PointUI Home on Xperia! - XPERIA X1 General

Looks nice!!!

Looks like it's still only optimised for VGA though, note the large gap at the bottom.

Nope, watch the video again, and note the use of the full screen.

So how do we get this or demo or trial it?

only one of the screens looks as if it has some gap at the bottom (others are filling the screen nicely). I'm guessing that even on that home/main screen, the gap is somewhere where you can add some quick access icons or something... or maybe not. It is still a work in progress, so let's hope for the best. (In my opinion, it looks way cooler than SPB)

Looks like it's just a Today plugin

it's activated via today plugin just like how touchflo3d is for the Touch series phone.
if there's a beta version of Home UI 2.0 available, I won't mind coding a panel for it. it's not very difficult after experimenting the nav panel.
btw, the UI works on WVGA but I don't think it's optimised. The home page has a chunk of white space wasted...

I think it looks really promising, can't wait to try it out... I found this on their website: "Accompanying the announcement was a demonstration of the user interface on the HTC Diamond, a customised build of Home 2." Does that mean that Telstra developed Touchflo 3D for HTC? I thought HTC made it themselves.

that demo on the HTC Diamond UI is not TouchFlo, but the PointUI interface customised for Telstra based on 1.51a platform

Looks sweet!
I wants me some of that!
If only Microslouch could make winmo look and work like that.

great work, can't wait to put my hands on it

Yes ok, but what about the phisical keybord???? Rotation screen will be supported? I really hope so... otherwise this ui doesn't make sense on xperia (as the tf3d imho)

he old version did (and still does it, even on my X1) this perfctly within 1-2 Seconds... So it's your guess what it will be like in the next version...

would love to see this in action

Doesn't seem to be anything special.
Very similar to UltimateLaunch or Throttle Launcher I guess, because the video only shows today plugins in tabs but not scrolling album artwork or contact photos like TouchFlo 3D does.
thats it ????
this is way behind throttle and ultimate laucher
Lame, but hey can't fault em for trying I guess.
The clock in SPB SHEll with diamond theme have no animation,,
THIS ONE have,,So i like it very much^^

I can't tell from this poorly shot video if it's way behind or not... I did catch a glimpse of the 3d when the clock changed time.
looks great. I like how you can still use the start menu and task manager unlike SBP and some others. Thanks! Im def buying one.
Looks like MusicFlo, doesn't it?

musicflo, funny noob. no its better and looks better, it has the animated clock and can handle plugins on each tab.
so lets wait a little, but it looks promising.

nice software but won't HTC be angry of creating duplicate software of theirs popular 3dtouchflo?

Possible to port sliding today screen to 6.1 pro?

Anyone got the know-how to try this? It would open up some new looks on our devices. Its arguably one of the better things in the 6.1 update.

don't think i got your point
like in ultimate launcher?
no i think he means the today screen from wm6.1 smartphones. (which is very nice)
I havent seen it on wm pro
Yes, separate it out and make it an installable cab as a today screen replacement or addition. It looks really nice, and usability is better than the original.
This should be possible since they both are based on the same OS. Just a matter of finding and extracting.. I dont have the know-how, but would love this.
I also have not seen anyone else mention this. That is why I started this thread.
I believe it has been brought up in reference to the T-Mobile Shadow today screen that can usually be found under the keyword "neo theme". I haven't seen any ports myself either and I know I would definitely use it especially if it was the neo theme from the shadow. I would love to install the "Freddy Shadow Neo Black Theme". My daughter had a shadow and damn that theme was nice.
Omg. Yes. I've been looking for a port of it too. I'm so jealous. It looks really nice. But then again, it might look weird since smartphone screens are much smaller.
well it'd be really neat, but since we have rectangle screens it'd be very different for us to have something like that
If anyone is wondering about what this is, or more, here is a blog from one of the WM developers who had a hand in creating this:
http://blogs.msdn.com/windowsmobile/archive/2008/06/03/customizing-the-sliding-panel-homescreen.aspx
Maybe something like this could be created using TodayLife, I think that's the one I'm thinking of.

Actually, neo is different , thats what shadows used before 6.1. The sliding panels are great to use, but they have lots of limits too. If you duplicate them with another program like TodayLife, then you would have much more room to configure. And you can't add plugins into sliding panels, you can only manipulate the ones included.

[APP] SPB Mobile Shell 3.0 demo video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2AOukFSz5o
-widgets
-flexible engine (open development of widgets?)
-hardware accelaration support (will my mogul run faster?)
-facebook integrated into contacts!
-multiple home pages
-professional and lifestyle (huh?) layout
-kinetic scrolling
-fully customizable (themes supported?)
This can tide everyone over until 6.5! Way better than TouchFlo (IMO).
Amazing
Looks Amazing. Hmm Should I get ready to remove Manilla 2D off my Omina?

Not if SPB hasn't really done away with the standard Today screen. One of the reasons I didn't switch over to 2.0 was the fact that the Mobile Shell home screen did not replace the today screen. I know there's an XDA hack for that functionality, but MS 3.0 should take lesson from PointUI and replace today completely.
this looks awesome.
their standard/default themes always sucked. and somehow 3.0 looks just like 2.0 just with a little tune up..hmm...after all this announcements im a little bit disappointed.
was it announced when this would be available?
Uffff I think i would use this for sure!!! need a release date...
I am a little dissapointed. When I heard about Facebook integration, for some reason I was thinking of the ability to use chat, change status, etc... instead it is just a way to get the profile photo to the contact in your address book. Bummer.
I agree. Not much better than the current version. Should've integrated a few apps would've made it more useful. new version of mobile shell might make current skin invalid too.
So this is basically the same, but a little "upgraded." By not changing the overall idea at all, the same reasons I dont use 2 will be the same reasons I dont use 3. I was expecting so much more with the hype. PointUI kills this. Kills. When will they learn, keep it simple, make it customizable. Oh well.
It looks ok but PointUI didn't do anything for me either so I'll stick with my TF3D till either is truely better.
Glad to see they're trying something new since TouchFLO pretty much made me stop using Mobile Shell as it did what I needed, and it came with my OS, rather than having to install something on top.

Since when is PointUI customizable? I have used it and there is not customization built into it.
Any idea on when the beta of SPB3 will be out?
Do we realy need a second topic with the same questions and wishes?

JukEboXAuDiO, you seriously must be joking right! Pointui Home not customizable? Is being able to replace every graphic in the app, being the only UI with scripting support to allow you to build all sorts of applets and things, and being able to customize the background through the entire app not quite enough customization for you? Or are you referring to the old version released 12 mths ago?

New manilla 2.5

Please check this images and video from new Manilla for HTC Firestone
http://wmpoweruser.com/?p=5321
Wow this is super!
Want it! On my diamond 1
I second this, want!
third that!
I will fourth that
But it looks pretty slow on that touch HD, so i think at the diamond it will be even worse?
Very useful!
Read that it's far from stable atm. I think that WVGA devices are the first to show Manila V2.5 before you'll see it on VGA devices like the Diamond.
I want it too!
Time to resize some of that
I hope HTC remembers us with vga displays.
I definitly like the looks of it.
wow! it's so nice. does exist somewhere?
this is ugly as hell. they placed 300 things in the manilla, and now it is getting complicating.
buttons and options all over the place!
I thought they stoped tf3d programming cause of sense....next generation of wm phones should use htc sense and not longer tf3d
I could hardly see WinMo which I don't know if it's a good thing or bad thing. Anyways, seeing this made me want to buy the diamond2 more.
any news about 2.5?

HTC firestone's touchflo3d 2.5 revealed

Heres a video guys of the new touchflo 3d 2.5 running on a touch hd, original story from wmpoweruser.com, heres the link
WTH....u gotta be kidding me...this looks absolutely nice..only thing is i like the home tab and contact tab on tf3d2
nice, extremly beautiful and useful but pretty slow(at leats in that rom)!
can i get this on my Diamond!!
man, this is looking really nice!!
this looks like a job for xboxmod
brilliant! this is SOOoo nice and practical, especially the home tab. Make perfect sense to integrate program tab there
It looks like a really good upgrade, but why is it called 3D?
Its clearly M2D with a different skin and some great additions...
agree its great upgrade but now the 3d contacts is gone
but honestly, the 3d effect in the contacts was only eye-candy. the grid layout is much more usable. you can access the contacts way faster. with the 3d layout you would have to flip through them or scroll down on the right list. I would prefer the new layout!
totally agree with you
That phone looks more like a Touch Pro 2 that an HD
Be curious to see how long it will take for it to be released to the current line of HTC phones.
Will this be the touchpro2 diamond2 winmo6.5 upgrade? Ive been wondering about that for ages...
New Htc Phone
It is the firestone, no blackstone (touch HD) the firestone is a new device, here is the link for the next phones of htc.
I agree. From what I gather, their upcoming released phones will have this new version but I would think EVENTUALLY it will come to Diamond2, TP2, etc..
At least I hope

new manila 2.5 from firestone Excelent
very fast and now 100% fingerfrindly
more options EXCELENT
The next build of Manilla, TouchFlo3D 2.5, has been leaked, and this video shows it running on a HTC Touch HD. It continuous the replacement of the normal Windows Mobile UI, and it seems all parts of calendar and settings are now subsumed in the software.
Also new is HTC Footprints as an integral part of TF3D.
this is true ???? canĀ“t wait for new Rom with manila 2.5

yeah, htc isn't too big on backwards mobility. the diamond and pro 1 didn't get tf3d 2.0., i'm somewhat skeptical that they'd change now.
however, with that having been said, there is something that may lend credence to why this may be available. all these new devices are WVGA, so it would be easier. as seen w. xbmod's port, wvga to vga is a bit*h to work.

Cool. Thanks for the link! Man, I'm really anxious for this release. The Calendar, new Today, and Contacts are great.
That's one part of Mobile Shell 3.0 that I miss is that Contacts screen. I prefer the picture/contact layout that's in MBS 3.0 and, it appears, in the new 3D 2.5 format.
