Guys,
My Touch Diamond locks every few minutes on account of the Security Policy enforced by Exchange.
This creates a problem. If the phone is in locked mode and if the alarm has been set or a reminder comes up, there seems to be no option to dismiss it. I have to first unlock the phone and then press the bell like icon on the task bar and then access the reminder. The ringer keeps on ringing in the meanwhile. Its quite irritating especially if it is the morning alarm. This wasnt the case in TyTn II.
I have tried installing Zenyee, but even Zenyee doesnt work. The security policy still locks up the phone.
Has anybody else faced a similar problem?
Thanks,

Yeah, I've had a similar experience. I use my MDA Compact IV as an alarm clock like I did with my HTC Touch. With the touch, I could snooze the alarm without unlocking. With the MDA I have to unlock. I'm even considering getting an alarm clock now!!!!
Mark
Same inproper behaviour with my touch.
I cannot dismiss my alarms even I unlock my device. I cannot see alarm reminder at all. I have to boot it up every morning after alarm. . I have same company policy in use due to Exchange.
Wow! Looks like we are the only guys facing this problem. None of the other Diamond users seem to be affected by this issue.

Maybe other people are using a free SW called "StayUnlock" that overrides your exchange servers security policy.......search for it on this site or on google.....
Download link is here: http://www.zenyee.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/01/zenyeecom-stay-unlock.zip

I was wondering if anybody has been able to come up with a fix for the K-Jam regarding the problem where the unit doesn't vibrate when a new email arrives when in standby? This issues occurs with the new AKU2 ROM that introduced push mail.
Thanks!
i keep having to beat my head against a wall because people don't know how to read, let alone search. so here is the answer:
Microsoft has specifically said this is NOT an option in the current AKU2 roms. Why? because MS took out that option because it would drain battery life, especially if you are getting a lot of e-mails a day. if MS decides to enable this, that's up to them. is it as simple as a reg entry? no idea. but lets drop this subject and the continuous posts untill something actually does come up.
While there is no FIX per-se there is a very goos and easy work around.
Phone Alarm from http://www.pocketmax.net/phoneAlarm.htm
lets you do a ton of stuff. Setting vibrate for all e-mail accounts is just one of them.
It also supports repeating alarms for e-mail too. Actually this is why I found this program. I use my 9100 as a pager for my companies tech support so I wanted a repeating alarm rather than just a go off once where it could be missed. Check it out.

ahem. What I have seen MS state is that turning on the screen when new mail arrives could seriously impact battery life for high volume mail users. The last public statement from MS that I've seen (besides the statement above) is that the vibe-on-email issue couldn't be replicated but would be escalated in the WM team. The response was from Jason L. who posts to one of the WM team blogs and his response was posted here by a forum user who contacted him directly.
For reference, the pre-AKU2 ROMs also do not vibe-on-mail and whatnot and stuff.

TECHNICALLY you are correct. This program does not FIX the problem, if you have the settings done a specific way you can get the behavior folks are looking for.
If in the Alarm settings page you set "Always vibrate if muted", "Always vibrate with sound" both on, and set "Don't activate backlight on alarm" off or unchecked. Then when an email of any kind comes in, push or otherwise, the phone will wake up, make your selected sound and vibrate as often you choose in the repeat settings. I tested with with my mail2web account extensively.
So as I said at the beginning TECHNICALLY the phone does not vibrate while asleep, Phonealarm will turn on the phone and then vibrate according to your settings so I am right too. It can be done.
Since I was at the movies this past weekend and felt a vibrate while the phone was in it's holster I can say for sure this does what I need it to.
Oh, and by the way I left the theatre before I pulled out the phone to check the message. We must think of others.

You sir are my favorite person of the day. I was going to work through the the dozens of setting permutations this evening to see if I had missed something. Thanks for the concise solution.
What do you personally do about the backlight coming on? Set the timeout to something low? It would be nice if it came on, vibed, and then went off. Well, really it would be nice it would freakin vibe with the backlight remaining off.. =)

Well thanks
I have not changed the backlight timeout since I rarely get more than a few of messages a day (I use it for urgent tech support messages) and I actually find I like that the phone is on when it comes out of it's holster. Since the thing never leaves my belt There is no real battery issue since I would pull it out and turn it on anyway. But I guess if you were worried about that, then setting the backlight timeout low would be a good solution.
This latest OS from MS really seems to be where they forgot about current users. They made all these changes without the ability to even hack back the old way. It's just so stupid. The battery icon thing, and now this vibrate thing. And for each one they ahve a plausabile answer except for the fact that there are tons of users that like things the way they are. I don't care if they change the default setting but they sould offer a registry setting to at least change it back when they make a big change. That is fricking MS for you!
It was the first time I have set my alarm to wake me up on my 8525. Needless to say I could not get the alarm to turn off. I have tried soft reseting and everything. Now when the phone restarts the red indicator light flashes and even without any alarms checked, the unit continuously plays the alarm over and over again with about a 15 second delay.
Has anyone seen this before? It is driving me insane!
I have the at&t rom and it has worked fine for over a month now..
What could it be?
Its a bug. I had the same issue on a previous AKU 3.x rom.
The only way I got rid of it was reinstalling my Rom...
I had it with a TyTN with factory supplied ROM (AKU 2.x). There was no dismiss soft-button, nor the menu to do anything; reset didn't help either. At the time, I just turned off the sound for notifications and hardresetted the phone in the evening.

Well, yes there are some known issues with the alarm. It may however not be necessary to go to the lengths of changing the ROM and doing a hard reset.
One of the most common issues is that the alarm notification store becomes cluttered up with duplicates and junk. (And this can happen regardless of whether you use the alarm much or not!!).
The standard way to clear the notifications queue is to use a third party tool and there are several but the best known are:
SKtools (Not Freeware)
http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=14288
Memmaid (Not Freeware)
http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=14279
Scarybear (Freeware)
http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/notificationclearfix.shtml
Use any of these to clear your notifications cue. I personally like sktools as it has a host of other facilities well worth having - but the others are good too.
Mike
Is the behaviour of absent dismiss and menu buttons (the soft buttons) also the result of a messed up notifications queue?
I did have issues once where alarms went of twice at the same time, etc.; but at least I could turn them off when this occured.

Good question - and I do not know the answer for sure. The first two posters above do not say whether they get the dismiss option at all or whether they get the dismiss option but it just does not cancel the alarm.
That was the reason for my "caution" in replying and saying they "may" not need to change ROM or Hard reset.

Wow!
I just used scarybear and I had 899 items that were sitting there! That could slow down the old 8525 huh??? That seems like quiite the large oversight on the part of HTC does it not?

Wow! indeed.
Question is will it now work correctly?
I wouldn't blame HTC for this one though, it's a M$ problem.
Hope it works, if not it's a hard reset next step. Mine had this problem but ok now after clear out. You may find you've claered out some notifications you do want. That's ok though you can reset them. Also if you ever restore from a backup you may need to re-clear the duplicate notifications.

Scary Bear download link no longer works.
Any other free alternatives?
Thanks!
In the last couple of days, when I've had an alarm go off the sound has triggered, but there's been no onscreen notification, so I've not been able to dismiss it. It's turned on under sounds/notifications under "reminders".
This is really bugging me: in recent days I've installed batterytray and Calendar+ but no real reason to think it's related.
Anyone got a suggestion for what to check?
Ric

Tried the free task manager from

and deleted duplicate notifications and all is well.
Is this a common WM5 bug then? Seems to have speeded my phone up a little...
Is that normal?
Your phone is possessed by an evil spirit lol
just joking, but seriously..have look whether youv set any alarms by accident. iv done that before.
well i have the only alarm at 6.45 am set by another program, nothing more, the fact is that it just turns on without any alarm song neither event
looking at the notification que, there are two events scheduled at 12am each day
\windows\manilaactivatetoday.exe
and also \windows\calupd.exe
Assume this is to update the calender. Whether this turns the display on - i cant tell you....

let me guess, your using G-Alarm. Although i havnt used G-Alarm iv done some research for you.
According to this site where G-Alarm is hosted http://www.ageye.de/
there is a windows alarm bug that causes this
heres what the site said you should do
"Don't wakeup at midnight
Because of the Windows alarm bug, G-Alarm wakes the device at midnight so Windows Mobile can rebuild its notification queue. If you turn this off by inserting or changing following line in your settings.xml, it may happen that an alarm doesn't go off:
<MidnightWakeUp>False</MidnightWakeUp>"

So let me understand, do i have to modify settings.xml to disable midnight wake up or i have to leave it in peace?
u must take a risk of being late if u disable it

I noticed this also, although not at midnight or any particular time and not consistently either. It seemed to be syncing with my exchange or at least everytime it did it my emails and appoints and such were all resynced and refreshed.(I have it set for "as items arrive") Funny thing tho is it only lights up the screen occasionaly when doing this. Also it seems to be a rare occurrence maybe once a day. Not a big deal at this point.
Microsoft MyPhone
Mine does exactly the same and I think I narrowed it down to when I have Microsoft MyPhone set to sync.
Anyone having this problem? I switched my lock screen security over to the fingerprint scanner the other day, and I seem to be having some problems with it. It works ok. Like I can scan my finger, and the screen will unlock, but I keep randomly also getting asked for my alternate password, which is the other way that I can unlock it.
I'll unlock the screen with my fingerprint, then it will ask me for my password. I can hit Cancel, and it will still work fine, or if I enter the password, it takes me to the Lock Screen settings. It also randomly asks for my password if I'm just doing something random, like using Google Maps. And now, sometimes the screen won't even come on, when I wake the device. Black screen, backlighting lights up. What the heck??? Very strange. Please help, thanks in advance

Sorry, I forgot that I also posted this on XDA. I'd received some responsed on Android Central.
Are you having all of the exact same problems? Or just some of them? Because I believe that I solved the problem of the phone screen occassionally being black on wake by moving all of my apps off of the SD card onto the device memory.
As for being randomly asked for my alternate password, I believe that this is because of an app called Worx Home that I recently installed so I could check my work email on my phone. I'm thinking it doesn't like having Fingerprint security. Do you have this app by chance? I can't verify this because I can't afford to remove the app.
fingerprint issue
It turned out my problem was Touchdown HD app for reading my GroupWise email. My employer requires more secure lock on my phone. Thanks for following up!

Ahh, so then I guess that confirms my suspicion about my work email app. Same problem, it wants a different security setting. You're welcome, and thanks for replying!
By the way, if anybody else is having blank screen on wake issues, one other thing I did at the time was uninstall the app Tasker. Not sure if that had anything to do with it, but it was one thing I did.
