Hi, I just recently received my Nexus 10, and am loving it. However, I have found that video quality through streaming services (like YouTube and Netflix) is fairly poor. The videos that I've watched on YouTube and Netflix are fairly blurry and grainy. I tried Netflix on my computer as well, and it was blurry and grainy there, too, which makes me think that the problem isn't my Nexus. Is there a way to increase the quality of videos through these services? I did a speedtest, and my download speed is 2.5 megabytes (not megabits) per second, so I would think I would be able to stream HD content easily. Thanks!
On your computer, are you setting the quality at 720P or higher? Does it buffer or play straight through? Do you have HD turned on the Nexus 10 when you play videos?

Its only me or youtube videos dont play nice. For example Foo fighters-walk video stutters like mad. And many others random videos. Also camera recording its not smooth as should be. There are many frame drops and stuttering.
Its my s4 broken or its normal this way? Im on stock mh1.
Hi All,
I have noticed a disturbing trend on my new Note 3. The streaming video playback is pretty terrible with just about everything except youtube. Has anyone else experienced this or do I likely have a bad unit? Thanks.

This is sort of expected behavior as apps need to be updated to utilize the Note 3's hardware decoder otherwise it has to be decoded in software which is slower and more battery consuming. What apps and what codec is the video encoded in?
Hmmm it seems strange that poor web video playback would be expected on a device targeted toward video consumers. I have encountered this with every streaming video I have tried to play in both Chrome and the built-in browser, with the exception of Youtube videos.
Have you tired Dice Player? Watching Pacific Rim 1080p right now
Only choppy video is from YouTube. I downloaded a few 1080p movies and trailers and they run flawlessly. So I'm assuming it's the youtube app needing to be updated as well as what exothermic video apps. Mx player works fine as well as the stock player

I just recently purchased the G2 and I've noticed some pretty poor performance when streaming video. I've tried both the youtube and Netflix apps and it doesn't look like it's HD quality at all. I've come from the iphone 5 where streaming in HD looks incredible. AND with the specs this phone has I would expect it to be capable of streaming even better. I tested the HTC one, g2, and S4 in the Verizon store and they all seemed to stream video pretty poorly. Is this just an android thing or am I crazy? I have a 720p and 1080p video stored on my phone and the quality is no where near that. I have the Nexus 7 and the quality on that is just amazing which makes me think it's not an android thibg. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

YouTube has always looked better for me with quality files compared to Netflix. I have not been able to get Netflix to stream true HD even with a solid signal. Google video does exceptionally well. Using my own files, I get beautiful HD playback.
Is it the video player or the actual video itself?
I don't stream Youtube too often, but I thought something was seriously broken (software wise) when the videos looked low quality. I tried watching through a browser and there appeared to be no difference.
After several low quality videos, I just recently came across a video that offered really clear quality so I'm going to assume that it was poor quality uploads for the previous videos I watched.
DMM high quality VR video (and 4k video) very lagging (look like drop fps). I don't know how to it happen. Like GPU can't handle but my Redmi Note 10 Pro playing well
I tested on youtube, AiywjdYcQ_s is the link, at 4k i cannot see any lag in the video, are you maybe watching a x265 video with high bitrate? As that would result in chuppy playback.
I tried a 4k x265 mkv in VLC(on this phone 12gb model) it was a sample with very good picture about 3 mins long running smooth, on TV it looked really good too.
High bitrate x265 files do lag but i don't have any for test.
