I've been searching for days and cant find any torrent client except Adisasta's that cost 20$. And i dont want to buy a software so i cant download free stuff (And not saying the W-word).
I mean there must be atleast one free torrent client?
Why do you need a torrent client for Diamond?
Why do you need a beer program on diamond?
BarateaU PM me
i'm looking for that too. any ideas?
I hope you have an unlimited internet connection on you mobile tariff
me? i have a 6Gb traffic per month.
Well I just meant anyone who intends to d/load torrents on their phone
The only solution.
A far as i can see thats the only solution according to hours of searching on the Internet is Adisasta's WMTorrent. No free program out there right now. But if this is one of your high priorities program i can suggest to buy the program. I have tried it for a while now a works fine with high speed over HSDPA. Tried to test with a file with good seeders and within a minute it was downloading with over 200 KB/s.
Just being picky here but you won't get that speed witha mere GPRS connection, you'll need something faster i.e. HSDPA
I believe GPRS has a max speed of 114Kb/s which only 14.25KB/s
Just in case anyone with a 2G connection was thinking they might get huge speeds from torrents
wmtorrent the best one there is

sorry my bad of cause i meant on HSDPA. i know this is not that much with a HSDPA connection - can go up to 7.1 mb/s right? but this is pretty high speed after only one minute. and the fact that is was a torrent it wasn't that bad.
so in other words and my point: if you need a torrent program there is no free one. and the "expensive" one is good.
Im not asking about adisasta as i know it costs money, im asking if there is anyone for free? I dont feel like paying for something if there is one for free. I mean its not a spaceship im asking for.. Just a torrent client.

Skype already has, imagine msn messenger + wifi walki talki
we are a bit behind in the uk but the us has what thay call push to talk on mobiles
very much like the dolphin 2way if you remember them
Only problem with skype is you still need internet access to 'see' to each other, plus unless you were on the same AP, I kind of guess this thread is more about peer to peer, without a comon AP, the converstaion would still be over 3g or gprs, which is kind of expensive
My 2 cents worth (with lots of ,,,,,s)

PTT - or SMS for Voice - why the heck don't we have it over here. I mean how difficult is it to write and think of all the bandwidth savings the telco's would make. I really don't understand why this hasn't caught on over here.

Ok, so since T-Mobile and Cingular (here in America) want to ban the use of AIM 2.0 on the Pocket PC, and instead, use their service (which charges 10cents an IM), I was wondering if anyone has worked on a hack to fix this.
Basically, both companies have done something to the software, in which when AIM is installed, it will not allow you to sign on. Please note... I am NOT looking for a replacement suggestion for AIM, I am looking for the AIM program itself. There has to be SOME sort of way around this tweak, and I am truly hoping one of the many genius minds that browse this forum would be so kind enough as to help.
do you some sort of error or it just doesnt send
have you tried agile..? it has all the instant messengers
Hello!
This is what I use, and I don't seem to get 10 cents a IM.
Just unzip the cab and transfer it to your device and install!
*Edit* I am in the USA also, just so ya'know.
Agile messenger would be your best bet.
It acts a service and send text messages to your phone instead of the actually message. Just as long as you have a text plan you should be fine.
I prefer Verichat to Agile. The only draw for Agile right now is that it's free, but it's beta. The beta version of Agile likes to crash a lot. Verichat is on th expensive side, but I think it's worth it.
Go here, aol.co.uk and download the aim version for mobile. It's free as compared to installing the EXACT SAME VERSION from the U.S. aol.com which they want $19.99 for. The installer has capabilities for installing on a wide range of pocket pc's, as well as ones with MIPS and ARM processors.
The link once again is aol.co.uk
Good luck!
They charge $20 for that chunk of crap?!? That thing barely functioned under 2003 3 years ago.

i thought agile uses internet?
I was under that impression also. Then I read around on the internet and people were saying that it does indeed act as a gateway to thier servers and sens txt messages back and forth.
Now after your reply and I checked to make sure, I'm finding both answers...So I'm not sure anymore.

Awesome!! That works amazing!
Is the start bar inverted to get it to work here?
Because I remember trying aim before and the thing wouldn't work right but the start bar wasn't on the bottom like this one.
Is it hacked or something?
Very nice though. Thanks!

My son and I both use Agile on our 8125's with a data plan. Agile useage goes against the kb/data, NOT the text messaging. You have to be connected to the internet to use Agile -- either through WiFi or GPRS.
We've NEVER been charged for text messaging using Agile.
Great! I can cancle my text message plan.

There is but it won't work on WM5...
Unless some one can hack it like that above AIM program to move the WM5 start bar to the bottom when the program is active.
Let me break it down for you gentlemen...
Basically what's been happening (here in the east coast of the US at least) is Pocket PC phones have been becoming increasingly more powerful. Obviously, T-Mobile and Cingular are no dummies to waves, so they started to release some of their own. But in an attempt to garner more money, they've been releasing their own versions of AIM, which basically charge the user a text per message (sent or received). In addition, they basically disabled the old AIM 2.0, which was (and still is) highly popular amongst Pocket PCs that aren't branded, or simply don't have a phone equipped in them.
That button on the button that says "Sign On"? It's not there anymore. Neither is the File or Edit menus. There's something embedded in the registry that doesn't allow the usesr to use this version of AIM... which is why I created this topic to begin with.
Now as I stated originally, I wasn't looking for alternatives to AIM 2.0 on the Pocket PC... I like this version a lot. Back when I was using my unbranded i-mate Jam, I suppose I've gotten inclined to using this version more. I've tried Agile Mobile, but it is still way too buggy for me to want to use as my end-all be-all to AIM. And it's missing a lot of features I've grown used to with AIM 2.0. Other IM clients cost money for something I think should be freely distributed.
To anyone using an i-mate K-Jam, or a QTek 9100... this post simply doesn't apply to you. You picked up your phone unbranded, meaning you have no restrictions from your carrier. And I envy you because of that. But since I'm cheap and I'm getting my Cingular 8125 for $50, I'm trying to figure out some workaround to the situation. Hopefully someone can figure out a hack soon.
MightyMegit ... how certain are you that the program you posted doesn't use texts? Does it use data? I don't have a Wizard yet (hopefully within the next 24 hours), so I'm not able to test it out myself.
Anyway, thanks guys for your help, but I really want my AIM 2.0 back. I wish all you developers luck!!!
thanks for the clarification. i started using the aim 2.0 yesterday.
No wonder i noticed to menus or sign on options. What i do i select "stock quotes" or w.e and that signs me on.
It looks just like aim on pc and has aim sounds so i like the look of it. There just isnt options
I have downloaded and Installed AIM 2.0. Is the messaging on it free? Like will I bet charged $.10 a message for a message on Cingular?
You're using either WLAN or GPRS for connecting to the AOL service, therefore standard GPRS charges may apply ...
based of of what he just said, then no. It just costs what it cost you to go on the internet regularly.
Well damn. I wanna use Agile, but I've already used all my 7-days trial on it and i dont wanna buy it :\

You didn't even read my 1st post? Lol.
The bad site on AIM 2.0 ... it is AOL only and has too much other junk!
Also:
AIM 2.0 from the US site is commercial - if you download it from the UK site it will be free of charge!
I did love the AGILE MESSENGER but this overpriced stuff now ... - ... no thanks! That killed my interest! IM+ is not running properly: I can send in a chat but I can't receive anything, so, this one just does not look save to me! Running several IM clients on my WIZ is not really comfortable and needs lots more recources too. The ICQ messenger won't connect! Even though I entered user name and password correctly it keeps telling me that there is a USER NAME / PASSWORD missmatch, so, to hell with this one too ... )
In the mean time:
I am sitting and waiting until something as good as AGILE MOBILE MESSENGER will appear on the market for a lower reasonable price ... and I wish everybody would avoid that overpriced product!
Yes. I loved agile also. If I was as good at programming as I am with the knowledge of computers, I would make myself an IM client that would be based kinda like gtalk or something. No adds, or anything.
But anyway, I was checking Cingular for their Text Messaging plans, and I found unlimited everything, text/picture/video to anyone for $19.99 so I purchased that and I don't think AIM 2.0 will be a problem anymore ha
Hmmm,
19.99 a month? For that money you would have paid for the AGILE MESSENGER within 2 and a half months, LOL. <just kidding>
I need help with aim 2.0...I dled it...and installed it and at first it was working fine...then I soft reset...and now I fo 2 it...and it has my sn already there...so I go 2 buddy list...and online is gray and I can't get that tab up but...list set up is on and I can access that...so how do I get online?...I guess that's the problem...

My operator (Orange UK) has decided not to include live messenger in their ROM. Is that something I can install easily afterward? How would I go about doing this? Do I need to app unlock the phone first? I don't have much experience in installing apps on WM6 so any help appreciated.
Thanks
Hey, i work for Orange and have a touch dual also. Im pretty disapointed that the 'Windows Live' services are missing from the dual, but are present on the Touch.
I was referred by a colleague in the web support call centre that he downloaded the file from a link on this site. (Thats why im here) He found it in the TyTn II forum, but the file is compatible on any Mobile 6 platform... if i find it, i shall post the link for you (if its allowed)
hey, thanks for that. It is a bit of a shame how they removed it from this phone.
As you work for orange, do you know if they are planning to introduce any data tariffs like web n walk? I wouldn't mind paying a tenner extra a month if I could get 1GB of data anytime..

Hey! No worries.. im having problems wading through 178 tyTn II pages... the search feature is utterly useless.
Orange has something called 'Anytime internet' on PAYM. Its £8 per month, and inclused 30MB iirc. When it first launced (back in August) it was unlimited usage upto 1GB.
The Wireless Data Card for Laptops tariffs have just been updated to compete with 3's cheap plans, but i hope the new data plans for handsets happens soon.
Although, i get mine all free
I'm on the £8 a month tarriff, but to be honest 30MB doesn't really cut it compared to Tmobile and 3's tariffs.
Would you mind keeping us posted of when you think these tariffs might be upgraded for handsets? You're lucky you get all yours for free!
Now back to MSN Messenger - i've got a feeling we may not be able to install it even if we wanted to ask the phone might be 'app locked', and as far as I know no ones got a hack for that yet.. or I could be wrong..
I found the application on this forum, just tested it and it works on my Orange Touch Dual!

I use TrekBuddy for the same purpose. It works nice on the Diamond.

I use GoogleMaps in Colorado, and it does work with and without GPS. Here in the US, GoogleMaps will use cell towers to triangulate where you are (been off as much as a half mile before), but it is better than nothing if you have no data plan.
no, it is not possible. you need internet to download maps on the fly. gm does have limited memory where you can browse a map (via internet) and it remembers a few frames for when you arent connected

That's called AGPS. Without using GPS and internet connection, the device finds your location. Iphone uses AGPS. I have no idea whether GoogleMap on diamond uses AGPS or not. But it's really annoying that when using GoogleMap without turning data connection on, GoogleMap keeps on popping that it needs some sort of data connection and I need to cancel it constantly.
Guys, anyway to get around this?

I just started working on GL Maps this past week. It caches maps for 48 hours.
It's still very early beta though, so it probably won't fit what you need for a while.
