Hi,
I have the IMATE JAM with huge GPRS pack. (300MB/m)..
wanna ask if I can use SKYPE through GPRS connection? IS there any way to configure that?
Hello,
Gprs transfert rate is too low for Skype work properly !
But it works fine in wifi mode ! :?
skype uses about 2-5k/s I have no idea how fast gprs is, but I'd have thought its quicker than that. You can always call skype to test it.

From the SKYPE website knowledge base:
Do I need WiFi? Does Skype for Pocket PC work on GPRS?
Skype for Pocket PC is designed to be used with a WiFi connection. If you are using Skype for Pocket PC with GPRS, you can use instant messaging but the bandwidth does not support calling functionality.

Has anyone tried VOIP with their magician? Is there a software available that makes this possible?
VoIP
You can use SJphone or X-ten Softphone for PPC. I use it with Tiscali Telefonie en VoIPBuster.
Tiscali is my ISP and has VoIP as an extra option. VoIPBuster is a "free" Europe VoIP provider.
I tried Skype without good results. On my 9090 the audio quality was much much better but I've to say that the magician I'm using is a replacement fully "original" waiting mine. I guess that with an update it will be better. If it will stay like now I'll trow it away in a sec. It's crappy slow, if by mistake I open the camera than I can't do much than a reset...
I am using Skype with satisfactory results.
My setup is as follows:
a.) fast internet connection ( I have a 1.5Mbs DSL connection and a Linksys WRT54G WIFI) I think Skype is possible in lower connection speed.
2.) I use the headset that comes the IIs (without the headset, audio becomes bad due to echoing).
hi,
i have a probleme with skype 2.
i connect the wifi and i can use irc pocket and other softn it works well, but when i try to connect IE pocket or skype 2, it notify that skype or IE not find the internet connection.
who can help me?
Hey there everybody, I hope someone can help me out on this one.
My wizard was working great, until I recently added the Operator GPRS settings as a connection.
Now when I use Iexplorer or messenger it tries to connect via GPRS, and when I'm already conected to the Internet via WiFi it doesn't detect the connection at all "temporary conditions prevent this service to ..etc." it's as if I wasn't connected.
But if I use Opera or Skype there is absolutely no problem they work fine and ude the WiFi normally.
pleeeasee someone Help
best regards
Hi,
When I'm connected to my Wi-Fi network at home and when I want to sign in using the Windows Live Messenger in Crossbow, the program always starts a GPRS/3G connection, even though the Universal is connected to Wi-Fi.
Other communication software, like 'Inbox' and the 'Internet Explorer' are just using the available connection only, so Wi-Fi when there's Wi-Fi and otherwise GPRS/3G.
Windows Live Messenger doesn't.
Am I the only one with this problem? Or does someone know if the Live Messenger actually uses the started GPRS/3G connection when already connected by Wi-Fi or not?
Same here on CB or WM5. Remember it's still a beta!
I've been told it's a "feature" not a bug!
The only way I know of forcing Windows Live Messenger to use Wifi is to put the machine into flight mode. PITA, but that's the best I can do.

So, with the phone on, it will always use the 3G/GPRS even with Wi-Fi activated?
there is a tweak to disable gprs all together. that is the only known fix.
What is that tweak?
Isn't there just a tweak to have the Messenger only use the cellular service when Wi-Fi is NOT available?
Need to make a video call via WiFi connection with a 3G phone. I know we can do it.
Videocall : Pocket PC to PC with the built in 3g camera using wifi and webcam of PC
