GPRS & SKYPE? IS there any way it works??

Hi,
I have the IMATE JAM with huge GPRS pack. (300MB/m)..
wanna ask if I can use SKYPE through GPRS connection? IS there any way to configure that?

Gprs transfert rate is too low for Skype work properly !
But it works fine in wifi mode ! :?

skype uses about 2-5k/s I have no idea how fast gprs is, but I'd have thought its quicker than that. You can always call skype to test it.

Skype for Pocket PC is designed to be used with a WiFi connection. If you are using Skype for Pocket PC with GPRS, you can use instant messaging but the bandwidth does not support calling functionality.

wifi-gprs

i have had a quick look and cannot see a related posy but i appologise if there is
i have just got the mda 3 on t mobile web and walk with 40 mb
i have wanadoo wireless in my home and using the wi fi in my mda3 it has connected
all ok u say
what i am not sure of is when i am wifi connected to wanadoo and then click on internet explorer on my mda it still connects me to gprs,is it supposed to do that and if so will it be charging me,my intention was that i thought if i connected to my wireless home box then i would just go through that and i would be using my wannadoo subscription
do i need to disconnect the gprs in some way
sorry if i sound think but a bit new to all this portable stuff

maybe you could create an extra gprs profile with the wrong settings.Then you could switch to that one while at home..just a thought

That won't work in my experience.
See my solution request Jasjar PIE will not use WiFi connection - always uses GPRS! on Jan 24 :roll:
If you don't have a valid GPRS connection (say flight mode on) the connections just fail via GPRS and it never even tries Wi-Fi :!:
Opera Browser works for me but I really want Terminal Server Client to work. :evil:

atom wireless settin

Does anybody noe how to do the settin for the wireless in atom.. i can search for the wireless but mine always will auto connect to GPRS.. whenever i wanna use internet it will auto connect to GPRS.. can't change it to wireless.. pls teach mi the way to do it cos i'm new to atom.. thkss..

i am getting the same problem for my atom exec too... Does anyone know how could we set so that we can access the internet using wireless....

but did u turn on WiFi first?

Me too I turn on Wifi and connect to my Work Wifi but whenever I launch IE or MSN messenger GPRS Wap is launched anyone can help??

The wifi was turn on and it did search for networks. But what i want to know that, is there any particular setting we need to do to the options so that we can connect to the internet smoothly.

Connection problem

hello!
is there any way I can configure or install a program that doesnt allow GPRS to make a connection, despite of manual?
I dont want GPRS working because is expensive. If I really need it I make a connection.
If I change connection settings I cant do it manual (or have to change it eveytime needed).

permanent connection errors wifi HELP!

Hey guys,
I use the program "NoData" that disables 3G and other services that charge money. So with my phone I only use Wifi when I found a wlan network.
However, I have serious problems with connection all the time.
->It started with SPB Mobile Shell 3.0. I can't access the facebook option to download some pictures of my contacts. Cannot connect.
->Then Mach5 webbrowser did not work on my Xperia. Did try it with 3G (enabled 3G from NoData of course) and wlan. No connection.
->Now, and that really annoys me: tryed to install microsofts myphone service that recently came up. After typing in my Windows Live ID (have connected Wlan) it says: Could not connect.
Are those problems linked to "NoData" or does any1 have a nother clue?

edit: it has nothing to do with NoData. Uninstalled and got the same problems.

On My X1 the WiFi works great.
I have even enabled all Security Settings for my Private WLAN Network.
For me it looks like that your WLAN Network dont work really good.
Can you access the Internet without any Problems with a Laptop ?
I guess you will have the same Problems.
For enabling wifi i use normally the "Comm Manager" and enable there the WLAN.
After this i call up the WLAN Programm and select the Right WLAN Network.
Thats all.
For disabling GPRS 3G i use also the "Comm Manager".
I dont use any other programms.
My experience say even that if both Options "WLAN" and "3G (GPRS, HDSPA ..)" are enabled wlan is preffered.
I still search the Option in Windows Mobile where i setup the Phone to use WLAN as the standard Internet Access.
On my previuos Phone Sony Erricsson P910i this setting was possible.
