is visible- actually, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Widcomm\BtConfig\Services doesn't contain any DUN service listed.
I'll tomorrow check this on my other 1.7 WM5 Widcomm-based Pocket PC's (hx4700, x51v) to see whether you can import this functionality in any way. My WM2003 iPAQ 2210 and WM2003SE PL720 lists this service; from the former (I only have this here at home in addition to my Wizard; the rest are all at work) a direct HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Widcomm\BtConfig\Services\ and [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\Services\00001103-0000-1000-8000-00805F9B34FB] didn't work though.
From what I've read on other sporadic posts, it seems that the Windows Mobile registry has a setting for enabling a "receive all" parameter for Bluetooth that fixes DUN problems. I'm sure there's a bit of a security risk in that, but I'm willing to try anything at this point.
You mean the standard BT / IrDA receive all? It's not dangerous at all - and, for that matter, it doesn't even add much to the overall power consumption, contrary the popular belief (see my related power consumption measurements)
Thanks for the reply. I read your post(s) on power consumption--excellent stuff. I can see options for IR ("Receive all incoming connections"), but not for Bluetooth, other than the discoverable option. Is there some registry parameter? That's what I'm looking--if DUN is failing during a PPP connection because a some weird rejection command, I'd like to see if there's anything I can try out to work around that.
The "Recieve incoming beams / Recieve Incoming Connections" in the IR menu in also responsible for BT file recieves. In addition to enabling the BT discoverable option, you need this to be turned on to accept file tranfers. I'm not sure about how this is going to effect DUN, but give it a shot.
This is prolly what you might have read in one of those posts that you mentioned.
BTW, the DUN service will not be offered even with the Beam Receive option enabled.
This may mean, currently, unless someone invents a way to access DUN under Widcomm, it's impossible to use Widcomm-based WM5 PPC PE devices as external dial-up modems.
Hm...
I know this is kinda off topic of DUN, but using the Axim Widcomm stack on my 8125, I loose all sound from the speaker.... anyone else encounter this?
Yes I have this problem too, can be solved just by calling someone... but then there are other problems...
1)Memory leak after turning off Bluetooth.
2)Only solution is to leave it on, but there are other issues here, for me, so far, it is my Wizard hangs(require soft reset button) or the sound of the speakers dissappears and gets redirected to the phone speaker only... after about a days use..
Hm.... well.... suck. I wish someone released a custom ROM without the MS stack

I there any way to let our BlueAngle to connect GPS and BlueTooth headset at the same time I use WM6 already with Garmin Mobile 10 (10x) but can't used head set at the same time anyone have some idea to solved this problem
This is indeed a weird issue that is still occuring, the only 'work around I found' is to make two outgoing connections in order to connect them both, usually you have the headset connect towards the blue angel, so in inbound connection, if you connect your BA towards your headset, so in the bt menu really select to connect it, and than connect your bt antenna, this is no problem, I've tried all myself already to resolve this as I use this a lot and no other solution up to know, tried changing registry where you have like max connections on bt and all, but all that doesn't work
Grtz,
Tom

Well basically it's rather easy for my as I use Tom Tom and once Tom Tom is powered on it will activate the BT and connect any device already linked to your BA,
So I power my BT car kit, but don't activate my BT on my BA, I wait for 10sec and then my car kit makes a sound like it can't connect (because my BT isn't activated) and so he stops looking but remains powered on, then I just power on tomtom, this activates my BT function and connects my car kit and tom tom antenna immediatly, dunno how this comes but he always does this,
Several versions of tomtom already installed and always works like a charm...
i had a similar problem...
the work around i found is that connect audio first and then connect gps. it'll always work
Have to try this too
I will try these methods tonight then will report back here later on thank a lot for all good ideas here
Confirm
Well Done I found the solution even it not so convinience but it work out
1. Turn Off BlueTooth on BA
2. Turn on BT Headset , GPS
3. Wait for a while
4. Open GPS program for my case is GARMIN MOBILE XT
4.1 MOBILE XT turn on bluetooth then it will link to both device without registry edit at all
5. Enjoy the show and drive safely
I will keep update on testing with these 2 devices.
actually i use garmin que with gpsgate,
b4 starting garmin que .... the audio had to be connected..
It works for me, I use TomTom bluetooth GPS.
The trick is to start bluettoth first manually and then GPS program. Bluetooth headset can be started any time.

What GPSsettings do you use, program and hardware port?
Thanks.
After use 2 BT GPS + BT head set for almost a week everything work great but the only thing you have to aware is do not move one of the device out of range otherwise you will lose the connection from them even you have put them back in range. I notice that by I put headset with me then leave the phone and GPS inside the car after I come back the HeadSet can not be pair with the phone anymore have to turn off and then turn on the BT in our BlueAngle again. However there is only 1 problem i can found out.
New way
Ok I found more easy way I use program camm btIO V0.6 from www.silentservices.de or you can download from
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-btio-bluetooth-tray-icon.html
then just tab the icon to turn on/off bluetooth
however I also use another program call CicleBT then map the button of camera which i don't use much to turn on/off Bluetooth in case have some problem to connect to GPS MOBILE 10x
Hardware port setting also help me sometion no need to turn off bluetooth before enter Mobile XT

Hello, I've got problem with my bluetooth gps (nemerix).
When I'd like to connect to my pda first I'm looking for new devices in bluetooth manager, then parring and seeting outgoing port. And then I'm starting my Navi aplication. It works.
But, when I'm shutting down gps device, turning off buetooth in pda and start it again I've to all tasks mention above - searching, parring and so on. In my opinion, when it's added to my bluetooth devices and properly parred once it should work every time I'd like to use it, however gps device doesn't communicate with pda.
It's quite annoying, why I cannot just start my gps device and my navi aplication and run - I spend a minute with setting connection.
Do anybody know how to fix my problem?
Are you using a custom rom? If so it could be a problem with the rom you are using. I've had the same problem in the past and a different rom fixed the problem.
I've got now Schaps_WM6Pro_Hermes_4.31_WWE_Full, which rom are you using -RanDomIze Final Storm v2.10?
