P3300 Bluetooth in BMW x5 - P3300, MDA Compact III upgrading etc.

Hello Everybody
I have 400 phone numbers my "phonebook" in my HTC P3300 and I can see them all on the screen in my car. Is there any way to avoid this? I only need some of the numbers in the car.
Thanks for any help.

Try the handsfree extension from Jetwaremobile.com. I only display the contacts from my simcard, as my display (320d) is only 11 characters long and the normal contacts are displayed as "(M) Name..." wasting too much space for the category. You can filter by category too. Give it a try, it works great!
Darkstar.

Hi Darkstar
Thanks a lot for your help. I've installed the programm and will test during those 30 days. If I have any problems I'll get back.
Thanks again have a nice day.

BlueTooth Icon not there after softreset!

Hi have have a problem with my Bluetooth ICON not being in the task bar (bottom right), I have norrowed it down to be a today plug in called PocketBreeze (One of the best pices of software I have found for the Pocket PC, take a look: http://www.sbsh.net/products/pocketbreeze/)
It does work 100% on a few friends XDA II's but not on mine.. I have done a hard reset and all. A few people are having this problem, I have spoken to the developer and he is trying to find a way to fix this problem... Does any one know what it might be or how to fix it?
This is what I have found:
Basically if the device is booted up with PocketBreeze loaded I do not get a Bluetooth Icon on the bottom right of my screen, If PocketBreeze is disable when loading the OS I do get the Bluetooth Icon loaded. (once the OS has loaded up I can then load PocketBreeze with no problems works 100% with Bluetooth Icon)

No one has any ideas as to why the Bluetooth Icon would disapeer? could it be some sort of loading order problem or somthing like that? is there a way to try and change this? E.g. if PocketBreeze is loaded before Bluetooth in the registory could I rename PocketBreeze to say ZPocketBreeze so it might load last or somthing like that????
Regards

FYI, I do not have this problem in using PocketBreeze.

Hi Guys thanks for the reply, I have some friends that have not had this problem and some that have. I have been unable to work out what trigers it to happen as yet...
Has any one found that Reg entry that ttt340 mentioned?
Any help is appreciated!

Hi there,
I don't use pocket breeze but I have the same problem with PI Today from Deje. When this Today plugin is installed, I loose my Bluetooth icon on the Today screen. I had some support mails from the developer but he couldn't solve it.
Somebody suggested that there were too many in the Todayscreen but removing items there (even in the registry) didn't do the trick.
Teguru from tekguru.co.uk came with a handy sollution:
PocketZenPhone which is freeware. It is a plugin for the Today Screen with phone profiles. You can make a profile with bluetooth on. It works great! You can find the PocketZenPhone here on this forum (it has a thread of 102 pages!)
Wouter
thanks for the reply wouterk, I also got told about the to many things on the today screen but it also did not fix the problem.
Thanks for the sujestion about the extra today plugin that could fix the problem but I might wait and see if any one else has any ideas as every today plugin I add makes my Pocket Breeze smaller and smaller :-(... Never enough room... LOL
Many thanks!
Fudge!
Ok fudgebottom,
You're welcom.
I must say I'm very happy with PocketZenPhone but you're right that the today screen is always too small!

send sms from another device using athena

hi guys!
this is what i want to do:
i want to be able to send sms messages from an external device which is connected to my athena.
1. let's say i have, for example, this "acme gadget" which is connected to athena through bluetooth. let's say the "acme gadget" can send alphanumeric chars to athena and then send those as sms.
2. or let's say, i have my bluetooth headset on, and i have a program called "acme program" on my athena that has speech-to-text feature. that program can then send sms from athena.
i'm really hoping i can send sms without having to bring my athena out of my bag, specially on snatcher-prone places.
ciao!

I guess you mean something like this, although this one is for motorola's !!

Exatly ice_coffee!
Although I can live without the qwerty keyboard, a numeric keypad like those in regular cellphones will do.
If it's appearance is something like an lg style-i, it would be perfect.
Oh well, thanks for the post ice_coffee.
I'll keep on searching.

SMSThreading - Speed problem!

I've used allmost every registry hack available to increase the speed of TouchFlo.. And I has worked.
Just not the Text Messaging. When i scroll over to the tab messages, I can see my messages and scroll through them.
No speed problem here. But it is when I wan't to ANSWER to a message, and I press on the message,
It takes 5 seconds before the keypad appears and another 5 seconds before the actual "typing box" appears where I can't see our "SMS conversation"
How do I increase the speed? WITHOUT disabling SMSThreading.
Doesn't anyone have a solution to this problem?
i've also noticed this, and at times there is a 1/2 second delay when typing, the characters taking a wee while to appear on screen as you type. Its irritating, but thats about all. would be nice if someone did have some way of speeding up sms, its the main function on the phone for me.
Cheers

Midomi - song detection for diamond?

Hi, my friend just got his Samsung Omnia few days ago, and he was showing me a program called Midomi, he put the software on, put his phone next to the radio and after few seconds there was text on the screen - the artist and the song! I didn't even know that sound detection is so advanced that the software can recognize a song from few seconds of hearing it.
i tried to search the web for a install file but couldn't find one, so i was thinking is there anyway to get it work on diamond, since omnia uses wm too and i think that the software doesn't need any superhardware to recognize the music, just a regular cellphone's mic.
im sorry if i put this message to a wrong place, and thanks in advance for any info you might have.
there was a program on here the other day that did the
same thing.dont remember the name but its here if you search.
damn i can't find it... please, anyone... im so lonely, help me
here you go mate!

Marty
hi!
i'm very interested in music recognition, too. untill now, i've been using musicid, which is quite good. but the only problem is you need an internet conection (wifi, gprs, 3g...) to get a recognition. what i'm dreaming of is a music recognition software, which can record the song to identify, and then LATER identifiy it.
example: you're driving in your car and you're listening to your favorite radio station. you don't have a data plan, so you're not online.
now they're playing a cool song. you just might start the music recognition software, record a few seconds. later, when you're home again, you connect your phone to wifi and let the software identify the recorded song over internet.
musicid can't do this. what about midomi? or do you know another software capable of this?
thanks and have a nice day
Why not just use the built in recorder then play it back when you get access to the net

hmm, sounds a bit uncomfortable, but i'll give it a try when i'm at home.
Hi Mr Pink, I can confirm that Midomi works brilliantly on my HTC Touch Diamond (HTC WWE 2.03 rom) using Wi-Fi internet access.
Try my version on my signature.
No need to modify the registry for HSPA/3G/GPRS.
You can install on Device/Storage Card/Internal Storage/RAMdisk as your choice.

New owner questions

Hello all,
bought Snap recently and enjoying it a lot, however there are some questions I was unable to find answers for. Could you guys please advise:
Why there's no ClearType (font antialiasing) turned on by default as on my HTC Vox (s710) - how can I turn it on?
REALLY annoying - unread emails and SMS are not displayed in bold! Is there a way to turn this on via registry/smth?
Major for me - I need Russian and Spanish input languages - how can I install them? I've installed some of found .cabs but they are likely for different phones as they mess up special buttons layout;
When I receive SMS, my screen does not lighten unlike on my Vox, is there a way to change it?
I was unable to get my GPS to work. Is there a way to test it not using Google maps to understand 100% if it's just faulty GPS module?
I can't get ActiveSync USB to PC mode to work under Windows 7 - it works only after I change it to DataTransfer mode. Is it a common issue?
I would be really grateful if the group can help with at least some of the questions. Thanks in advance!
OK, I found the Clear Type registry hack but the rest of the issues still remain. Can you advise on the rest of the list, please?
Thank you.
sorry wrong post
Anybody? I can't believe there are no experts using the phone.
Hi,
First of all, I am no expert, but I can indicate you that :
- My unread messages are displayed in bold, so you got to have an option to set.
- In the profile settings, you can set the type of alarm you want for each type of message ; screen light could be one of them
- you have plenty of programs that use a GPS ; look up any WinMo GPS app on this forum, it doesn't have to be designed for the Snap (any QVGA version will do). Try this thread :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=522915&page=3
I guess you could you a free app, for instance Bing Maps, to test you GPS receiver.
Sync under 7 : if it does work at the en of the day, what's your problem ?
I use tomtom for GPS, works great.
Hi there, i've found a few programs that are free for GPS. I tinker with them, when I question if mine is working and one is jst a must have program. They are; QuickGPS, WMMiniGPS, HTC GPS Tool, GPS Test, and GPS Nut. Like I said they're all free programs and QuickGPS, is probably on you ROM.
Good Luck
