Possible to port sliding today screen to 6.1 pro? - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Anyone got the know-how to try this? It would open up some new looks on our devices. Its arguably one of the better things in the 6.1 update.

don't think i got your point
like in ultimate launcher?

no i think he means the today screen from wm6.1 smartphones. (which is very nice)
I havent seen it on wm pro

Yes, separate it out and make it an installable cab as a today screen replacement or addition. It looks really nice, and usability is better than the original.
This should be possible since they both are based on the same OS. Just a matter of finding and extracting.. I dont have the know-how, but would love this.
I also have not seen anyone else mention this. That is why I started this thread.

I believe it has been brought up in reference to the T-Mobile Shadow today screen that can usually be found under the keyword "neo theme". I haven't seen any ports myself either and I know I would definitely use it especially if it was the neo theme from the shadow. I would love to install the "Freddy Shadow Neo Black Theme". My daughter had a shadow and damn that theme was nice.

Omg. Yes. I've been looking for a port of it too. I'm so jealous. It looks really nice. But then again, it might look weird since smartphone screens are much smaller.

well it'd be really neat, but since we have rectangle screens it'd be very different for us to have something like that

If anyone is wondering about what this is, or more, here is a blog from one of the WM developers who had a hand in creating this:
http://blogs.msdn.com/windowsmobile/archive/2008/06/03/customizing-the-sliding-panel-homescreen.aspx
Maybe something like this could be created using TodayLife, I think that's the one I'm thinking of.

Actually, neo is different , thats what shadows used before 6.1. The sliding panels are great to use, but they have lots of limits too. If you duplicate them with another program like TodayLife, then you would have much more room to configure. And you can't add plugins into sliding panels, you can only manipulate the ones included.

I thought WM2003 SE had a high colour on screen keyboard...

As per the title...
All screen shots I've ever seen of the SE edition, have a new style on screen keyboard.
But having tried the various SE ROM's out there, all of them had a normal two colour, black and white keyboard.
See attached screen for how I THOUGHT it was meant to look.
Any ideas anyone?
funny enough then this is the first picture i've seen of SE which have such a keyboard
http://www.brighthand.com/article/Brighthand_Review_Windows_Mobile_SE?site=PPC
here is a review
most likely this keyboard caused by a 3th party addon software
actually the SE on my vga toshiba e800 had a beautiful colored keyboard
I see - anyone know WHICH piece of software or whatever, gives this better looking keyboard? And can you therefore run it on none SE devices too...?
I've seen Resco Keyboard Pro provides a coloured keyboard, plus Buzz_lightyear skinned the keyboard for his WM2003SE CHS 2.20.07 Translation rom.
have a look at that.
maybe it's special for SE on devices which support VGA ?
there are many different onscreen keyboard replacements out there here are a few

I do not have a Colourful keyboard with my Rom fone was from new (Xda IIs)
Mmmm,
Mixed results and opinions here...
Certainly seems there is no standard....
Thanks for the replies folks.
Blue Keyboard Skin
The nice people that did Wisbar Advance do a free keyboard skin.
It's blue and works well on the older roms, but wouldn't work for me on se.
However - it is free
find it here http://www.lakeridgesoftware.com/downloads/index.html

Calling Shadamehr
Aren't you the chap who used to do some stunning Nokia wallpapers? The last I heard someone was buggering about with your site - what are you doing now? Something similar for XDA perhaps?
Hi Mate.
Yeah it was me - owner and creater of the then www.nokia-wallpapers.co.uk (DON'T click folks - not there anymore).
I got SICK to death of the big commercial cons nicking my work and then having the audacity to SELL it on their own sites.
One of them swore blind it was the other way round and I had took the images of THIER site.
So I asked them to explain, if they had it first, and I had pinched them, why or how they just happened to have a whole shed load of images of my girlfriend on their site, before I even had them according to them - and sent full size (watermarked) images of her to prove it...
They went very quiet at that point, and removed THOSE images from their sites, but not my others.
So I just got sick of putting lots of effort into what then amounted to making money for other people, for stuff I owned that I wasn't even charging for myself mate.
Cheers - well remembered too!
Shadamehr
How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood? No intention of doing the same sort of thing for XDA then, even charging a little for them? I have to say at this point some of Shadamehr's wallpapers weren't the sort of thing you showed your gran at Crimbo dinner!!

Would someone be able to get this skin for the keyboard, it's much more pleasing on the eye.
tried the one from lakeridge software (the wisbar advance people) it didn't work and don't wanna really install a 3rd party app when the current keyboard could be skinned.

Winterface 1.0 Released

WARNING IPHONE HATERS... (semi-clone on board)
Details here.. http://iwindowsmobile.com/vito-mobile-shell.html
Looks like its open season on hacking this now.
If I can only get it to somehow show calendar events on a page, its a hit.
Interesting. The only thing that stil pulls the I-phone ahead in this race is the speed at which it can use thier shell. I still love my PDA more though. Thanks for the link.
Hmmm...can't wait to see some skinning for this.
*update*
DL'd the cab from the website listed. It hasn't asked for an activation code yet...found activation screen, 14-day trial.
It is fairly easy to run, doesn't seem to take a lot of memory. Very similar to iPhone icon UI, not as 'fancy' looking.
looks boring
There is definite room for improvement...not too bad for a 1st version but it's typical of Vito software.
Contacts can be set up with their own icon and can be mixed in with application icons.
I would like to see something along the lines of SPB Mobile Shell though...i.e. Clock page, calendar. Then again, I suppose that will just fatten it up and cause some memory drain like SPB already does.
I'll try it...
I'll try it for a few days.Thanks.
Looks good but why always duplicate the iPhone interface, come up with something better. The new Diamond interface is like a breath of fresh air. It lets us know there are other options out there that is also good.
the most boring thing about vito apps is how cheap they all look. ugly, ugly, ugly.
looks too generic reminds me of samsung gui
something unique would have been more eye catching!
Nice one
Cool feature, but why use it when I have this baby..
On the HTCTOUCH

NM, I found this thread you were in...Is it WAD or WAD2 you're mostly using?

What was the warning for? Another dumb iPhone wan-a-be.
it's actually pretty nice... it just needs some graphical tweaks in my opinion...
Seems ok to me. Granted its similar to the iphone layout; however seems fairly simple and straightforward.
I like the semi black background without it being too black.
Everyone will have a view on this latest interface/gui. What we should remember is that there are people out ther doing an awful lot of development work to give us a better interface/more choice on the WM platform.
Constructive criticism and good points, e.g the request for skinning, is one thing. Simply lambasting the tool is not good enough.
Someone on here the other day was asking for ideas for a new UI for WM. Should we not seize on opportunities like this one presented to us?
Just my dollars worth.
WB
Winterface
I like the iPhone-like interface, and the customizeability. Aside from that, I agree that the overall apearance of SBP Mobile Shell is better.
amen! If I wanted an iPhone, I'd get a damned iPhone!!

I second WackyBanana.
It'd be great to have skinning sometime soon.
just my 2 cents worth, but iphone bashing is getting a bit droll, since we're all here on WM platforms anyways. You have to admit, Apple's UI's are pretty good, just really short on apps and customization.
So lets congratulate Vito and see if we can get some more customization options.
I would LOVE an option to turn off the Vito 'slide to unlock' option since I'm already using Slide2Unlock Pro 1.05...
like another person stated it looks boring! i wonder how well it will work? will it be speedy or sluggish?

Xperia1 panel instead of Tflo3d

Hello diamond-users,
I was reading some stuff about the release of the SE Xperia Panel
http://www.xperiax1.net/Latest/sdk-for-xperia-panel-interface-released-developers-rejoice.html
Since it is normal WM based, I think it is possible to install on our Diamonds. Don't know if it is good or bad, but I am sure there are people who just want to do this for fun.
I have been looking if I could find some kind of installer, but too bad, none found. Maybe anyone knows more?

The first problem with that would be that the screen resolution of the xperia is bigger than the diamond.. If you were to install the panels plugin on a touch hd however it would be much less of a problem ..

PointUI Home on Xperia!

Check this out!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TrTX-hL_qkw&eurl=http://www.pointui.com/
Looks nice!!!
Looks like it's still only optimised for VGA though, note the large gap at the bottom.
Nope, watch the video again, and note the use of the full screen.
So how do we get this or demo or trial it?

only one of the screens looks as if it has some gap at the bottom (others are filling the screen nicely). I'm guessing that even on that home/main screen, the gap is somewhere where you can add some quick access icons or something... or maybe not. It is still a work in progress, so let's hope for the best. (In my opinion, it looks way cooler than SPB)
Looks like it's just a Today plugin
it's activated via today plugin just like how touchflo3d is for the Touch series phone.
if there's a beta version of Home UI 2.0 available, I won't mind coding a panel for it. it's not very difficult after experimenting the nav panel.
btw, the UI works on WVGA but I don't think it's optimised. The home page has a chunk of white space wasted...
I think it looks really promising, can't wait to try it out... I found this on their website: "Accompanying the announcement was a demonstration of the user interface on the HTC Diamond, a customised build of Home 2." Does that mean that Telstra developed Touchflo 3D for HTC? I thought HTC made it themselves.

that demo on the HTC Diamond UI is not TouchFlo, but the PointUI interface customised for Telstra based on 1.51a platform
Looks sweet!
I wants me some of that!
If only Microslouch could make winmo look and work like that.
great work, can't wait to put my hands on it
Yes ok, but what about the phisical keybord???? Rotation screen will be supported? I really hope so... otherwise this ui doesn't make sense on xperia (as the tf3d imho)
he old version did (and still does it, even on my X1) this perfctly within 1-2 Seconds... So it's your guess what it will be like in the next version...

Screen Rotation Animation

This is a cool way to rotate your screen
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uk1ZF3bcPMo
it has been discussed on the forum before, but no one actually ported it or even posted a cab.....
Any idea how to get this on our TP2..... this would be really great...
*BUMP*....
that looks pretty cool I'd also like to see soething like this for our Rhodium if possible?
Cool! I want to see that also!
Pretty Cool. I was worried because the first two animation were very slow. The following ones looked good.
Anyone know of a .cab for this?
This is a cool effect wouldn't mind getting that for my TP2.
can anyone provide the .cab?
nice
that's pretty cool i would like to have it on my tp2 as well.
Same here. Same here.
Would love to try that out on my TP2.
I definitely would like something like that on my Tilt 2!
i need this like a junky needs a fixs
Know this is purly a cosmetic thing, but I would like this too. a lot better than the boring plain switch. Would love it on my TP2, as well.
Yea I'd have to agree 1000% that this is definitely bad ass!! It makes for real nice eye candy and cool transitions to say the least!! I wonder if this is actually something that can be ported over or made into a cab to be installed to our touch pro 2's?? It's funny to see this thread b/c I've always wondered about this since seeing it on the Omnia way back when it was released so im really surprised the port of that software hasn't made it over to XDA!!?!?! Perhaps it can't??? Let's hope I'm wrong and this comes to fruition
bump bump bump it up!
Bump Bump.......
yeaaaaaaaaaa lol lets get this ported baby, I wish I knew how or even had the phone to lend a hand with this!! I mean ive seen more complicated things ported to our phones like manila aka tf3d which had to be one of the hardest things and also the xperia panels to name a few!
