Hi,
try to clean board with isopropyl alcohol or in ultrasonic cleaner. Maybe it can help you.

Replace the battery
I had the same problem after my mda ii went through the washing machine. Replacing the battery fixed the problem.
thanks guys for the replies , further my XDA had been properly dried and cleaned but now the problem is that the machine doesnt operate further than the "ALIGN SCREEN" setup where one has to tap the screen at four corners and the center one I tap the screen i return to the same screen as ask to tap the screen again.
Will flashing the rom serve any purpose or is it aa hardware problem, rest of the device seem to be ok even the bluetooth light flashes when i turn the XDA ok. But not able to get i any further from there.
So what do the experts have to say, Please reply.
thanks again
well, mine had very hot coffee poured all over it.
my suggestion to you would be, dont turn it on or place the battery for at least 3 days if under normal drying conditions only.
or if you know how to take it apart, spray everything with contact cleaner, it will dry up immediately,
then cross your fingers and hope nothing shorted out when it first went inot the water.
strategy is - wait - dry- wait - test - dry some more - spray contact cleaner - dry - test - until such time it works. coz some moisture might still be present and causing a little bit of short circuit.
It sounds more of a hardware issue than a software issue and you may have to take is apart to fix it.
Try two things, Number 1: (You need to use some latex or vinyl gloves if you need to take your unit apart). You are going to need to check your digitizer connection to the motherbaord, make sure you don't have any mosture trapped in the ribbon lock and make sure the entire front part of the digitizer is flush against the inside case edge. Number 2: Have you seperated the digitizer from the LCD yet? If this thing was in water the slightest spot of moisture will disrupt the very small electrical field between the digitizer and the LCD that recognizes the stylus taps. Abosolutly nothing should be present between the two and also around the white or grey strip on the inside of the digitizer for it is also a contact strip. You can use a lens cleaning cloth to clean any dust and moisture from the inside of the digitizer before you put it back together with the LCD. Being I worked on about 150 toshiba e750's that suffered sprinker damage in a fire, I learned quite bit on what makes a Pocket PC tick. Good luck with getting it working.
the same
I had the same problem 3 or 4 years ago with a HP Jornada 680 (handledPC). I must unfortunately say that I could never get my touchscreen working back again. Perhaps if you could change your screen for a new one, or at least one that always worked (some are sold around the www, even a few by members here if i remember).
Good luck
Shane
the stylus is working as the sceen responds to the tabs, but the process of calibarating the screen doesnt finish and keeps on repeating. and it asks to align the screen again.
The digitiser is working but the software doesnt seem to be working...
what do you have to say?
and thanks for the reply
guys thanks for the reply
but no luck... is there any sofware that can check if the components are working and ok, or simply what should i do. The info about the problem in a nut shell is
First the loading happpens with the O2 screen then the "Windows mobile screen says Tap the screen to setup the pocket pc" Then when i tap the screen next screen comes saying "ALIGN SCREEN" with a crosshair in the middle of the screen when i tap it with the stylus it moves till all four corners are tapped which crosshair point to. But now the problem begins.
The same screen repeats and asks for the same procedure again and again and again And the Xda processing doesnt move further.
i even flashed the ROM but same thing........
no luck
HELLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPP!!!!!!
REPLACE THE BATTERY
Have you bought a new battery yet?
Like I said above, my MDAII went through the wash. Just like you, i got the align screen process followed by a spontaneous hard reset. I bought a new battery, charged it up in the cradle overnight, then popped it into my machine. Good as new.
Don't mess with the software until you try a brand new battery.
Cheap and effective.
Hmm, the touch screen is responding to taps, but maybe its a bit 'offset'.. I mean maybe when you tap exactly center, it will receive your tap to be a lot more offset to right, left, up or, down.. Cos that's what making the 'align screen' asks you to realign again and again..
Hi Tanvir,
I want some of the others to advise on what I am suggeting. On my xda I ( which I own as well as a Blue Angel) we are able to put it into boot mode and press the "action" or was it the "contact" button to get it into test mode. Being I don't own a Himalaya but I would guess that they would have that function too, and in that function it has a test for the aligment screen which it might be able to align in the test mode away from the OS running. If someone has the tip for helping Tanvir of getting his unit in to test mode, Please someone post it for him. Also being I don't own the XDA 2 if anyone has anything to add on my suggestions, the floor is open. let me know how it's going Tanvir. Cheers.
Shane
I'm sure Tanvir's digitizer is no more...
Go to www.ppctechs.com and purchase a new one... not that expensive!
Good luck!

Hi shane,

hi jamil

dismantling O2 Atom housing

Hi,
I have just bought a new O2 atom housing (as my old one is scratched to death), and am currently trying to find a guide or instructions on how to dismantle the phone housing.
I know there are two T screws with void stickers on them that need to be removed at the bottom end of the phone one you slide the battery cover off. I can't see any other screws visible. Apparently there are meant to be 4.
Does anyone have detailed instructions on how to change the housing? I have searched this forum and google, and have come up with nothing much.
Thanks everyone!
There is a fully descriptive video on dismantling the Atom, I cant find it but I had it last year and Im sure you will find it just keep looking. Basically you must remove the camera housing cover and there are two more screws under that, then you run you finger nail between the front and back cover to open the housing, good luck and remember nothing needs to be forced.
try this...http://bible.younet.com/files/2007/03/30/369427.shtml
you have to pop the top half of the rear cover off. it is particularly difficult, and the black strip that runs right around the devices is very soft plastic which gets mashed real easy. try using your fingernail (even that will dent it) and run it around the edge. Once it pops off you will see the other two screws. they also has void stickers on them.
Good luck

I know there are 4 screws that need to be removed. have taken the top cover off so can see the other 2 screws have an old nokia T tool but it does seem to fit the screw heads
can anybody tell me... what sort of tool do you use to take the screws out?
hmm i use a precision screwdriver set , try all the size and see which one it fits =)

be careful with a small plain screwdriver, you'll be ok
i tried dismantling it.. but my objective was to actually remove the camera. couldnt find a way to remove it.. is it possible?
Hi all,
do you know if a Atom Exec housing is compatible with a Xda Atom "classic". Same dimensions i think.
Thanks a lot !

I guess you already tried hard reset?.
Can you get to bootloader mode?.
Tried hard resets, and getting to bootloader mode, i think this is a malfunction with the actual device, I just need to find out how to get in touch with o2 support internationally, i was wondering if someone on here may have had this problem too.
Thanks.
white screen - connector loose?
I too have this problem - but if I twist the screen away from the keyboard I get the display back. I suspect there's a connector loose inside but haven't looked inside.
Anyone on the forum any experience of getting inside and reseating connectors?

Hello there,
I had to get inside my xda to replace the screen that one of my dear rug rats broke. it is quite easy to do, and you only need to get into the screen side of it to get at the conectors. spin the screen half way round and look at the bottom and you will see 6 small screws. take out the two furthest out and two in the middle nearest the screen side. if you take them all out the whole thing becomes hard to handle. the front cover should GENTLY leaver off, and the cables to it exposed. even if they look in place lift the catch holding them in place and take them out and wipe the contacts with a cloth. just be very carefull with the cable strips as they tear very easy. . any problems then PM me

thanks for this posting - worked perfectly once i had worked out that atually you need to remove the screws further away from the screen in the middle. but otherwise I have successfully resurected a brick into a working universal! thanks!

Yippeee! My uni feels NEWWW again! :D

Hi!
My uni's hinge got really loose and shaky and i was bloody frustrated all these days. Though i'd taken it apart so many times and tightened the hinge, it didnt make a difference....until today
I opened it up, pulled the side clip-ons out (the two pieces with the status LEDs for btooth & radio) and did this -
The bluetooth led piece goes around a metal pipe (the hinge rod) which usually gets loose and starts to slip. I wrapped a layer of cello-tape onto this hinge rod and slid the bluetooth led piece back on to the hinge rod. This time because of the cello-tape the piece goes f***in firm onto the hinge rod!!!
On the opposite side, i stuffed some toilet paper (!!!) into the piece to make it stiff as there isnt too much of the hinge rod on the other end (for the Radio led piece).
Reassembled the damn thing back, and now it feels like brand NEW!!!! Man, no clicking sounds, no rattling or shakes, no i'm-gonna-fall-apart-any-minute feeling!!!
After doing this, i feel like hanging on to my uni for some more time (a day ago i was so frustrated that i wanted to get rid of it!!)
Cheers!

If anybody wants pictures of how to do it, i can make an illustration....let me know if anything is unclear and u need help!
cheerio!
step by step instructions backed by pictures would be great! mine's starting to wobble to... this would be a great help!
PLEASE DO!!!!
PLEASE!!!!
Pretty PLEASE
COME ON....
where are the instructions and pictures? cant wait... hehe!
Hey!
I'll do it in te next couple days.
However, I think if you search for the HTC Universal's service manual, it has better instructions. You need to do the following -
1. Remove battery, sim, and remove 4 screws which are under the battery
2. Remove stylus, and start pulling the back side cover apart.
3. Disconnect antenna holder (the white plastic surrounding the camera (on the insides of the device)
4. Remove screws holding the motherboard, remove connectors coming from display unit and keyboard
5. Pull off the motherboard.
6. Take off the keyboard by removing all screws holding it.
7. Now, the two pieces (i talked of in my first post come off along with the display unit. Do what I told you in the first post and reassemble in the reverse order
8. It should be all fixed!
Again, for these steps download the service manual for step by step instructions with pictures. Also, all you need to take it apart is one screw driver with two bits! Its a philips screwdriver...get the specs from the service manual again!
Cheers!

I had the same problem a long time ago, then found a thread with this same question
I solved by placing a piece of tape on tha plastic part of the stylus (Of course with the same shape so it not looks bad) and voila!
Hope it helps for you
I am not interested in putting some tape on the stylus as I think that this is only a tempory measure!
There has been a tread here where somebody showed us how you can fix the internal plastick "spring" which holds the stylus, but for this I have to open the PDA...So if somebody knows the torx screw number, that would help me!
Thx!

Well I have almost a year with my tape on it without opening my pda and even it´s hidden so you don´t even see it
I dont mind changing tape once or twice a year really
Anyway good luck and if you find another solution please let all us know
Cheers,
Ok guys, its a T-6 you need to open your Qtek 9000...lets see that the patient survives the operation!
It was a 5min job...a small drop of 2component glue and voila!
I think that the plastick "spring" got "tired, its like new now!
See pictures...
Cool!!
I´ll test it soon as I can
Merci!
